Lived in Texas and the one here is good too !! The glazed donuts and jalapeño cheese kolache 10/10! Thank you Shipley!

I lived in Texas for about 8 years so I basically had Shipley's all the time! While visiting the East Coast we found a location that was close to where we were visiting and decided to stop by and grab a kolache and a glazed donut because we love them and have missed them! This location looked to be fairly new. It was clean, we visited very early in the morning and we were kind of disappointed in the service part of it. The employees were not as friendly and it felt like they were just there to socialize instead of run the business. We ordered 2 jalapeno and cheese kolaches and 2 glazed donuts. Every Shipley's I've visited always gave you hot kolaches and warm glazed donuts that literally melt in your mouth. At this location, this was not the case. The kolache was barely warm which made it nearly impossible to eat since the cheese was not melty and the sausage was cold inside. The glazed donut was not fresh at all. It seemed like it was sitting there for a while, but Shipley's is known for their warm glazed donuts. This experience definitely was NOT the one we expected and next time we will skip visiting here in other states because we know the quality will not be the same as the original! read more

Although the donughts are really good, not sure why they employ people with terrible customer service. came to pick up my order on Sunday morning and a brown skin lady with braids and glasses was uneccessarly rude. I greeted her and was very polite and she was very nasty, for nothing. If you don't want to work simply don't come instead of having unnecessary attitudes because your upset you woke up this morning. 0/10 for this will not be back. read more

Hey friends! Donuts are my favorite sweet treat. So I was super excited to have a Shipley's in the DMV. We ordered a half dozen donuts($11). We ordered 2 glazed, 2 blueberry, 1 bullseye and 1 strawberry donuts. My boyfriend really enjoyed the donuts, the blueberry being his favorite. I wasn't a big a fan of the donuts. They were not fresh. Flavor wise, they were good. Not too sweet. I'll return another time first thing in the morning in hopes for fresh donuts. Customer service was friendly. I came here last Saturday. First and foremost, I want to say that this place is relatively new, so I'm giving a bit of grace. However, the service was crazy. It wasn't bad, but everybody seemed very confused. My order was wrong, I asked them to correct it, I didn't take the time to check the correction, and it still ended up being wrong. It's a very casual environment. Definitely a donut shop vibe. Sit down and maybe drink coffee or juice with your kid, eat a doughnut, call it a day. Now for the food: Kolaches: the bacon egg and cheese kolache's were salty as hell. I took a couple bites and couldn't take anymore. The actual pastry itself was well cooked and flavorful. The sausage, egg and cheese kolache was actually much better, but it had nothing on kolaches I've had elsewhere. Donuts: I really wanted the cake donuts to be like those amazing donuts at those little shops in California. They weren't. Close, but not quite there. I'm not sure what it is in their batter, but it has some additional flavors that I wasn't into. That said, other members of my family enjoyed some of the donuts. They definitely don't blow me away, but they are better than Dunkin'. Anyway, I'd return with like a kid. It's a nice local ISH alternative. read more

Let me tell you, Dunkin has nothing on Shipley's!.....As far as I'm concerned, I stumbled on this place last weekend, while running some errands in the Clinton area. Shipleys is franchise chain and this location left a great, first impression on me. The minute you walk into the door you cannot help but notice me great selection and variety of donuts.....and they have Colachie's! I tried the glazed original doughnut as a test and baseline to see if I am getting a good donut with a fluffy/tasty profile or simply, a loaf of bread with icing on it like some places, I will not mention here. Turns out the glaze passed all marks and was really good. Next, I tried a delicious strawberry sprinkles doughnut that was good as well. But, I must admit.... There was this devil food donut that was amazing! It was full of chocolate flavor, sort of crispy i on the outside and moist like a cake on the inside. All the donuts I tried was a thumbs-up and I mean this as high remarks, coming from a die-hard., "I only eat" Krispy Kreme fan. In all, a solid donut shop with a delicious variety of donuts to choose from. The price point is good....and the calories are the only thing expensive wise here. lol. The customer service was great too. Hopefully on the next visit, I can catch some hot donuts. Just like Krispy Kreme drops them. , Shipley's offer hot donuts as well. Had some family who were excited about Shipley's arrival so we decided to try it out. Overall, a good experience. They're still within their opening week at the time of this review but it seemed Iike a smooth operation. It was busy but employees were courteous and organized. I'm neither a donut lover or expert but overall there were a few I'd try again! The shop is big enough for a few folks to enjoy their donuts (though perhaps not lingering too long!) and it was clean. Parking is kinda tight but since they're fast, it shouldn't be too difficult to find a spot. There's also a drive-through, which should help with flow. They've got seasonal beverages (i.e. candy cane donut and peppermint mocha style iced coffee). And also some kolaches to give some of the savory. I'd say give it a try! read more

