Really glad I saw an ad for this place and decided to stop by! The weather had gone from freezing to sunny and we needed to get out of the house. This was the perfect place to enjoy the fresh air. Front yard Brewing is on the same property as 5 Soul Wine Co. It's great if you have a group that wants wine and beer. The bartenders at the brewery were super nice and explained their selections to help us decide what to order. My fiancé got a beer and I ordered one of their cocktails. It was a lavender lemonade cocktail using their cider and I really enjoyed it. The only negative was that their prices were a little steep. We visited right after the Austin freeze, so some of their inventory had not been delivered. We tried to get some food from one of their food trucks, but they were out of quite a few menu items and the winery was out of their charcuterie. We ended up trying the pizza food truck, which worked out well in the end, because it was delicious! My only other thought - I wished there was more outdoor seating. It was so busy that day, it was difficult to find a seat outside. They have pickle ball courts you can rent by the hour, Frisbee golf, and fire pits to sit near. Firstly, the name Frontyard is true to the experience. Friendly staff and wide selection of beer from Belgium to stouts to frozen shanty. I think they have seltzers and more. Family and kid friendly, this place is an outdoor picnic for dates, after work, or a special occasion. As good as the beers are, and they rotate often, Neapolitan Pizza's prosciutto pizza is the best I've ever tasted. Beautiful location! Front yard is such a unique place hidden outside of Austin near Bee Cave. We visited on a Saturday about 30 minutes after they opened and it was already bussing with pickleballers, casual drinkers, and at least 2 children's birthday parties. However, there was still plenty of seating to go around (shaded and not shaded). The beer was good (I liked the raspberry lemonade sour best), and the mixed drinks looked so fun (there's a purple one with a lemon on top that I'm still thinking about for next time). The location is both a brewery and a wine haven, with 2 food trucks (burgers / sandwiches and pizza). The pizza location opens at noon, but burgers opened at 11am (same as the brewery & wine locations). Love the green spaces, the view of the hill country, and the live oak trees sprinkled throughout the yard. read more

My friends and I played pickle-ball for an hour (reservations required) on their outdoor courts, and rewarded ourselves with fantastic beer and snacks afterwards. The honey ale was perfect for me, and we also got frozen rose from the wine area which was delicious. We went on a very busy day, and Their food trucks were out of a lot of food options, but we were still able to get two wood fire pizzas, and they were also delicious. I've been to between 200 and 300 breweries around the world over the years and I've never found anywhere as family friendly as Frontyard. If I lived anywhere remotely near by, my family would basically live there much of the year. It's bright, it's cool; wine next door if anyone prefers that, a huge and diverse selection of beers including a foeder for making "proper" European style sours. The lagers are decent but with the standard of lagers in Austin being exceptionally high, I'd probably rate their lagers as middle-of-the-road; a decent bit of haze still in most and missing the bright acidity of the beer examples. read more

