This particular Terra is located in the old Wooden Duck building (RIP). Think of it as say a Williams and Sonoma for mostly outdoor furniture. First off the customer service is spot on at this location. The salespeople are helpful and unobtrusive. They don't bother you and let you roam unmolested. You can take your time as needed without the usual pressure. The furniture is not cheap, but its is high quality. These are one time purchases and can easily last several generations. read more

This spot is an outdoor furniture haven. Like take all my money. High quality, beautifully designed pieces from teak, to rattan to cushions, to fire pits and decor items; I wanted it all. Memorial Day and Labor Day, folks. This is when these pieces are drastically on sale. Without sale prices, I sadly wouldn't be able able to afford it, but if I had the dough I'd come here. Service matches the high price. Everyone was attentive and friendly and us asking to see different umbrellas in different tables was met with smiles and no problem. We went with a teak table, which on sale was similarly cost to anything you'd find on any of the sites including overstock and wayfair and it's beautiful. We also ended up with an umbrella and stand and it's pretty standard and I'm sure could have found a little bit cheaper, but all good. Delivery was a flat $179 fee. It took about 9 biz days to get and there was a minor snafu with delivery time: they came an hour earlier than their projected time, but we were home so it was fine. We did have the option to pick up at their Richmond warehouse free of charge. Overall, I'll revisit Terra during their annual sales, for sure. Great quality, great service and we absolutely love our table and umbrella. read more

Terra offers comfortable rope furniture which can't be repaired. For example, the Diablo Dining Side Chair is currently listed for $450. Before I bought a chair, I asked about repairing it. The rope they use is quite strong, but will eventually break, leaving the buyer with an aluminum frame but nothing to sit on. Once the 3 year warranty is up, you're on your own, according to Terra staff. Jessica Goins, the customer care manager said: "Our furniture manufacturer doesn't have available guidelines or recommendations on how to repair rope. Replacing the chair under warranty would be our resolution if a customer had a rope break. " Note that Jessica does not have a solution if the rope breaks after the end of the 3 year warranty. read more

I decided to bite the bullet and buy all new, high-quality outdoor furniture that would last a very long time. It's really expensive so, I did a lot of homework and decided to check out Terra in Berkeley. The entire staff is excellent, friendly and very efficient. Aubyn helped me and was great from start to finish. We purchased a Merced Teak dining table, six chairs, the Belvedere loveseat, 2 club chairs and a large pouf. When we got it all situated we realized we needed seating for six in all areas and called Aubyn to order another loveseat and coffee table. We love it all! First table top came out of the box cracked. Terra's guys immediately called it in and took table and base away. Thought it would be a couple of weeks for a new one.Lo and behold they found another new one in their warehouse. Got it next day. I want to especially give a shout out to the wonderful delivery guys Javier and Johnny who had to drive their truck to my remote site in Mendocino County, including the last mile on a gravel road. Wow--they are champs. They arrived on time, with smiles, too. They assembled my furniture with ease and I am more than happy with the results. We bought a patio set of sofa and two armchairs from Terra, and although it was a significant investment, thanks to excellent support from David and the other team members we felt confident that we were getting furniture that was high quality, durable, and the right choice for our needs. They were super conscientious in arranging delivery on a tight schedule and kept us in the loop until everything was in place. We ordered a teak table, and then had to exchange it a couple of times. Each table they sent either came with scratches on it or had poor quality teak. We tried to communicate with the store what we were looking for (the higher grade teak without scratches), and we offered to go to the warehouse to save them the time/cost of another delivery. But they ended up telling us they "did not want to keep looking for a good quality table for us". The quality of their teak varies a lot (and perhaps gets damaged easily in shipping given the scratches we saw). So no matter what you see in the showroom, that does not mean the same level of quality will be delivered to your door. I would have given more stars, but in addition to the above, we had very poor interactions with the manager at the Berkeley store, Paul. 1. He was not responsive (it took him several days to return calls and he would not follow up with emails as promised). 2. He would say whatever was convenient in the moment - one minute he said they sold so many of these tables that they couldn't keep track of them, and the next minute he said they rarely sell these tables so they're not opening boxes all the time. We couldn't trust what he said after catching him doing this. 3. He tried to sell us a used table at full price. 4. He blamed an "executive committee" for his decisions. 5. He was patronizing...making decisions for us and claiming he was doing that to help us, even though we specifically asked for the opposite. I had to remind him that we were capable of making our own decisions. The company puts on the pretense of having great customer service and great products, but I can't recommend them after this experience. read more

I had an amazing experience with this establishment. Great customer service--where the sales person showed me an array of options, had to go back with my partner to finalize decision and we left with a patio dining set. The warehouse for pickup is a little tricky to find--it's next to Annie's nursery in Richmond but the Terra sign is a bit obscured by vegetation. Really bad customer service. We've been waiting for chairs for over two months now and have called them 3 times about it. Two times - no response. Even when we get a response we get no follow up call. And the delays in products are unbelievable. They have nice furniture, but zero commitment to getting it to you once you buy. I had to move my scheduled delivery at the last minute, and it was so easy to call and reschedule. I've been really happy with everyone I've spoken with.
