While their website booking was down, I called in and was able to book an appointment within 2 days. Google Maps takes you to the right place - it's a small parking lot. Inside is a bright and welcoming lobby. My eye exam went smoothly and Dr. Nguyen showed me the images of my Meibomian glands, which indicated that I had a stye in both my upper and lower eyelids. No wonder the swelling was so bad... I was sold on a special moist eye compress mask and did not purchase any frames or lenses during my visit as I had to get back to work. The eye compress price was comparable to Amazon's. The office staff were even considerate enough to give me some sun filters after the dilation for my drive home as I'd forgotten my sunglasses. We chose Eye Impact appt couple of years ago and at first we thought they were great because of the reviews. We go there ONCE a year. Mr. Nguyen is amazing, but I couldn't say the same for the front desk. We just noticed that they have a double standard and they cater to certain people and treat certain individuals differently. Not going to get into that. I didn't see it then, but front desk is not as friendly as I thought. I see it now, after this incident I'm about to tell... I made our annual appointment for 2025 recently and had to cancel because the whole family got sick. I had an appointment for all 3 of us on the same day and I had to cancel. They usually were accommodating for my family. But, when I called to reschedule, I was told they no longer can do 3 at a time and would have to split it. I found that weird but-- I was ok with that. So I rescheduled and I usually make appointments to hold the date, then check with my husband if that would work for him. And usually it's ok. But I did mention to Marissa that I have to check with my husband and if it doesn't work, I may have to cancel. And for the past 2 decades I've been making ANNUAL eye appointments for my family-- this was the first time I've ever heard of a dental office telling me that if I keep canceling, we would need be on a walk-in basis. Her tone was condescending and I can tell she had a problem it. First of all, scheduling and rescheduling is your job! To accommodate customers. That was enough for me to not want to see them ever again. Nothing on the optometrist, it's all the front desk issues. So I called to cancel my appointment and informed Marissa that we will no longer continue to go to them. And all this woman said, "ok." That right there shows a lot. I came to Eye Impact annually for so many years for eye exams and spectacle replacements. I love this place because it's consistent with everyone's wellbeing. Especially during CoVid-19 Pandemic since 2020 and Delta Variant of 2021, they took good care of the employees and patients by following the protocols provided by CDC. I am very grateful for taking a few more steps to keep everyone safe before entering the store. I am used to calling from outside before entering a doctor's office. There is a limit of one or two customers at the same time. They don't check the temperature any more. But they ask customers to wash their hands before touching anything. They even installed a UV filtration system in the waiting room. (I am glad Amy D voiced her opinion about her displeasure.) Last year, I came to find out how to treat dry eyes. Since working from home, I spent hours and hours in front of computer monitors. I needed something called a "blue light blocker" as seen on the Internet. Dr. Nguyen recommended Zocular treatment and eye compress moist heat mask. I bought ZocuWipe and ZocuFoam. I like foam one better because I can control how much I use. These are all covered by FSA. I hadn't visited pre-COVID but I get the impression that this office is clean and efficient regardless. However, COVID times call for different measures and this office accepted the challenge gracefully. Based on my needs, I had to visit the office 3 separate days and each time they consistently provided good safe and clean customer service practices. I also appreciated the streamlined process with what seemed like more efficient equipment. There were no clunky or old machines that take up the space of an entire room which gave the impression that this team was current and providing up-to-date and accurate care. I had no billing issues which is always a plus and everyone was friendly each visit. There's even a cute pup hanging out quietly while you wait in the posh looking modern wait area. After my horrible time with a different Dr. in Houston, I finally got my insurance benefits reinstated and started looking for a new pair or glasses. Every area of the office was carefully thought out and nicely decorated. As soon as I walked into the office I was greeted by Hugo and Zea! They noticed I was a bit anxious with some of the eye imagining and took time to explain how everything would work and what to expect which definitely put me more at ease. Dr. Nguyen was extremely thorough and explained how they use the most innovative technology to image and test the eyes (I was grateful