I ordered to have 2 eye frames refitted with new lenses. At checkout after the lenses were ordered I paid $830.20. Two weeks later just as I was going to pick up the 2 pairs I get a text saying I owe an additional $341.00. I checked the original order where I was debited $830.20 and found that totaled $791.20. So I was overcharge $39.00 on the original order. I went to pick up the 2 pairs of glasses and showed the $39.00 discrepancy to the clerk. She was very nice and went over the billing and told me that an $86.80 patient discount had not been applied. When I ask her about the text for an additional $341 she explained that that was the charge for the exam. I explained to her that I had been there in March for an exam to get my new lenses and that right in the middle of the exam the technician abruptly stopped and said I have cataracts and to go to the area for cataract surgery. I subsequently opted out of the surgery an returned this September for the new lenses. It turns out the the March visit was charged to my insurance and my September visit had been turned down by my insurer as they had paid for the March exam. The March exam was never completed as I was herded over to the cataract surgery department. I never got a print out for a prescription in March. The clerk took my information and said she would submit it to the billing department to update the charges. I asked if the billing could be resolved that day and I was told they would get back to me. Okay, today I get a text advising me that the revised amount I owe is $255.00. Apparently they applied $86.00 as the patient discount (the applied discount should have been $86.80) but did not address the original overcharge of $39.00. All in all this has been a lousy experience and I will never use Berkeley Exy ever again. I am so glad he I opted out of cataract surgery with this group as I find them to be totally untrustworthy. read more

My Dad needed cataract surgery and this location is convenient & works with his insurance. There were about three pre surgery visits to measure his eyes, figure out his prescription, etc. The day before the surgery Dr. Kaplan came in to review everything with us and go over the procedure. He was reviewing all our records and he noticed a piece of plaque blocking an artery that went in to the eye. Of course I'm happy he saw this prior to surgery. My Dad is considered high risk because he has previously had heart surgery. We had to see our cardiologist to get clearance for surgery. Dr. Caplan is very smart! You can tell within minutes of talking to him that he is great at his job & has found his calling! He & his staff interact with so much ease, respect, & professionalism it's like watching a difficult dance choreography. Honestly we cannot find anything that could have been done better or differently. Only recommendation we have for future clients is to schedule your appointment in the morning vs afternoon. And arrive early if possible. Great office, amazing Surgeon, very caring staff. Highly recommend!! We try to schedule our appointments early in the morning because they go much quicker than afternoon appointments. Plus the morning staff is excellent & very personalable. P.S. The staff are hyper efficient! I posted this review TODAY & they have already responded within hours of the review going live! read more

I had an amazing experience at the Berkeley Eye Center on Weslayan. To get LASIK surgery. From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel welcome and supported. My anxiety was extremely high -- so bad that I couldn't even put in contact lenses. Ashley, the counselor, took the time to slow everything down, explain each step, and reassure me about what to expect. She never made me feel rushed or embarrassed, and that meant more than anything. The nurses, Brenda and Briseyda, were just as incredible. They were patient, gentle, and very understanding about how nervous I was. They talked me through everything, checked on me constantly, and helped me relax when I felt overwhelmed. By the time we were done, I felt calm and confident instead of scared. Dr. Sun was exceptional during procedure. If you struggle with anxiety about eye procedures, this is the place to go. Their kindness, professionalism, and genuine care for patients really stand out. I'm very grateful for the whole team and highly recommend them. read more

Berkeley Eye Center makes everything from parking, surgery, annual check-ups and picking frames a breeze. Dr. Karlie Bonem is the best! All employees are very professional, courteous and helpful. The Optician, Michelle, who assisted me with selecting frames and filling my prescription was so well-informed on insurance and other costs. She was very professional, efficient, compassionate and courteous, helping to expedite the entire process, even saving me money while fulfilling my specific needs with night driving glasses. I cannot say enough good about this business and their entire staff. Thank you so much! Patricia V. read more

Recently I tried to call to set up appointments for myself and my wife. I received a text asking me to call from Berkeley Eye Center. I have called 3 times and was put on hold all three times. They never answered my call and the last time I was put on hold it went voicemail and I never heard anything. Surely, they can do better than this. I don't want to change eye doctors but when you can't communicate wto make an appointment what else can I do? read more

Dr. Sun worked on my right eye first and did a great job. Jennifer Galvan did a outstanding job helping me. Thanks too everyone

Rude staff and tried to charge me for a contact prescription that I refused multiple times.

