I just did my LASIK surgery today. Such an easy seamless experience. I was only there for a little over an hour. The surgery took about 10 minutes and I haven't experienced any major side effects yet. Dr. Wright did a great job at making me feel comfortable throughout the procedure. In all fairness, the staff were wonderful. The whole process went really well and quickly and I had the best person to check out my eyes. I'm sorry I forgot her name but she was wonderful but Dr. Wright didn't spend two minutes with me and I had some concerns because I have Sjogrens. After I left, I thought of several things that I would've liked to have asked him and now I'm afraid I won't see him again before surgery. I've always had excellent care at this clinic and the people are very friendly. It's the only place that gets my prescription correct. My only issue is that when they called me to schedule an appointment I scheduled on the day they suggested. After the appointment when I sat to get a new prescription, they checked my benefits and told me I was there one day early for my plan to cover it. (Yes, I should have checked when I was there last, but I assumed they had done this before my appointment). I received a bill for the full appointment and my insurance wouldn't work with me (Spectera through UHC) even though I had paid for the insurance all year and it was the only time I had used it, they wouldn't budge on paying the bill. My advice... do not assume this clinic verifies benefits prior to your appointment. read more

I waited 20 minutes, and probably 10 people.. I checked in 15 minutes before my appointment time.. watched people check in, sit down for less than 2 minutes and were called in for their appointments.. I had to go up to the desk and say something before anything was done.. they offered to comp one of my exams.. I sat back down, watched a lady and her child check in and get called in right away... I then watched 2 other gentlemen, get called in for their appointments... I ended up leaving... such a bad experience. Don't purchase your glasses from this clinic. Ordered glasses with magnetic clips. Waited two weeks for glasses to arrive. (normal time typically) Got a call that my glasses were in. When picking up the glasses I realized they had not delivered the sunglass clip and did not install the magnets on the lenses to mount the clip. They informed me that is would be anther week to get the glasses corrected. Stay away and find another clinic. read more

It's been officially one month ( and a day-- if we're really counting) since I've had lasik surgery. I really wanted to wait to see how everything turns out to finally be able to give my thoughts. So first, I love that you're able to communicate with a representative and do scheduling online. I was able to get in for my consultation the same day. Because they were able to have me come in the same day, I thought it'd be empty-- oh I was wrong. The buiding is huge and there were a ton of people waiting. Because this was a free consultation, I thought I was just going to a conversation with the sugeron, he takes a look at my eye, and then we call it a day. Oh I was wrong. This place did the whole 9 yards-- a ton of testing and imaging with the tech, then the OD came and looked at my eye-- we talked and did some more testings, and then the surgeon came out, after looking through those imaging done earlier, tells me I am a good candidate for lasik and he examined my eyes again. Another staff then came in and asked what dates should would I be available for the surgery, and she answered a bunch of questions I had because I was so nervous about it. The day of the surgery finally came and as I was walking, one of the staff actually saw me and pulled me into the right building-- (they have two essentially one side for lasik, the other main for regular exams, etc) I was so surprised she even saw me, but it really shows how attentive the staffs over there are. I have to say, because I'm such a foodie--(hello, Yelp) I love this building a little bit more. They have a bunch of snacks and drinks for you and your designated drivers to munch on while you wait. Anyways, I get called in and I'm here still having major anxiety and the staff were so sweet trying to calm this mess of a wreck down which I very so much appreciate. The whole procedure took like 7 minutes. The worst part of the surgery is seeing the actual blade going through your eye but you can't feel anything because they put numbing drops on you and there's these things to hold your eye open. I was given an antibiotic drops, another drops for dry eyes, and a pair of shields to sleep in for the next 5 days. I had 3 post-op appointments total: the day after surgery, one week after, one month after. I recovered fine, just still having dryness. My right eye had some redness for about a week but you couldn't see it unless you were holding my eyelid up. The first two days or so there were some fluctuations(?) with vision. It'd only happen after waking up and it'd take a good few seconds to a minute for me to see-- was actually crazy to feel. Overall I had a very pleasant experience with Mann Eye! Every single staff that I had interacted with, whether it be the receptionists, the technicians, the ODs, surgeon-- everyone was great. The number one thing for me will always be customer service and when that lady that saw me heading towards the wrong side of the building and guided me in; that immediately just made so many points up. The only thing is that could be done better though-- while I know there are a ton of ODs in this building, I wish I could've seen one OD from the beginning to the end; just so that they know the history or rather journey. At the consultation it was one OD, right before the surgery begins was another OD, my first two post-ops was with the same OD. Now my third post-op I thought it was going to be with the same OD given the scheduler told me how Dr. Hann wouldn't be in on a certain day so I had to go in on another day, only to be seen by another OD in the end. No big deal because I'm used to seeing new ODs each time I come in. But it did bother me, the fact that I went out of my way to come in and be seen by her specifically and that did not happen. It was weird because I didn't even specifically request for her, because again, I am used to being seen by different ODs. The scheduler just told me how Dr. Hann isn't available on that original day I wanted and booked a different day and gave me HER buisness card too...so it just made it seem like all of my post-ops will be seen and done by her, but guess not. Another thing that would've been nice is if the surgeon could've checked up on the recovery process at least once. I saw him at the consultation and at the surgery day and that was it. read more

