I absolutely love Paraiso Plant Studio! They are located in the cute part of Berkeley, where there are tons of shops and restaurants. I wandered into the store, mostly on a whim, and I'm so thrilled that I did! The staff is absolutely sweet, helpful, and makes shopping so easy. Did I plan on buying a plant? Not at all. Did I? Absolutely! All of their plants are indoor specific, and they will help you find the perfect plant. Do you need a plant that goes in that spot in your Home or Office? That's full Senh? They've got you covered. Do you need a plant that prefers subtle or little to no lighting in your home or office? They've got you covered. Their plants are beautiful, healthy, and they range in different sizes from the most petite, too much larger sizes. The plant I picked out with help from one of the staff, not only is perfect for the space that I want it for, but because I also purchased a lovely ceramic pot, as a complementary service, they repotted my plant in its new ceramic pot. They do offer repotting for your plants, and it's obvious that they have a ton of repeat customers. The store was becoming busy as I was looking at all the different plants, gifts, etc., and if people weren't purchasing arrangements, or having repotting done, they were purchasing new plants like I was. I've been here twice (before and after the new location) and love it here! This plant shop is such a vibe from the decor to the amazing staff. Every person I've encountered has been such a gem; they're kind and down to earth. Some of the plants are a bit on the pricey side, but they are all beautiful and well cared for, and you're supporting a small business, so it's worth it. On my last trip, I scored a beautiful Hoya Kerrii for $13.50. It was such a fantastic deal considering how many leaves it has! I also love that they have tiny plants in tiny pots, which makes you feel like you're growing something from scratch, plus they're super cute! So far, this is my favorite plant shop! I love walking around aimlessly, allowing my eyes to wander wherever and whatever catches my eye. The colors alone get me excited, a tingle inside my body, that feeds my creative soul. When I see the different pots and displays, the plants, the terrariums, I'm in my own world and I am in love with it. I can't help but purchase a plant or two or three. The people there are so friendly and helpful, it's just good vibes each time I go there. My most recent visit, I was well intentioned to walk away with a maidenhair fern. I've always admired it at my acupuncturist's place, but never been a fern gal. I found this amazing plant store while exploring downtown Berkeley and it was a true find. The studio drew me in from the sidewalk with all of the lush foliage framing the entrance. The whole store is an amazing organized jungle and I loved that the sections with varying light also labeled which plants strive in these light zones. Upstairs, they have a collection of pet sage plants! As a cat owner I really appreciated this. In addition to plants, they have other fun items like claw clips. Had to, had to, HAD to update my review because - WOW! Paraíso has expanded to an even bigger location. So happy that they took over the palatial Markethall Foods on 4th street location, not far from their secondary location on 4th. This new location gives the plants (and customers) more room to breathe and, yes, grow. The locations usual selections of pottery and vessels is more comfortably housed even though they no longer have an upstairs space. Paraíso is one of the most beautifully merchandised plant shops in The Bay, makes you wanna just go in and bask in the lush tropical feel. Maria and her team are so informative, helpful and have literally and truly become a cornerstone of 4th street. If you're looking to repot, they got you. Looking to find a new vessel, they got you. Veteran plant parents or newbies- come thru. It's one of the best plant lover spots to go. Prices are great for the selection, and range of options. I was on the hunt for small plants that fit perfectly for my terrarium and after a few stops at various plant locations, Paraíso Plant Studio came in clutch! They had a great selection of miniature plants that were also very suitable for terrariums. It was my first time making a terrarium and the workers didn't just simply point out the plants for me to choose from, they also explained, in detail, what plants would be okay, good, or perfect! I will always recommend this plant studio to everyone and anyone I know! Not only do they have beautiful houseplants, they also offer the best hospitality and provide their guests with a cozy and welcoming environment. We were informed about the suggested pot size we should get based on our plant's anatomy and its roots.. we settled on beautiful 6" and 8" porcelain pots! It may be a little pricey to shop here, but I promise you will not be disappointed with the quality of their items.. paying the price will result in great health and longevity of your houseplants. I have over 10 houseplants, and more than half of them were purchased here and/or repotted with their soil and ALL of them are thriving. My girlfriend and I stumbled across this place and we love it. I'm already planning another visit after payday. We got about five plants and three pots. One was a beautiful blue hanging pot. Another was a cream colored self watering pot that truly looks like a piece of art. The workers there were super friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. I completely enjoyed the experience. LOVE Paraíso! I've been coming here for a couple of years, and the atmosphere is always amazing. The staff is so fun and easy to converse with, and the stickers are super cute. I really love that it's POC/queer-owned and an LGBTQ+ welcoming space. The plants are on the pricier side, but it's absolutely worth it--everything is pest-free, handled with proper care, and their soil mix is great. This is the most beautiful, welcoming, attractive plant shop I've ever been in, and I've been in plenty. I walked past its former location many times, looking at the lovely plants in front, but I wasn't drawn in as I was with this new location. It's open and spacious! Paraiso has beautiful plants and some exquisite fresh cut flowers. (Several stems would make a beautiful and simple bouquet.) Gift items were unique and affordable. But the dozens and dozens of ceramic pots in the most wondrous array of colors was a show-stopper for me. So many choices and it makes this one-stop shopping. And they offer classes! I think it takes a lot of guts and confidence to open a small business like this, and it definitely adds to the charm of Fourth Street. read more

