Baskets of fun cases that you get to choose from (complimentary) after getting your new glasses!
Michael K.

I've heard about this optician being a favorite in the area. I needed a new pair of glasses so I stopped by Smith's twice, once to look for my frames, and another time to pick up my glasses. I think that this place is fantastic. I felt like I was in great professional yet friendly care when I was choosing my new glasses. They have so many frames, which is a great plus, but I really think that this place shines with their employees. I worked mostly with Carlos, and he was absolutely great in helping me decide on what kind of frame I wanted. He was very attentive to what kind of styles I was interested and disinterested in, and kept offering suggestions of frames until we landed on something that I liked. This hands on experience was great, as in a place where there are hundreds of frames to choose from, Carlos really narrowed it down for me. I paid for half of the glasses up front, and came back when they were ready (about 3-4 days later!) to pick them up. Picking them up was also a very great experience, as Rachel and Carlos helped me out make the frames fit perfectly on my face, as well as give me tips on good glasses care. I was complaining a little bit about the metal nosepads that my frame had, and Carlos went ahead and took them out and replaced them with silicon nosepads in shop on the spot! It felt great to be so taken care of, and I'm pleasantly surprised with the quality of my glasses for the money. All in all, this is probably one of the best opticians offices that I have ever been to. Smith's really makes you feel like your interests are being considered and you are taken care of. I highly recommend stopping by if you're in the market for new frames!

Oh, I love Smiths they have such great customer service. Carlos is great! I literally just love my frames. I was able to pick my frame and lens. Fast service I've never had prescription sunglasses before. Also fun fact they have the best prices for lens replacements.

I've never seen anything like this place. Not to be confused with not being able to 'see' but because Smith's Opticians really does stand out from a lot of optician offices. Most vision insurance plans cover glasses at least up to $150. Since the typical Pearle Vision, Eye Masters and Vision Source tend to market high-end, designer glasses, I end up still dishing out at least a couple bills for a "nice" pair WITH insurance. I mean, I wear these on my face, of course I want something that's cute *batting eyelashes*. Glasses that are decent, fashionable, frames the face well, inexpensive, sits on your nose correctly, etc.. Frame shopping is serious business! Thankfully, Smith's has made my decision much more difficult in a good way. My sister and I spent a long time trying on frame after frame. It was pretty fun. I managed to find a few that I really liked, turned my head at every angle making sure it looked good (I sound reeeeeally girly right now o_O). So I found my magical pair and I'm in love with them! I called to see how much my lenses would be with my insurance at an optical chain and they quoted me $96. Smith's Opticians charges $40 for a pair of lenses. What the fslkfld;samsk;dlak?! Albeit, they don't do the fancy no-glare, warranty or polarized-yada yada. I don't care for that stuff and I don't have an issue with my lenses thus far. I can seeeeeeeee! -In my best opera voice. Anywho, what I really like is that they have vintage frames in the back. FYI - It's not the type of place that sells up-to-date designer frames. However, if you walk to the back room they have 70's-80's frames. I saw old Dior specs for $75-$150. Seriously? I know people who would pay hundreds more for those so-called vintage specs! A good deal? Um, I think yes.

My fancy purple leopard cats eye glasses from Smith's Opticians. Whoo hoo!

THIS PLACE ROCKS!!!! I lost my glasses a month ago and have been wearing contacts. I came in here sick of dry eyes and looking for a pair of cheap replacement glasses. I'm pretty specific about what I wear, and definitely didn't want generic looking frames. I saw reviews for this place on yelp, and came in to look around, not expecting much. WOW! There were a ton of frames that were fun and funky and made from all over the place- like these crazy stained glass looking frames with wood earpieces made by some French guy named Michel and some mother of pearl/leopard frames made by some Argentinian company. They definitely try to find interesting and off the beaten path stuff. Frames ranged from $28 to $200 and there were SO MANY to choose from. Additionally, when I ordered the lenses, I was willing to buy more expensive lenses and the owner actually told me that for my purposes, all those little add ons like light weight and scratch guard wouldn't make that much of a difference. So I got these ridiculously fabulous cats eye frames ($119) and only spent an additional $40 for the lenses. And they look awesome. AND I came in this Thursday, was told they'd be ready by Tuesday, and they were ready early! This Saturday, two days after the order, I have my emergency glasses! If this sounds like they paid me to write this, don't believe me. Just come check the place out for yourself. Will try to post a picture now.

Considering my best friend (Carlos) works here, I have to give this place five stars, but I would anyway! Phillip knows everything there is to know about glasses (everything, seriously). I can always always find frames I love, and the prices! It's SO CHEAP. Like, amazingly cheap. I've suggested this place to a ton of people, and it's well worth it, I promise. The location can feel a little sketchy but don't worry. There's a lot with a few spots for easy parking. Recently, they sectioned off the store between modern and vintage styles, which is really helpful for shoppers. I also love the mix of people who come in the store. There's no specific clientele--everyone shops at Smith's! You'll feel comfortable there no matter what you're looking for, and if they don't have exactly what you want, Phillip or Carlos will find them for you and order them as soon as possible, and your order will usually be available in about a week. Also, the store now has a record player in the back with an eclectic mix of music, so have some fun! I love this place, and now that I'm back in Houston I'll be there all of the time (probably organizing the back room, hah). Can't wait to get more and more pairs of glasses! Definitely shop here.

