Excellent customer service. My lenses were scratched and they ordered me a replacement (using a warranty I didn't realize I had). When the lenses arrived I walked in -- without an appointment -- and they changed them on the spot while I waited. Plus, there were a couple adorable shop pups to keep me company while I waited. I only went to this place because of all the great reviews. But after my experience, I'm surprised of how high this place has gotten rated. Dr. Nguyen is good at what he does, he does take the time to answer your questions. Go here only if you'll spend over 500+ just for name brand frames only. They try to also get you to pay for extra services for new patients, after the fact that you've done it. They do have high-tech machines there. My biggest complaint is the service. I have literally called more than 10+ times and still do not know what the girl receptionist's name is..she speaks in such a low tone everytime that I can never make it out. I've also asked her to email me a copy of my prescription and she always told me the doc was always too busy to get it signed. Even when I said I would pick it up and drove all the way there, it wasn't signed and had to wait again. The last straw was when I had confirmed a appointment with her and took off work a bit early to go. When I got there, she said "oh, you didn't check your email, the doc said you didn't have to come in." The least they could've done was call me since they knew I was on my way there and who would check their email while driving?! So I ended up driving there multiple times to get what I needed. They rely on the text messaging system, really takes away customer service. Sad to say, I can't recommend this place to others. One saving grace might be the cute dog they have running around the store. read more

I saw the great reviews of Dr. Nguyen here and decided I wanted to get an eye exam from him. But the price quoted was way too much for my retiree budget. Then I remembered I had an eyecare plan with my Aetna insurance. I called Eye Impact and asked the price of an eye exam for glasses with this plan. The price was great ($42) so I booked an appointment. At the end, I was told that I would also have to pay for an add-on to the exam. When I protested that I was not told about that charge on the phone, the clerk was adamant that he told me. The doctor, however, took the charge off my bill. I told them that if I had been told on the phone, I would never have booked the appointment because I couldn't have afforded it. So I'm glad that I was not charged for this "extra" which I was never told was optional. And I appreciate the doctor's understanding. That being said, the exam was exceptional. Dr. Nguyen was pleasant and informative, explaining everything along the way. He listened to me and answered questions. When all was said and done, I didn't need new glasses and a purchase was not pushed on me, as many places do. A printout was given me...my prescription plus a detailed list of charges. Best eye exam experience I've ever had. This is definitely the place to go if you can afford it. Truly exceptional. A caveat: some here praised being greeted by the office dog. The dog is well-behaved and responds to the doctor. But I am not a dog person and I would rather have not had the dog approach me, much less jump on me or run his wet nose on my hand. read more

Hugo was such an amazing help! Finding the right pair of frames that would suit my face had been a year long process for me and as I was about to give up, Hugo came to my rescue! Right when I walked in Hugo knew exactly what I needed and I had picked out my frames in less than 5 minutes. I drove around Houston to find frames to only to find that they were outdated... how sad. However, Eye Impact was the exact opposite! I didn't even care that they didn't take my insurance because the customer service I had received was NOTHING compared to all of the other optical offices in Houston. Even though they did not accept my insurance they offered me amazing discounts which pretty much added up to what my insurance would have paid anyways. Dr. Nguyen was great! He did the entire exam himself which differs from other optometrists. I got a lot of personal attention with equipment that I had not ever seen before at other optometrist visits. He was very thorough about the health of my eyes and gave detailed explanations of photos taken of the back of my eyes. After the exam, it was time to pick out new frames. I've tried in other establishments to give the technicians free reign to choose what looks best and they have been less than helpful. Hugo was very good at finding glasses that fit my face/head shape and allowed me a large enough to selection to get a grasp on what I was looking for. He even helped me with colors that go well with my complexion and hair color... not something I had ever considered or been told before. My visit was nothing short of excellent! Dr. Nguyen was professional and courteous. He explained every part of the eye exam to me, always keeping me in the loop. The office has the newest in optometry technology that I've seen. The dreaded "puff test" has been replaced with something that did not intimidate the hell out of me. I also had pictures taken of the back of my eye, which was really interesting. The staff was friendly and welcoming. They adjusted my new Tom Ford sunglasses for me. After I told them about a pair I had in the car that didn't fit well, they gave me a complimentary adjustment on that one too. In the past, I use to be too lazy to go to my annual eye exam. I was looking for an optometrist in Houston after I moved here and all the stars and good comments led me to schedule here. And it couldn't be better! I wear glasses everyday for more than 10 years now and I have been to several optometrists in this time. I believe Doctor Gary Nguyen was the best so far! The equipment is really good, new exams that I never saw elsewhere (for dry eyes) and that I really needed and the doctor took the time to explain everything to me, every step. And even took the time to answer extra questions about the dry eyes exam (Meibomian glands lines) I told about before. The girls in the front desk (I am so sorry I didn't catch the names) were really nice also, helped me find the perfect frame for my new glasses and went above and beyond to make sure I got the colours I wanted. Their frames are not the sames as normal shops, they dont have so many "brands" like Tiffanys but they have awesome frames! I had to get my eyes examined twice by Dr N because the first set of lenses were too strong. Dr N said he made them "stronger so I would grow into them". Hmmmmm..... Not sure when that was supposed to happen and what I was supposed to do until I grew into them. He did redo the exam at no charge and redo the lenses at no charge. I never received a bill or clear explanation of charges and the discounts I was entitled to through Aetna. The bill was supposed to come by email. I had to email and request the bill twice before I ever recieved it. On closer inspection of charges, they did not conform to discounts prescribed by Aetna. I went in and received some answers that were not consistent and explanations that what I ordered was not on the stores billing chart and not on Aetna's plan. After being challenged it was determined I was overcharged about $100. ADVICE: Check your bill and their discounts for your plan very closely and don't be afraid to challenge the charges and insurance discounts - I had to keep asking questions and kept getting sketchy answers and charges that I still find "unusual". read more

