We celebrated our anniversary at Texas de Brazil on Saturday, & it was such a great experience from beginning to end. We had reservations, grabbed a seat at the bar while we waited, & were pleasantly surprised when they seated us in a private dining room. It was such a thoughtful touch that made our anniversary feel even more special. A lot has changed since my last visit, especially the seating arrangement, but one thing that hasn't changed is the outstanding service. It was A1. The gauchos kept the meats coming nonstop... honestly, they were still stopping by even when our cards were flipped to red, & I wasn't mad at it one bit! The salad area has always been my favorite part, & it did not disappoint. Everything was fresh, well-stocked, & constantly being replenished despite how packed the restaurant was. The lamb was absolutely delicious... honestly, every cut of meat we tried was. My advice? Show up with an empty stomach because the food just keeps coming. Also, for first-time visitors, you can't take leftover food home, only dessert. One thing I appreciated was the manager stopping by our table to personally check on us, making sure everything was going well & asking if we needed anything. I always love when management is present & genuinely engaged with their guests. One helpful tip: you're welcome to bring your own wine (up to two bottles), but there is a corkage fee. We went Saturday night for a pre Father's Day meal. We've had a reservation for 5 (3A's 2K's) for 6:00pm and arrived at 5:30pm. Approached the hostess area and informed them we were here early and all parties were there. She asked if it was 5 adults and I informed her no, 3 adults 2kids and we'd need a high chair. Hostess said okay be a couple minutes. No problem. I get a text through open table my reservation had been updated to 3. Hostess alerts us we're ready and they seat us at a small 4 top table. Inquire as to where a 5 top is and they tell us that since we have a high chair it doesn't count so their policy is to put us at a smaller table. Look around and everybody with kids has plenty room at their table except one couple where the child was seated on a lap. Inform them that we requested and reserved space for 5 not 4 and are told "this is what we do". Moment later the male manager comes by and seems to be agitated and asks how many are in the party and I tell him 5. He then says it'll be awhile and storms off. Shortly after they push two two-top tables together in the front hear the hostess stand and seat us. If you're not familiar with TDB it's the Brazilian style steakhouse where they bring the meat to your table on large skewers. They have a large help yourself salad bar with plenty of options and additions. Their lobster bisque is absolutely delicious. The meat was phenomenal as usual. The picahna/top sirloin was the best followed up by flank steak. They had filet mignon, spicy sirloin, sausage, Parmesan chicken and pork, and tri tip on the menu. All was good. I will say that I don't recommend sitting in the front as the gauchos don't seem to venture to the front as often as they do the middle to rear area and when they did they were generally less quality on the meat option. Management did come to the table a couple times and ask for request and we would get very fresh options then. It was pricey this go around at approximately $60 per adult and the 4 year old was $5. We had spring water because I didn't realize they charged you $8 per bottle. We also had a bottle of TDB Cab wine $52 and it was good. I prefer the TDB red blend though. I've always been a fan of TDB but this trip really aggravated me with the seating options then the smart aleck mouth on the hostess and both managers. Our waitress was nice but she wasn't as attentive as should be for a place of this price. She had multiple tables and we seemed to be bottom of the list. After 15 or so minutes we had to ask the manager for our wine and replacement bread took about 30 min before she got back to us. Our table was never busted as we sat, we had to remove the dirty plates and set on an adjacent table ourselves. I will say make a reservation before you go because they were super busy on a Saturday night. I'm giving 2 stars due to the experience. Great lunch at Texas de Brazil! This location is spacious, clean, and perfect for both large parties and date night. We started with the soup and salad bar and everything was fresh, well-stocked, and delicious. Once the meats started coming, we tried about 10 different cuts ranging from steak to chicken to lamb. Everything was seasoned well and cooked perfectly. The sides of mashed potatoes and fried bananas complemented the meal nicely. I also had three of the blueberry martinis and they were so good. Our server, "Big Drew" (Andrew), went above and beyond to make sure we had a great first-time experience; from thoughtful dish recommendations to perfectly pairing drinks with our food. Amazing service in a stunning and beautiful atmosphere, Texas de Brazil did not disappoint. We were offered various cuts of