Strongly recommend Terre. We came for dinner for my girlfriend's birthday and had an incredible experience. We sat on the outdoor patio and felt safe, so we were able to focus on the wonderful food and excellent service. Honestly everything on the menu looked good, so our server helped with some recommendations that were spot on. To start, we had the best artichoke dish either of us can ever remember having (grilled on crostini) and a porcini chestnut stew that was hearty and perfect for the fall weather. Then we had a fantastic pasta course (cacio e pepe), perfectly prepared, followed up with the swordfish (very fresh and happily-ensconced in a comforting tomato broth), all washed down with a glass of Brunello. We finished up with the tiramisu which felt incredibly light for something so rich and delicious. Both our server and a gentleman who seemed to maybe be the proprietor were warm and engaging and really created a wonderful experience for us. Came here during COVID and sat in their backyard that made me forget that I was still in Brooklyn. The ambience was super cute and the entire place was very well decorated. The service was outstanding and the waiter was very accommodating and explained everything well. The heaters were warm and you were provided with a blanket upon request. Their wine list was extremely lengthy and the orange wine was interesting to learn about and drink. I had the gnocchi and my friend and I shared the octopus. Both were phenomenal. We made a reservation on Tuesday for Friday and had requested a table outside. I called an hour before the 7:45 reservation to make sure everything was in order. They said to come at 8:15 to make sure our table outside would be available. This was a bit off-putting, but it sounded somewhat reasonable. We arrived a few minutes before 8:15, just in case the table was ready earlier. Turns out they made us wait another 40 mins. When we were finally at our table they gave us some cheap prosecco to try to make us feel better about the delay, but things kept getting worse. We ordered, after the waiter convinced us that one of the specials was the best option. The food didn't come for at least 1 hr. It was very tasty but very small portions especially after waiting more than an hour and a half, between our time outside and inside. I expected a little more from a 37 dollar pasta, but it barely had any lobster and wasn't filling at all. We had wanted the 18 dollar ragú, but HE said that was the same as everywhere else. We ended up paying a lot of money for food that wasn't even that amazing. After all the suffering and the wait, my fiancé was still hungry after dinner. We then decided to order the tiramisù to see if he could get a little fuller and even that was disappointing; the cake was tiny and it was mainly a huge layer of cream and then the tiny cake inside. This place has good flavors, but even though the waiters were nice, the service in general was very slow and disappointing. In general, overpriced and dissatisfying, a very long wait for a not so amazing experience. Next time I hope they can offer their dissatisfied clients a bettet treat than a cheap glass of prosecco. All natural wines (with a wait person who could discuss each and everyone of them with style and flair), home-made pasta, incredible background music, and just a warm and cozy vibe. What's not to like. The food was outstanding. We sampled a number of appetizers (the rabbit was absolutely outstanding), enjoyed a few different glasses of wine, and then ordered. Three ordered different pasta dishes and one ordered the braised, yet crispy, black cod. One of the pasta dishes--a stuffed gnocchi--was just other worldly in lightness and taste. The pasta itself, in all three dishes, was so delicious it could have just as easily been enjoyed plain. Everything was outstanding and our charming wait person continued to check in with us throughout the meal even though as the place filled up, navigating between tables became increasingly challenging. Without a doubt, our wait person was certainly one of the major factors in our enjoyment of the meal. Locals tip. Instead of having dessert here, we paid, then went outside and enjoyed gelato from Terre's gelato stand right next to the restaurant--a wide array of flavors were enjoyed by those who indulged. We enjoyed the gelato at a small patio table right in front of the restaurant along with the parade of characters who live in this lovely Brooklyn neighborhood. If you enjoy quality wine, with people knowledgeable about it and home-made paste, Terre is a must stop when dining in Park Slope. read more

