Berkeley has been our go to for eyewear for years. Although the ophthalmologists have changed over the years, we have developed a great relationship with the optical department. I received great service at Berkeley Eye Center. my appointment was a free consultation for lasik eye surgery. Olga Ramirez was a very thorough counselor. I literally left without a question to ask. Consultation was fast but I felt that all information gathered was accurate in comparison to my actual Eye Doctors findings. I'd say the ONLY disappointment was not hearing from the Surgeon himself. He approved my surgery but I never saw or heard from him directly. A bit strange, but maybe that's normal procedure...?? This is a customer review of the glass store linked with Berkeley Eye Center. I have been a long time customer of Berkeley Eye Center for over 15 years. After my annual eye exam, I would go to the connected glass store for new glasses. My experience was good over the years, but not yesterday. I went in to seek help in refitting a nose support that fall off my Oakley frame while I was on an overseas trip. Their technician John first complained that the silicon nose piece that I bought online is too difficult to fit, when I asked him to use Oakley's nose piece, he said that he has to charge me $10 to order. When I said that the frame is under one-year warranty, he said he can give me a generic nose piece. I agreed because I don't have time to wait for god knows how long to order. When I asked him also to re-adjust another frame's nose support （which was also ordered from this glass store and adjusted there about a year ago）, he complained that my glass is too thick that can cause the nose support to break if he adjusts it. He asked me to adjust it at home. When I politely asked if I could use his tool in hand to adjust it in the store, he flatly refused. So I used my finger to adjust it and it worked without breaking the glass. The overall experience in the store with this John is not good to say the least. His pompous attitude is unbelievably arrogant. That is what I had not seen from other staff at this store. Hope you don't run into this guy at this otherwise friendly store. read more

I have had so many issues with my eyes, from 2 retina detachments, one in the left eye and the other in my right, then cataract surgery, all of this happened after I had already purchased my glasses and contacts with very high prescriptions. Leslie and Julie have helped me out with all of the prescriptions I've had to go thru and even helped me with my exchanges. I have been coming to the Katy location ever since my wife had Lasik eye surgery to no longer wear contacts. From seeing how everyone took care of her I have trusted Dr. Davis and Dr. Bertrands team with my eyes as well. Today I visited on 9-27-21 and was a little early to my appointment that was supposed to be at 1:45PM. I actually finished around 1:40PM with my appointment then checked out the sunglasses. Dr. Davis's team were able to see me within 10 minutes of getting there and took get care of me from the front receptionist to everyone in between. They are the most caring and thoughtful group of ladies and gentlemen anyone could ever asked for. The front staff is very friendly and they are definitely an asset to Berkeley Eye Center. I do not remember everyone's name who were working there but know everyone who was there from 1PM to 1:40PM were amazing!! If you are hesitant or have had bad experiences with other eye places this place and the people are on definitely master's of their craft. The office was very clean and they were wearing mask and made sure everyone stayed safe!! They treat everyone like you are a member of their own family. Trust me when I say you are in good hands. I had eye surgery scheduled and they did not call to give me my out of pocket cost until 5 days before surgery. They never tried to call my husband, whose number was down as the payment person. We called back as soon as we got the message (early the next day) and they'd canceled my appointment. They lied saying they called when they hadn't. I have call logs. They would not admit it and continued lying saying I didn't give an alternate number. Since I'm unavailable during the day I always tell them call my husband. Dr Doe seems nice and was going to make it to where I could see again. I am 43 and losing vision rapidly. I'm disappointed as Dr. Doe was recommended to me by several people. We are filing a complaint, though, as their clerical practices are questionable at best. read more

My 83 year old mother who has glaucoma is a patient at Berkeley and has had cataract surgery. She's very pleased with the doctors, but the staff and nurses are another story. As of today, mom has been waiting one week for a refill on her glaucoma medication. She called and left multiple messages for a week and the nurse finally called her back and said a refill would be called in. They didn't call the pharmacy and here we are again, trying to call. You can have the best doctor in the world but if their staff is incompetent you won't get good care. This is a pattern. On another occasion I had to drive over there to leave a message after not receiving a call back for days. You don't ever get a live person when you call. My mother continues to wait to get her medication which prevents her from going blind. That's horrific care in my opinion. read more