steak, lamb, chicken and sausage along with unlimited access to the salad bar. The salad bar featured mixed greens, assorted cheeses, hot side items like lobster bisque and potatoes au gratin--as well as a variety of cold items like couscous, smoked salmon and pickled veggies. I actually enjoyed the salad bar the most because it allowed me to try a variety of Brazilian dishes. The meats were mostly tasty but a few of them were actually quite bitter and flavorless. This may just be a personal preference from someone who doesn't eat a lot of red meat but I think Texas de Brazil could stand to add a bit more flavor to the steaks. That said, I have to give praise to the staff for picking up on the fact that I don't eat pork. After a few rounds of rejecting the sausage and bacon-wrapped items, they started to bring only Kosher items to our table, even going so far as to place an order for chicken wings. Our server was also amazing, making sure we were comfortable and well-hydrated. Also the cheese breads brought to our table were so delicious and tasty and quite possibly my fave bite of the night: I had to stop myself from eating all of them! TDB also has a huge desert selection that I want to try upon my return.... After a couple visits, I must say I do enjoy this spot. Definitely a higher class dining establishment, but a great experience nonetheless. Watching the men go around the building with swords of different meats is pretty fascinating. I haven't had anything other than the meats that go around and the French fries, which are amazing. Never even been to the salad bar, and I don't know what's the cost of anything. Everyone working here is polite and patient, and it's a very busy place for sure. There's a lot of seating, but not a lot of room. They have a bar in the front with a television but I don't think any around the dining area. Some of the meats can be seasoned better, but I imagine with the demand of it in the restaurant, it's hard to do. I recommend it, especially if you're a big carnivore, as you can eat all the meat that they offer, as you want. There's like 14 different kinds of food they go around with on swords, including chicken, lamb, and beef in many different shapes and forms. Giving it a 3 Star based upon Service and Atmosphere, penalizing it 2 stars due to price and quality of meat. So this is not my first rodeo with the Brazilian Steakhouse concept it is a great place to meet with friends and have good time while eating and having drinks. That said, let's start with the bad... chicken dry, fillet was told to be medium rare but was in fact several times "rare/blue" inside and we piled a plate up at the table with this meat as no one dared try it. Management never came over to check how things were, our waiter was amazing and the meat servers on point as they kept coming, but I think on a larger party a manager should always make a presence. Oh and the price... WOW $58.99 and I will agree with another reviewer the meat lacked seasoning and flavor by the time I walked out with tip bill was $232.00 for two people. We live a little over an hour away from Texas De Brazil but we still manage to eat here a few times a year. The food is always delicious but the service is very slow. The steaks and chicken are cooked well and served hot. The salad bar has some delicious options as well like the scalloped potatoes and lobster bisque. The restaurant always looks nice and clean. The cheese bread and cream potatoes they bring to the table are fantastic Unfortunately the service is really slow. The initial drinks and refills always take a very long time. Sometimes it can take a while to get the cheese bread and potatoes. The frequency you receive pieces of meat also varies drastically. Sometimes you may have to wait 15+ minutes before meat is brought to your table. It seems to come out in waves. There's no meat for a while, then a short stream of meat, then no meat. You have to load up when you can to have enough to ride out the "drought". I assume they cook a big batch, send that out, then start cooking again. If they could improve the service time, it would easily be 5 stars, but don't let that be a reason to pass on Texas De Brazil, it's still worth a visit read more

While our individual server, Madison, did her best to take care of our needs. The quality of the food for the money was not even worth the trip. Besides the fact that the lamb chops were previously included at $49.99 there is a considerable up charge for them at $59.99. Additionally the service of the gauchos was very poor. After successfully getting 3 very small filet servings, another 45 minutes passed before our server was able to get the filet to our table. This used to be worth the trip to Baton Rouge and one of my favorite places to go but I wouldn't personally recommend it going forward. I could have eaten better food with better service at Texas Roadhouse for 1/3 as much, and unless Texas de Brazil seriously improves their service and price it's doubtful I'll go there again read more

