Gosh, I am shocked to see these negative reviews! I recently relocated to Houston from Denver for my job. The doctor was an absolute treat, and the young man who adjusts glasses, installs lenses, and I'm sure does much more, couldn't have taken better care of my issue with my old glasses--which I didn't even get from this office! At the front desk, the young ladies were so helpful. They were able to locate and order a pair of Gucci frames I wanted, even though they don't normally keep or display them. This office will definitely be my provider of choice for my time in Houston. read more

The doctor was absolutely amazing, if I was just rating her, I would give 5 stars. The front desk however, not so much. After weeks of realizing my contacts never came in, I went to the office and they were unaware they never received my contacts. They called the manufacturer and turns out they were delivered to the wrong state due to handwriting of office address not being legible. They were not immediately apologetic and brushed the mistake off, until I expressed disappointment. They reordered my contacts on June 2nd, and today is June 16th, still no contacts. I only know that bc I dropped by again as they did not give me a follow up call. I'm not sure if it's a bookkeeping issue or what, but it's disappointing the front desk has a lack of urgency and appears to be disorganized bc the doctor is probably the best I've ever been to, and I've had bad vision since a child. read more

Everything went well! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They offer a very very diverse selection of frames. There are plenty of styles, colors and prices to choose from. As if there aren't enough options, I was informed that many styles come in multiple colors, quickly shown on line. Prices are outstanding, and thoroughly explained, without me having to ask. Needing bifocals, and having choices of add on features, the explanation was much appreciated. Turn around time is the normal 1-2 weeks, but faster is possible. UPDATE: THIS BUSINESS IS CORRUPT!!! For starters, it took 6 WEEKS for me to get my REAL glasses when I was told they would be ready in 7-10 days. Tried to corruptly sell me the used display frames and when I called them out on some damage on the frames, that's when they told me they were the frames from the display. I HAD ALREADY PAID FOR THE GLASSES TOO! I was assured that I would not get the frames from the display and low and behold I did!! I called Dr. Amy 3 TIMES and left messages for her to call me about this. SHE NEVER WOULD RETURN MY CALL!!! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! They also DO NOT test your eyes in your new glasses before you leave. I've been wearing glasses for YEARS and I have never been to an eye Dr. that didn't test my sight with my new lenses!! THAT'S JUST LAZY BUSINESS PRACTICES!! Told me if I had a problem to contact them! No one sits down with you to make sure the glasses look and fit properly either! Dr. Nguyen is super sweet and friendly! I made an appointment for a Saturday and arrived a bit early since it was my first time here. It look quite busy when I walked in. I told the front desk I was here for my 1pm appointment. Immediately, one of the staff turned around and said Ann? I was impressed that she knew my name even though I have never been here. Turns out that was Dr. Nguyen! She looks so young. I thought she was part of the staff! Also everyone was wearing all black so I could not tell who was who. The usual check up routine was fast and the staff was friendly. I was in need of a new contact prescription because the one I was wearing was giving me headaches as well as blurry vision. I purchased their Yelp deal. $50 for $100 service and you pay $20 in person. So in total, I paid $70 for a contact exam. One of my eyes was worse than the other one so she offered me one option with the same prescription and the second option with different prescription for both eyes. I like that Dr. Nguyen gave me recommendations and provided pro's and con's. I got good advices on LASIK eye surgery. It was something that I wanted to do but she said I should wait for a while. So, I guess I will be coming back here to get my annual contact exam now that I know it's best to put off the LASIK. In addition, she also gave me a spectacle prescription (eyeglass) and my contact prescription. 2 for 1! Can't say enough good things about Dr. Nguyen. She made my first visit so comfortable and welcoming. We also had a nice chat here and there. I like the fact she was getting to know me on personal level and not just as a patient. read more

