I did not care for this place. It was my first visit, and it will likely be my last. I was never told what type of restaurant it was, and after looking at the menu, I was even more confused. They offered sushi, pasta, sandwiches, flatbreads, seafood dishes, and more. I wasn't sure what kind of fusion concept they were going for. I usually like to order what a restaurant is known for or specializes in, but since that wasn't clear, I decided to go with a burger since that's usually hard to mess up. Unfortunately, my burger arrived cold, dry, and bland. It tasted like it had been sitting for quite a while before being served. The fries were hot and fresh, so I ate those and took the burger home to see if I could salvage it. On a positive note, the restaurant was clean, and it wasn't very crowded when we visited. I stopped in for a cocktails and dinner. I sat at the bar and ordered dinner and a cocktail. My Lobster Bisque came out. It was tasty, but not hot enough. while enjoying my soup I spooned a mussel shell out of my soup. I got the Bartenders attention and she was very apologetic. She insisted she wanted me to bring another soup out. Then my pasta came with Cannolini Beans, garlic, parley which still had the long stems attached, and roasted grape tomatoes. I went home a was disappointed. I was up half the night in the bathroom. I called the next day and asked to speak to the manager, who was not customer friendly. I told him of my issue and he proceeded to give excuses about what I experienced. He was very rude, no apology and no offer to make a customer to want to go back. Came here for a graduation dinner and overall, it was a good time. The vibe of the place is super cute, and it's definitely a great spot for bigger groups. The staff was honestly amazing--really friendly and made sure we were comfortable the whole time. Drinks were well-priced and pretty solid. Nothing wild, but they tasted good and didn't break the bank. As for the food... I'm a little torn. The rest of my party liked it more than I did. The Brussels sprouts were good--crispy with this tasty sauce. But then that same sauce showed up on the skewers, and it just didn't hit the same way. I stuck with a draft beer for appetiser we had shrimp tempura was delicious them or Andres come with a salad we got the house salad but there was no goat cheese the server explained it only comes if you order the large salad not as the salad with the entree but she got a side of goat cheese anyway which was nice for dinner she got the seafood Faletti a handkerchief pasta with a blush sauce It was delicious. I got the chicken and shrimp pasta. Diablo I love hot food. I love spicy. That's one was a level up. I ended up pulling five peppers out of it. We made a reservation for 7 for a birthday dinner around the holidays. Our waitress was great, and I liked the cozy atmosphere in the corner we were seated in. We all really liked the butter and pesto that came with the fresh bread. All of our entrees came with a house salad that was different but tasty - it had some grapes in it. I had the chicken Terra nova - it was good - and I'd say it was very similar to a chicken parm dish. I also had a glass of Prosecco. Where to begin... We had a family birthday dinner and even brought our own cake. Our reservation was for 4:45pm because we had a hard stop at 7:00pm. Unfortunately, the entire experience dragged on for nearly two hours due to extremely poor service, and we never even got to enjoy the birthday cake. Our server never introduced herself. She took our drink order but didn't provide a cocktail menu. After a long wait, she came back for our appetizer order--then returned 15 minutes later just to confirm what we had already told her. Things only went downhill from there. About 45 minutes before we needed to leave, a mariachi band started playing in a separate room across from us. I usually enjoy mariachi music, but this was unbelievably loud. We couldn't hear each other at all, and it completely ruined the last part of our dinner. The cake never appeared. I eventually had to track someone down, and when it finally came out, there were no plates, no knife, no silverware, no offer of coffee--nothing. By then it was so late that we tried to sing happy birthday, but we were drowned out by the band. We ended up packing everything up and leaving. read more