We were on a hunt for one another local spot that provides a good shade on a hot day with a good beer in weekends. We found this place in lake away looked very nice in pictures so we had to go. The place is amazing, they have ample parking which they share with a wine bar next door. You can pick up food and drinks and sit anywhere between the brewery and wine bar. It has enough indoor and outdoor sitting area with lots of pickle ball courts. They have two food trucks in the back, one with sandwiches and salads and the other with one has wood fired pizza. Small portion personal pizza was amazing. Wifey bought some salad that I didn't pick the name of, it was really good and fresh. Beers and cocktails are freshly made and very very good. I went with my usual magical lager but I also got a flight to try out other beers from the brewery. I want to go again to try their wines ( and cheese boards). They have many seltzer based cocktails or mock tails if you like and pretzels to go with the beers. There are lots of places under shade, they have a lot of places for kids to play in the middle quad where parents can see what the kids are up to while chilling with a beer in hand. It's totally worth the drive if only for the gorgeous view. This place has a little bit of everything: sun, shade, food, drinks, yard games, pickle ball, and live music. There is plenty of parking so don't worry about having to carpool. There is a lot across the street where you just kinda make your own spot. My friend was having her birthday out here on a Saturday afternoon. It was a gorgeous spring day in Austin...so of course it was super crowded but not overly crowded. What we all noticed though is that there isn't enough provided seating. There are many picnic tables and sets of grouped chairs. Many people brought their own lawn chairs but I feel as though there should be more seating provided. The Adirondack chairs were comfy but many of us had to sit on the ground and take turns in the chairs. #mytwocents There are actually two buildings: one for beer and one for wine. Everybody wins! The beer list is great (see photo) but a bit pricey IMHO. I ordered a beer and it came out to be almost 8 dollars. Yikes! I usually order wine most places so maybe that's the going rate these days? The beer was tasty and refreshing. A few people in my group got frozé or a frozen peachy shandy so there are plenty of options for everyone. Dogs are allowed on leash but it was odd that they didn't have enough dog bowls to go around. Many places these days are providing paper dog water bowls (and filling station) which are then biodegradable. I wandered around and asked three different people about where I could get water for my dog. I was sent from one building to another and finally was told that there were water bowls around I just have to look for them. I was also told I could buy a water bowl. What?!? I am not buying a dog water bowl thank you very much. So this place is "dog friendly" but not very "dog accommodating". I finally got water from the free water tap in the beer building (nice touch) and just let my dog drink from the plastic cup. My dog is a person anyway so she was fine drinking from the cup. ;) While we were there a man set up for some live music which was nice. It was loud but not too loud so we could still have a nice conversation and not have to shout over each other. I didn't have any food but there is a pizza food truck there and it looked pretty good as people were walking by with their orders. The truck itself is pretty cool looking. It is all painted black and goes with the black and white theme of the buildings. I had to leave before it got dark but all the trees were wrapped with lights so I'll bet it is lovely out there at night. I will definitely be back to enjoy this outside space. The view is stunning. I hope there is an improvement to the seating situation by then and I'll have to remember to bring my own water bowl for my dog. read more

Frontyard is actually located inside the 5 Soul Winery property. The overall property is super kids friendly. They have a large artificial turf area, multiple corn hole areas, a few pickle ball courts( requires $ and reservations), a few slides, and another big field. So yeah, it's kids friendly. Maybe too kid friendly:-) The brewery itself has some really good and wide spectrum of beer choices. I've tried their Belgium and Amber both were great. I recall seeing IPAs, Porters, Lagers and others on the list. Prices seem a bit on the pricey side but I cannot recall the exact price. Regardless, it's a fun place and super family friendly. Summer be damned! This place is all about refreshment, fun, food, and relaxation! Been coming here since day one when they opened on 2020 and it just keeps getting better and better. Let's start with the venue...this expansive property sits on about nine acres and is beautiful. Great hill country views, bunches of preserved oak trees on site, and tons of seating, both in the 'yard' as well as under the misted patio. But what is a brewery without beer? I gotta tell ya, and being a 'nano' brewer myself for over 20 years, Frontyard is absolutely knocking it out of the park! They literally have a drink for everyone, from Goldens to IPA's to pale ales. They even have seltzer based drinks that are made with in house steeped bases. Absolutely delicious. Then there's the staff...by far the best I have encountered at a brewery. You would think you were hitting a high-end vineyard on the 290 trail. Chad and Brian have done an exemplary job with finding the perfect people to man the rail at this place. Killian and his team are very friendly, treat you like an old friend, value your business, and simply care about your experience. I've been to tons of breweries throughout the US and this stands alone from a staff standpoint. Finally, they have food..and man, is it good! Quick bits: great beer, surprisingly good wine, very kid friendly with good food trucks for food. My wife, 5 month old daughter and I've all went and we really enjoyed ourselves. Tons of kids were from 10 to a few months old so plenty of opportunities for kids to play. They had toys and activity areas spread throughout for kids to have fun. The lines for the beer seemed long but the wait wasn't bad. And the beer was quite good. The root beer was really fantastic if you like sweet root beer.
