Vista is one of my favorite local-ish breweries. Day tripping to Dripping Springs for good breweries and wineries is such a fun thing to do. So, if there's a place I like, I'm gonna go again and again. Vista is one of those places. I like their approach to beer making. They are vigilantly local when it comes to ingredients and offerings. The brewery/restaurant sits on over 20 acres in hill country. Large, clean, and modern interior with large outdoor seating areas and patio setups. Picnic tables, fire pits, etc. The food is good, gang. Love the grilled sausage board and the cheese board (all local cheese). Soft pretzel & cheese also super good. Lots of other items in the menu that look incredible. Sunday brunch too. Farm to table. The pours...oh, the pours. Excellent beers! I love the black pilsner (Dark Skies), the chocolate notes come through in such an aromatic and roasty manner. The pale ale (Driftwood Pale Ale) is the perfect summer pour. It's light, crisp, and refreshing. In addition to the regular pours, they've got a lot of seasonal offerings too. They also serve wine/wine cocktails and n/an options. Spending a day in hill country? My family and I went to Vista Brewing for dinner. We drove there, parked, and walked in. There are plenty of places to park. It's a very spacious indoor and outdoor restaurant with lots of seating and places to explore. As we walked in I noticed that it's very bright with a lot of windows. You order at the counter. When we walked up to the counter the menu was on the bar top. We looked at the menu and placed our order with the man working behind the counter. He was really cool and answered our questions. After ordering he gave us a number and told us to seat ourselves. After figuring out where we wanted to sit we went to the water station and grabbed some water. We looked around inside at the decor and talked while we waited for our order. We started with two sharables and each ordered the burgers of our choice. Unfortunately when they started bringing out our food they made an error in how it was made. We told them, the took the wrong order back, and after awhile they brought us everything and apologized for the error. Our sharables were the Grilled Chimichurri Avacado which comes with a half avocado, corn, and tortilla chips, and the Hummus Board which comes with hummus, veggies, and pitas. Both of these sharables were tasty in different ways. The Grilled Chimichurri Avacado was delicious. You could taste all of the delicious flavors and the tortilla chips were strong enough to hold a mix of the ingredients. The Hummus Board was also very tasty. The Hummus was garlic flavored and the veggies were fresh and crisp. The pitas were warm and soft. For my main dish I ordered the Driftwood Cheeseburger. It comes with a beef patty, bacon jam, onions, pickles, sauce, and cheese. I opted for no cheese. The burger meat was really good. You could taste the Smokey flavor from the grill on the meat. The bacon jam was sweet but not overly sweet and gave the burger a sweet and savory flavor. The pickles added texture to the burger. It was a really good burger. I ordered my burger with a side of kettle chips which were nice and crispy. Overall it was a great place to visit. Vista Brewing has quickly become one of our absolute favorite breweries in the Hill Country -- and for good reason! Every visit has been incredible, from the food and service to the beautiful setting that somehow feels both laid-back and elevated at the same time. The property is massive, with indoor and outdoor seating that gives you all the elevated Hill Country vibes. You can walk around and see their chicken coop and bee hives, which they actually use for ingredients in their food and beer (how cool is that?!). Everything here ties back to their focus on regenerative farming and sustainability, and it truly shows in every bite and sip. Even the meat they use is raised up the street from them and has fed off the grains from their beer! They serve up not just great beer -- which has won awards -- but also wine, cider and NA options, making it a great spot for everyone. It's also super kid-friendly, with a kid scape area that keeps the little ones entertained while you enjoy a drink or meal. Speaking of meals... the food is next level! We've tried several dishes, and everything has been phenomenal. The fish and chips were some of the best we've had anywhere -- perfectly flaky with a thick, crunchy batter. The Wagyu burger was out of this world -- juicy, smoky, and cooked over a live fire. Everything down to the pickled veggies and sauces is made from scratch, and you can taste that attention to detail. They often have live music, daily specials, and friendly staff who always go out of their way to make sure you're taken care of. Everyone we've encountered has been welcoming, knowledgeable, and clearly proud to be part of such a thoughtful, local operation. Vista is definitely one of our favorite Hill Country Breweries. It is a huge property with a lot of natural acreage and perfect for our entire family. Personally for me, I find their food to be a bit expensive for what it is. I know it is farm fresh, but you get small portions and I don't find there to be a lot of choices. After spending $20, I would expect to be a bit more satitiated. In terms of service, it is counter service. You order food at the bar, get a number and then they bring you your food. We've been here often and everyone has always been very friendly. The main reason we frequent Vista is the ambiance. Food was amazing. We had a party of 20+. Beautiful location & food was delicious. Def try their mashed potatoes bc those are to die for. We had a family style order so the mashed potatoes, salads, and bread came out first. Then seconds later the entrees came out; it was the salmon and Tri tip. Super yummy! The only downside we had was the fact they charged our "hold card". Back story- they asked for a hold card for the event & we gave them one, but informed them a different card was going to be charged. At the end of the event, they charged BOTH cards. Let me start by saying that I am not a beer drinker but I do love the grounds and a lot of the music talent. Food has unfortunately gone down hill, used to be really good. Let me say before our last visit this past weekend, Vista has been a 5-star location for us. Pretty good local brews, with a few fun alternates like the occasional saison or cider, and they serve local wine as well. Paired with their grounds, which are just fantastic (live music, bee farm, food farm, bonfires in the winter and smores), and their food and events, this is a destination. But wow, their kitchen just took a nose dive. I will say I believe they are aware and care about this, so I'll be back to try it again, but some of our go-to orders - the pretzel, the chicken sandwich, the burgers - they have all gone from great to meh. And when they replaced our pretzel, it was still so sorry looking. And they replaced the rock hard grilled cheese with a kids burger that was a regular sized burger, burned black, and cut in half on a normal sized bun. I don't need to go into this any more. I will be back. But I will order with caution. Or I'll come having already eaten elsewhere. read more

