Great first visit! Me and my husband needed to get our prescriptions renewed and we stumbled up here the recent good reviews convinced us and decided to go early Thursday(today) to see if we could get a walk in appointment to which we did. Since the moment we walked in we were greeted and welcomed! Tina was great from the beginning and very informative! Made sure we knew everything and allowed us to ask our questions and answered them all politely. Dr.Tsegai was great made us feel more at ease with conversation while still informing us of our results definitely the best doctor we've had! We also had another assistant help us with applying my contacts and payment and he was great as well! (I'm sorry I'm forgetful and forgot your name ) but over all this clinic and all of their staff made the switch to a new office smoothly and not awkward at all! My experience with Texas Eye Center has been amazing. After moving and switching insurance, I needed a local eye doctor to renew my contact lens prescription. Despite some old negative reviews, the recent positive ones, especially about Dr. Bereket Tsegai, convinced me to book an appointment. I made my appointment online, filled out the new patient forms, and planned to call to confirm my insurance. Before I could call, they reached out to confirm everything--great start! When I arrived, technicians Tina and Yareli were welcoming and had very positive energy. The clean, modern waiting area and exam room made me feel comfortable. Dr. Phillip, who sometimes fills in for Dr. Tsegai, did a thorough and efficient exam. She answered all my questions and gave me a strong sense of confidence in my new prescription. It turns out my old prescription was too strong for my eyes, causing excess strain on my eyes when transitioning from near to far. I thought I was just getting old! I mean, I am, but what I thought was my eye site deteriorating with age was actually a bad prescription from my previous doctor. Another win. I was sold at this point. When I thought this visit couldn't get better, I was then met by the office manager, Charles Nicholas, to try on my new contacts and go through ordering, insurance, payment, etc. This is usually where the eye doctor visit gets awkward, as I am used to a hard sell on glasses and other products I don't want. But Charles was incredible to work with. He was transparent about costs and extremely knowledgeable on how to navigate insurance. It was one of the most honest, comfortable, transparent, and informative conversations I have ever had with a healthcare professional. In short, Dr. Tsegai and Charles fixed whatever issues led to old negative reviews. The customer service at this office was top-notch, and I'm thrilled I happened to give them a chance. I took Gary Decuir to get his eyes checked last week. Gary really likes Dr Bereket. We drives 59 miles to see the Dr. because Gary thinks he is the best. Our second year of going there. This place is a nightmare. Went for a lens fitting and decided to use my insurance to order glasses. They gave me 2 different prescriptions of contacts to try, but somehow ordered my glasses?? Ok with which perscription?? Paid on the spot and waited a few weeks for them to come in. At pickup, the frames broke while they were being adjusted. I was told I could take the frames with me because they had the same frames coming in the next day, then come have the lenses swapped out. I came in and the frames weren't there; they say they'll call me. Called me to say I need to send photos of the frames to them. I decided to drop them off and let them deal with it. I hear nothing for weeks. I finally call them and they say my glasses are ready & as a courtesy they'll order me some boxes of contacts in my prescription. Come in to pick up my glasses and SURPRISE there's a balance of $75 for the contact lens fitting I allegedly wasn't charged for. The customer service here is terrible. They're short with clients and not friendly. At no point was I given a copy of my prescription in the 5+ trips to the office. They broke my glasses and took no responsibility, absolutely careless in their follow ups, and borderline rude. I regret ever coming here and dealing with this business. read more

Had an appt for my daughter this past Saturday which is the only days I am available, so I'm appreciative the office is open on weekends. The staff is very pleasant, didn't have us waiting long before the Dr. saw us. Great communication skills from the Dr., took the time to answer all our questions. I've been having some eye pain for two days so I made it upon myself to get checked. I don't have vision insurance due to being a member of America's Best. But because my OD left the company it became worse so the service was not to par. So I took it upon myself to research for an affordable but reliable clinic. I came across this and called them. Customer service through the line was helpful and patient. I like to ask questions! I got to the office and the lady asked me if I had at least medical because my visit would be considered that. She was on the phone with insurance for like 30-40 Minutes and I didn't have to pay! Now to the visit itself. The OD was hands on. He was thorough in the routine and explaining everything medically and in laments term. He knew right away what my issue was. He sat with me and went through other possibilities and so forth. He was also not rushing the process and not BSing. I recommend the place. It's about a 25 Minute drive from my place but worth the service. read more

