Of course it's a little pricey for what you get (both the beer and the food), and they sell out of things which is why I took off a star since the one thing I came to try was actually sold out that day sadly... but the schnitzel hot dog I had wasn't bad. Overall you come here for the ambiance and music, anyway. I'm sure they do beer tasting/tours, but we didn't sign up for that. They also have a very large gravel lot that fits everyone fine -- we got a parking spot within a few mins of arriving despite how busy it was.

The brewery/restaurant sits on over 20 acres in hill country. Large, clean, and modern interior with large outdoor seating areas and patio setups. Picnic tables, fire pits, etc. The food is good, gang. Love the grilled sausage board and the cheese board (all local cheese). Soft pretzel & cheese also super good. Lots of other items in the menu that look incredible. Sunday brunch too. Farm to table. The pours...oh, the pours. Excellent beers! I love the black pilsner (Dark Skies), the chocolate notes come through in such an aromatic and roasty manner. The pale ale (Driftwood Pale Ale) is the perfect summer pour. It's light, crisp, and refreshing. In addition to the regular pours, they've got a lot of seasonal offerings too. They also serve wine/wine cocktails and n/an options. Spending a day in hill country? When we were poking around looking for breweries in the area on Yelp we came across The Shady Llama! This place doesn't make their own beer but they have lots of guest taps for breweries in the surrounding area. It's a good variety of beers to choose from and it looks like there is at least one food truck available sometimes in case you get hungry. The main draw for why we came here was to see the llamas and indeed we dis see some. One of them gave us some attitude and then sauntered off down a hill, taking it's less moody companion with it. They were funny and with the attitude I got and the name of the place I posted the Eminem song "My Name Is" where the lyrics "Slim Shady" get mentioned on Instagram because I thought it was all quite fitting. In addition to seeing the llamas we saw a great view of Hill Country. There was a lot of seating when we were here and could pick pretty much anywhere we wanted to sit. But I'm sure the place can get busy... the location and those llamas are reason enough. Cold beer, moody llamas and beautiful Hill Country... definitely worth the stop!

We got one of their flagship beers, the McConauhaze which was a New England style IPA. It's obviously referencing Matthew McConaughey who went to college in Austin (but is originally from the San Antonio area). Lots of Austin folks make references to the actor. In the flavor profile for this beer it is juicy, citrus which contributes to a strong overall flavor but is yet smooth with this hazy. It's a nice solid beer overall. The location for this brewery is great, large place and it's in Hill Country.

While the tasting flight gave me a deep appreciation for the spirit on its own, I found that sotol truly sings in cocktails, where its earthy elegance can mingle and unfold alongside bright, bold flavors. The on-site bar offered a handful of inventive, locally-rooted options, but one drink in particular bloomed on the palate like a cactus flower after rare desert rain: a Prickly Pear Margarita. Vibrant, jewel-toned, and ever so slightly wild, it balanced sotol's herbal backbone with a sweet-tart burst of prickly pear and just enough lime to make the whole thing sparkle. We'd never been, so we decided to give it a try. The property is spacious, with plenty of seating options. We expected the band to be loud, so we chose a spot farther from the music. My dad uses a rollator and had no trouble getting around the property. My dad and I had the fuzzy lemonade, while my husband tried a few of their beers. They have a limited selection of snacks, but there's also a food truck. Our experience with the food truck staff wasn't great; they came across as a bit rude. I don't hold that against Ghost Note, though. The brewery staff was matter-of-fact rather than especially welcoming, but they weren't rude. Overall a nice Sunday and we will be back.

There were 4 of us, including someone who was disabled and using a wheelchair. The brewery was pretty busy, we visited on a holiday weekend. Despite this, we easily found a spot outside at a picnic table. There was live music, a chick and her guitar, she was absolutely fabulous! Not crazy bad just be cautious as there are crossing deer and other animals that can dart out at any given moment. Also, it's a country backroad and they're not known to be the smoothest. Wasn't bad at all, just want folks to be aware. I love this winery so much that I didn't want to leave. Everyone working was so much fun and so helpful with decision making. We chatted them up and got to talk dogs among other things. I went with the Starry Night (sweet Prosecco) and loved it so much now that I am at home I wished I bought a bottle. My boyfriend had a hazy ipa from Driftwood Brewery as well as a glass of Albariño (dry white). Both were amazing. The vineyard and winery grounds are nothing short of gorgeous. Beautiful and relaxing Hill Country scenery for as far as the eye can see. I was so relaxed sitting outside with a gentle breeze, the sunshine, the view, and my glass of sparkling that I didn't want to leave. Our dog who originally hails from Hill Country was right at home and had a blast on the grounds. We spent over two hours relaxing and taking in all of it. Definitely plan to return. There was not enough time to go on a wine tour, so I had to figure out which winery to visit. I wasn't familiar with the area and randomly chose Driftwood Estates, which was a surprising highlight of the weekend! Was this real life?! Was I dreaming?! Standing on top of the hill, I was in deep admiration of the panoramic, gorgeous, and breathtaking views! It made me forget about busy city life and I only wanted to appreciate the beauty of nature and all its glory on such a perfect day (while sipping on a glass of wine)! I really did feel like I was in another world - filled with serenity, solitude and relaxation! We did a tasting and enjoyed the reds, which were more on the dry side, but I didn't mind because I prefer dry red wines. I definitely recommend the Sangiovese and Alamo Red. The bar area was a little crowded that day, so we didn't get to interact too much with the staff to learn more about their other wine offerings. There is a store next to the bar area. You can buy cute wine themed souvenirs for family and friends back home. They also have a small cafe - you can get some light bites and head outside, find your perfect cozy spot, and enjoy those breathtaking views! (Caution: There is plenty of parking at the winery, but please be careful and drive slow because of the bumpy gravel road).