Vista Brewing is my favorite stop for a quick getaway from Austin. This 21-acre brewery in Driftwood features plenty of outdoor seating, tasty beer, and delicious food. They encourage visitors to walk around their property, and I love visiting their apiary and farm. It is also very kid-friendly, and is equipped with a large outdoor playground. Vista Brewing's food is phenomenal, especially for a brewery. They have plenty of both shareable bites and full entrees. My favorite menu items are their green goddess salad, with pistachios and grilled chicken, and warm pretzel with wasabi pub cheese and mustard. Vista Brewing has beer for everyone, but their hive mind honey ale collab with the Hays County Beekeepers Association is my favorite. I recommend ordering a flight so you can try multiple beers. The next time you're looking for some fresh air, I'd look no further than Vista Brewing for a great day out of the city. read more

Worth the drive to Dripping Springs! They have a huge outdoor area with a playground for kids. I tried their chili dog and loved it. It has a bit of a kick but nothing crazy. Service was very accommodating, my nephew ordered a cookie that was undercooked and they replaced the cookie. read more

Vista Brewing is a great venue for a wedding reception, party, or even just to visit for beers and bites. I had never been for the food before but the menu they prepared for my besties wedding was unmatched, so flavorful, nothing that didn't taste great, but that could have been specific to the items selected for the wedding menu. There were Asian infusions in certain items like the beer cheese (added wasabi) and they even use sake for some of the drinks, which I found to be cool. Staff is beyond friendly and accommodating. I've been here before for beers with friends and have always had a great time. For the wedding reception venue, it's a little loud in the main hall, so just something to keep in mind for speeches if you don't rent the whole place out. They have an amazing selection of beers, I had a few different varieties but the one that comes to mind is the IPA - loved it! read more

