My anxiety was extremely high -- so bad that I couldn't even put in contact lenses. Ashley, the counselor, took the time to slow everything down, explain each step, and reassure me about what to expect. She never made me feel rushed or embarrassed, and that meant more than anything. The nurses, Brenda and Briseyda, were just as incredible. They were patient, gentle, and very understanding about how nervous I was. They talked me through everything, checked on me constantly, and helped me relax when I felt overwhelmed. By the time we were done, I felt calm and confident instead of scared. Dr. Sun was exceptional during procedure. If you struggle with anxiety about eye procedures, this is the place to go. Their kindness, professionalism, and genuine care for patients really stand out. The clinic is busy, but the system and secretaries make things run quite smooth. I'm a rather difficult case, presenting with angle recession glaucoma following an injury I had over 15 years ago. After a botched attempt in changing my eyedrop regiment at another clinic, Dr. Coburn's team accepted me as a patient and asked me to come by ASAP. As bad as the situation was, Dr. Coburn set me back on the right path. When I'm in a critical point in my care, the doctors here are willing to make exceptions. Dr. Queen has placed a beautiful shunt in my eye. I can't see it. Post-op check ups are frequent and I feel comfortable as a patient. Compared to other clinics, communication is quick and much needed emergency visits are taken seriously. Hard to get care this good anywhere.

He thoroughly explains my diagnoses and treatment options and always lets me decide how I want to treat my chronic illness without forcing his medical opinion - yet he gives good support and advice. The treatment and care I've received is why I always tell my husband if anything ever happens to me, take me to Methodist for treatment. You feel like you're on Grey's Anatomy with all of the med students, fellows, and residents that accompany him, but you also learn more about your illness/situation. I came in to see Dr. Soparkar because I had an eye surgery (from another by doctor) that went very wrong. I was nervous because of how my previous two surgeries went, but I immediately felt comfortable and confident in Dr. Soparkars skills. He is very warm and comforting while still being very professional. Fast forward to my surgery... I had a two-part surgery because of the complexity of my case. Dr. Soparkar did a procedure that no one else does here in Houston or most other places! He truly is very smart and thinks outside the box when it comes to the the art of surgery. He recognizes that every person/situation is different and he is flexible with that. In both cases the surgeries went wonderful! The aftercare was great too! He sat down and discussed every finding and actually explained it in basic terms from my first consult up until the day of my surgery. His team is outstanding. They specialize in what they do and of course are darn good at it. I rarely leave an office knowing everyone's names or what their personalities are like outside of work, but Laura, Jonah, and Janet make an extra effort to have conversations with you to take the ease out of having a boring eye exam. Can you say team LONGEVITY? They've been with him for over 8 years! Lastly, I have to briefly touch base on his technology for all you tech enthusiasts out there. The practice is fairly new so that also means new equipment and newest laser technology! Your check-in paperwork is completed on an ipad. All of your test data from the eye exams are mapped out on a computer screen so the Dr. can go over and point out what's normal and abnormal within your exam. I was originally referred here for LASIK several years ago. Everything went well, and they even got me signed up to participate in a contrast sensitivity study to help offset some of the cost of the surgery. I currently go there still for regular check ups with my optometrist. She's stellar and does a great job of keeping up with clients even though she only sees them once every 6 or 12 months. The front desk staff are pretty good but can be frustrating at times. I frequently get appointments that get canceled and rescheduled after they were booked, or they'll occasionally reassign you to a different doctor rather than your regular one without even telling you.

It's been a pleasant experience from the first day I picked up the phone to call and ask questions from CINDY. Everyone was really kind and caring which made me feel really comfortable . Dr. Scott Segal is a professional at what he does and he was very kind, informative, and caring. I did thorough research into who I should pick to go with for my lasik surgery and I'm glad to have picked him. I'm currently recovering from the procedure and it seems to be going great. Dr. Scott also gave me his personal number in case I have any questions or concerns. All information regarding financing, prescriptions, and scheduling were easy to follow. I had my post op checkup this morning and I already have 20/25 vision :).

What I don't appreciate is when medical practitioners get offended when you ask questions, or challenge theories when it comes to your own health. It is my body and my life, I think every patient should ask questions and challenge conventional theories. I have a thyroid issue. I am trying to find ways to heal it. I have been seeing Dr. Horsefield for maybe 5 years now, and have noticed passive aggressiveness before... but what I recently experienced is clearly unacceptable. I saw him for my regular annual appointment 3 months ago. My TSH levels were too high, so I got on some thyroid supplements and we retested about 6 weeks later. The results came in and the TSH levels were too low. I have since readjusted my medication and sent him an email politely asking if he could order the bloodwork to retest my levels so I can ensure i am now healthy and found the right balance. His response was callous. I have attached a photo with the passive aggressive response, where he makes it clear that he wont put the test in the system because he doesn't get paid for "answering emails, ordering tests, reviewing tests, communicating test results and maintenance of records" ..... REALLY? Aren't those tasks associated with being a doctor? I would be happy to pay him, for me it isn't about the money at all. In addition, clearly SOMEONE is getting paid when I order these lab tests because I'm charged thousands of dollars for them. All I need though is the bloodwork.... and he doesn't have availability for 2 months!?! I'm extremely disappointed that someone in the healthcare field is so much more concerned about their wallet than their patients health. Also if he wanted to charge me a processing fee that is fine, but his solution is clearly not in my best interest to wait 2 months and potentially do irreversible damage to my body.
