Worst place to get a drink in the hole AV!! I'm a grown adult I would like to taste liquor in my drink!!!

I used to love this place, I've been going for at least 25 years, since I was a kid, but after last night, I'm never going back. The waitress was awkward at best and rude as hell otherwise. The food was not worth the price I paid. My daughter and son couldn't eat their meals (they're both teenagers, they eat a lot) and the fries were terribly over cooked. When I informed the waitress of the issue she supposedly spoke with the manager and only gave me 25% off the bill. I know it sounds like a lot but I paid $50.00 for food that was mostly inedible. read more

The burger was under cooked, like raw, I asked for it to be cooked medium. The onions were missing also. The burger just looked like it was put together in a hurry. They were understaffed that night and made my party wait a long time. We waited an hour for service and this is what I got! A gross, raw burger. What made me upset was the attitude of the manager who told me not to come back and eat there again. All I did was return the food and asked for my check for my wine. I didn't want to wait any longer for them to remake their mistake. He didn't have to tell me to never come back--I never will!Disgusting "food" and rude staff. read more

Went with the family about a week ago and WOW, I had the Ribs and Tri-tip.. it was pretty freaking good. What I recommend is the Brisket, my daughter got that and all I can say is YUM. I'm from Texas and this is close enough to how we do BBQ. Our wait staff was on point... Had a great experience, our new steak place. You know how it goes, you go once and it's great go back a second time and get disappointed..hopefully that won't happen. read more

An AV classic. My family used to eat here on a regular basis and we always enjoyed it. Life quit taking us to that part of town, so we hadn't eaten here for a number of years - not to mention a couple of less than stellar experiences with their now defunct mall location. As luck would have it, we've eaten here 3 times in the last couple months and it's been great. Unique sweet and salty popcorn to start, followed by hearty meals at reasonable prices. What's not to like? While I do miss the train running around the restaurant, the service has been great and the food is very good. Personally, I really enjoy the "kitchen sink" burger (can't remember what they call it, but it's got everything on it). And the root beer float is divine! They've evidently nixed the weight watchers part of the menu, but as you can tell from my selections, that wasn't a major attraction to me anyway. :) read more

My husband was looking for a "surf and turf" dinner and your online menu had one, a steak and salmon dinner for 21.95 (it is still on the online menu as of this review). When we got to the restaurant, we couldn't find the meal on the physical menu. We asked our server, and showed him the online menu, but he had no idea what we were talking about. After asking the manager, he came back and said that the online menu, the one that got us into the restaurant in the first place, wasn't available yet. Because we had already been there for over 20 minutes and didn't have time to go to another place, we just ordered sandwiches and fries, which, in all fairness, were well-prepared and tasty, but expensive. We had to ask several times for a refill on our $3.50 and $4.50 soft drinks and our "dinner" totaled over $40 before tip. I want to support local businesses and I live near this place and would love to eat there more, but this is not good business practice. Your manager should have offered to provide this advertised menu item for us or a substitution, it wouldn't have hurt anything, but now we aren't likely to go back. read more

The food was decent, but the service and the cleanliness of the place was terrible. They put old/stale popcorn on the tables, like the stuff that comes out of Christmas tins. The burgers were ok, nothing to rave about. Tables were dirty and sticky when we sat down. The place felt like it needed to be cleaned throughly. Service was some of the worse I have had in a long time. We sat for 10-15 mins before a drink order was taken. And we were never asked if we wanted refills or another beer. This was always my family's favorite bbq restaurant, so we chose Texas Cattle Co to celebrate my parent's 26th wedding anniversary. We had reservations to arrive at 7:00pm. As we sat down the waitress told us they ran out of popcorn. It was NOT busy at all and we were practically ignored, having to go search for the waitress several times. It took an hour for her to finally take our food and drink orders. We didn't even get the chance to order appetizers. Our dinner came out extremely slow and only 2 people at a time got some sort of food, we had 4 children with us that didn't get anything to eat until 8:30pm, an hour and a half after we arrived. Once we finally got our food the waitress told us one of the meals was not ready and we had to wait "2 more minutes" then comes back and says they ran out of potato salad and that person needed to order something else. He finally received his meal 20 minutes later. This was truly a bad experience and we are all so disappointed. I also called to talk to a manager or the owner and was told I could leave my number, no one has called back yet. read more