I came in here looking for advice and suggestions and to my surprise, they had a whole upstairs area based on pet friendly plants. I LOVED THIS SO MUCH. I had no idea what my plant was called so I showed them a picture and they were able to help me identify that not only was the plant ok to have around cats, they gave me advice on how to keep it looking better without the overselling of products like most stores would. (The picture I showed them was looking a little dry, I'm not gunna lie, BUT we're working on it!) They have all these cute pots that caught my attention the moment I walked in with different animals and even monsters, just in time for Halloween decorations. I'm coming back to get me a new pot for my plants once it's ready. I highly recommend coming here and checking things out whether you're a plant enthusiast, plant expert, or plant beginner. Throughout the years that I have been patron at Paraiso Plant Studio and I want to talk about their astronomical customer service. The team at Paraiso Plant Studio is extremely informed in all of their products that they sell, down to each plant, pottery, and gardening amendments but what I absolutely appreciate is their support, encouragement, and eagerness to help. From my personal view, I walk in knowing that each plant is in good faith cared for before purchasing. They spray down their plants with fungicide to make sure there aren't any additional pests that may infect your new friend and are willing to share their knowledge of plant care. And although each plant has a QR code on the planter with care details, I've appreciated the interaction that I have with each individual. The majority of my plants are from Paraiso and they are all thriving with all the knowledge and encouragement that I've received from this studio. Their pottery selection is gorgeous and their bouquets that are hand made are stunning. I want to add a personal experience and if any of the employees or the owners read this, I want to express my gratitude to you all. I was involved in an incident in the parking lot. It took me a minute to regain my composure but after a few seconds I was able to focus on the plan of action, plants. Paraiso is definitely top 3 favorite plant shops in the East Bay. Everyone that works here has always been extremely knowledgeable about the plants and are genuinely friendly. They are definitely bringing a sense of community and comfort to the shop. They've got two stories of plants categorized by lighting needs. Also sold are LGBTQIA+ stickers and greeting cards, pottery, plant care necessities and other knickknacks. I appreciate their hours of operation which helps with folks who might work a 9-5 get a chance to still have time to do some shopping. I love this little jungle! I've visited this place three times and every time has been a treasure finding experience. They have a wide selection of plants and you can't help wanting them all. Prices can be as extravagant as the plants, but bring your best plant partner and you can buy two and split them! (That's what I do!) That way we both spend on one plant, but end up with two each! They have all sizes and prices too, and it is the perfect gift shop for a plant friend (freak), crazy plant person, or the likes. Every time I step into this place I feel welcome, served and important. I have met 2 of the managers and shout of to them both. Raymond helped me the day I actually brought in my plant and the other gave me all the info I need to keep that sucker alive until I had a chance to get it to them. Rainy day in the bay! What to do? Well how's about rearranging the living room furniture? Ok that's done now what? Oh snap there's a spot where I've always envisioned a big bushy, leafy vibrant plant! Yelp took me straight away to this spot when searched indoor plants. And showed off tons of amazing plants n pots. I've been looking for about a year, nothing struck my fancy for the price. Been all over the east bay. Ok I know six foot plants can be intimidating and expensive. So I took a before picture to show them where the light would be coming in and where I envisioned placing it. Plenty of very helpful staff. Wound up taking this dracaena Lisa home. They gave us watering directions, care and obviously recommended certain types based on my before picture. They even wrapped it up so the dirt wouldn't spill and protected the leaves with a giant paper sleeve so not to bruise the leaves or get them caught in the car door. A Huge difference in the room. Like a big green Shaq is in the house. But because We have 10 ft. ceilings, I wanted it to look like it had been there for a long time thriving and oxygenating the space. I don't think it was expensive considering. The store is so chocked full of familiar and not so familiar plants of all sorts, the energy, light is inviting and intoxicating. I did appreciate they offered same day delivery via Door Dash which was $10. That seemed to go fine but I wish the plant studio would have sent me a photo of what the plants looked like. I ended up paying $100 for two plants with pots and delivery. I have no idea what they ended up looking like. read more

I came here with no intentions of purchasing any plants but stumbled across SO many gorgeous plants in the store. I knew damage was about to be done (today and in the future because I WANT more plants from here!) The store is filled with so many varieties of plants and pots. I've visited this nursery a total of 4 times. Every time has been a lovely experience, I've purchased 5 beautiful healthy plants so far. All the staff are super friendly and welcoming! The store set up is beautiful. You can tell they ACTUALLY care for their plants! I was on a hunt for a rare plant. I called about 10 nurseries around the area and no one had it. When I called Paraíso, they told me I could request plants if they are no longer in stock and they would reach out to me when they came across it. It seemed like a long shot but I really wanted this plant so I agreed! Fast forward a couple of weeks later, I receive a text they have my rare plant available & it is ready for pick up!