***A Disappointing Decline: Vista's Brunch and Service Woes*** As a loyal local who's regularly visited Vista specifically for the Driftwood burger, I'm beyond angry and disappointed by what I experienced today. What was once a reliable favorite has, in my opinion, taken a turn for the worse. I used to tell friends and family all about that one burger. But now? I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. First off - you've replaced the one great thing on your menu with a pathetic brunch selection that feels like an afterthought. The new burger? Bland, basic, and a far cry from the original Driftwood. When I asked the server if I could still order it, he told me I could--but only if I waited 30 more minutes.  This was my first letdown.  Hoping to make the best of it, I tried to customize an order: caramelized onions, no pickles, and no aioli. The server agreed to the caramelized onion, and I tipped generously in return before the food came -- big mistake, which I later badly regretted. My husband also ordered, specifically requesting no cheese due to an allergy. What followed was an absolute mess. After a long wait, our food arrived--with cheese on his and no caramelized onions on mine. We sent them back. Round two? His came back with pickles (which he also asked to exclude) and mine still lacked caramelized onions. I sent mine back again, he was too hungry at this point and decided to remove the pickles on his and eat it. He regretted it because the burger still tasted like pickles and he said it overall tasted horribly. The meat was poor, and absolutely NOTHING like their original cheeseburger. As bad as he could possibly have eaten. When my burger finally came out a THIRD time, mine still had no caramelized onions and just had the pickles lazily scraped off--leaving the flavor behind. The server then tells me, only after all this, that they didn't even have caramelized onions available. This was now past 2pm--when your regular menu with Driftwood burger was supposed to return. Three attempts. Three failures. Cold fries and burger. Sub-par meat. Zero care or effort from the kitchen. At that point, I was so upset and just wanted my money back. The server said he'd take care of it but **made me wait and come chase him down**. No apology, no accountability, not even a hint of concern that my family ate while I sat there with nothing. The comparison? A nearby restaurant once comped the ENTIRE meal for my family of four after a delay in just one of them--not even a messed-up order. That's what caring about customers looks like. Here? I practically had to beg for my refund on food I NEVER even got to eat. I wish I could also take the tip back. $100 dollars meal for 4 is an incredible price abuse for a piece of crap. So, congratulations Vista--you've lost not only me but anyone I've ever recommended your place to. Frankly, my family and I won't be returning to Vista. I'll also be sharing my experience with others who, like me, once cherished your Driftwood Burger, so they're aware of the changes, especially on Sundays. Sunday brunch is a disaster, the food is cheap and poorly made, and the staff couldn't be bothered to care just one bit. You took something great and replaced it with mediocrity. I'll be sending everyone I know to one of the many better-run, customer-focused restaurants nearby.You made bad decisions, and you've earned the bad reaction. This picturesque brewery is worth the drive from the hustle and bustle of Austin. You will feel like you're a million miles from downtown but it's really just a beautiful 20-30 minute drive out to Driftwood. Every year they host Outside City Limits, a family friendly festival with live music on 2 stages, a local market (think handmade soaps, succulents, and vintage wear), food, and, of course, their healthy selection of beer. Some of my favorites are Dark Skies (black pils), Destination (IPA), and le Saison (French saison). They really have something for everyone! Vista is one of my favorite breweries. The beer is great, the ambiance is a great mixture of modern and outdoors. However, the reason for the review is because I am a fried chicken sando connoisseur. I keep a detailed chicken sando ranking list, and Vista previously HAD my favorite chicken sando in the greater Austin area. Great balance of moist chicken thigh, crispy breading, and a semi spicy Asian slaw. Now, unfortunately, it is a smaller, more basic chicken breast sandwich with mayo/ranch, lettuce, pickles topping. Not terrible, but definitely not having cravings for it or having dreams dancing in a field of these sandos. I don't know who drove the request to change something that was perfect, but I'm guessing it was an act of pure domestic sabotage from Chik-Fil-A, McDonalds, or HattieBs. This place can be great but it's hit or miss. First, lack of QR code ordering from tables makes it a pain in the ass to order especially if you're hovering in kids zone. If you're a mom and dad, one person must walk nearly 100 yards to stand in line to order, while another has eyes on kids in their area. Long, slow, and annoying. The brunch menu lost some awesome items like its quiche and chilaquiles. No longer really brunch. The chicken tenders had an amazingly complimentary honey mustard that made it addictive now it's replaced with a salty dill ranch. Doesn't go nearly as well. The wings were wonderful, as were the fish and chips. The scout burger was dry unseasoned with a hard bun and a disappointing experience for $18.00. The bartenders inside were lovely. We sat outside and the waitress who delivered our food was not a hospitality oriented person. We asked for salt and pepper which she said they did not have. She rudely told me that I should have told the bartender I was sitting outside so that she knew where to deliver the food. I had told him and even if I had not this is not the way you treat customers who are paying a ton of money for food and drinks. Her tone and attitude were so rude and unfriendly that I will be cautious about returning and it really put a damper on the evening (as all rude service does). I would suggest better training for your younger staff members. All the other staff were lovely. read more