I have been a Texas cattle company fan for years. No matter what you order you can't go wrong. Their burgers are pure awesomeness and they have a strawberry shortcake that is to legit to die for! Omg!!!! I had a blue cheese bacon burger on garlic toast that made me so excited that I almost tipped the table over. The steak was also really good. Great staff. This restaurant is very Texas. The food was delicious. The prices were steep, but in a place where their steaks are pretty big, well now you know. Their buffalo wings, potato skins, and the steaks are the best. The staff was friendly, but a little slow... Great restaurant for families. I frequent the restaurant often and has definitely become part of my weekly program. As soon as you walk in the door your greeted usually by two or more servers who are always smiling, like there actually happy you came to visit. The food has always been delicious and ready to serve. I've been here twice in a week. Their clam chowder is very good and both time I have gotten their chicken sandwich which is really good. First time i came in and was welcomed, the service was a bit slow but could have been that there wasn't many employees since it was a tuesday. Came during a time where there wasn't many other people eating there. Took forever to get sweetener for our table. Appetizer was never put in therefore we never got it. Ended up sending food back because the chicken seemed old and poorly cooked. Then found stuff floating in my drink. Used to frequent this restaurant often... has definitely gone down hill. read more

Save your money and go to Carl's Jr instead. Literally ordered a cheeseburger and it was a western bacon cheeseburger for $16. Husband ordered a large sandwich and it was bland dry and wilted. Ribeye steak baked potato and baked beans excellent & good sized steak (12oz), hubby got Sirloin steak mashed potatoes & baked beans and a large draft corona paid 60.. The steaks were seriously worth it, they were soo good! The sides weren't great but still ok.. and the service was EXCELLENT! Never even got to finish my pop because they kept dropping by to fill it back up! If I could give 0 stars I would. Asked if they use the restaurant.com cards and was told yes they even double checked. Then when we go to pay all of a sudden they do but only a portion of it. Was a little irritated with that and then the staff was extremely rude about it afterwards. Not only that but the menu had little hairs all over it and the food wasn't very good. Expensive!! Outback's rib-eye is cheaper, and at least it LOOKS like a steak. The rib-eye here looks like a flank steak- unfortunately, it tastes about the same, too! (Sizzler does a better steak these days, and I'm a steak freak). Everything was a tad overdone or listless- Service was about the same. Suggestion for new owners. With current state of economy a coupon would be great. Other restaurants in the area run coupon offers and see their sales spike. Camille's, etc. Texas should run coupon offers like buy one get one with purchase of two drinks. They would see more traffic and get the spike they need in their sales. read more

