Since the new staff started working here the food quality has declined. The regular menu shrimp fried rice was dry and bland. Barely any shrimp, onions, or bean sprouts. 90% dry rice. The Singapore style noodles were watery and bland. I'm thinking instead of it being Mei fun, it's probably angle hair spaghetti because the texture is different and very watery. The food is amazing!!! They are so generous on meat/seafood with any dish. My pork fried rice was loaded with Delicious pork. One of favorite is the fact that they have do you can take as many sauces as you want. No more breathing for extra duck sauce or hot mustard. Help yourself to the open boxes of sauce. I've only eaten here a couple of times the fish sub sandwich and french fry combo is usually my go to very good. Lots of fish on the sandwich. Also had the eggrolls very good not greasy and I've had the combination lo mein they do pretty good hold their own ground. I will definitely order from here again. read more

Quick and cheap good Chinese take-out. Lunch specials some with a soda and cost right under $10. I really love and prefer their fried rice over other Chinese take-out in the area. It's 10pm & they were the only place open. When I called to order, the person was so polite which is rare from carry outs. When I arrived to pick up my food, the customers service was shockingly great. They asked how my day was and I told them it was my first time here. Chinese Carry Out. Whatchu know 'bout that? If anything you know about chicken wings and mumbo sauce. Well only, if you are from DC or reside in the DC area. You might also know that it is mambo or mumbo. Mumbo sauce is sweet, tangy and perfect for your chicken wings and french fries. Most carry outs in the DC area have their own version of Mumbo sauce. And not everyone can do it right. But oh dear sweet baby Jesus, let me tell you something. Number 1 China definitely gets it right. Their sauce is not watery, it is red and tangy and sweet and thick. My mouth is watering. I might choke on my own saliva while writing this review. I might also drown in my own tears because I am crying that I am so far away. Not only is their mumbo sauce on point, but the chicken wings are banging. They are perfectly seasoned and cooked. Crispy on the outside and warm and juicy on he inside. They ain't no rinky dink wings either. These come from big pimpin birds! LOL! And one wing is ONE WHOLE WING, from flapper to drummie. Ain't no half steppin here with half a baby wing. The fried rice is bomb too. I never, ever say this about any Chinese food place. Most of the time the rice is too hard and not seasoned at all. But this rice is always fresh and perfectly seasoned as well. The Philly steak rolls are AMAZING as well. Egg rolls filled with steak and cheese and onions. Ooey gooey yumminess. The place is impeccably clean and customer service is friendly. If you order a half & half, it is really half and half. No ice - just lemonade and sweet tea. Perfect pairing, perfect mix. This is by far the best Chinese Carry out in Maryland. If you are in the mood for some good eats, you are doing yourself a disservice if you eat anywhere else. I don't know who gave these people five stars but they were today must've been a confusing day first I was told they don't deliver in my area and I've ordered from them before so number one Chinese changed their hours or delivery area and it's not even in there on their menu or anything I called and they answered at number one and told me that the manager would be calling me because they don't answer there. I asked them to refund my money they told me they didn't. They couldn't do that I called GrubHub of which I had never gone through them anyway however, they told me that they could give me a five dollar coupon for a few to use. I told him I will never use this place again and I will not use the service again and this is true. My food is not here yet and I am absolutely sure that the food will taste terrible as well as the service today. Maybe the other people went on a good day. Being the picky and anal retentive person that I am, this is the ONLY Chinese Carryout that I will eat from. The food is Always freshly prepared and I'm never left feeling like I'm going to need Mylanta or an Advil due to all of the MSG that certain restaurants have in their foods. My favorites are: Egg Foo Yung, Orange Chicken, and Broccoli and Garlic. Appetizers I often get are Onion rings and vegetable spring rolls. Delivery has also been the greatest reward when transportation has been a challenge for me or I'm too tired to cook. The food always comes within a reasonable time and not to mention pipping hot. All together, this was pretty good. We decided to try it after our normal go to was closed on a Sunday. Food was ready when I arrived, tasted good. Only critique was that the szechaun was not spicy as it normally is. You may have to request spicy. Had the jumbo shrimp and they did not skimp on the order. Ordered mu shu pork. Was ok but it was prepared way differently then usual and round pancakes were squares of what seemed like egg roll wrappers. The sesame chicken combination was good but 2/3 container was rice and 1/3 chicken. The shrimp w/lobster sauce combination was tasty but 2/3 of container was rice and only 6 shrimp in a sauce with lots if peas and cubed carrots. Crab rangoons were not good tonight. Not made with the usual dough and the filling was soft and almost runny. Also the fried dough was hard and the filling was coming out. Not their usual servings. Horrible Customer Service. I attempted to return my food because it was not what I ordered. They refused to refund me my money. He said he would not make me new food but instead take my old food back and add the right sauce to it. I was completely disgusted by that. He was also very loud and rude and when I asked him to lower his voice and that no one else needed to hear our conversation because I was trying to be discreet he got louder. No 1 china was nothing special, despite its Yelp reviews. As we all know, there are several factors which weigh in on how our experience with a delivery was. I'll address each one of mine below: Delivery Time: faster than I expected and the driver was polite. Great! Food Temperature: The food was lukewarm, not hot. But it was 7pm on a Friday. They're busy, I get that. No harm done. The Appetizer, Crab Rangoon: Standard fried dough around cream cheese. Not bad for a $4 appetizer. Came with a sweet and sour sauce that was about par for most carry out places. The Entrée, Orange Chicken: This is where I was most disappointed. I tend to judge Chinese takeout by the quality of their orange chicken. It's my favorite dish and I've ordered it from dozens of places in Maryland. In my experience there's three important things in an Orange Chicken dish. 1. the chicken (duh) 2. the sauce 3. the fried batter How did theirs hold up? The Chicken: to their credit, was all white meat chicken. This is the best choice for orange chicken since it tends to be leaner, giving the dish a welcome contrast to all the wet textures. Point goes to No 1 China. The Sauce: nigh flavorless. Little more than watery corn syrup. It wasn't spicy in any sense of the word despite the cute little chili pepper icon next to it on their menu. It had no orange flavor whatsoever and even failed to be sweet at all. Bland grey-hued mush sauce. Mmmm mmm! that's what everyone hopes for when they order right? ....bleh. The Batter: speaking of bland mush, the batter was just that. No flavor. Not crispy at all (and in a soft meat dish covered in viscous sauce, the crispy batter is very important!) ugh. Now lucky for me I can fix this. I took it home, tossed it in a wok with fresh orange zest, sake, and red pepper flakes. This brought it back into the realm of edible, but just barely. If you don't mind ordering a fixer upper dish, their service, speed, and prices were good. I probably won't revisit them, sadly. read more

Hands down, one of the better Chinese food places I have been to. Reason for the 5 stars is for quality, consistency of food, and fast service. I usually get hot and sour soup, orange chicken, and mai fun. Other food items I get are spring rolls, broccoli/beef and the Happy Family combination. I visited the restaurant tonight 7/27/2020, and ordered my food and it was not great. I didn't even finish my Kung Pao Chicken and in fact tossed it in the trash and I eat almost anything. The chicken was incredibly dry which made me wonder if it old. My husbands Orange Chicken was better. But the King Pao was a waste of money and I dint appreciate the fact that it was breaded. I've never had Kung Pao with breaded chicken, but when the chicken is breaded it's easier to cover it up with sauce. No thank you. read more