they have a new technology that does not require the burst of air on the eyeball). I only go to the eye doctor every couple of years, but when I do I will be going to Eye Impact from now on. Aside from being a great place to have your eyes checked out they have two dogs that hang out in the store you can pet while you wait. This bumps it from four to five stars for sure. The examinations are always totally painless, and I have never had to wait. Both times I have been everything went smoothly and I was out of there in no time. I have bought glasses both times. The first time I bought sunglasses, and most recently I purchased regular daytime glasses. The quality here is great, and I really like how crisp everything looks through my new glasses. They are really well made. The only downside here is how expensive everything is. My sunglasses were close to $500, and my latest glasses set me back around $250, and that is with insurance. While this is expensive, I do believe the quality is worth it, and my glasses were ready in less than a week. I have bought glasses elsewhere and they aren't half as good as the ones from Eye Impact. The staff is friendly and the place is efficient. While expensive, I won't be going anywhere else. read more

I have been getting my eye exam from Dr. Nguyen since 2013. The service is very personable and the practice is more than helpful with insurance and billing. The office also has the latest technology. I'm a procrastinator so I saw Dr. Nguyen a few days before the end of the year aka benefits were expiring for the year. I was able to make an appt a few days before. One year I didn't make my appt until a day before and I went to another practice and did not like the practice as much. The puff eye test for glaucoma was the older version and the exam and contact prices were comparable. The office staff employees has change over the years and sometimes there is a learning curve but the office has always made right. One year my contacts got lost in the mail and the office mailed a 2nd supply without waiting to tracking the original shipment. A week later the original shipment finally arrived and I returned the shipment to the office. Last year my Alcon rebate submission was hung up and Michael went above and beyond to get the rebate resubmitted. read more

Dr. Nguyen is great. I've been coming to Eye Impact for 3 years now, but the recent change in the front desk staff is what's causing me to write this "negative" review. Back when we first went, the whole experience was very pleasant, from the front desk folks to the appointment itself. Plus they have dogs in the office which is awesome. However, there have been some changes with the receptionist lately, and they haven't quite met my expectations in quality of service. I actually just got off the phone with (I believe) Michael, regarding a question about the difference between glass/contact prescriptions (I've always bought glasses from Eye Impact bought contacts were purchased through online vendors). When I asked about the needs for a separate prescription, his response, in an extremely sarcastic manner was, "well the contact sits on top of your eye..." Well thank you Michael for the great piece of information. I actually stopped him from further explaining because I didn't appreciate his condescending tone. Today my husband and I stopped by without an appointment to ask questions about turning polarized sunglasses into prescription sun glasses. Once you get there, you're really just reviewing the printed form. Super convenient. Dr. Nguyen came out to great me less than 2 min after I completed my form. He's very personable and has real human being social skills. He's easy to talk to, explains everything that matters, and it didn't feel like he was in a rush to get me out. They've got the latest equipment - no more awful fast air poof in your eye. No need to get your eyes dilated. They have a machine that captures pics of the back of your eye and then you can see them. Pretty cool. Pricing is pretty standard. My insurance covered the exam and then I had my allowance. Naturally, I picked $500 frames + year of contacts. Every time. I'm a recent college grad on a tight budget, so this was definitely the wrong place to go: they had a small selection of frames, most high-end designer, and were deceitful when it came to working with my insurance. Dr. Nguyen was very helpful and explained what he was doing before he did it. He was friendly and it was a fine eye doctor experience. But, they were AWFUL when it came to $$$. I have double coverage from both my parents and told Zea this over the phone when I made the appointment originally. (She took their information and everything.) But when I was there, talking with her about glasses vs. contacts, they LIED when presenting how much everything was going to cost. Zea later sent me an email saying "oh, just noticed you are double covered!" after my dad called complaining about me having to pay for the contact lens exam. If you're not rolling in the dough, stay away from Eye