Growler Express is a pleasant surprise. I chose it due to its proximity to my son's house in Manchaca. But I was pleased to learn that it could stand on its own merits. For one thing, its ambience is a cut above other growler bars I've been to. It's more like a bar with great selection of beer, a host of regulars, and inviting interior. Daily specials are posted behind the bar. Two TVs for your viewing pleasure. Plenty of seating given its relatively small size. And a great selection of local and regional beers. But what really sold me was that as we walked through the door the bartender was carrying a bowl of water for my small dog to one of the tables. Along with a dog biscuit. Food? Other than dog biscuits I'm not sure. I didn't notice any snacks available but I didn't really look. There is a small assortment of soft drinks. Meh. This place is called growler express but they've never had anything on tap that I'd even want to put into a growler. Mostly Macro beers and a THC seltzer on tap with underutilized tap lines. Kind of a boring place that improbably only appeals to a select group of regulars. Pinballz across i35 has a better tap list and that's saying something. Feel like the owner/operator doesn't really enjoy craft that much. read more

Great new addition to the greater Buda/Kyle metroplex area and just what beer geeks like me here needed. No more running up too ATX, San Marcos, or SA to try great, local, craft beer. By local, they really mean it. They are trying to get brews that are local to the Buda area. And while they may carry a tap or two from breweries in Austin/SA, they really want to spotlight breweries that are not Austin or SA based, really defining "drink local." We went during their soft opening and they had a steady, if not busy stream of customers, which all managed to get served timely and had their questions answered (some customers were new to the craft beer scene). Really look forward to coming back here and setting their additions (outdoor seating). No food as of yet but you can bring your own or call it in (pro tip: there's a Papa John's next door and a Thai restaurant a block away) Looking forward to many more pints at this new hang out spot in the 78610. read more

Over all Growler Express is a nice spot to go have a drink casually not often to packed so getting attention from bartenders isn't hard and if it is packed they do a good job to get to you quickly. The selection of beers is pretty big and is always changing if you like options! My husband and I love this place. They have lots of beer. Constantly rotating taps so there's always a new option to try. They usually have weekly events with tastings, live music, and a food truck. What to say about Growler express.... Honesty one of the most refreshing and well run establishments in Buda. There rotation of amazing beers, ranging from white claw to heavy IPAs(and everything in between) are outstanding. New beers every week, how could you not enjoy that. Their staff is amazing! Every bartender there is polite and is actually interested in finding you a beer that suites you. A great cool place to come relax and laugh while playing one of there selection of board/ card games and enjoy the best AC in town. Definitely cool to have a taproom in the Kyle/Buda area. Fresh, local beers, and specialty brews are great by the glass. Here's the problem: "growler" is in your name. Your taps aren't arranged to actually fill growlers. No shelf, too high, and too close together. I've had five growlers "filled" at your place, and not one was actually to the top. Need to keep the O2 out or my beer goes flat. And the price you're charging, I should have at least 63oz in a 64oz growler. Yeah, price is a bit steep for amateur hour. read more

My wife and I had a great time, it has a relaxing environment, beers for any taste, I had a raspberry beer, it was very good. I also got to try different kinds of beers. I was also able to order pizza from next door (Papa Johns) which they bought to my table. We had such a good time that we went again and plan to continue going as many times as possible. read more