This is a one stop shop so it's very convenient. I was able to receive my annual exam and purchase my prescription sun glasses in the same location. The customer service was delightful! read more

Everything went well with my appointment seeing Dr Caplan today. Everyone was pleasant, professional and helpful. Definitely the best place to go for eye surgery and vision. read more

I have been a patient of Berkeley for about 20 years. It has always been a pleasant experience. Yesterday, at a glaucoma check, my doctor suggested a minor surgical procedure that might help me but another doctor would have to do it. Scheduling with that doctor was difficult (busy doc) but, because of Medicare, I need to have the evaluation and procedure done by the end of the year. Anna, at the Greenway Plaza Office worked very hard to get me scheduled. She made several calls within the office and numerous calls to me to keep me updated. I have an appointment tomorrow morning because of Anna's hard work. I am so thankful for her hard work and kindness! read more

Free parking. Quickly processed and seen by friendly staff all along the way. I appreciated that extra effort was given to obtain accurate measurements before the cataract surgery. Front office, horrible experience with them. They are so rude. My mom had surgery a year ago, they have to have her back to surgery, they left a small strand of thread in her eye, since then she feels her eye not ok. read more

WOW I don't know where to start with the exceptional care I received at Berkeley Eye Center. I started the process about a week prior and had the procedure done the next week. The whole process start to finish was a breeze. Ashley was great scheduling everything and communicating with me with any questions I had. Brenda was so helpful and friendly helping me through the process and answering all of my questions and concerns. On the day of the procedure, the wait was slightly longer than expected but I didn't mind. I knew I was in great care. They checked my vision again, visited with Dr. Caplan and he reassured me that the procedure would go smoothly. When it was my turn to go under the laser, I became very anxious and started crying. The staff recognized my concerns and reassured me and comforted me. The procedure lasted no longer than 5 minutes. They reconfirmed my instructions for after care and said they would see me in the morning. I can't recommend Berkeley Eye Center enough. Amazing staff who genuinely take care of you. Thank you for my amazing vision now!! read more

This is my second appointment this year and the wait & accuse was the same. Both times, I waited 40 to 50 minutes from my scheduled time with the accuse that "we are under staff". Personally, I think this is BS. They over book; the lobby had 15 -20 patients waiting to be seen by technicians. The service was ok; they run so many patients through the office, I felted like cattle. Also, the staff did not recognize the delays in service and no apologies. I had seen two other doctors offices this morning; both were on time, friendly, personal and professional. I hope Berkeley can improve their services. read more

My family and I have been coming to the Berkeley Eye Center on Weslayan for years. Ms. Kim is extremely nice. Everyone makes you feel like family and not just another patient. We love Mrs. Michelle. She patiently listens and helps with selecting our eyewear! She makes us laugh. My children always say Mrs. Michelle is so nice and is the absolute BEST! We also love Dr. Bonem. She is amazingly awesome! I would definitely recommend her to anyone! She genuinely cares about the wellbeing of our eyes and how we're feeling overall. Thank you Berkeley for caring! Each of you ROCK!!! read more

Everyone was really nice here as was the eye doctor. The wait want too bad either. I used to only like older doctors but now I am ok with younger ones too as they're more up to date with the latest technology and advances. Our doctor for my kid was awesome (Ramirez). They were not push at all on glasses sales. I may knock a star off if they don't process the insurance correctly the first time (still waiting to see). I guess that's a rare thing these days. Hope they get it right. Free garage parking. read more

Great customer service and quality care. Bought my asses here. Will be coming back again.

The only center i wanted to do my surgery, and they were excellent and results were exceeded .

Everyone was amazing!!! My mom doesn't speak English and the doctor spoke Spanish as well as the staff and my mom felt very comfortable.

I had my LASIK Surgery approximately two weeks ago. My experience with Berkeley Eye Center was amazing. First person I made contact with was Ashley. Ashley is absolutely phenomenal. She was able to assist me with every question and concern I had before and after my Lasik surgery. On the day of the surgery the entire staff made sure I was comfortable before and during the entire procedure. The surgery was successful and I'm very pleased with the results. Don't come out thinking you're going to see immediately. It takes time for your eyes to heal and then deal with the sensitivity at night especially with bright lights. As long as you follow the Doctor's orders you will be just fine. This was the best decision I made in getting the LASIK done. I'm definitely a satisfied customer. read more
