HORRIBLE, do not go here you will risk being misdiagnosed. The staff was amazing though so no discredit to them. The Dr and the Manager (who over sees a few stores) lied to me to include a diagnosis that was 100% wrong. They need customer coaching on how to talk to people and treat people. You get one set of eyes how dare they do this to me. I nearly followed the order to schedule surgery, I dont need that AT ALL. This happened April 2021. read more

First, it has been easy to schedule appointments that fit my schedule. I called in with concerns about an eye infection and they were able to see me the following day without delay. Best eye doctor experience I've ever had. The visit was quick with no wait time at all. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Dr. Mona was kind and patient. When it came time to pick a frame I couldn't decide between two frames. They had a deal buy one get second half off. So I got both! The part I was the most impressed with was that they cut the lences at that very moment and I was able to walk out with brand new prescriptions glasses!! AVOID TEXAS STATE OPTICAL!!! I recently discovered serious errors with claims going back to 2018 and spoke with the 1463 TSO store manager about it last week. I was discretely told that they had "several" claims around that time that were processed incorrectly, most overcharging the customer and undercharging the insurance companies. I was informed that the employee responsible for processing these claims was no longer with the company and while they could not give me cash back, they could give me credit towards future exams and other services. The amount due me from 4 separate claims was about $500. I was informed today that Kim, the General Manager, would not give me credit for the incorrectly processed claims because "they were from two years ago" (only 1 of the 4 was from 2018; the other 3 were from 2019). She also said that the 2019 claims were correct, directly contradicting the information that I was given during a 45-minute phone call with a very knowledgeable insurance rep just a week ago. Oh, but it doesn't end there. One of the 2019 claims was for services rendered at the TSO on North Fry Rd, and guess what? That one was processed incorrectly, too!! Odd, isn't it, that the same problem occurred at two different stores?? Hmmm...is it REALLY just one incompetent employee? I advised the manager that TSO is accountable for these mistakes, not the employee they fired. Since when is there a statute of limitations for contesting a claim?? It's conveniently within the authority of the General Manager to impose one at his/her discretion. Wrong is wrong, and they know they are. This is white-collar greed and corruption, plain and simple. I am required to provide a star-rating for my review to be posted. Otherwise, they wouldn't even get that. I don't agree with giving gold stars to criminals. STAY CLEAR OF TSO if you don't want a potential mess on your hands. With leadership like that - or the lack thereof - you may find yourself writing your OWN warning to others when you get screwed. read more

I was hoping to get up to see a friend in Arlington but needed them done ASAP so searched on Google and found TSO right in my neighbourhood. Called them up to make an appointment and was taken care of from the booking to the time I walked in the door and thru the whole process. The team at TSO FM 1463 Katy location were impressive. First there was a warm welcome from Samira. After she checked me in, she did some routine tests prior to seeing the doctor. She did a thorough job of explaining each one. Next, I met Dr. Mona. She wanted to know more about the specific reasons that brought me into the visit. Once she found out my "compliant" she was able to identify my eye issues and correct them efficiently. Once my eye exam was completed, she introduced me to Chris. I'd consider Chris an expert when choosing glasses. I really had no idea which frames I wanted or what to even look for in a pair of glasses. He choose a few of them and helped me figure out which looked the best and made me feel confident in them. He also took the time and was very patient in answering any questions I had regarding the add-on options. Although the office verified my insurance, I wanted to double check my coverage and ended up no purchasing anything at that time. I ended up returning to the store to place my order several days after. This is when I met Josie. I had a few more questions regarding the transition lenses. She made me aware that the transition lenses were not going to be like my Costa's but I may still find it very useful depending on how I plan on wearing my glasses. We went over the pros and cons of this option. I ultimately decided on the transition lenses. I haven't received my glasses yet as they were just ordered. Will provide an updated once I have. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a friendly, highly effective place for exam and frames. The prices are very competitive. read more

