Not sure what I expected but it missed the mark on available selections. They mainly had donuts. I did purchase 9 donuts, two of which were lemon custard. Meh, average at best. I got a half dozen donuts and what the employee said was known as their "world famous eclair.' I got two cake donuts (no flavor at all, possibly the worst cake donut I have tasted), a peanut butter donut (a little too sweet but tasted ok), a strawberry donut (same verdict) and a couple of custard filled donuts that were also average but not special at all. Checking things out this morning and stopped by Costco and took a look at some (4) cheese danishes for $12 and decided no. Got my lips all fixed for the caramelized cheese blueberry croissants which I plan to pick up next week. Those things are decadent. Stopped in this lovely little bakery to pick up a couple of items instead. I got a PB&J donut and a Boston Cream. Met the owner, Mark, and he and I had a chance to talk for a bit. Nice guy. Lovely donut shop. We talked about wiggly cakes and scones...and Crumbl. They have a few more donuts I plan to try - including strawberry with coconut next time. The donuts are larger than the grocery store variety. They sell other breakfast delights plus coffee too, and have been there for a while. Terrific member of the merchant community. You just can't beat this bakery not just the price, but the bakery itself off was really good desserts. Donuts seem to be a big hit not so much for my family. We like the eclairs and the cakes.. we've been going to walls for a number of years way back when it was in a cute TeePee. Love the assortment of cakes, but it would be nice if they would continue to offer half cakes so you can bring home several different types to please everyone in the family. Also would like to suggest that they offer a chocolate birthday cake with yellow inside not just white icing. Most of the bakeries at the grocery stores offer cakes were the icing is so sweet. I placed an order for a sheet cake on 11/8 for pickup on 12/8. Not only was the cake made on the wrong date, the manager and the owner blamed an ex-employee for the screw up and was completely useless at offering a reasonable solution to fix the error. I was offered to take cakes previously baked in the store in place of the sheet cake I ordered. The manager was rude and completely unprofessional as was her boss. They have the emotional intelligence of a two year old and did nothing but place the blame on an employee instead of owning up to their mistake. Do not patronize this bakery. This bakery has a history starting in the 1960s when Tony and Mary Walls opened in Calvert County, MD. It got noticed when it moved in 1974 to a building that was formerly called the Wigwam casino in Waldorf, MD. George and Crystal Walls ran the bakery until 2001. It was revived by their children and grandson in 2006 at the Calvert Country Market shopping center in Calvert County, MD, and then moved to the current location. My wife and I have visited many times since it was at the Wigwam building. We were dating when I took her to Wigwam. It was her first visit and she got an eclair. The products they sell have been getting worse in taste and texture over the years. How are they now? We got 3 items. 1) Chocolate eclair This is their best seller. It's hugh in size for an eclair. That's why the choux pastry has terrible texture. The big size makes it impossible to avoid cracks while baking. That leads to dryness. Our eclairs had big cracks everywhere. It was dry and chewy on the inside, hard on the outside, and dense throughout. It tasted like bland white bread. The filling tasted like vanilla pudding from a manufacturer. It's not bad, it's just typical vanilla pudding. The topping was chocolate frosting, not ganache or fondant. Typical tasting and moderately sweet. Overall, it was okay tasting except for the awful choux pastry. This has gotten worse since we last got it about 6 months ago. Sorry to see that. There are many better eclairs out there. 2) Cherry danish It was crisp and flaky on the outside. Airy, moist, and slightly chewy on the inside with no sweetness or butter flavor. It had icing drizzled on top. The cherry jam topping was moderately sweet with a light cherry flavor. It had no tartness and tasted artificial. It was thick with no pieces of cherries. This pastry was edible and forgettable. 3) Blueberry danish It had the same pastry dough with icing as above. The topping was blueberry jam. It was thick with no pieces of blueberries. It was moderately sweet and slightly tart with a modest blueberry flavor. This jam had more flavor than the cherry jam. This pastry was okay but not special in any way. The service was helpful, attentive, and polite. The store was old, worn, drab, and relatively clean. There wasn't a restroom for customers. There is a free parking lot. They also have doughnuts, pies, brownies, cookies, bread, loaf cakes, cannoli, and whole cakes (no individual slices). We have tried everything over the years, and we've found that the taste and texture of everything varied except for the eclair. That is, until now. The food is not great. It can be good or mediocre. You never know. The food here offers great value to people who want quantity over quality. You get hugh portions at lower prices compared to other bakeries. We visit less and buy less with each visit. There are better bakeries out there with more variety, better ambiance, and tastier pastries that are made better. My enthusiasm for this place has fallen over the years as I find better bakeries all around the DC area. I have reviewed the good and the bad. This place is definitely in the middle. read more

