The hot donuts melt in your mouth due to the soft texture of the bread, and the toppings are not too sweet. I do like that the donuts are warm when you order them and they were ready fast. The problem I had was the glaze all over my box. I set my box on my seat in the car and guess what, there was icing on my seat. I picked up the box and guess what, there was icing on my hand. Stopped in to DD without knowing too much about them....I was just craving a donut and had recently discovered this location. I didn't know you could make your own, which might be a cool option for some but I decided to select a few from their menu. I ordered the vanilla with vanilla frosting/salted caramel drizzle and toffee crunches, the blueberry cake, and the maple and bacon donut. My favorite were the toffee crunch and blueberry. The donuts have weight/density to them, but it was all flavor (instead of what tasted like a mouthful of dry bread with another donut chain I tried). The maple bacon wasn't bad, but I think I like the one from Sugar Shack better. So what I'm discovering in my donut adventures is that some donut creations are done better in certain stores than others, and that I can't say that I like one particular place over all the others. From the moment we walked in customer service was non-existent and basically unacceptable We ordered ahead and walked in to no greeting or anything. As they continued to give out orders they never acknowledged us once. We were standing right at the counter! They walked up and away multiple times and never said a word. After 10 minutes I suggested we ask if the order sitting on the side was ours. We spoke up about being unacknowledged and asked about the order and were told that it wasn't ours and the young man pulled a receipt to say it was ours and he was going to get it started. First, how do you know it's ours if you haven't said 1 word to us since we walked thru the door? Do we just happen look like the name on the receipt? My mind went so many places that I will not repeat. But then to top it off, a man who came in and ordered got his dozen donuts before us! So we ordered 2 hours in advance and stood at the counter being ignored, yet you allegedly know that particular receipt was ours, but never made our order? And we still had to wait behind a walk-in customer? Got it. And the young man behind the counter had a slight attitude about it and kept apologizing in the most patronizing way possible. I was ready to go at that point. Then the cashier came over and tried to joke it off to lighten the mood. Nope. We ordered our donuts around 4 pm for 6:30 pickup. We arrived at 6:30. We didn't get our donuts until 6:45. Another issue I have with this place is that there are boxes stacked up behind the counter (where they ice the donuts) like they just moved in or are about to move out. Not only is it an eye sore, it's unsanitary! A breeding ground for rodents and bugs, perhaps? I can't believe management is okay with that.