I moved to Houston from New Orleans August 8, 2013 and needed to establish an eye doctor. While it received great reviews on yelp, it also came highly recommended from a friend. I am very pleased with the level of service and personal tough that Dr. Nguyen and his staff provide. After visiting three other well-known venues in search for the perfect pair of glasses, I was beginning to believe there was something wrong with my face. I walked into Eye Impact and was very impressed with their selection of frames. It didn't take long for the optical manager, Hugo, to introduce himself and proceed to be amazing. I explained that I'd had the same glasses for 10 years and was looking for something trendy, but nothing that stretched beyond my persona. I went on to give a little more down-to-earth description, and he gave me a few options. Choosing eyeglasses is not easy. These glasses will no doubt be with me for a few years and in my profession, it's important to look professional, but I also wanted to still look cute. After trying on a few frames, it didn't take long for me to realize how honest Hugo is. He exudes confidence and made feel like I could trust his opinion and he wanted to put me in t. He listened to what I was looking for and also gave me the "no" look even when I thought a pair might look good. This is the best eye doctor I've been to! The office is clean and contemporary - very nice. There are 2 precious dogs that I played with until the doctor was ready for me. If there was a way to give a 1000 stars I would! They have the BEST COSTUMER SERVICE EVER!!!! This is my second pair of glasses from eye impact and although we experienced some manufacturing related issues with the lenses and frames, causing me to visit them a few times, I always felt taken care and very well treated! They moved moon and stars to give me the best solution for the best shades! I recommend this place to anyone who needs glasses ( or when I get compliments on my super cute bright pink frame). It has a welcoming atmosphere, a smaller amount of Frames that you wouldn't see in a chain store, but the quality of both materials and costumer service are incomparable, the Dr. , Michael, Veronica and Hugo are amazing and Coco and Chloe are the most well behaved dogs ever! Also, let me just tell you that if Hugo chooses a frame that he thinks is going to look amazing on you, TRUST HIM! He's a wizard disguised as human! Dr. Nguyen has quite an impressive array of eye analysis equipment, and was able to give a detailed explanation of what was going on in my eyes. I had previously not worn corrective lenses and was surprised to hear that I needed them, but after wearing the prescribed glasses for a few days, I definitely see improvement. I came here because it's close to me and seemed like a quality eye guy based on the reviews. I've had cataract surgery on both eyes and still have issues. Eye Impact were extraordinary in their service and professionalism. I purchased glasses some months ago and had difficulty wearing them. After a re-examination, it was determined the problem was a manufacturing defect in the frames. The frames were already obsolete and replacement parts were no longer generally available. They contacted the manufacturer and proceeded to obtain proper replacement parts at no cost to me. I needed to compromise on the color of the frames and paid a nominal price for the replacement of additional matching components. I now have the proper fit and can use the eyewear as I hoped. I have had nothing but outstanding service from Dr. Nguyen and Michael. They have a high-tech facility, deliver a comprehensive exam and offer the best assortment of high end designer frames. This is far and away the best place in Houston to get the eye care everyone deserves. read more

Went to this location a quite ago and no longer would like to ever do business with them again. Their location was very nice and clean and the doctor was very helpful and informative. But where this place failed is their front end staff. The guy who checked me out told me I had to pay everything out of pocket because they would have to mail everything into my insurance and once my insurance paid them they would mail me a refund check. This has occurred before at an urgent care. Where they accept payment and once insurance pays them they refund you the money by sending a check in the mail. I didn't think anything of it and proceeded. Paid over $300 for exam and whatever else he charged. Well months went by and I contacted them and again the guy said he did his part and finally I contacted my insurance who then three wayed him and explained to the guy they never received this claim. Basically the insurance lady informed him they were waiting on the claim and to please send it. Again I waited. It's now 2017 and I get an email saying I'm overdue on an exam. Finally decided to put in my review, please double check this doctor is in-network and that if you pay out of pocket stay on top of it for as long as needed. I honestly lost money going to this doctor as his staff did not do what they were supposed to. Again the doctor is great and everything but the staff represents him and if their failing customers then I would not think to go back again. read more
