Had Texas Donuts on my radar and since we were heading by the other day, we finally made a stop. Cute little shop with a pretty good number of options. We went with a fairly basic mix, but I still think a plain glazed donut is a good way to judge a donut shop. We did a half dozen: a glazed, a sugar, two filled with Bavarian cream, a blueberry, and their croughnut. My wife also got a coffee and I snagged an apple fritter too. Donuts are light and airy. The croughnut was fine, but even as one of their more "expensive" donuts, it was worth a try since nothing is that pricey. The fritter was great. It's not one of those massive fritters, BUT it's former perfectly. I've had fritters that are too thick and the interior stays kind of dough-y. This was just tender on the inside with a crispy exterior. They were much closer than I expected and I'd definitely head back. (Staff was also really friendly!) read more

Yippee! The Lorton location has opened! Trust me people when I say these are the best donuts around. The prices can't be beat unless you love Dunkin' D's. Their prices are comparable but Texas Donuts melt in your mouth. During our visit, there was plenty of staff and plenty of donuts! We got our usual half dozen: twists, glaze, chocolate and cinnamon. You can get away with spending about $6 for half a dozen. They also have THE BEST Donut holes. They are like "little puffs of heaven". Parking is tricky but it's easy. They share a lot with 7-11 and Burger King. Check out this small business because they are so worth the trip. We also request the location in Centreville. read more

It is harder and harder to get great, fresh donuts so I'm grateful to have found this place. It really reminds me of one of my favorite donut shops in Pearland, TX. I got glazed, blueberry, buttermilk, chocolate and a cinnamon roll. So far, I've eaten 2 and they are so light and tasty! Enjoy with a hot cup of tea or coffee and these donuts literally melt in your mouth! They are closed on Tuesdays so be sure to load up on Mondays lol. read more

I'm only giving this location three stars because the selection was much smaller than the Manassas location so I was a little disappointed but I tried two new donuts here. The Cronut is fantastic! 9/10! Only not a 10 because I've had a better one somewhere else but I'd definitely get it again. Huge and perfect texture, layers and glaze. Super good! I also got the blueberry cake. Good blueberry flavor and very soft but lacking a little something for me, 7/10. Texas Donuts is probably the best donuts in the DC metropolitan area. I just love their donuts. I'm not normally in the Lorton area, but since I was I made it a point to go to Texas Donuts. I am so glad that I did. I ordered a dozen donuts, and got a variety of different ones. Cronuts, apple fritters, dog shaped, red velvet with cream cheese frosting, and a few others. All super delicious! My only complaint is that they do not make it clear which donuts fall in the standard category and what falls in the specialty category. There are donuts that fall outside of these two categories and cost even more. So of course I had to pay a few extra bucks because I wanted a few that were outside of these categories. I hope they have a way to make it clear what is what without too much trouble. Otherwise, great donuts! I can't wait to have another. read more

So the ladyfriend and I, if you know us, and of course you do, gentle Yelp reader, you know we're not big on chains. I can get TGI Applebee's anywhere, so if there's a local something to try, of course you go there. But having never gone to Texas Donuts and hearing some raves about, we decided while in Woodbridge already to return some Fios equipment to the Verizon store - don't get me started on what a pain this has been though the guy at the store itself was a swell helpful fella - to try chain Texas Donuts. 1045 am on a Saturday and the little storefront in Lorton had a small line. We waited maybe four minutes. The shop itself was tidy and well displayed. Donuts: we got the cookies and cream (frosting and crumbled Oreo on a perfectly good, fresh yeast donut), a maple and bacon (a LOT of bacon crumbles on that, more than the ladyfriend wanted), a strawberry frosted cake donut (quite good) and a really good apple fritter. We also got two croissant sandwiches -turkey and cheese, and ham, egg and cheese - both perfectly good if a bit ordinary. An ok croissant. There's a coffee shop on Telegraph Road by Van Dorn that does a better croissant-wich, no offense. We also got two kolaches - one regular, one jalapeño. Neither of us were big fans. They're not bad, but if they'd have been warm that might've been better. The donuts are worth going there for. We will go back for the donuts. A solid four stars. read more