I had a great experience with the LASIK procedure and highly recommend! The only regret is not doing it sooner! Jerminee is absolutely amazing and is there with you every step of the way. The consultation was completely free and there was no pressure to make a decision. They have financing option if you're concerned about that. All the staff is very friendly and helpful. I just came from laser surgery at the Mann laser center in Sugarland. I was referred there by the physician in Katy . I'm I am just calling( I just got out of the surgery 1 hour ago). The whole world looks more beautiful , much more beautiful!!!!! Of course the service was spectacular, employees at each step in the process were professional, competent, and very friendly. I went to Mann Eye Institute because I had cloudy vision. The doctor at Mann Eye Institute prescribed eye drops. I went to pick them up and put my credit card and paid. The pharmacist then told me "you are lucky your insurance covered some of the $120 for the eye drops"...$120 for eye drops???? I was floored but too late I had already paid. What doctor prescribes $120 eye drops for a senior citizen on a teachers pension....NOPE THEY DID NOT TELL ME IT WOULD BE EXPENSIVE That is ludicrous $120 for eye drops. Not only did they loose a customer BUT I will be talking about $120 eye drops for a very long, long time... read more

On 3/24/2025 i went for an eye doctor appointment, the doctor ordered me prescription glasses, which I ordered there for $699. The person from the optic just ask me to pick a frame and took some measurements, a week after they call me to go for the glasses, at home I try the glasses and were so heavy hurting my nose so badly, I called them after a review on facebook and they told me that they can replace them for a different ones. I went again and the lady from the optical show me a lighter frame and took me the measurements again, Again I went to pick up the new ones and I tried them there, i told the lady that didn't feel comfortable and she said to try for a week and if not I can go back. After a week I went again to adjust them and the lady took them to the back and after she said they need to replace the temples and i have to pay more than $100 for each temple, i ask her why if is not my fault, she said again ok $75 because of the warranty, after that she went back to the office and again new thing, she said the $75 Is because we need to replace the whole frame not only the temples, and i say ok because I need them, I went back days after to pick up the glasses again and i ask them to show me the new frame first, but the lady brought just the temples, I ask her you guys make pay because you need to replace the whole frame, i told her fine fix them, but again she came back and told me that I need to came back because the weren't able to to fix it, i told her that they need to deliver the glasses again to my house and that's what the did. But now after so long a terrible traumatic experience with them my glasses are really bad, worse than before and there is not such a thing as about customer satisfaction with manneye, I lost $699 with this glasses, my time and my peace only for a place like this with no ethics at all, please avoid this place, Nobody deserves to be scammed like this. They deserved zero . A place with satisfaction guaranteed should refund all the expenses to customers. I totally regret to go to this place. Getting someone on the phone to talk to is extremely time consuming. Customer service is poor. The 3 separate occasions I called to schedule appointments took 15- 25 mins to even get scheduled which is way more than it should if someone even answered the phone in a timely manner This place does not communicate their policies and won't provide me with something I paid for because of some made up policy I'm hearing of for the 1st time. They want to charge me more money to pick up contacts because it requires a consultation. The 1st consultation didn't go well with my son since they barely spent any time with him and was unsuccessful so they want to charge me for another consultation because they couldn't accommodate my son's school schedule to see him. read more