While their website booking was down, I called in and was able to book an appointment within 2 days. Google Maps takes you to the right place - it's a small parking lot. Inside is a bright and welcoming lobby. My eye exam went smoothly and Dr. Nguyen showed me the images of my Meibomian glands, which indicated that I had a stye in both my upper and lower eyelids. No wonder the swelling was so bad... I was sold on a special moist eye compress mask and did not purchase any frames or lenses during my visit as I had to get back to work. The eye compress price was comparable to Amazon's. The office staff were even considerate enough to give me some sun filters after the dilation for my drive home as I'd forgotten my sunglasses. Overall, a very pleasant visit, about an hour and some change because of the dilation time for a new patient. Would come back again!

Mr. Nguyen is amazing, but I couldn't say the same for the front desk. We just noticed that they have a double standard and they cater to certain people and treat certain individuals differently. Not going to get into that. I didn't see it then, but front desk is not as friendly as I thought. I see it now, after this incident I'm about to tell... I made our annual appointment for 2025 recently and had to cancel because the whole family got sick. I had an appointment for all 3 of us on the same day and I had to cancel. They usually were accommodating for my family. But, when I called to reschedule, I was told they no longer can do 3 at a time and would have to split it. I found that weird but-- I was ok with that. So I rescheduled and I usually make appointments to hold the date, then check with my husband if that would work for him. And usually it's ok. But I did mention to Marissa that I have to check with my husband and if it doesn't work, I may have to cancel. And for the past 2 decades I've been making ANNUAL eye appointments for my family-- this was the first time I've ever heard of a dental office telling me that if I keep canceling, we would need be on a walk-in basis. Her tone was condescending and I can tell she had a problem it. First of all, scheduling and rescheduling is your job! To accommodate customers. That was enough for me to not want to see them ever again. Nothing on the optometrist, it's all the front desk issues. So I called to cancel my appointment and informed Marissa that we will no longer continue to go to them. And all this woman said, "ok." That right there shows a lot. Not wanting to know the reason and not trying to keep customers. It's sad that just because the front desk is a certain way, your boss lost 3 customers. No thank you.

Dr. Lee explained what her reasoning was for every step of the exam and tailored the exam to my needs with lots of communication, while her techs did a lot of the work so she could focus on interacting with me. I've never had such a quick vision exam before and I've been severely myopic since age 5. The clinic is also equipped with a lot of instruments that make routine exams quick and easy-- they can even tell the prescription on your glasses from simply examining your lenses. The fundus exam was painless and easy compared to past fundus exams I've had and for a new patient, it is free. If you plan to get a new frame at vision optique, they have a decent selection of frames of various styles, from Kate spade to Tom ford or Gucci, ranging from 200-400 dollars (at least from the ones I inspected). The clinic is located inside of a larger mall and they have 8 assigned parking spaces just for vision optique (several were available when I visited on a weekday afternoon). There is no bathroom on the first flooor and you must venture upstairs for it. I've been to many optometrists and rarely do I find one that is so professional and kind. At vision optique, your vision exam will be done in the blink of an eye!

I've also been in search of a new eye doctor. Marco, the gentleman that greeted me was very professional and very accommodating. I made the decision to set an appointment. Today I went in for my appointment, I called ahead of time to let them know that I would be a few minutes late. The staff once again was very pleasant and very accommodating. I completed the paperwork and waited just a few moments. When the technician asked me to come back to do the initial eye exams. The equipment was in an open concept area. There was a woman and man in a business conversation. The man's voice was very loud. The two people were clearly engaged in a conversation related to the business of this particular location and franchise. For the first exam, they were directly behind me talking very loudly. Making it very difficult to concentrate on what the tech was asking me to do and also making it difficult for me to hear her speak to me. We proceeded to the second exam, which was two part. Again, the man and woman were standing directly behind me having a very loud in-depth business conversation. Making it excessively difficult to concentrate on the particular exam for peripheral vision. I expressed my concern to the tech about how disruptive it was and how difficult it was to concentrate. She was very kind and apologized and offered me to wait until they finish the conversation. The man and woman proceeded to the showroom, but were still very loud and disruptive. I completed the second part of the second exam. I once again in a respectful manner expressed my concern over the disruption. And then I ask, is that the doctor? Indeed, the woman engaged in this conversation in the earshot of customers was the doctor. I was so offended by the unprofessionalism I let the young lady know I was leaving. I'm very disappointed that I was compelled to leave as I was prepared to buy a complete frame and lenses for regular glasses and I had a bag of design designer frames that I wanted to get new lenses for. The estimated cost for what I wanted to do Wood would have been well in excessive $2000. I am totally amazed, that someone in this position and level of education, would hold such a conversation in earshot of customers. It was clearly a conversation that should have probably been behind closed doors. Details about the business and productivity are not conversation that should've been in front of customers or employees.