Want to express how disappointed my family is with a visit yesterday 1/20/21 at 5:00 pm) to our eye doctor who we have being visiting for more than 5 years. We never been mistreated so respectfully ...badly by anybody in our lives : that was our experience with this Lupe, one of the ladies in the front desk there. In fact never seen her before, thanks god. Lupe is the type of employee that makes you feel not go back to that business again and never recommend it again, as my husband and me did in the past with this office. This place has the worst customer service I have ever experience. Repeatedly they messed up and I kept forgiving because I like the doctor, however today was the last chance. Disappointed with the service and I would go anywhere else to get my eyes checked than this location. Below you will find my 9 reasons why. 1. Gave me the wrong contacts with someone else prescription. 2. Took over two months to get my glasses. 3. Finally picked up my glasses after two months and they were the wrong model. 4. They said that my frame only came in one color and the doctor blame the admin. Also the doctor went to trouble of showing me that the frame came in one color in the website. Gave me a chance to look at frames even though they were already closing. Which was nice of her. However I didnt want to be an inconvenience and feel pressure to pick something quickly so I told her I would come in another day. 5. When I came back, I actually found the glasses I previously order and if they wouldve checked my invoice they could've order them and save me the trip. The invoice said model and color. Turns out it was the same model but different color. 6. They said it will take a week to be ready, 2 weeks later I called them to ask if the glasses were ready and they said it was ready. Why didnt they call me? 7. I was running late asked if they could let me in if I am a little late (ETA was exactly 7pm) and I asked if they could leave open till 7:02pm. I am only picking up glasses. They said NO. I am mad and disappointed. 8. Meanwhile my sister order glasses the same time I did back in January. They gave her the DISPLAY FRAMES of Gucci glasses. Not a cheap frame. They were nice to reorder, and again they blame the now fired admin. 9. In addition my sister order contacts they said it was ready with her glasses but that was not true. After 30 mins of waiting the admin said they were never order. Okay that's nine reasons why I will never come here or recommend this place. I was willing to forgive 8 out this 9 reasons because I liked the doctor but they not wanting to wait for me was just the last straw. read more

I have made this place where my family gets their glasses because without exception, every time I have visited this office, it gets better and better. Example: during my visit today, the doctor remembered my children have a very interesting history with how they received their names. She had maybe heard the story once a couple years ago, but the visit was more like a catchup of old friends. It's a very easy process and because the care is so great and the people so genuine, it is hard to imagine ever going somewhere else. I also hope the other reviewers give the front desk folks a chance. They are regular folks just out here trying to do a job. Today one of the front desk agents came to work today with her car smoking from under the hood. She handled her business at work and kept it moving. I know it's only been a couple of weeks since my first review but my experience here is just too awesome, I HAVE to write an update!! I came back to Westside Eye Care to pick up my sample contacts that Dr. Nguyen had ordered. One of the assistants had called me approximately five days earlier to notify me that they're ready for pick up. I just didn't have time to swing by here until the weekend. Dr. Nguyen asked me if I had any issues with the pair of contacts that she had given me at the time of the exam (my prescription was lower) and for good measures, she ordered me TWO extra pair of contacts (one for the lower prescription and one for my old prescription). I told her that I had no issues whatsoever and so she gave me the two pairs that she'd ordered. She said, "might as well just keep them". AWESOME!! And at the time of the exam, she had also told me to try a new solution for the contacts (I've always used store brand). so she gave me a couple bottles of "pure moist" trial size. I told her that I could feel the difference between the store brand and the sample she gave me so she proceeded to give me another sample bottle. Oh Em Gee!!! Do you know how many eye doctors that I've been to who seemed to really hate giving me samples because they know I'd order my contacts online?? And they weren't anywhere close as attentive as Dr. Nguyen! She didn't pressure me to order my contacts from her. She said that if I'm ready to buy, I could just give her a call and then she told me that they price match any lower price that I could find. Now THAT'S what's up! All in all, my eye exam at Westside Eye Care provided me with these experiences: - Super nice and awesome doctor. - LOWEST PRICE that I've ever paid for an eye exam with the help of Yelp deal. Seriously; EVER!! - THREE pairs of contacts to try. - THREE bottles of contacts solution. - An Optometrist that I will keep coming back to for as long as I live in Houston! If you need to have your eyes checked, come here! This place was out of my way and I made the effort to come here (due to the deal) and I'm glad I did. Woo!! read more