As soon as we walked in, we were warmly greeted. I had a reservation for 3:30 but arrived early to see if they could seat us sooner--and they graciously accommodated us. That was very thoughtful and much appreciated. The service throughout our visit was amazing. Tom, our server, was phenomenal--attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. It was a cold February Saturday night so reservations were required. The parking lot was packed so business is good here. I had reservations somewhere else but changed on the fly due to the sub par reviews at the other place. It was a great decision, since our meal here was fabulous. We started with a few drinks. I had the spiced bourbon and she had the espresso Martini. My bourbon was mellowed by the cider and the cinnamon syrup, and it was really good. We shared the meatball appetizer and it didn't disappoint. I don't usually order meatballs out since I make them often myself, but they were really moist and the sauce was slightly sweet , the bread was really toasty and delish. The house salads are just okay. I don't like the house dressing . For an entree she ordered the pasta Fazzaletti and I wanted the short ribs but I'm not a fan of mushrooms so I asked the waitress to switch up the risotto to tomato. I always heard the short rib was good, but it was better than I expected, it was perfect. The meat was tender and tasty and the risotto was wonderful. Her entree was good as well but she loaded up on double bread so she took most of it home. I had the rest of my entree for lunch today and it was just as good. I'm so torn writing this review as we frequented TN many a times. I love their sushi and have even said it could be the best I've ever had, though incredibly skimpy, the quality is always great. Here's the issue, our last visit we sat at the bar which was nearly empty, being served by the humorous British bloke. As we were eating, my fiancé says, "what's that?". I turned around looking at the corner of the bar towards the bathrooms, there was a quarter sized cockroach traversing the bar and eyeing up the scraps on my plate. This was such a turnoff that we have not returned since. It's probably been about 6 months. If you can see a cockroach on a bar in front of people, imagine how many you can't see. I want their sushi so bad but I fear the overall cleanliness of this place. Not trying to get sick or dine with creepy crawlers. Sorry, but also not really my fault. Recently had dinner at this place on a Sunday evening. Was very friendly greeted by our waitress and ordered drinks from the bar from her. Upon delivering of the drinks she had informed us that she would not be our waitress (restaurant just made a mistake)? They replaced our server or waitress with someone else before we ordered. Places our orders and one meal came with a salad, surprisingly it did not have any dressing? Two others orders filet tips salads with the filets tips medium rare. Salads come out with filet very rare or raw, not cooked to chewy? Third meal was the Cajun Jambalaya? There was nothing Cajun about the Jambalaya and besides having a few good size shrimps in it there was nothing Cajun taste to this meal. Paid the bill but was not sure where or who my gratuity or tip should go too. Place looks nice and we were pretty excited to eat here, but mostly a major disappointment. read more

I've been to Terra Nova a number of times. I find the food and service are generally both good and this visit was no exception. It was a fairly busy Friday evening, but we only had to wait 10-15 minutes for a table as walk-in customers. The service was descent, not stellar, but about as good as I would expect at this level of restaurant on a busy night. I took a while to get a second glass of wine during dinner - I was beginning to fear I would be done with my food before it came - but that was the only hiccup of note. I had a fillet-tips salad. It was smaller than I expected, but as big as it really should be. I really didn't need more food than that. The meat was advertised as medium rare and came out exactly that. The dinning room is a little louder than I would prefer, but not too bad. Overall, another satisfying visit to Terra Nova. read more

this was the the laziest restaurant I've ever seen. the manager sat there on his cellphone before acknowledging my party of 3. Very Mediterranean themed with country music playing and a sushi bar. They are very confused as to what they wanna do to mostly chasing trends that are we're out of date years ago. Braised shortrib on a summer menu? lobster bisque= Minnors lobster base with half assed minced celery? complete trash Blister Shishito peppers or fried to a crisp way past blistering past any flavor. Tuna tartar was the tailpiece of a tuna thrown blender. The chips were obviously made on Thursday and served on Sunday There was literally 1 full inch of cocoa powder with a touch of cinnamon tossed in on top of a tiramisu that was dry. THOROUGHLY unimpressed. This place came highly recommended not just by word of mouth, but by various "top restaurants in the area" type lists. So, we actually went out of our way to eat here today, and I wish we hadn't. Casey N has this place pegged: "the menu ranged from Italian dishes, to American to Asian, which to me is