Impact. EDIT: I ordered glasses from my hometown optometrist using the prescription Dr. Nguyen wrote for me. The service he provides is patient, consistent, and thorough, and it is evident that he takes as much care in being a personal consult to your eye care situation (from contact lens recommendations to answering questions about corrective surgery) as he does in just simply getting your prescription right. I once complained about some stray eyelashes brushing my cornea that I felt were wicking my left eyeball dry. He personally addressed those for me with a set of tweezers and offered that as often as I wanted to come in he would take care of them. They dared to grow back, but in the end I decided they weren't causing that much of a ruckus. The office is equipped with state-of-the-art devices and tools, and it seems that the entire setup is thoughtfully designed to provide top notch diagnostics without sacrificing the least in patient comfort. I saw top reviews for Dr. Nguyen and Eye Impact so I immediately called and they scheduled me an appointment that evening at 530 pm to work with my late schedule (what doctors ever stay open past 4?!?!) The place is clean, charming, and the people there are amazing. Chloe, his precious dog will follow you around your visit and keep you company (if you wish). Dr. Nguyen used the latest technology and went over every aspect of the exam to make sure my eyes were as healthy as possible. He is very thorough and personable and educates you on everything you need to know. THEN after we found the best contacts to fit me and my lifestyle- his assistant spent the next half hour as my personal eye-glasses consultant. He gave me straight forward advice on the best frames for the types of lenses that I would need (and wasn't afraid to tell me what looked good-and bad) The only downfall is that it is slightly pricey however it is VERY worth it. You get what you pay for! Service like that has disappeared in today's society. It is completely worth it to me as a busy professional, to have someone stay open late and not try and rush me out the door despite the time. Another great thing to point out is that Eye Impact is open on Saturday! My experience: I was greeted one Saturday morning by Cleo the dog, who entertained me as I filed out some paperwork and looked at all the frames available. (I think I'm in love with the Eco collection.) Dr. Nguyen then took me into room #1 for some eye health exams (glaucoma, etc.). Turns out that Dr. Nguyen doesn't use the dreaded "air puff" machine! Fantastic news for people who hate, hate, hate that part of any eye exam. Part two of my exam was determining how much my vision had degraded over the past year and my contact fitting. Both were painless and Dr. Nguyen answered every single one of my many, many questions. I tried a few contacts and found some new ones that I really liked. Dr. Nguyen made sure that the contacts I picked were the best for my distance vision and would also correct my astigmatisms. What care! They also have really cool technology - a retinal scan option instead of dilating your eyes & a camera which takes measurements of your face for frame fitting! To be honest, it's been about 2-3 years since my last eye examination and thanks to Yelp and everyone's thorough reviews, I think I just found my new optometrist! Right when I heard there were furry friends here, I HAD to schedule my appointment right away. Dr. Nguyen kindly took the time to explain everything he was doing in addition to what each machine's purpose was, as we went through my examination. I could honestly say I was very comfortable and didn't feel overwhelmed with all of the fancy gadgets in the examination room. You can tell Hugo knows what he's doing because he picked out a few just by looking at my face shape which all pretty much worked on me. Dr Jenkins did my exam. Didn't push me to buy anything and was very personal. All their machines and testing systems are really up to date. They don't have the board to test your vision, they use a screen now. Even the glass-adjusting methodology was new to me too and I have been on prescription glasses since 11. They even offer taking pictures of your eyeballs so you don't have to dilate for an extra charge. I had another exam with a doctor on the west side more than a year ago and felt like she was cursory, didn't get my measurements right and my eyeball curve correct for my contacts. So you really get what you pay. That said, it's a boutique-y kinda optometrist place. I am keenly aware that I wouldn't have been able to afford being here without insurance (My glasses came out around 800-900 before insurance, anti reflective, high indexed, anti scratch). The 30 something bucks to avoid dilating is how much someone can spend on groceries for a week. I'm super happy with my pairs. The glasses are so thin, the frame is eco-friendly. I never enjoyed wearing glasses since my eyes are really bad and the cheap ones are always chunky, heavy, painful to my ears, and so thick that my eyes look so much smaller.