Never a bad meal. One of the most delightful restaurants in Brooklyn. It feels like you're in Italy. The bread that comes with the charcuterie (big fan of the prosciutto) is made in-house and charred and oil-drizzled to perfection. Amazing dining experience. It is truly a hidden gem. The restaurant was a little taste of Italy. It had a great outdoor setup in the backyard with heat lamps and blankets. The staff were incredibly attentive and helpful. They were generous with tastings of wine before making a commitment. The food was excellent as well. The burrata was very good but maybe not worth the $25. The gnocchi and the octopus were both delicious and the standouts. The tiramisu was also quite good and a nice end to the meal. You feel like you are sitting on top of people. It's a bit better in the back. But when the restaurant started to fill up it was tight. No where to hang your coat. Next table a woman knocked over and broke a glass just trying to sit down. The owner and stuff was very friendly and discussed the menu and wine in detail. Excellent. The young lady serving us was a little flustered. Ok in the beginning and but when other people walked in we where kind of forgotten about and I had to get her attention to get coffee and desert. Also the topper was she brought over the wrong coffee and spilt the hot coffee on me. Ouch! Apologies but nothing off the bill. One other small point. No bread on table. That is extra. It was explained that they make there own bread for the meals and not extra for the table. So your billed extra if you really want. In my opinion and apparently others who complained not a good move. Wow wow wow! I've been to Italy and had some of the best pasta in the world. This place was the closest to it! I had the Trofie al pesto w/shrimp and it was amazing! The pasta is cooked perfectly, the shrimp was fresh (and from Maine) and the pesto was out of this world. I just went last night and im mostly likely going back tonight or tomorrow. I've been coming to Terre for over two years now and it is one of my favorites. The outdoor space takes you away from NYC and into a beautiful Italian oasis. The service is always impeccable - greeted at the door/when you walk in, polite and patient waiters, great suggestions, never slow. My favorite and must-try dish would be the grilled octopus. The decor is nice, so giving 2 stars vs 1. Stumbled onto this place last night. The cute and cozy decor & menu sucked us in. Now the BAD part. $4.50 for 2 small glasses of lemon soda. So that's $9 for 1 can. Seriously? $10 for bruschetta didn't faze us till we saw what they brought out. ONE PIECE OF BAGUETTE WITH 6 CHERRY TOMATOES CUT IN HALF. Now, the piece of bread that was 3" wide was cut in half, so it was now "two" pieces. For $10???? It was one piece of bread! My husband and I stared at one another and burst out laughing. We said, "well, we certainly got screwed on that!". *bread looks large in photo attached. It's not. It's 3" for $10! Maybe by the time you eat there they will have read this and are now cutting two slices of baguette for this app dish. Ok, so we aren't leaving, so let's see what comes next. The Eggplant "lasagna" app on another teeny tiny bread plate and about 3" wide for $12. At least it was a prepared "cooked" dish unlike cutting a slice of bread for the above. Taste was fine. The shrimp pesto pasta came out and looked great. Normal size. Big shrimp. Sadly, after one bite we had to send back as the pasta was rock hard in the center. We've traveled all though Italy enough to know that's not how they cook pasta. ***FYI, the menu said FRESH TROFIE pasta. Clearly it wasn't fresh as it was dried before cooking hence why it was rock hard in the center. That's bullsh*t! NOW for the BAD part. Sending it back to have it cooked properly didn't upset us. It happens. But it literally needed more time in the water. A good 5 more minutes if not more. That would never keep us from returning to a restaurant. That wasn't the bad part at all. The BAD part was how the waitress and chef were yelling and fighting in Italian because of it. He clearly had an issue over that. We were cracking up at our table waiting for him to come out of the kitchen and yell at us. He kept looking at us over from the kitchen. Seriously????? I've never heard yelling in a kitchen all my years dining out and we've been to hole in the walls to Eleven Madison Park to Le Bernardin. No restaurant should ever do that in public!!!! Not professional and zero etiquette. BTW, the properly cooked re-do was good. No complaints there. If it wasn't for the screaming, we might even come back and just skip the overpriced apps, but not now! So with tip, $64 for one slice of bread, 6 cherry tomatoes, 1 can of lemon soda, one tiny eggplant app, and a pasta dish. No, we won't be back. Absolutely delicious. I had the pappardelle with boar ragu, paired with the waiter's wine recommendation, and my sister had the gnocchi with truffle burrata and mushrooms. We both shared olives and the bread with balsamic, which I HIGHLY recommend! They age their own balsamic and I've never tasted anything like it. The servers were friendly and helpful, and our dishes came out surprisingly quickly. The ambiance is beautiful and rustically charming, good for a date night or a small friend dinner. Stopped by for dinner before our Eastville Comedy show. The place is VERY narrow and at times uncomfortable; however, the ambiance is comparable to traditional restaurants in Italy. There are plenty of vegetarian options - the eggplant and cacio pepe were two of our favorites. Everything is freshly made and they had an extensive natural wine selection. Two stars for our server, great service, took over 10 minutes after being seated to get a menu, which I had to go to the front and ask for. Best thing on the menu was the meat/cheese board. The octopus was over cooked and over salted. The truffle pasta was bland in taste. The boar ragu with pasta had such a heavy cheese taste it wasn't enjoyable. Overall I wouldn't recommend coming here. Restaurant has potential but for the price and quality of the food, it's not worth it. Really wanted to love it but the meal was very meh.