I recently moved to Texas from NYC and unfortunately lost my prescription glasses a few months after moving here. I did my research on several optical stores and finally decided on this place. I wasnt sure what to expect but when I arrived, I was greeted right away and taken to the back to perform my eye exam. The doctor was extremley patient and warm. After the exam one of the employees named Shawn helped me pick out glasses and he was extremely patient with me. I had my glasses made here before covid-19. My old glasses worked fine for reading, but I wanted an updated look. The customer service was great, everyone was friendly; although the glasses were on the pricey side I went ahead and made a purchase. When I got home and began using the glasses I discovered that they did absolutely nothing to improve my vision while reading. They warned me that when I was using my computer I would have to sit a certain distance away from my computer: no matter how hard I tried I couldn't find a distance that worked. Unfortunately, too much time passed between picking up the glasses and attempting to return them. After nearly $700 I returned to my old glasses. read more

Customer rep was awesome--got me exactly what I was looking for, made great suggestions, gave opinion when asked. Atmosphere, incentive programs, pricing and service was the best I've encountered in this area and market. I am in the sales/service business and I am typically very tough on businesses about customer service--I set the bar very high and expect the best. It is very rare that I encounter a business (especially in Katy and especially in health care related services) that provides truly excellent service and that meets my high expectations. Made an appointment for 2 people, but they combined it as one account, so I didn't receive any reminders or updates on my order. Assistant and Dr. we're fine. It was the 2 receptionists up front that made everything take a turn. At first the guy was nice and bubbly, until I picked my glasses he up and disappeared. No break down of charges were mentioned, he didn't ask what I wanted and didn't want added on, he added everything and gave me a grand total. After asking why it was so much in comparison to my last experience with TSO, he said "Well you picked name brand glasses!?" Come to find out they billed an incorrect insurance, but continued to argue. Another assistant, Delia, actually jumped in to argue on his behalf. My husband and I have the same provider and we had to ask 3 times for them to re-evaluate which insurance of mine they billed. I swapped out my glasses and he kept adding the charges, still not explaining. I had to lean over the counter and question absolutely everything he was writing down, and I continued to get an attitude. There was a 25$ charge and when I asked what it was he said "DO YOU NOT WANT IT?!" I again asked what the charge was for, and he said "it's your insurance, YOURE picking expensive glasses and you don't want insurance?!?!" I then told him that he never explained any charges and that is why I'm asking. He continued to have attitude, and sarcasm. He also took an hour and a half to add up all the charges, after I had to repeatedly ask what certain charges were for and made him remove them, which obviously made him more upset. It took about 4 tries before the charges were finally accurate, if that. Had to get the doctor and another assistant to help him. I told him upfront I didn't want blue light on my glasses and he said okay great when I handed him the glasses, but at the end when collecting payment he gave me a disgusting look and said "I don't know why you didn't want it that makes absolutely no sense" continued to roll his eyes, shrug his shoulders, and say he's never heard of such before. Delia kept standing over him, asking if he was done, rushing him and the whole process, when I asked for an explanation she would jump in and speak with attitude when nobody was talking to her, nor did she even know or care to understand what was going on half of the time before speaking. It was her attitude and the way she presented herself that kept making this experience worse and worse. Being a customer relations manager, I don't know how either one of them has a job in this field, especially being the representatives and face of the company. read more

