Best family friendly brewery in Austin. Great beer, great events, lots of fenced in space for kiddos to run around and amazing staff!

Check out in the Frontyard and the Front Porch! This brewery is just a bit outside of Austin, out in Spicewood. It's a new construction where they're making a handful of different beers, along with a winery, that share the same space, making a family-friendly place to hang out! There were lots of kids when I came here, in fact one kiddo was celebrating his birthday out here. No, he wasn't turning 21, he seemed to be in middle school. Nobody bats an eye with the parents letting their kids cut loose and play out on the artificial turf, the pickle ball courts, the frisbee golf goals, the toys that just seem to be put out there for kids, and other playground like amenities for the little ones. Beer is served inside by enthusiastic bartenders who seem to know their goods, and like drinking it and working there. They all seemed genuinely happy to be there pouring beers, which is great! The beers were all pretty standard beers, nothing too imaginative or risky. They had things like a Mexican lager, an IPA, a Pale Ale, etc. No strange beers, or sours that I could recollect. Their more crazier beers were the dark ones, which I skipped since it was pretty hot and I couldn't handle a deep, dark 10%+ beer. They offer growlers, and sixers to go as well. Be sure to check out their merch area- they have some fun looking things. Some embroidered brewery patches would be appreciated! They have plenty of things that'll keep your kids entertained if they left their toys at home. The beers were all pretty delicious. I got a flight to try a wide swath. The carbonation could've been stepped up a few notches, the beers were on the less than bubbly side, but the beers were flavorful and quite delicious. The view is worth checking out- you sit back on one of those Adirondak porch chairs in the shade of their oak trees or their porch and take in a pint of honey ale, it's as close to heaven as you're gonna get. read more

What a lovely place! I don't typically frequent breweries because I'm one of the few people in the world that doesn't like beer. But then a little birdie told me that they make hard seltzer cocktails and I was signed up! Went here for lunch on a Saturday. Arrived around 11:45am which was perfect because there were still plenty of seats. If you come after about 1:00pm, you might consider bringing some lawn chairs unless you want to bring a blanket and go "picnic style". They have a large turfed area and then real grass further beyond. People do bring their dogs, which I don't mind because I love dogs, but it's a bummer when you watch one piss on the turf. Also, there's a disclaimer on their website that their insurance doesn't allow certain breeds which is complete b.s. and they should get a new insurance company. Any breed can be bad depending on their owners. Any breed can be good depending on their owners. I am a pitbull owner and he's a sweet as pie and the thought that I couldn't bring him is sad. Even Great Danes are listed. Anyway, back to the food and drinks...The two cocktails I had were the Lavender Lemonade and Frozen Lava Flow. Both were good but they were $10 and $11 respectively which is a bit spendy. Then I got a the Frontyard Burger and fries at the food truck. It was decent, but a little dry. I did enjoy the homemade pickles and the fries were extra good. There was a lady working the food truck that I witnessed on multiple occasions being rude to customers. If the owner wants to message me to find out who, I would be happy to let them know. I just don't like blasting people for the world to see. The employees that were serving drinks were amazing so that made up for it...along with the music selection. Overall it was a good experience and I'll likely be back. read more

Let me start by saying the brewccino (I think it's called) was amazing. Like a Wendy's frosting with just an aftertaste of beer. However, as a non avid beer drinker they didn't have anything I'd really drink. Neither did the wine bar next door. The corn hole was fun. We went on a Saturday and there were a TON of kids which is great but I did almost get hit in the head twice by two different balls. So be aware that you'll need to be alert. Fun atmosphere. After arriving with a fruit cup for one our children from an outside vendor, a steward ripped the bag out of my hands angrily insisting there could be no outside food or drink, even for a 2 year old. Assault over a fruit cup is not family friendly, and no attempt was made to apologize or rectify the situation. read more

I keep saying it but I love seeing evidence of it. Nature is healing. And the scene at Frontyard on a clear, cool and sunny Saturday, with kids merrily running around, strangers awkwardly--but eagerly--striking friendly conversations was exhibit A. Was really looking forward to trying out this place for the longest time since it's a trek for us "way-south"Austinites...and here are the pros and cons (in my opinion, for whatever it's worth). The entire place is fenced in which is probably safe for all the kiddos and dogs that families bring. The views are gorgeous and the set up between the brewery and wine house is perfect. The parking fills up quick, but tons of parking across the street as well. The beer, wine and cocktail/mocktail options are delicious. I met some friends for an afternoon of day drinks and catching up. We enjoyed the beverages and food trucks. Pizza was a long wait for what it was (nothing special, but still tasty). My only real issue with this place was all the children. I felt like I was at a daycare drinking vs at a brewery. Don't get me wrong, I love kids and friends with kids, but it definitely took the place down a notch in my opinion, since I couldn't seem to turn around or walk without bumping into a running toddler or kid doing cartwheels. In fact, we really were confined to one table since it was extremely crowded, but just shows what a hot spot it is for the local fams in the area. Other than that, beautiful and fun place. I'll probably stick to other breweries though that have more adult vibes and closer to home, or grab some friend's kids and ask for a play date. read more

We can here for the first time last night. Perfect 80 degree evening in the hill country. Gorgeous sunset. The beers were super refreshing. Had a flight to start and then a full beer of one of my faves from that flight. Greats stuff. We skipped the pizza from the food truck but they looked amazing. Instead we opted for some very good brats and hot dogs. The place is adjacent to 5 Souls Wine, which sources their grapes from Paso Robles. A perfect option for the non beer drinker. The overall outdoor setup is nice with artificial turf, Adirondack chairs, tables etc. oh and pickle ball courts too. And depending on your view, it is very family friendly so there are lots of kids. Wasn't that big of a deal, but some people will not care for it. read more