I made an appointment her to get a chalazion removed, after searching High and low for a great surgery center that could perform them quickly and affordably. I called a few other places around Houston, but they were all booked out for over a month (probably considering things just opened back up after the pandemic). But Berkeley Eye Center had availability within the month, so I got my appointment in the books. The center itself is huge! There's actually a few different parts to the center, a surgery center and also the Eye/Vision Center. I was super nervous about getting this done, but the staff were all very kind and made me feel very comfortable with everything. Once I got into the surgery room, the nurse was very sweet and made sure I was comfortable before everything happened. Like I said, even though chalazion removals are very quick I was extremely nervous since I had never had it done before. Once the doctor came in, he was really kind and made me laugh to help get rid of my nerves. Him and the nurse both explained exactly how the procedure would go and what I would need to do for the healing, as well as went over other options in case I didn't want the surgery. The removal itself literally took seconds, and the doctor explained what he was doing the whole time. He also asked how pain was, in case the anesthesia wasn't working. I felt very comfortable! My eye healed up really well, and I had no complications. I would definitely recommend this place for any eye surgery! read more

THEY DONT CARE FOR YOU!!!!! It is unfortunate that I selected Dr Doe. The entire process was like a joke to him. He is most certainly condescending. I explained to him that his office staff was sending me other patients emails and that by consistently over booking that his staff could not keep up with his patients in a personal way: was after my 1st surgery. My second surgery was even a bigger disaster. They refused to get my post surgery eye guard and tape that would be needed after the surgery right up until the moment I was going into surgery and only then because of my continued insistence although I had reminded them numerous times days before that they had failed to get them to me. My vision isn't something I can live with as now I am see double everything, but Dr Doe will not call me back no matter how many messages I leave for him nor the office manager $8500.00 later and they do not care that I can't see!!!!!! I have to close one eye to keep from getting double vision and nausea. I finally went to collect my records since Dr Doe and the office manager refused to return my call so i can find someone else to clean up his mess and when I went into Dr Doe's office his front desk handed me a different patient's paperwork. I tried to explained that I was female and they had performed my cataract surgery and that the paperwork she had handed me to sign was for a male who needed glasses. She "for real" told me "I don't care" "sign this paperwork or you will not get your records". I signed it and asked for a copy, and yep(!) She gave me a copy of the another patient's paperwork!! I have asked for Dr Doe to call me so many times and he has yet to return my call!!!!! JUST SAY NO AND FIND A CARING DOCTOR! I still see double and although my vision wasn't clear before I did not have this issue. Shame on you Dr Doe!!! You truly do not care about what a mess you made of my vision. read more

Great team of eye doctors and optical technicians. My only complaint is in regards to their hours of operation. They close at 5 pm Mon - Thur and at 1:00 on Friday. They are closed on weekends. Makes it difficult for us working stiffs without having to ask off from work even if you just want to purchase glasses. read more

I ordered glasses on June 25, then went back the next to day to cancel. I was told the cancellation was accepted and the salesman John would do the refund to my charge card, $509. The credit card I used is auto pay. When I happened to look at my recent statement, it showed the charge by Berkley, because they failed to process the credit. I immediately drove to their office to complain. They directed to John, the sales and I told him I was never refunded the $509 when I canceled my order and he replied, I don't know anything about that? He looked up my account and acknowledged the credit was never issued to me. He processed the refund then. I reminded him that I paid interest on that charge from June, for 2 months. He said, I can't refund you that, you'll have to ask the creditor to do that. He never apologized for his error of not doing the refund for over 2 months or apologized to me for having to physically drive there to see it was handled and he also refused to give me a copy that the refund was done. I called the credit card company, the charge was reversed but I still had to pay $18 in interest. I will never use this company again. Poor customer service! read more