It has taken me a very long while to write this as I've been in disbelief about my experience. RLE surgery on both eyes done by Dr Melton in Humble. She did a phenomenal job. However, my after care was by Dr. Turk at Westgreeen location. She is AWFUL and doesn't know what she's doing. She put me on 4 different prescription eye drops because my eye pressure was elevated and I had extreme blurry vision and it was getting worse!!! Each time I went in she increased the dosage for all eyedrops!! She then began telling me I needed Lasik over my RLE surgery. I got in contact with the surgeon Dr Melton and told her what was going on with Dr. Turk. Dr Melton sent me to a specialist at Retina Consultants of TX. That Specialist very slowly tapered me off ALL 4 prescription eye drops. And NOW my vision is PERFECT!!! it was not necessary to have me on so many eyedrops. Dr. Turk messed up on that one. I'm so glad I didn't listen to her and go and try to have Lasik. I will never recommend Mann Eye to anybody. I did recommend that type of surgery to someone, but I told them they should go to Berkeley. They went and were very happy with BERKELEY!! read more

This happened back in August/September but I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. I had scheduled a consult for the first week of August for a chalazion removal, and was called the next day and told that I don't need a consult since I'm so sure I would like it removed and they can guarantee my procedure for my visit. So I scheduled for their next availability three weeks out, took off from both my jobs, and missed class. ONLY FOR IT TO BE A CONSULT. To top it off, my appointment was at 12:55 and I wasn't taken into the room until 1:40; I was then told the doctor would see me in between LASIK appointments because I guess I'm not important enough to warrant an appointment for myself and saw the doctor for a grand total of 3 minutes. I don't know if this is a communication issue or what but I feel absolutely disparaged. After the appointment the steroid eye drops the doctor prescribed did not help at all, in fact, my lower chalazion became TWICE the size it was before and I couldn't blink without pain (this is after doing it 4 times a day for the full two weeks as instructed). Despite the fact that I told the doctor that it constantly becomes inflamed again despite me going through THREE rounds of antibiotics, he chose not to listen to me and made it worse. I was told by my previous two optometrists that if I didn't surgically remove it, it would continue to become inflamed, which I relayed to the doctor who still didn't care; imagine being that negligent about your patient's health. I've tried explaining to several different receptionists that this is an urgent matter and my eye is now leaking some sort of liquid, but I guess that's just not enough to be seen the day of, I wonder what they classify as a medical emergency. This has to easily be my biggest regret in a doctor ever. I ended up having to go to someone else (Amina Malik at Houston Eye Associates) and she's religiously removed them every time they appear because she understands they don't go away. I want to warn people that if you're hoping to go in for anything other than LASIK, look elsewhere. read more

He said that I had great cornea thickness and I was eligible for LASIK surgery. I asked him what my thickness of my corneas were. He said that it was around 570-580 microns. I asked him how much of my corneas would be removed after LASIK, he wouldn't know because he was not the one performing surgery. That was understanding. I then talked to LASIK consultant Madison. She talked to me about everything but when I asked about how much would be taken from my corneas, she did not know and said that she would check with my surgeon. Long story short, I came in next day to talk to my surgeon, Dr. Wright, he told me not to worry about the surgery too mich but couldn't give me the number. After surgery, I came in today because of my concerns, and talked to Dr. Turk, she gave me the number of my cornea thickness that I had left and how much they took. My right eye cornea is 344 microns and they took away 115 microns. So basically, I used to have 459 microns. Why are the numbers different now? I was told that I had 570-580 microns. Jeremy, the manager, told me that I don't have to worry about that number but only care about how much I have left. That was not an explanation. That was an excuse because you guys lied to me. I understand that you want people to have LASIK for the money, but I would not consider surgery if I knew I only had 459 microns of cornea thickness. It's my personal preference and I was lied to but still did not receive and apology. Jeremy, on the other hand, said that he could release my patient chart if I wanted to but there would be no back and forth regarding this issue. I'm no surgeon, no manager, but I'm a patient and that's how you talked to your patient who just paid almost $5000 for the surgery? I had lasik 2 years ago. When I was choosing my prescription (if that's what it is called) I was unsure between two choices, as one still seemed to have a smeard vision affect. I felt I was rushed to choose and they assured me that chosing the right strength is no big deal because they will just do a quick adjustment to the lasik if the smear/blur doesn't go away in time. I just went back for the adjustment (within my 2 years of included service with no extra fee) and I was informed that an adjustment is a huge risk, much greater than the first lasik treatment, and it is not usually recommended. I felt rushed during my initial consultation and was overly reassured that the adjustment was no big deal. When I brought it up in my appointment yesterday they said that they absolutely can do an adjustment, so I was not lied to...it is just a huge risk. When I asked for the doctor what the risks are she told me the same as last time but a greater chance of problems. I told her I do not remember all of the issues presented last time and asked if she would go over them with me and she literally told the girl at the desk to write it down for me so I could go home and Google it. Dr. Wright was my original surgeon and I liked him. He did not rush me, it was the female doctor. This time, Dr. Burr, the female, is the one who rushed me, told me it is my choice but to go home and Google it, and bullied me into leaving with no information. She also told me I should not decide to do this just because it is covered because making a decision based on time and money is not a good choice. I told her that all of our decisions are made based on time and money and she basically gave me a dirty look. She told me I would be better off to wait and then pay the full price again so I can make a more informed decision even though she refused to inform me. I would never recommend another person go here although the surgery went well, I am now stuck with vision I did not choose and was rushed into. Dr. Wright was fine, but the institute seems bad. Get a second option and be sure you are certain when choosing a strength. While it seems like common sense, we all trust and listen to the doctors. Upon my research, I learned that it is not recommended to get an adjustment unless you have had 5-10 years to heal. In addition to this, I want to mention that my healing was very slow (through no fault of the doctor) and my follow up appointments were changed at the last minute twice. I was unable to make the last one when they changed it. It was an 8am appointment they changed to 10:30 am as I pulled into the parking lot. I understand things change, but when I could not reschedule for the same month due to work, I came later and they made me pay for the appointment out of pocket. read more