This was not a good experience for me. I went here last summer. From the moment the eye doc came in she acted like, why was I there. Well everything is blurry!! Duh. I knew I was going to get the wrong prescription because when she asked which was better 3 or 4 I said neither. She just ignored it, blew it off and gave me the prescription. This past summer I yelped an eye doc and found diagnostics eye center and drive far to get there. The eye doc there found a pituitary tumor 3 cm large. This place could have found it last year, but she ignored me. Partially my fault for not going back but life gets busy and I didn't want someone to act like. Why was I there again. I went to the Texas Eye Center to get an eye exam and I usually get contacts and glasses cuz I always like to have the contacts his backup for this year was a total nightmare when it came for me to finance my glasses I was told that there was a plan that was suitable for me that was reasonable and that it would be taken out of my account every month after deciding to go with a plan when I got home I checked my email that's when I found out that the plan that I was suggested by letting him Lori was not a monthly plan but a weekly plan and after calculating the math I found that I was going to pay three times the amount of what the my glasses will cost at the office so I can cancel the contract and call the office and said hold off on my order so I originally went with the finance company I dealt with the past so I went into the into the office I told them specifically that I was dealing with the old finance company I dealt with in the past saw put the down payment for my glasses and told them specifically to put my wife's glasses on hold I pay my deposit so I can get my order in and a week later my wife's glasses came in before mine when I asked why was hers first and mine no one could no one can tell me so I had my wife called and she was told and in order for me to get my glasses I will have to pay for hers first I called the office and I started asking questions about my glasses no one could give me a straight answer sorry we passed and then I was informed that the frames to have that I had picked would not fit my prescription like I told the person the another lady that was there if the person helping me should have known my lenses wouldn't fit that certain prescription she should have told me she shouldn't have to wait a week to tell let me know so I went back into the office to pick another set of frames I waited another week and then what happened is when they when they did call me what they use they use the pre-cut lenses from the first frame on the second one didn't even make it fit right by this time I'm so fed up I asked somebody the office manager to call me nobody called me I had to actually make a call to the doctor and talk to him I went in on the Monday and this is the 3 weeks I don't look hey I'm running out of time I don't got no glasses they're going to start taking out of my account can you give me a set of contacts for backup for the meantime I'm being that I work contacts he should have known as a special formula cuz I have two different prescriptions what he did was just give he just gave me contacts with my prescriptions of my glasses that's not going to work for me you should know better than that as an optometrist you should know you can't give contacts with the same as prescription cuz they're different like in my case I have two different Visions I need one one stronger than the other so I can read I don't know this experience with this glasses has been a total nightmare I had no resolving the issue and when I finally got my glasses they just try to hand it to me they didn't send me down for a fitting read more

I originally chose Texas Eye Center for my annual eye exam based on three things: 1. My insurance was accepted (most all insurance types are accepted) 2. Hours of operation (I could make a Saturday appointment) 3. Location I just recently moved to Houston, and previously, I had used the same eye doctor since I was a child. My experience at Texas Eye Center was exceptional! Dr. Moses and his staff were thorough, friendly, efficient, and patient. The entire process from the moment I was greeted, through the pre-exam, eye exam, selecting contact lenses and frames, and payment was a positive experience. Both Dr. Moses and his staff explained everything in detail, asked questions, and gave honest feedback. I felt comfortable, and they were definitely patient-centered throughout my appointment. For example, Dr. Moses had me try on the contacts he planned on prescribing, and then reexamined my vision to ensure the best correction was selected. Also, I wasn't necessarily planning on purchasing frames that day, but they were offering very reasonable specials, so I felt it was well-worth it. I plan to re-visit again next year, and I will refer friends and family when the opportunity presents itself. read more