The only Brazillian Steakhouse in Baton Rouge. If you are reading this review you likely understand the concept of a Brazillian Steakhouse. I will spare you the instructions on what to do. Want the meat sweats? You can get them here. Want to plan a holiday party for about 30 people? You can do that too. My non-party visits here have all been pretty solid. The meat is plentiful and the salad bar is a site to behold. My party visit was easy to plan. I put down some money and paid the remainder the night of. They put us in a private room which was a blessing and a curse. A blessing because we had two tables all to ourselves and it felt like a Christmas Party should feel. A curse because it seemed like we did not get the level of meat service that we would have had we been in the main room. I suspect this is because many of our party would get the food before it would make it to the back. But, they did try their best to accommodate our requests. If we go here again I will seat the heavy meat eaters towards the front and the slackers towards the back. All that aside, the food was cooked to our liking and our server was great. If you want a private party with lots of options, I would recommend it. Note: Parking is limited. A few in our group didn't read the signs and got booted. I Ubered so I was good. read more

We went here for a company Christmas Party, 24 people in our group. Now I'm sure it's going to sound like a complaint when I say the service was slow and it took an hour to get our cocktails BUT they was slammed and only had 1 bartender. However they did forget his beer and then brought him a hot one Everything was so beautiful, from the decor to the food. We was in awe! That salad bar was off the hook and the lobster bisque was absolutely to die for. Once the meat started coming out it seemed like meat was everywhere. We all had such an amazing time and I legit witnessed in person a man at our table actually get the meat sweats, it was crazy. The garlic mashed potatoes wasn't good and we found them to be way to runny. And the cinnamon sugared plantains was the worst. But the rest was spectacular. This was me and my wife's first time eating at this restaurant. After we got our water, our waitress pretty much left us to wait on a larger table, bit still supposed to be our waitress. I get she gets a larger tip from the large table but we still paid, we even tipped her more than recommended despite her poor service. After we were done with the salad we had no clue what we were to do, whether we get our own clean plate, or wait for her, which I am glad we didn't have to wait for that. One of the members of staff in a sport coat came, and spoke to us. This was a long time after our waitress left. I finally was told there was more than water or alcoholic beverages on the menu. We got our fries and mashed potatoes. Then after sitting there we received a sliver of flank steak. Then the waiting began. Empty plate no skewers really coming. Every once in awhile someone came our way. We ate the small portion and waited again. While this was going on, I watched the large table get skewer after skewer of meat. They just kept coming for them. Where we did not get much. I watched two tables of ten, sat after us, finish before us. I highly recommend not doing a date night here. Only go with a larger group. The food tasted good, I have no complaints about that. The service was absolutely terrible. After the waitress was done with the large table, she finally came to us again. Without telling her a word, she began talking about the big table and how she was sorry but she had the big table to work on. She sat there telling us to tell her we were happy and stuff. She knew she did not do her job and wanted us to feel like she was slaving at the big table. Do not have plans for after because if your waiter goes to a big table it will take forever to eat your meal. EDIT: After I wrote the review I looked at other reviews and observed someone talking about if you are seated in the front of the dining area you don't get much food. Well we were seated in the front of the dining area and like he said the meat was raw. Well only the flank steak was under done for us. When you are hungry and food is not coming around we took what we could get at that point. I also do not understand how a complaint is made about a problem and the issue remains. If someone makes a complaint about the food not making it to the front of the restaurant, why was the issue not addressed and resolved when the first complaint was made. That was a lot of money to be abandoned by your waiter. Food not making it to you until you are about ready to leave from the frustration of being scammed into this. My family and I had an 8:00 p.m. reservation at Texas de Brazil and arrived early at 7:50 p.m., only to be told we would have to wait an additional hour. This is the second time this exact situation has happened at this restaurant, which clearly lacks professionalism and competent management. Back in February, on my birthday, my husband and I experienced the same