Pro Cakes is really good! I really love that they bake their cookies with brown sugar instead of white sugar because it is not as super sweet. It is just right! Their prices are amazing and the size and quality of cookies are so good. I got the $5 bag of 8 cookies (2 pb, 2 snicker, 2 oatmeal and 2 butter crunch). They are so soft and moist. And trust me, worth every step. I grabbed the $5 cookie bag--sampled eight different cookies (felt like more, honestly), paid easily with Apple Pay, and was back on the road in no time. I didn't even make it to the theater before I cracked open the bag... and let me tell you--these cookies were ridiculous. Soft, flavorful, rich, and did not need a glass of milk (but wouldn't hurt either ). Every bite was a winner. They nailed texture, flavor, and size. Just straight-up homemade love in a cookie bag. It is nice to support Black owned establishments in the area especially when they are competing with other establishments that serve the same product or service nearby. I have nostalgia growing up and visiting Iverson Mall and eating at the Pizza Parlor and going to Macy's when it was Hecht's. Little did I know that the snickerdoodle cookies were a thing here. Sure, the area might seem sketchy to a lot of people, and that the mall is a shell of its former self and never had been one of the marquee malls, but I do like that the place provides job opportunities for Black youth in a society that otherwise does not like to provide those opportunities (Black youth unemployment is highest among all groups statistically and is observed when out and about) and that the business is Black owned. The sweet potato pie is tasty, might be a little sugary and sweet (cannot eat too much do not want diabetes) but it has an addictive taste and flavor. Not a big fan of the cupcakes as some were advertised as one flavor, but that was just near the icing, the actual cupcake was more vanilla. The snickerdoodles are tasty and I can see why Stevie Wonder even came to stop by. I would say that the sweet potato pie and the cookies are the strongest selling points. Customer service for the most part is nice, have had few exceptions with poorly trained staff, but I noticed they worked in the back. The young ladies who work at the counter though are usually pleasant and kind. Some items can be pricy, but it is not like I come regularly for different reasons. If you are around the National Harbor area, it does not hurt to stop by and take a pie and some cookies to go. I do like the recipes for how they taste.