The Staff is nice but my experience with Dr. Paul Mann performing my Cataract surgery was not a good experience. He put the wrong lenses in both my eyes a week apart. The doctors are great and the overall service is good. But the check-in process is ATROCIOUS ! every other person has to get a walk thru of the checkin process because it's incredibly confusing. The system requires you to agree to pay for services you don't want - it does not provide an opt out option. Last year I had a torn retina and had laser surgery to repair the tear. As a result of the surgery, it was anticipated that I would develop a cataract and I did. My optometrist recommended Dr. Brian Wright for cataract removal and lens replacement at Mann Eye Institute. From initial consultation, surgery, and follow up, Mann Eye Institute has been outstanding! Staff is friendly and I was always seen on time. Very professional. My initial visit was a series of 8-10 different machines to measure every aspect of my eye. The surgery itself was done just south of downtown at 8am. The surgery was so easy and involved 2 steps. The only drug used was a Valium (in hindsight not even needed). My eye was number with drops. Step 1: you looked into a camera type lens at 5 red dots, a single red dot moved around your eye. This went on for not quite a minute. Essentially a laser that liquifies your old lens (made up of proteins). No pain at all. Step 2: I then walked to another room and a second machine was used. Again looking into a machine (head was made immobile). Less than 2 minutes later, a laser had made an extremely small cut, old lens vacuumed out and new artificial lens inserted. Again zero pain or feeling. A clear plastic protector on eye and dark sunglasses, I was home in total less than 3 hours (including drive to center). Eye drops 3 times a day and follow ups next day, 1 week, 1 month and if needed (I didn't) 6 months. I could see the first day, and daily my eye got better and better! In weeks it was 20/20 and now even better. This eye hasn't never had good vision and I have worn glasses my whole life. How I just need weak readers! It is truly miraculous.... Dr. Wright and all the technicians and receptionists were professional, informative and I had no issues! read more