issue, completely ruining what should have been a special evening. At this point, it is fair to ask: what is the purpose of making a reservation if you have no intention of honoring it? The staff was unapologetic and outright rude, casually responding with "oh well, we're overbooked" as if that excuses wasting people's time and disrespecting paying customers. Overbooking is not the customer's problem. If mistakes are made, the least staff can do is respond with humility and basic courtesy instead of dismissive attitudes that ruin an entire night. This restaurant is poorly managed and consistently fails at the most basic expectation of dining service. Save your time, your money, and your patience and go somewhere that actually values its customers, like Ruth's Chris or Fleming's. At restaurants that understand hospitality, reservations mean you arrive and are seated, which is the entire point of having a reservation. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Texas de Brazil and the food was very good. It's probably the only restaurant in Baton Rouge I hadn't visited. And it was obvious why I hadn't tried this place and that I won't be returning. I am 76 years old. Like most seniors I don't eat large portions of anything. They don't stop coming by your table and offering you delicious meats. I could never get my money's worth in this setting. If you're younger I believe this would be the place for you. Great service and so many variations of meat. If you like meat and plenty of it, this place is for you. The ambience is probably different from anything you have experienced. I enjoyed just being there with friends and relatives and watching them eat. When the dust settled between some seniors but mostly young adults I believe we got our money's worth and then some. read more

I'm very very disappointed in Texas de Brazil as I thought they were a reputable restaurant that could be trusted. I placed an order directly on their website to have a meal delivered to a family member in assisted living on Christmas Day, but it was NEVER delivered. It appears that they hire toast to deliver their food orders made directly with Texas de Brazil, and replied that I would need to contact Toast, even though I didn't place the order with Toast. Toast agreed that the order was delivered to the wrong address, but stated since the order was directly through Texas de Brazil, I would need to contact them, and they would need to contact support at Toast to address the matter. When I returned the call and let Management know at Texas de Brazil what Toast said, they replied that I've already paid them and the order was made and they would not assist any more, that it's at my cost and no replacement meal would be provided - and that no Christmas meal order can now be placed, that it was too late. This is low down disrespectful and is not forgivable. Telling me that I'm at loss for the cost, not replacing the order on Christmas Day, and not contacting Toast since I didn't order through toast. read more

This place is a far cry from what it used to be. Went occasionally for years but thats probably over now. Seems like they've had high turnover as some of the employees that were there for a long time every time we went were gone. The service was kind of just bad. Our waiter took forever doing pretty much anything and had to be cued to do the basics like refill water and bring the bread. Full price is closing in on 70 bucks now and thats horrible for a high end dining price. All the meat was overcooked. The only good piece of meat I had was the lamb sirloin, and when they brought it back around later it was burnt. Not charred or well done. A burnt crust that was crunchy and gross. Service was painfully slow - 15+ minutes for water refills. I was surprised to be charged an additional $9 for my son's lamb 4 lamb chops, which seemed petty considering the cost of eating there. It used to be included and it is included at Fogo de Chao in New Orleans. It wasn't mentioned to us when we ordered. It was my son's birthday so I didn't make a stink about it when I saw it on the check. We will stick with Fogo in the future. We live in New Orleans but my son attends LSU. My first experience with Texas De Brazil was during restaurant week in 2019. That was a total nightmare, they were very unprepared and my friend and I waited until midnight to be seated, several hours past closing time. Several hours of waiting it would have been nice if we were told that's how long it would take. Anywho thought I would give it another go. The staff was great, very attentive so they actually deserve 5 stars. Some of the meat was really good, and some not so good. The sirloin was the best, I got a bacon wrapped filet mignon that was pure grissle and it was inedible. It happens. I remember last time a couple meats were too salty, most of the seasoning was on par tonight. The exception was the braised beef ribs, there was no seasoning there. The salad bar shone through, the pineapple carpaccio, lobster bisque, and variety of cheese was delicious. Not