Will never return to this place! Total rip off! Went in to get a must needed pair of glasses, couldn't decide on a pair of frames I wanted so the person attended to me said I could wait till the my lens were ready to decided then. After hearing nothing from the Texas Eye Center I called after 2 weeks to see what was the hold up. The person who answered said my glasses were ready and ready for pick up. I was confused on how they could be ready if I never picked out my frames. Needing my glasses I was just happy they were ready. The office then called me back and said the Dr. wanted me to pay 200.00+ for a pair of frames I never picked out! I questioned the office about the total I was being charged, never received any help. I then called my insurance and they stated there was nothing they could do since they already covered their half of payment. So now I have no glasses (bought a pair at Walmart instead) and lost my credit with the insurance. I now have to wait a year to receive my next credit. So this office billed my insurance for a pair of glasses I never picked out and never received!! Now I know why they never called me, they were sending in a false billing statement to my insurance!! read more

Nothing against Dr. Moss, who was both professional and friendly, but in 40+ years of wearing eyeglasses I have never dealt with such incompetence when it came to the sales staff. They got my order amazingly wrong after I tried to explain what I wanted two or three times, even after I called in another saleswoman to try and clarify the situation. When I came to pick up the botched order the saleswoman laughed at me, turned her back, and walked into the back room without any offer to try and remedy the situation. I will never return there again and am going to report them to the Better Business Bureau. read more

First visit for basic eye exam was good only until the next visit when the doctor asked us to get the allergy test. I was told that the charges will be covered by my insurance although I told them I have a high deductible limit. The front desk receptionist checked our insurance and made a few calls and said that we just had to pay only 30 dollars. Only to our surprise next month we were asked to pay $ 125 as the insurance refused to pay them. It just does not feel right to keep the patient uninformed and lure him to get the services based on false (wrong) information. When i called later to resolve the issue..they said sorry we cannot do anything since the service has been provided and signed the documents now you have to pay $ 125. Total disappointment especially when we are new in the states.. feels like we were looted and ripped off. Advice: make sure that you get everything sorted out before you take the services. I am definitely not going there again. read more

Wanted to use their Groupon deal for $59 for an eye exam and credit towards a pair of glasses but wanted to pay for it with my insurance credit card. I called to see if I could get this deal through Texas Eye Center instead of Groupon because my insurance wouldn't accept a charge through Groupon. The girl I spoke with over the phone was extremely rude and unhelpful with this request. When I tried to explain what I was trying to accomplish, she very quickly replied "what do you mean?" like I was bothering her or wasting her time. I then explained to her again and she simply replied "no." So I went ahead and cancelled my appointment. She didn't have any helpful suggestions or anything, in fact she sounded happy I was canceling my appointment. Very unprofessional and not a way to get new customers. Pretty disappointed considering I took the time to stop by Texas Eye Center last week to see if they might have a pair of glasses I would be interested in, which they did. My husband also came here about 2 months ago and used the Groupon as well and really liked the customer service that time. I was looking forward to being a customer here. I find it pretty weird that I can't get the same deal as Groupon just because I would like to pay for it with my insurance credit card. There should definitely be a way to do this. read more

I went to see Dr. Moses on a whim, no previous experience with him or any of his staff members. Never have I felt more at home at an Eye Exam than at Texas Eye Center. Dr. Moses was very thorough with his exam and explained everything to me in layman's terms. From the minute I picked up the phone to make the appointment to the minute I left the eye center it was tier one service. I will continue to have Dr. Moses as my eye doctor his staff even helped my father whose glasses were sliding off his face to adjust the size of them. Dr. Moses is great but the assistant he had at the time didn't really know how to use the pupil measuring device. They had to remake my glasses multiple times and I eventually gave up on going back and flushed a couple hundred dollars down the drain. The problem was with where they placed my pupils in the lenses which created an underwater sensation when wearing the glasses and they were too strong, and after the fourth try of making them which took five months, I gave up and haven't worn them sense. If you have Spectera insurance they'll have to ship your glasses somewhere for the lenses to be cut which causes any delays or remakes to take much longer than normal and they . Overall the place is clean and Dr. Moses is great but I can't really recommend them if you have Spectera given the complications of remaking them if there is an issue. read more