a red flag." It IS a red flag, and something I pointed out to the Misses. She even said, "whys that a bad thing?," to which I replied, "it means they don't do ANY of it well." Yes, it's very sus that this place ranges from sushi, to Mediterranean, to Italian, to American cuisine. And just as expected, nothing we had was particularly good, which is made more annoying by the fact that this place is expensive AF. We walk in to an, admittedly, nice building. The place was clean, with a slightly upscale vibe to it. But, that's pretty much the end of the accolades for Terra Nova. We were curtly "welcomed," and the service was very minimal, and astonishingly slow. I heard another table getting the night's specials, but our waitress couldn't be bothered with that noise. We went with the filet steak salad for me, and the lemoncello lobster ravioli for the Misses. "French fries" for the little one, as their KIDS menu offerings were like $10-11, and we didn't want to spend that much on a kids serving of mac and cheese that wouldn't be eaten. I wasn't asked how I wanted my steak (they cooked it to a very nice medium-rare/medium anyway, so it turned out to be fine, but still.) The food took FOREVER to come out. It was a SALAD, and some reheated ravioli, but it took literally 30-ish minutes. And when our entrees finally did come out, the babies "french fries," which are not fries, but fried potato CHUNKS, still weren't ready. If you have kids, you know that a 4 year old isn't very receptive to, "just a few more minutes for your fries baby." When the food hit the table, you could tell that the Misses's ravioli had been sitting a while, as it had formed a bit of a "skin" on top. Taste wise; OH MY GOD....do they even HAVE salt in the back?! I had to salt my salad, and the Misses had to double salt her ravioli. Bland, bland, bland. Also, the lettuce in my salad was chopped so small that I had to use two forks like shovels to actually get food into my mouth. I was THIS close to asking for a spoon to eat my salad. That's not an exaggeration. Salad, ravioli, "fries," an iced tea, an apple juice and a glass of Malbec came out to NINETY FIVE DOLLARS after tip. People said that this was more of a "date night" restaurant, but unless that date is a first date where you are trying to "impress" someone with how much you can spend on mediocre food, they can have it. We won't be back for the prices alone, but nothing else there, besides the ambiance, really moved the needle for me anyway. Also, not that it matters, but I just found it weird that we were the youngest people here by at least 20 years. Every table was occupied by senior citizens. We even thought that maybe it was some kind of senior citizens discount day or something. Oh, last thing: they "don't do happy hour," how dare you ask...but they DO have a prix-fixe dinner menu, from 4-6, Monday-Friday.....aka A HAPPY HOUR. *eye roll emoji* Nothing on it was that great though. read more

Went to TN on mother's day. We were a party of 5 with a reservation. No where on the menu or specials that there were no substitutions. My husband order short ribs and asked that the mushroom risotto (he is alleric to fungus/mushrooms) be switched out for mash potatoes, which you know were pretty made anyway. The waitress was good, but the problem with not posting the "rules" or allowing them without a posted memo is unacceptable. We patron TN at least once a month, but we will never return. We have been coming to Terra Nova for a decade. We had our rehearsal dinner here, my mother in law's 70th birthday celebration, and many lunches and dinners through the years. Why not 5 stars? Read on... First of all, I HIGHLY recommend Terra Nova for hosting a small event. The ambience is great, service is always wonderful, and guests have always been happy with their food. As for dining out, if you are looking for a spot for a first date or lunch with the girls, it's a safe bet. However, if you want a really fantastic dinner, and you're a foodie, this is where things get a little fuzzy. They have a full sushi/sashimi menu, Italian dishes, a few Asian fusion entrees, a lot of Californian inspired dishes, and things like short rib cheese fries and Mac and cheese . There is a lot going on and I feel like that keeps everything from being amazing. Ten years ago the menu was different and it has evolved over the years to include much more seafood. I used to love a unique ravioli dish that had pulled pork in a sweet rum like sauce. I know it sounds strange, but the flavors worked so well and I haven't found a single thing I have loved just as much since. Their crab cakes are good, short ribs and risotto is good, everything is fine, just not incredible like I feel it could be. At our most recent visit, we brought along a first time Terra Nova diner. The restaurant