Went in for a yearly exam with Dr. Manalo. Arrived on time for the appointment and they kept me waiting for 40 minutes and then spent the majority of time with the tech which was fine. Spent perhaps 10 minutes with the actual doctor. When I left I was presented with a $185 dollar bill. My insurance doesn't cover any of this. The cost of a regular eye exam at my optometrist is $60.00! Asked why this was more than twice as much and was told that they are specialists. They asked if I wanted to book for next year and I told them that I will not be coming back. I am a senior and I felt overcharged for $120.00. I recently had the idea of getting my vision corrected after many years of wearing glasses and I sought around many of the different places that offer the service. I was astonished at the amount of places that offer this treatment so it was a daunting task to narrow the selection to one clinic, but I knew that Mann Eye Center has been around for years and I knew that they were experts in the field. I was a bit nervous at first, but I called and set up my initial appointment to have my eyes checked out and to see if I was a candidate for the Lasik procedure. I was greeted and assisted by a very kind and helpful individual by the name of Tina D. who was so attentive and kind that the feelings of nervousness I had all but disappeard. The initial appontment took me through an array of machines that checked my eyes out for different measurements and so forth. I was set up for and addional appointment to go into some further exams that were required. Much to my surprise I found that I had cataracts in both eyes and that the normal Lasik procedure would not be an option but that I would need a diferent procedure. I've been a customer of the Mann Eye Institute for many years. First in Humble then their old Katy location. I have seen several doctors and have been happy with every single one. Last week I had to take my 6 year old in for his first full eye exam as he failed the one at school. He's ADHD so I was not looking forward to this. The new location is beautiful! What a change from the run-down building they had an office in before! It appears they build their own building at Westgreen and Kingsland across Westgreen from Taylor High School. There is plenty of parking right in front of the building and a beautiful rock fountain. The lobby is so nice and the revolving door was rated thumbs up by my 6yo. The optical assistant took us back and was very good with my son. She took the time to notice he was "cheating" on his eye exam and peeking when covering his eyes. After having his eyes dilated, we waited in a nice waiting room before being taken to another exam room. The doctor, Dr. Chin, who I have seen before with my kids was excellent. She was very patient with my son and made sure to double check everything so he receive a very accurate prescription. I had another doctor's appointment later in the afternoon and didn't have time to wait for the optician to pick out glasses since there were a couple people in front of us. When I told the receptionist I was disappointed I couldn't use them (I don't live in Katy but Cypress) the optician overheard me. She told me when I could come back and when she could accommodate us better. When I explained we didn't live in Katy, she said she would recommend someone so we could get taken care of. My experience with the opticians at Mann have always been excellent and I didn't want to get ripped off at another place. I trusted her and went to the other business. What can I say? She sent me to someone she had worked with and I was so pleased. They were pleased that the lady at Mann referred us to them and they took care of my son. I got an excellent deal on glasses for him. What business today is willing to take care of the customer by sending them elsewhere. First off, the doctor's are top-notch, all of them. I've been buying my contacts through Mann for about 15 years and now take my 3 kids and husband to them. They've dealt with testing a child for color blindness to a tear in the cornea for my husband. I scheduled a consultation back in March and was also looking into Berkeley Eye Center as well. Needless to say, I did not get the warm and fuzzies from Berkeley and called Mann Eye to get my LASIK surgery done in August. The team from the time I had my consultations to the time I walked out of the door from my surgery have been PHENOMENAL! If I knew of another word to describe this, I would use it, but the customer service was on point! Tim Daniels was honestly what sealed the deal for me. He took the time to explain everything to me during my consultation, answered my questions, put me at ease, and took the time to have a conversation to get to know me. As most would feel, getting laser surgery on your eyes is pretty intimidating... I mean... those are your EYES! You kind of need those to see... but I was definitely less anxious after speaking with the Mann Eye team here in Katy! My initial consultation was done by Dr. Paul Mann's team and Dr. Paul Mann himself came in to take a look at my eyes to make sure that I was a perfect candidate. The day of the surgery, it was A++++++++++++ service! From the receptionists I spoke with on the phone prior to me coming in, to the prep team on the day of my surgery, to Dr. Mann himself... I definitely felt I was a GREAT hands no matter how nervous I was! To be honest, they treat you like a friend and have a GREAT sense of humor! How else are they supposed to keep calm? The friendly and professional staff and doctors of Mann Eye Center made my LASIK experience simply wonderful. From the consultation to the surgery, every step of the process seemed effortless for this team of experts. I just completed my LASIK procedure at Mann Eye in Katy. The staff was knowledgeable and responsive, and made me feel confident from the initial consultation. I fully researched my options at Joffe Medicenter and Berkeley Eye Center, but still decided to have the operation at Mann Eye after comparing. The only downside is the pricing, which for me was about $500 more expensive than the competition. However, I am beyond pleased with the service and results. Ashley, the LASIK patient consultant, is a superstar at her job! She answered all my questions and kept constant communication. Dr. Wright is friendly and precise, and did an outstanding job on my eyes. I see more clearly than any time in recent memory (even with glasses or contacts)! The morning after the operation, I remember having cereal on my living room sofa, and being able to read the tiny clock on the microwave in the kitchen way across the room.