Super impressed by Vista Brewing! We visiting on a whim of needing to get out of the house, and ended up there during the Outside the City Limits Summer Concert Series. It was insanely busy, and we had to wait a long time to order plus for our food, but totally understandable. Once we got to the front of the line, you could tell they were swamped, but still gave a couple of good recs. I still gave it 5-stars because the beer and food really made up for it. A few of us stopped by Vista Brewing after a morning at Hamilton Pool Preserve. I recently saw an ad or a post about Vista Brewing on Instagram and we thought it looked like a good spot to stop by afterward, before heading home. It turns out that it was the Driftwood Heritage Festival that day. This meant that there was a limited menu. I don't remember if I took a photo of the limited menu for the day, but I do remember thinking the food portion compared to cost was a total rip off. A long overdue post to sing Vista Brewing's praises! We hosted a baby shower in the Barrel Room and it was exactly what we hoped it would be. For starters, Emily is AMAZING to work with. She is so passionate about her job and made planning fun (which is so rare!). The room is beautiful and all the little details of the space made it so easy to decorate. Vista is nestled in the hill country so the overall vibes are bright and whimsical. The staff was wonderful and kept the room free of dirty plates and empty cups which created a good flow during the 4 hours we were there. The food is BOMB. We got a few snack and slider platters and it was the perfect amount of food for 20-ish girls round lunch time. Also, Vista sources most (if not all?) of their ingredients from local vendors which I LOVE -- they support and cherish local growers which is so important! Anyways, I don't write reviews often but felt like this place deserved some love. Planning baby showers (or any event for that matter!) is stressful, and working with Vista Brewing brought back the joy of celebrating. :-) read more

Came here on a Saturday evening, was pretty easy to get a reservation and their patio had tons of open space. They did a great job of enforcing masks when people aren't seated at their table and made it easy for us to keep distance while in line. Their beer selection is very diverse, so I opted for a flight in my first round. I was pleasantly surprised they allowed you to include their more expensive barrel series in the flight which made the 4 4oz pours for $12 a great deal. While those were tasty my favorite was the dark Pilsner, for such a dark beer it had a more mellow, malty flavor than you would expect. Food wise it was fairly typical brewery fare, but the $1 hunks of watermelon really hit the spot on a hot August evening. If you're looking for a brewery a little outside of Austin to escape the city for an evening I'd definitely recommend checking them out! read more

Female owned business that welcomes everyone! Thursday night date at Vista was wonderful. Great selections and very friendly service! Tap room has a modern design with live edge bar and nest chandeliers. The outdoor space is very inviting with barrels, string lights, small music stage, and gorgeous oak trees. There is a small music stage for live music so we will definitely be back. And a second visit is a must to explore the walking paths to the organic farm. The website advertises 21 acres to explore and it would be nice to get away from the road noise. But where sneakers because the paths are a little difficult to walk on (Beerburg has a soft, cushion like path that is perfection). The kitchen was closed so I can't comment on the food options. Overall a nice, relaxing visit and we got our Barks for Beers pawsports stamped. read more

We happened upon Vista Brewing on their 5th birthday party weekend. They had raffles going on and a free drink for all guests. They have a garden bar outside and a bar inside. All of the beer we tried we enjoyed. They have wine too for the non beer drinkers. The inside seating is super modern with gorgeous windows. We went with the BMW club and I was looking forward to our visit because of their website. Well, it was NOTHING like the website! First of all, the road to the place is HORRIBLE. Huge dips and holes. It is not paved and I know some of our club had a hard time getting down the road. It was all caleche dust and rocks! Not to mention it was packed and 104 degrees. I can't believe people take their kids there! The walk would be horrible for little ones. Secondly, the place was jammed packed with people, dogs and kids! Outside there were no walkways. Just dead grass and rocks. The tables were all warped and no thought to the comfort of the customers. We waited for a while and finally ordered. They were going to have to change out the keg on one of the beers and they totally forgot to bring us the beer until we were done. The two beers we tried were very good. The Stout and the Triple. The fries were good and the fruit salad was okay. Thirdly, if you were expecting this farm to table, beautiful venue experience, then you will be disappointed. The road deserves a -5!!! With all of the numerous breweries in the area, I would not visit this establishment again. read more