The equipment kept fogging up during my exam which was distorting the results & when I told the Dr, she was overly upset when she told me to lower my mask because of "covid". She was insisting on taking photos of the back of my eye & when I kept saying no she was very pushy about it. I then did a contact fitting which was pretty much picking a color. Don't understand why I needed a second exam for my contacts if it's the same prescription. I went to the lobby to pick out glasses, unassisted. Out of no where, a receptionist with a major attitude came up to me & TOLD me, (not asked), "THIS IS HOW WERE GOING TO DO THIS- were going to charge full price for the glasses because your insurance will cover the contacts" I asked her to see what my insurance would cover the most of and I'll make the decision from there, she gave me a dirty look and said "I've already gone through this" to which I replied that I do this every year, & asked her to verify my coverage again. She stormed off, & I walked up to the other receptionist & handed him my frame, he said he would take care of it. After waiting for him, Delia came back out & asked if I wanted the frame. I followed up about the coverage of my insurance & she said she was still looking into it. After finally telling me what they're going to cover after all, I said that's what I thought, she threw a fit, arguing that that's what she initially told me she was going to do, which was a complete lie since she was insisting that I pay the full amount for the glasses and pushed for the TSO special instead of going through my insurance. She handed the other guy the paperwork & said "this is what he's getting" & walked away, again. He gave me a total that wasn't clear, so I started questioning him, since again, I was never properly assisted. That's when his attitude then changed & matched Delias. When I told him what I wanted on my glasses, he refused to accept it & kept asking why, even though I kept saying I want exactly what I had on all my previous glasses. After 20 minutes of unnecessary back & forth, the total still didn't add up. He went to the back, & came out with a different total that still didn't add up, both receptionists again walked to the back & came out with a 3rd total. I then asked for a full break down of all my charges, since they weren't explaining anything or showing anything. That took another 20 minutes. After going through the paperwork & finalizing the transaction, I asked if I would get demo frames or receive a new one, he looked at me stupid and said "OH NO SIR, we never give out demo frames" I asked if he was sure because these frames were damaged, & he swore by his answer. 2 weeks later I get a notification that my order is ready, but when I showed up my glasses & contacts were not ready & said there's no way I received a notification. Turns out my wife's glasses were ready but they sent it to my number instead. The gentleman specifically said my FRAMES were still on order. A week later I get a phone call that my order is ready. When I showed up, they handed me my Oakley glasses in an off brand case, & said the contacts were still not ready. Upon inspection, my frames had the same damage that I mentioned at the initial visit to the receptionist. Which tells me that ordering my frames was a lie & they did in fact use demos. When mentioned, they left & came back 15 min later & said I could either take the damaged ones or wait 2 months for new ones since they're on back order. I asked why wasn't it mentioned the first or second time I showed, all he said was "they should have. I'm not sure what else you want me to do" I found another demo on the board and asked him to switch it out, he said he couldn't even though it was the same frame so I compromised & told him to swap out the damaged arms being that I don't want to wait another 2 months, if that is even true. For people who are so worried about Covid & gave me attitude for shifting my mask during an exam, & yelled at another customer that was sitting away from people to lift up her mask(yes it was Delia that yelled) you're giving me frames that SEVERAL people have worn, they are not sanitizing the tables, or the glasses after people have worn them, they are putting it directly back on the board, since there is no one on the floor even assisting people. for 8 years I've purchased 1-2 glasses, sunglasses, and contacts every year, I've never been treated with this much disrespect. I've never been lied to this many times & I've never seen a worse set of staff from TSO. It's been 3 weeks now, let's see when my contacts will arrive & let's see everyone's attitude then read more

I had to come with both kiddos and that can be a hit or miss experience but everyone was great about accommodating all 3 of us in the exam rooms! I don't understand why it's okay to turn people away because of their inability to wear a mask. My family wears masks but unfortunately because of my health conditions I am unable to wear one. I had to step outside to speak to a doctor to explain that I have an appointment and that I am unable to wear a mask. The doctor proceeded to tell me that I am not allowed to be a patient there because her boss Dr Michael Reed does not allow patients in without masks. I understand the fear and the consideration for others but what about people with disabilities. Why do we have to suffer? We didn't place these disabilities upon ourselves. We've had to play with the hand we were dealt. I thought that when the mask mandate was lifted people who are unable to wear masks because of disabilities would stop being discriminated against. I guess Dr Reed and Texas state optical have developed a policy for discriminating against those with disabilities. How sad. I wish I didn't have to be a victim of my circumstances. I wish I could mask up with the rest of society but I can't. Where are the facilities that help those unfortunate enough to have medical disabilities? read more

We took our son to see Dr. Shulman for an 'emergency' appointment. She was amazing. Her years of experience helped to diagnose his issue. She got us a referral to see a specialist the next day. I was stunned that she even followed up with us a couple days after his appointment to see how he was doing. We were truly impressed by her knowledge, professionalism, and her dedication to our son.