worth almost $50 per person though I wouldn't even say worth the $20 they charge for the salad bar alone. The bananas are also delicious. The bathroom was filthy, the rolls of toilet paper are sitting on the trash can, not on the roll. My boyfriend and I came here for the first time and it was so good. It is on the pricier side but if you can eat a lot of meat then it is worth it. They had so many options between charcuterie and cheeses, vegetables, sides, and of course a ton of meat options. They had chicken, pork, steak, lamb, and picanha, and even bacon wrapped options too. The service was also great. I like my steak cooked medium and was given a pretty rare filet. When the waitress came by and I asked could just get it cooked more, it she said she would immediately send someone out with a new one. I made a reservation on OpenTablr after and there was room for an hour instead of an hour and fourth five minutes but we still waited at least 15 minutes. Ask for the garlic mash potatoes my kids loved those. It's a nice place to have a date night. Make sure to do reservations ahead of time. For anyone who has been to both, it's impossible to avoid comparing Texas de Brazil to their main competitor in the churrascaria game, Fogo de Chão. Both feature large salad bars with rotisserie-grilled meats served rodízio-style ― that is, with roving waiters who carve meats directly onto customers' plates. Many things (garlic mashed potatoes, pão de queijo, feijoada) are the same. However, some things seem exclusive to each place: Fogo de Chão has its grilled pineapple and fried polenta, while Texas de Brazil offers potatoes au gratin and lobster bisque. It's largely a toss-up, though I personally think Texas de Brazil's fantastic potatoes au gratin (why even bother with the mashed potatoes?) and slightly more flavorful feoijoada push their market table a notch above. But... who comes to churrascaria for the market table? And here's where Fogo de Chão wins: On my recent visit to Texas de Brazil, the meats were, to a fault, nearly all overcooked. We were told they aim for medium-rare, but what we got mostly landed on medium-well. Fogo de Chão gets their meats cooked better, which is why I'd give them the edge. Of course, Fogo de Chão is in New Orleans, but Texas de Brazil is here in Baton Rouge, so the latter will probably remain our only option for churrascaria when I visit. Service was excellent all around, and I wouldn't hesitate to visit again. I just hope I could get some better cooked meat next time. read more

Texas de Brazil was the first stop on me and my husband's date night tour. We sat at the bar, loved the ambiance. We were greeted promptly & politely. Our drinks were so good, it was the perfect start to our night. read more

Visited for a relative's birthday dinner this past weekend. She'd previously reserved a "private room" and paid over $100 for reservation fee. Our party arrived on time, neither one of the hostess could find the reservation and we waited over half an hour to be accommodated. We were surprised to find the "private room" had to be shared with other patrons but eager to celebrate, my relative did not make a fuss about this. There were at least 20 people in our party so we did the best to make everyone fit. The waitress seemed overwhelmed by our large number and proceeded to inform us that she would only be able to charge 5 cards UNLESS we were all patient with her. It was an odd comment to make, being that everyone in our party was in a pleasant mood, happy to celebrate our girl and no one had sat down long enough to make her feel rushed, let alone fuss over anything. I will disclose that I've been to this restaurant a few times before and while I find the food delicious, I don't get the hype. The food never settles well and I immediately start to feel ill, this occasion was no different. I felt sick almost immediately after my first plate and had to stop eating. I thought this was a personal issue until I noticed someone else in our party had to excuse themselves to the restroom and remained there for a while. While it's understandable that perhaps the food doesn't agree with every one; I found out later on that a few others in our party reported upset stomachs. The other issue was a $9 reservation fee that was slapped on each person tab. Lastly, the waitress seemed pressured to get us out of her hair and after picking up our cards (she was able to give everyone their individual tickets after all) grabbed the manager to inform my relative that her ticket had to exceed the hefty reservation fee, which it did! Maybe this isn't a big deal, it's Just not the way to go about this sort of thing, birthday girl could have been pulled aside. When the manager realized his maths were wrong, He walked off, do not recall hearing an apology. I do not plan to return. Recommend looking elsewhere for steak (Doe's Eat Place on government will always be king in BR). This is a chain restaurant, if I'm not mistaken, so I'll leave up to them to figure out how to fix their issues. read more