Now let's be clear, TCC is not Morton's, Providence, Hatfield's, or Craft so if you're looking to spend 60+ bucks on a steak this may not be the shishi experience that you're going for. However this place is not Sizzler, Black Angus, or Outback either. What it is is the best damn steak you're going to find in Los Angeles County for the price. You heard me right, the ENTIRE County of Los Angeles - and it's in Lancaster. When I walked in I was neither impressed nor put off by the ambience. It was Monday night around 5:30 so it was noticeably desolate, minus the occasional senior citizen couple or sad old man here and there, but I was promptly greeted by the friendly and charismatic host (yes, host, not hostess) named Stephen who exuded the type of youthful exuberance only displayed by those who have yet to suffer a soul crushing defeat. In other words he was peachy keen. Stephen showed me to my booth... okay, to be honest I pee'd first, but that doesn't matter for the sake of this review so like I said before HE SHOWED ME TO MY BOOTH. Soon therafter I was delivered an overflowing basket of semi-stale buttered popcorn/kettle corn and within a matter of minutes my lovely server, Rebecca, greeted me. She was delightful, full of menu knowledge and cunning with her upsales without coming across as disingenuous or pushy. I asked which was more popular, the $20 porterhouse or the $18 rib eye, and sensing her hesitation I asked instead her personal preference. She quickly told me it was the porterhouse as it was a leaner cut. Well that was the wrong answer but I appreciated her effort (as any steak aficionado will tell you the most important aspect of choosing a cut, unless it's filet mignon, is the marbling as it dictates both the juiciness and tenderness of the meat). Of course, she was watching her figure and I'm ostensibly eating for two. I then ordered a $4.95 glass of merlot, simply called Merlot, to arrive with my meal. As I waited I was brought a huge salad ill fit to the small wooden bowl it was served in. Fortunately it was so delicious that it soon fit just fine with a little room to spare. The iceberg/romaine blend was crisp, fresh, and shredded to the bite sized ideal. It was tossed with cabbage, black olives, diced tomatoes, and croutons and paired with one of the most flavorful and well balanced bleu cheese dressings I've ever tasted. It's at times like this when I seriously contemplate the ease with which one could be a vegetarian... Then my steak arrived and I said fuck that noise! First off, it was seared to perfection, not charred but with the distinct checkered pattern from where the flames had kissed and caressed my meat until it was ready to lay before me. Unfortunately, the chef accidentally spilt some baby tomatoes and red and yellow peppers shaped like clovers on my steak - I say unfortunately because I don't want to believe that anyone would consider this a decent garnish - but luckily three onion rings also made there way on there so all was forgiven; and it was served with "garlic" mashed potatoes topped with just a fling of shredded cheese which I soon regretted ordering instead of the baked potato or fries once I saw it's slightly watery consistency. The Texas Toast however could be proudly displayed on the cover of The Betty Crocker Cookbook. Now let's get to the pièce de résistance... the steak... it was perfect. PERFECT! Medium rare, of course, you well done people are freaks who should just save these cooks the trouble and eat your own shoes instead. Light pink on the inside, but not bleeding or undercooked, and the flavor was amazing. Now for better or worse, oh who am I kidding, for worse, I'm an advent salter. This steak however didn't need a single grain of salt, pepper, or otherwise and I savored every last morsel. I would have even gnawed on the shank bone like a malnourished street dog if I didn't think it would've terrified the old people. It was American heaven... or Indian hell (dot or feather, take your pick, joke works either way). I then washed down my decadent victory with the glass of "Merlot" merlot and asked Rebecca for my check and a small bag. She graciously took care of my every need with a heartfelt warmth and didn't even look at me sideways when I told her I planned on sneaking that stale popcorn into the movies with me. Probably the worse food in the AV. I have lived here almost all my life and have only been here a handful of times but every single time there has been something wrong or weird with our food. They seated us right away (probably because the place was dead) the waitress came to take our order. Then I asked her if the salad came with romaine lettuce or with mixed greens. She said it was mixed greens. I said "perfect". I have not had romaine in quite a bit ever since there has been problems with people getting sick from it. I ordered the "Texas rancher" salad. When it came it was on a bed of iceberg and romaine lettuce. The so called "steak" was GRAY and dry looking! The avocados were brown and soft. The whole thing looked horrible ( I wish I would've taken a picture). So I asked her why it was on romaine? She said that IS their "mixed greens". My daughters rice was full of oil (dripping),my sons plain hamburger (not by choice, that's how it came) was very dry.. so was the bun. Popcorn was stale. My husband ordered the Texas steak sandwich and the meat also looked gray. It didn't even look like steak, it looked like liver. Well he ate half of it (with a lot of BBQ sauce) and was sick when we got home. Needless to say we will NEVER go back there again. Last time we went we had sour (very old) salsa given to us with stale chips. I know there are some people that love this place but I don't know why.