was packed but we made a reservation. We started with the short rib cheese fries, which I do enjoy because the fries are a unique shape. Our guest was unimpressed, but I did enjoy them. The house salad has a sweet dressing with red grapes throughout. It's simple but I do enjoy the flavor. The bread comes with a compound butter and pesto olive oil. Both are great additions to the typical bread presentation. As an entree I chose the crab stuffed tilapia. The seafood seems pretty fresh, as it is never fishy. The mashed potatoes are a little over salted, and the broccolini is fine. Our Terra Nova novice opted for the same thing, just the salmon version and my mom got the short ribs with risotto. She loved hers, but our novice again was not impresssd and had a hard time with the salt content. I personally thought things were just fine, as usual. There's nothing BAD about Terra Nova, I just would love to see the menu pick a focus and then build amazing entrees centered around whichever angle they choose read more

This is not the first time we have been here, but it's the first time the only good thing was one appetizer- the brussel sprouts. Everything else was subpar quality and small portioned. Our server was dismissive and not at all accommodating. She was chewing gum, but a couple other waitresses seemed to be as well, which is really gross. She would walk away from us empty handed frequently when we had plates to clear, and she just generally was rude, giving us deadpanned, angry stares, hardly saying anything to us and slamming plates down on the table. We did our best to be patient and cheerful, especially since it was a party member's 21st birthday dinner. Our dinners were not great either, especially for the price we paid per person. The pasta specials were under seasoned and some reported the seafood was less than fresh. The restaurant itself wasn't very busy. Ultimately, the service was the least impressive. Only one person was actively helping in the restaurant and it was the poor buslady, while all the waitresses and what appeared to be the manager were crowded around someone's phone in the corner. At the end of the day, we always hope to be proven wrong; unfortunately this wasn't the case at Terra Nova. What a lovely exterior the restaurant has, and then quickly fades away the second you walk in. For such a pricy restaurant, I expected a little more than what the drab interior had to offer. We started off with some signature drinks: the spicy pineapple margarita for me and the mule for my other half. The drinks were delicious, and, sadly, one of the few highlights of the night. Our server was nice but she forgot to read off the specials to us. No points deducted, but usually it's just expected as a diner. Our eyes (and stomach) were set on some Sushi to start. Specifically the Olive Tree roll and The Godfather roll. For specialty rolls the prices seemed comparable, but when the rolls arrived we were a little disappointed as to how small they were. The olive tree was definitely our favorite of the two. All the flavors were there and the wrapped cucumber was refreshing. The Godfather, on the other hand, surprisingly lacked the spark I was excited to try. You'd think a prosciutto wrapped roll would be something to rave home about. For our entrees, I chose the grilled salmon with wasabi aioli...it came with a house salad, basmati rice (i got mashed potatoes instead), and broccolini. The salmon was a bit overcooked but edible. The aioli gave the salmon a nice kick and mashed was one of the best things we ate. The salad was sad- literally lettuce and a few grapes with a lemon vinaigrette, which i enjoyed, but it could have used a few more elements to consider it a "salad." My boyfriend decided to get the wasabi filet mignon which was considered a starter. For $21 it seemed way more worth it than the overpriced entree filet. He was not impressed. On the side he got some roasted potatoes which he enjoyed. Is this place best known for their potatoes?! I've always really enjoyed my time at Terra Nova! I come with a girlfriend about once a quarter for a girls night out. We get dirty martinis and I swear, they are the best ones in the area. Blue cheese olives and just the perfect ratio. The bartender is great; I've gotten other drinks here on special that are truly spectacular. We typically split the mussels (bacon, cream sauce, spicy peppers: YUM) and I get two sushi rolls: the godfather (wrapped in prosciutto) and spicy tuna. The sushi is very good and very unique. It is the strangest menu, no problem admitting that, but I've always enjoyed my choices. My only critique: it is EXPENSIVE. We always just split our bill and I don't think I've ever left here under $100 pp. But I have always enjoyed it, so its worth the splurge every once in awhile. read more