I am taking the time to re-review Westside Eye Care because HOT DANG, they're absolutely amazing here. I spent three years selling glasses and am very picky when it comes to finding a good optometrist and optical. Once again, Dr. Nguyen and team blew me out of the water. So many optometrists don't take their time with patients, which leads to contact issues or eyeglass prescription remakes. Dr. Nguyen invests her time asking the RIGHT questions so she can find a solution that will work for you. And then there's the incredible optical staff. Monica quite literally popped the lenses out of her glasses so I could try them on (what?!), and Maria walked me through my insurance benefits and got every necessary authorization for my prescription eye drops while I was in the store. Wow. That is the service people long for and so seldom find anymore. If you are looking for an exceptional eyeglass experience from start to finish, don't walk but RUN to Westside Eye Care. So I had quite the dilemma, this morning I woke up and ran out of contact lenses. I had to use my back-up pair of glasses that I could barely see the street signs out of driving up to this place. Before I had called up a dozens of eye doctors to get price quotes on the exams and needless to say this one was a reasonable $70 for an eye exam and contact lenses fitting. Dr. Nguyen was very professional, nice, and polite. She got me my new prescription in no time and recommended me a better contact brand just slightly above the price I had paid previously. The associate helping was also very good as well. I also like how the office was very organized and clean. Overall, everyone made me feel comfortable for it being my first time here in this office and I would definitely return to get some new glasses next time. read more

After going to the same doctor for several years I decided to try another. I was tired of my old doctor pushing testing on me that I felt I didn't need. So I found this place on Yelp and thought I'd give it a go. The front area and rooms were very clean. They had a large assortment of glasses to pick from as well. The staff was a little flat the day I was there and the young man spoke so softly I couldn't make out what he was saying sometimes, but they weren't rude and I got done what I needed to. As for Dr. Nguyen - she was very nice, through, professional and pleasant. She did her full exam and changed my previous prescription up. She said my eye sight was actually improving. This was good news. No mention of the 'other issue' my previous doctor kept talking about. So I asked her what she thought about my nerve size and she said they are fine. They are on the larger side of normal, but that's just how they are for me. Lots of people are like that. They look healthy and I shouldn't worry. I KNEW IT!! My son visited the store with my mother for an eye exam on a Saturday morning. They got him in quickly as a walk-in, for which I am grateful. We were clear to the staff that we had no intention of purchasing glasses. They tried to hard sell my mother anyway and she even called me and had me say no way to glasses. Then they locked my son's benefits in the VSP system. They had plenty of time that day to release them but they did not. We were unable to purchase glasses from any other location due to this hold even though my son cannot see without them. Westside is not open on Sundays. I am now waiting, as they do not answer their phones and their mailbox is full. I have sent a fax and am hopeful to get a resolution soon. Locking my son's benefits is not at all a consumer-friendly act and has cost us both time (doing glasses selection, measurement, etc., only to find out benefits are locked) and money (had to purchase a warranty pair of his old prescription just to get them faster for him to see). I will have to wait to purchase the new prescription until his benefits are unlocked. read more

This used to be a place with some great support staff. However, my last two experiences has been pathetic. First, they keep you waiting forever. And second, they give out inaccurate information regarding the readiness of the lenses or glasses. I went to pick up my glasses when they said it's ready just to find out that they want to give me a temporary pair of glasses and the actual one would take 10 more days. I decided to come to this place due to the great reviews, unfortunately I will not be able to confirm the medical service. I walked in on a Friday at midday but unfortunately they were not taking walk ins, so, I was given an appointment after working hours; on Wed at 5:45 my appointment time I arrived and the receptionist (same one that I met on Friday) said that I wasn't in the appointment book and that I would have to come back another day. I work full time and I am a wife and a mom of 2, so I didn't appreciate wasting my time, I will be going to another eye care center. If at least I would have received an explanation or an apology I would have probably given them another shot. read more

Found this place solely based on the high amount of positive reviews on yelp. Made an appointment a day ahead. Arrived on time and was promptly taken care of by Monica and Melissa. Dr Thao Nguyen helped me very well and discussed various options for eye care and the causes of my headaches. I did not feel rushed at all and they repeatedly asked if I needed anything else. PROS: Parking was plentiful. The exam was affordable. The doctor was nice. CONS: The wait was very long. Just for a regular eye exam, I was there for about an hour and 15 minutes, and that was WITH an appointment. I have never waited this long for an eye exam. The staff seemed to move very slowly and inefficiently even though there were enough staff members. Also, I did not like how the prices could not be found on every pair of frames. It's hard to make a decision since the prices were not readily transparent. And lastly, the prices for their regular lenses were rather high. read more
