Plant thriving!!
Ilana P.

This shop brings so much vibrancy to our neighborhood! There are many gorgeous plants all in excellent condition and the owners are super knowledgeable about plant care and plant health even for someone without a green thumb. The store itself is stylish and also has other products like candles, pots, skincare and jewelry so it's a great place to pickup gifts. Since they always do occasional floral arrangements, I asked the owner if she could put together some arrangements for my mother's 60th birthday and they were stunning!!! Also be on the lookout for different events they host have started hosting!

My favorite place! The owners and staff are so knowledgeable and friendly. Nichelle has turned me into a plant mom and it's become an obsession. The vibe is so inviting and lush. They also showcase amazing local brands. A must stop shop!!!!

Just one of my favorite nurseries!! So much to look at, adore and take home!…read more I've been on the hunt for a money tree and East Bay Nursery had the perfect one for me. And my bestie was looking for a bonsai tree and what do you know?!! So many to choose from. We also picked up some of their gorgeous air plants!! If you're looking for something specific, I bet they have them here. Service is excellent. There's a small parking lot attached. I cannot wait to come back. I had my eye on a few succulents and more air plants! Hope to come back soon!

They also went out into the garden to doublecheck that they had one in stock and they did and they held it for me at the front desk. While I was there, I was admiring all of the exotic plants, flowers, herbs, and trees and all the gardening accessories you may ever need. I loved seeing all their seasonal Halloween theme planters and little decorations that you can put throughout your garden to make your garden festive for Halloween. They even had small Christmas trees in stock. This is a lovely nursery with lots of beautiful plants and accessories and great employees that are roaming around ready to help you at any time. They also have their own dedicated parking lot and lots of street parking. Next time you're in Berkeley or if you need to get an exotic plant, I highly recommend visiting East Bay Nursery.

It's a great spot if you're looking to grow your own food or just enjoy a calm walk through nature. There's a section for indoor houseplants, but it's a bit limited. Most of the options are Succulent plants and hardier varieties, so if you're looking for a large variety of tropicals or more delicate indoor plants, you might not find much--though there is a separate indoor plant area that was closed off during our visit. You'll definitely notice the fertilizer smell when you walk in--not overwhelming, but something to be aware of if you're sensitive. Still, the overall atmosphere is relaxing and grounding. It's a really lovely spot to explore, especially if you enjoy gardening or just want a nature-filled reset. Heads-up for allergy sufferers: with all the plants, pollen, and earthy air, you may want to plan accordingly. We didn't directly interact with the staff, but they seemed friendly and helpful, assisting other guests as I walked by. Parking: There's plenty of side street parking available in the surrounding neighborhood, and a few spots right in front of the entrance. The diverse offerings include bicycles and bike parts, furniture (sofas, tables, and more), lots of chairs, rugs, luggage, tools, electronics, speakers, musical instruments, CD's and records, remote controls, items that make you feel like you've gone back in time (like cassette tapes, vhs tapes, and floppy disks), books, toys, model trains, light fixtures, baskets, kitchenware/appliances, board games, crutches, building materials, doors, windows, bathtubs, toilets, garden sculptures, mirrors, cabinets and shelves, decorative items, artworks, plumbing hardware, door knobs, plastic cups and bottles, hats, shoes, and clothing. They even have scrap glass for mosaic or stained glass projects. We ended up purchasing some drum rings, as well as an awesome tote bag for just five bucks. The line at the front counter gets long at times, but it moves quickly with helpful workers making sure everything goes smoothly. You can even cut the line if you're paying with cash. No returns are allowed on items such as electronics and clothing. Dogs are welcome inside, with countless signs posted noting that it's not a poop and pee zone. There's also a sign near the toy section stating "unattended children will be given candy and a free puppy."

I went to the front and offered to take the CDs they were sending to the landfill. I stated I had boxes with me - the staff seemed amenable however when the manage Claudio was asked he overruled them and stated "no" - the CDs are now on the landfill - I have a machine to resurface discs, a press to flatten creased artwork and thousands of cases - however a company who's catch phrase is "zero waste" dumped" thousands of perfectly salvageable items. I contacted Urban Ore via email, via messaging and tagged them in social media as well as posting on their own FB page - no response. People donate items to Urban Ore thinking they think they are keeping them out of the landfill - the behavior of Claudio shows that this is a lie and Urban Ore appears to be a scam.