As promised, we gave them another try. It's a NO for me. I'm not a big sweet eater so I have no need to return for the donuts. My husband probably will. However, regarding the kolaches ... NEVER again. I can put ONE piece of cheese and lunch meat on a hot dog roll and air fry it at home for a lot less money, effort and traffic woes. Check out my pics. friendly young man took my order and was quick to box my donuts. However, the filled donuts had no filling, just a stain of color on the inside pastry dough. What a major disappointment. I would not recommend their filled donuts. If i had tried to eat it there, i definitely would have asked for a refund. I am writing this review to save you the disappointment. A new location for some delicious donuts This isn't my first time at Shipley's, but this is my first time at this newer location. The place was very clean and there was plenty of staff working. I went early in the morning, but there was more than enough friendly staff around and the glazed donuts came out fresh. The donuts are exactly the same as the Odenton location which was much to my relief as this location is much closer to where I live. The coffee was also just ok. Will definitely be back for my half dozen selection. Best donuts in the area in my opinion! read more

I have been seeing coming soon signs and wanted to try! Stopped by on my morning commute. There were a few cars in the parking lot but the drive thru was empty. I was greeted as soon as I pulled up. The young man told me about their rewards/member program. This was my first time here so I had several questions about the doughnut... which he had no problem asking. I decided to order a mixed 1/2 dozen which included blueberry, chocolate frosted, apple filled, blueberry glaze, cinnamon sugar, and crunch doughnut. Each doughnut was the perfect size. My only negative is the doughnuts were less moist than I expected. Will return to try more items and check out the interior of the shop. read more

Oh how I love a doughnut.. I did not actually go to pick them up myself, so I cannot provide any information on the ambience of the place nor could I rate the service. If I wanted to rate the service, it will be solely off of the fact that I didn't get everything that I ordered and some of the items I ordered were incorrect.. I recently heard about this place so I wanted to try it and so I tried to order like one of everything. I took one bite to try each of them with my coffee. The thing that I notice is that they were mostly dry. During this time, they had specialty donuts which were chocolate ice with peppermint and a vanilla ice with peppermint . If you were to ask my opinion, I would only recommend the chocolate iced with peppermint and the chocolate filled donut. Unfortunately, the others were pretty much garbage. Two out of a dozen is not enough for me to wanna try it again . read more

These were the worst donuts I've ever had. When I opened the box, a strong, unpleasant odor came out, which immediately turned me off. I'm not sure what kind of oil they use, but it was not good. I did try one anyway and regretted it. I agree with another reviewer--Shopper is far better. read more

We stopped by one afternoon driving through Clinton to give them a try. The shop was clean and welcoming. The clerk was very friendly and helpful. We purchased a half dozen donuts to try a variety and they were delicious. Although it was in the afternoon, they had a good selection and were still fresh. I have been to this location 3 or so times since it opened and being from Texas where the Shipley Do-Nuts are superior to every other donut shop, this one feels subpar due to the lack of care by the staff. Every time I have been it's been early in the morning and I order a dozen half glazed and half chocolate glazed. I have yet to be able to get chocolate glazed donuts because they haven't made them yet. This was never an issue I have experienced with any of these stores before. For example, this weekend I got a dozen donuts all of which felt cold like they were left over from the day before, and I also order but didn't receive a dozen donut holes. I ordered at 6:30 in the morning, 30 minutes after opening and I also ordered ahead through the app. The reason I didn't receive my donut holes was because they didn't have any ready. They offered to give me something else but if they don't have that ready then I doubt they had anything else available at the time. I don't know the science behind making a donut but the store shouldn't be open and have a limited menu when the app allows you to order anything. The store is overall very clean. read more

I don't have much to say, but as someone from Texas who only loves Shipleys donuts, I was disappointed that at 9:54 a.m this location was out of glaze and not making anymore. I've seen some busy Shipleys locations and that has never happened. It was just a let down because I'm living in Alexandria, but I guess it is what it is. read more

Ordered a dozen donuts on Sunday the donuts that were ordered on a regular basis were fresh and tasty but the ones that were not ordered on a regular basis were soggy and lumpy and had no real taste until you get to the filling since it was a Sunday I will give them another shot just not on a Sunday read more

We were excited when this new location came to Clinton. We decided to try 12 mixed doughnuts. Almost all of the doughnuts were dry, and seemed stale. We were very dissapointed with the quality.