Best doughnuts I've ever had, they are fluffy and have the right amount of crunch the frosting on top has the perfect amount of sweetness. I got both the chocolate frosted and peanut butter doughnuts and they were INCREDIBLE!! I also got the eclair and it was fantastic from the cream filling to the chocolate frosting it was the best eclair I've ever had. The service is incredible the lady working was so nice and helpful. Our first time visiting Walls Bakery was last Sunday 03/03/24. We got a couple donuts and my goodness, they were delicious! We got one that was covered in chocolate and filled in the middle with white buttercream! Wow, this thing was gigantic and so so good! We also got a lemon danish and it was pretty phenomenal as well! Coming home from the cruise we were on we stopped again this morning (03/10/24). We got the one I just mentioned that was covered in chocolate filled with buttercream, a cinnamon bun, a cinnamon twist and a couple of eclairs. We brought these home to our kids so they could try them and they completely destroyed them all - well, we gave one of the eclairs to our neighbors because frankly we had so much! The next time I'm passing through the area I will DEFINITELY be stopping here and picking up some more treats! I almost forgot to mention the lady behind the counter helping us. Service was friendly and this place was clean and had hand sanitizers placed throughout with social distancing adequately enforced. It was nice to see so many regulars patronizing this business on a Sunday afternoon. One lady stopping in for a birthday cake mentioned she's been getting birthday cakes from Walls for over 20 years which was heartwarming. Hub loves German Chocolate cake and with his bday swiftly approaching, I'm checking out places to find one that is remarkable. It would have been nice to be able to try the one at Walls by the slice, as well as leave with a slice of the red velvet cake; however the assortment of cakes by the slice here are extremely limited and instead I had to buy a whole round cake to test it out. The German chocolate cake was just ok and did not taste freshly baked which was the same for the dozen doughnuts I ordered in assorted flavors. They tasted days old, but the woman at the counter sold them to me for $.50 each at close to 3pm on a Sunday afternoon and she was very friendly & helpful so I would look forward to finding out when the fresh baked treats are put out and going back to grab some then. read more

The pastries, Donuts, cakes, basically everything is so good I was close to crying when I got home and tried the lemon taco, I cant believe how good these pastries are and the service was amazing. The lady there was so sweet and caring for everyone, and she let people down slowly when she had to tell them there weren't any more Danish lemon pastries, and overall its a great place. There wasn't a lot of people in the store and it was quiet there which is the perfect place to just relax, and lets not forget the scent. Walls Bakery has been around since the late '60s, offering donuts, cakes, breads, danishes, cookies, and eclairs. The hubs and I stopped by to grab some desserts to go - we purchased some jelly-filled yeast donuts (they were of a generous size and had some decent amount of jelly filling); oatmeal raisin cookies (more oats than raisin, these were not overly sweet); chocolate chip walnut (I liked the combination of the semi-sweet chocolate chips with the pieces of chunky walnuts); their famous eclair (literally a size of a shoe, this was super massive! Filled with a generous amount of custard and glazed with a chocolate frosting on top); and, a maple walnut danish (it literally looked like a gigantic, semi-rolled carpet - super generous in size, nice maple glaze, and chock full of walnuts in all the nooks and crannies). Ms. Christine was there, and she was super sweet!!! She gave some recommendations, pointed out the items that were really popular, and really did not rush us in making our selections. This used to be the wigwam on 301 back in the day. It had a resturant. As a kid we used to come here for the massive, delicious Eclairs. The cakes and donuts and other items are as delicious. Ever find a hole-in-the-wall that's completely off the beaten path and you dream about it for weeks after? If you've never experienced that, you've never been to Walls Bakery. I cannot even begin to describe the gluttonous passion is hold for the chocolate eclairs here. They are somehow able to have an eclair the size of Lebron James' shoes, that still has the integrity of a small eclair, at a similar price tag! At $4.50 each, I don't know how they do it. The shell of the eclair stays lite, fluffy yet crisp. It's FULL of custard, and the chocolate is pure decadence. I bought a few two weeks ago, and I've not had a day go by where I haven't wished Walls was closer so I could go get one that moment. Noteworthy as well are the whooping pies, donuts and cannolis. You can tell the cannolis are made fresh that day. The whooped pies are lite, but FULL! I tried a Boston Creme donut and an old fashion donut and both were excellent. Unfortunately, there's no menu listed on any of their platforms, nor is there a way to order online. So I called the store, but the woman who answered was very rude and short with me. I told her how I wanted to place an order and she asked me if I knew what I wanted. I told her no and that I'd like to see a menu. She then said that most people just come into the store and she seemed bothered that I didn't already know what I wanted to order. Is this how you treat first time customers? Oh my, I first discovered this place in 1984 when they were at the art 301 location, "Wigwam" There was a large Indian Wigwam out front. Every item the bake here is so delicious! My all time favorite is their Giant Chocolate Eclair, it's about 11 inches long and filled with custard with chocolates top! Other items that are great are their Apple and Cherry Strudel as well as danish, freshly baked pies, German Chocolate cakes, OH! I usually bake my own cakes and do a fair job of it but yesterday what I made can only be described as a disaster. I was making a four hour trip to my Mom's to celebrate my Son's fourth birthday and I didn't have time to recock. I called the first bakery that showed up on a google search for Waldorf which happened to be Walls. Pleading like my four year old son I asked if they had anything and the owner said they did and were able to get it for me. Not only was this a super inconvenience on them that they worked in - but the cake was delicious and beautifully designed. I also picked up some of their ginormous Eclairs and their Cannolis. I needed a birthday cake for my birthday cookout at the last minute. I had cancelled it and with the help of friends decided to peruse it. I called for a plain yellow cake with buttercream icing the day before to price it. The lady was so nice and helpful. I called the next day to place the order and was told they were completely slammed and were no longer taking orders for the week. The lady this time was apathetic and somewhat rude. I asked to speak to someone else who told me no. I refused to just say "ok" so they let me speak to the owner. He was soooo nice! He did explain they were swamped but still inquired about what I needed. When he learned I simply wanted a crumb coated yellow cake he said "oh yes we can do that!" I was so thrilled!