A really great place! Incredibly family friendly with two food trucks and wine and beer on site. The whole property is really beautiful and fenced in and really safe for kids to roam and play. First time here with family for the Sunday gospel brunch. Absolutely loved this place. The music was awesome. The breakfast pizzas were very tasty. The adults loved the salted caramel stout, the rye IPA, and the pino. Kids loved the root beer. All of that to say the food and drinks are really good, but pale in comparison of the staff's friendliness and the hill country ambience. They have great beer, the staff are great and the winery in the same property is a huge plus when you have friends that don't like beer. Sadly though I give only 3 stars and it is for the daycare center atmosphere. Kids running unsupervised in all directions, parts of games being thrown everywhere, yep thought I needed to duck a few times. I don't mind kids at places but the kids here outnumbered the adults and they weren't in just one area so there was no escaping them. read more

After visiting Frontyard Brewing this weekend, it has certainly taken the title of my favorite brewery in the Austin area (sorry, Meanwhile Brewery). The views are gorgeous and there is plenty of space for social distancing and for the kids to play. There is artificial turf so it's perfect for setting up a picnic area and not have to worry about bugs or dirt. Their seating areas are set up in a way that it doesn't matter where you seat, you can keep an eye on your kiddos while sipping of your drink of choice. I tried the Hazy IPA and my husband had more than a few Ambers. I also got a bottle of 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon from 5 Soul Wine Co next door. It was pretty good, but I did not particularly enjoy drinking wine from a plastic cup. The food truck has great quality food. The pretzel bites were the perfect combination of chewy and buttery and the beer cheese was tasty. The burger was perfection, but I did not care for the chips. My kids had the hot dog and grilled cheese and they devoured them faster than they eat most of their meals, so I assume they approve of this review. My only complaint is that I wish I lived closer so I could hang out here more often. Check it out... you won't regret it. read more

Great fun! The pizza truck is sometimes the only food open. Sometimes the staff can be a bit snippy. The view is worth it. If it looks busy, the view is worth it. If the people are rude, the view is worth it. It's a must go read more

Gorgeous brewery and outdoor space!! The staff and beer were equally wonderful. The resident food truck has delicious food that is described as "farm to trailer". We will definitely be back! Depending on the style of brewery environment you prefer read my "fine print" below. The fine print- when we went early on a Sunday it was quiet and heavenly. Within about 30min of arriving the place was taken over by parents and kids who were not supervising their kids. Ex. Kids throwing ladder balls into a nearby tree, tossing a football across an area for seating, and swinging the porch chairs into the buildings windows. It was chaos. read more

Just went to this brewery. Very nice. Very family friendly vibe. From the corn hole area, to the pickleball courts, there a lot of room for people to gather in groups, or be by themselves. The beers were excellent ( we had the Hazy IPA, and a Scotch ale). They had two food trucks there today, one pizza and flatbread ( which looked good), and the other was burger/sandwich truck. We both had the Buffalo crispy chicken sandwich. Good bun, tons of Franks sauce (running off the sides), slaw, and pickles. Everything you want in a chicken sandwich! Tender crispy chicken, and plenty of sauce. Very nice way to relax in the afternoon. Highly recommend! read more

I've been a few times. I enjoy the IPAs. Hadn't eaten here, but tried the burger from the food truck a few days ago. Fresh bun 2 juicy burgers, tomato, pickles, ketchup, some type of mayo/ranch dressing. Was absolutely one of the best burgers I've had. Lovely, friendly woman making the food. It was so good, I returned a few days later for another one. Frontyard is family-friendly, pickleball, cornhole, lots of running around space for families. So to make clear we love the Front yard, a great place to visit and have a Beer. The issue was with the food truck, the person was really grumpy to me then again to my wife. We got a call from the owner which was a nice followup. She refunded our meal, didn't need to do that but appreciated it. I'm sure the quality of the ingredients is top notch it was the assembly that was a mess. The burger was in pieces almost like a sloppy Joe piled on with cheese. I love visiting Frontyard. They update their menu often and always have new drinks to try. They never have a long wait and even where it's busy you can tell the staff is working efficiently to serve everyone. Hands down one of the best breweries we've been to. Super cute venue with lots of outdoor seating and a fantastic view. Great beer as well! My husband and I both fell in love with our choices. Fine beer, great location in hill country, I got there fairly late and was still able to get a meatball sub from one of the food truck benders even though they had started to wind down operations for the evening. The guy cut me a break! It is a long way from Austin. I happen to be visiting friends out in Lago Vista, and from their place to Front Yard is about a 40 minute drive. I, like the vibe of the place, there were loads of people there even at 8:15 at night, and the beers were solid. I will definitely go back one of the next times I'm out Austin way, just have to plan for a two hour round-trip to get there from staying downtown. Make sure to rent a car. It's crazy to use Uber or Lyft to get out to these locations. Also, once you're out that way, you can hit Oasis Texas, and Infamous, which are both solid breweries, the former because it's got a incredible view of Lake Travis, and the other because the beers are pretty solid. And Jester King and other excellent breweries are out that way! Dilly dally as much as possible; it's worth it! read more

Perfect place for beer on a beautiful day. The views are spectacular, especially when there is live music to go with them.

Highly recommend this place! Quickly becoming my favorite place to hang out after a long day at work. They always are a bit packed but the space is large and there is plenty of places to sit and enjoy the view. Plenty to do while here as well wether it's playing pickle ball, listen to live music or grabbing a bite to eat at their food trucks. There's always a new drink to try and Killian is great at recommending and describing their many beverages. Personally I'm a big fan of the Honey Blonde but they have something for everyone here.
