I was told that day that the same eye with the cornea issue had cellular issues and may need surgery to repair the cells. They scheduled a follow-up to check on the cellular issue. The cornea issue was a known issue for years. I had not heard of the cellular issue until this day. When I went back a month or so later as recommended for the follow up, the machine that reads the eyes' cells was acting up again. I was there neatly 4 hours for what was supposed to be a simple follow up. They eventually were able to get scans and said cells looked normal and the original scan must have been bad. Then Dr. Slade said my cornea looked fine and I did not have a cornea problem, which was concerning because a month prior he looked at my eye and said he could see the cornea issue. When I reminded him that I have had a cornea issue for 30+ years and he saw it a month prior, he insisted my cornea was fine. In addition, I never received a prescription for eye glasses, so I called to get a copy since I went there for my annual exam. I was directed to go to an optometrist. Mind you, I was charged for each visit. I wasted my time and have to start over with another doctor. Something is amiss. I would not recommend.

I was originally referred here for LASIK several years ago. Everything went well, and they even got me signed up to participate in a contrast sensitivity study to help offset some of the cost of the surgery. I currently go there still for regular check ups with my optometrist. She's stellar and does a great job of keeping up with clients even though she only sees them once every 6 or 12 months. The front desk staff are pretty good but can be frustrating at times. I frequently get appointments that get canceled and rescheduled after they were booked, or they'll occasionally reassign you to a different doctor rather than your regular one without even telling you.

While their website booking was down, I called in and was able to book an appointment within 2 days. Google Maps takes you to the right place - it's a small parking lot. Inside is a bright and welcoming lobby. My eye exam went smoothly and Dr. Nguyen showed me the images of my Meibomian glands, which indicated that I had a stye in both my upper and lower eyelids. No wonder the swelling was so bad... I was sold on a special moist eye compress mask and did not purchase any frames or lenses during my visit as I had to get back to work. The eye compress price was comparable to Amazon's. The office staff were even considerate enough to give me some sun filters after the dilation for my drive home as I'd forgotten my sunglasses. Overall, a very pleasant visit, about an hour and some change because of the dilation time for a new patient. Would come back again!

Prior to that I had…read moreneeded a very strong prescription for my eyes -- couldn't see the alarm clock at night next to my bed it was so bad! Lasik changed that and I truly recommend it. Sanders and his staff are very friendly. Their office is easy to get to, just close enough to Greenway Plaza to be accessible from the freeway but without being in the main complex itself. He is a former Fulbright scholar having studied overseas in Europe. I'm not sure but I believe he may also be connected still with the Baylor College of Medicine.
