Riverwinds Restaurant has been on our radar for quite some time, so I decided to bring my girlfriend, Cindy, there for her birthday. When I made our reservation online, I included a special request asking if we could be seated by a window to enjoy the river and, hopefully, the sunset. They were able to accommodate our request, and we had a beautiful view of the river. It was a little cloudy, so the sunset wasn't spectacular, but the scenery still made for a wonderful evening. From the moment we arrived, the staff was warm and welcoming. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and very knowledgeable about the menu. We started with the Fried Fresh Mozzarella Bruschetta, and it was outstanding. The fresh tomatoes, perfectly fried mozzarella, and balsamic reduction came together beautifully. The mozzarella was cooked just right--not overdone to the point where all the cheese oozes out--which made for a great bite every time. Cindy ordered the Scallop Risotto, served in a lemon butter wine sauce. The risotto had a great consistency--not watery at all--and the scallops were perfectly tender. The flavors were fresh, rich, and well-balanced. I chose the Frutti di Mare Risotto, featuring sautéed mussels, clams, jumbo shrimp, crab meat, broccoli rabe, and cherry tomatoes. This dish exceeded my expectations. Every piece of seafood was tender and flavorful. I did encounter a little sand in a couple of the mussels, which can occasionally happen with shellfish, but it certainly wasn't enough to take away from an otherwise fantastic meal. To finish the evening, the staff brought out a celebratory chocolate birthday cake for Cindy. It was incredibly moist with a delicious cream cheese filling--the perfect ending to a memorable birthday dinner. One final tip: if you decide to take a walk around the grounds after dinner, keep an eye out... you might find someone taking a nap outside. Overall, Riverwinds delivered excellent food, outstanding service, and a beautiful atmosphere. Way too expensive for the food and experience. Yes I went there for Easter. Yes it was a holiday menu. Are you serious that chicken fingers and fries were $20.99? On the kids menu? This place does not serve exceptional food. It's not a Michelin star stop. It's a typical Italian style place with a good view who apparently hates beer and thinks their food is far better than it actually is. The pricing is insane. Actually, worse than that, screw these people. That's how pissed they made me. My rib eye wasn't even rendered properly with lots of connective tissue and thick hard fat. My kid's salad was drenched in dressing he didn't like despite us ordering it on the side. The $25 shrimp cocktail was literally 4 unseasoned shrimp. The $20 calamari app was half fried pepper rings. Everything was double what it should have cost. Are these morons serious with their prices? I can't believe this horrible place is still in business. It's insulting. Almost like they are trying to keep out the riff raff. I hate them for that. If you are going to have prices like this, you better serve perfect food. I seriously will never give them another chance. I'm honestly not sure what was worse -- the subpar food, the warm cocktails, or the attitude from our waitress. I drove over an hour to celebrate my mom's birthday here, expecting a memorable experience. Instead, it was completely underwhelming from start to finish. The food was mediocre at best -- nothing worth the drive or the price point. Crab cake had a weird gravy drenched all over it. My fish was nothing memorable, I could have made it at home. My cocktail was served warm and barely tasted like it contained any alcohol. I had to send them back. When you're charging restaurant prices, at the very least the drinks should be properly made and properly chilled. The service was just as disappointing. Our waitress was short, uninterested, and gave the impression that we were inconveniencing her simply by being there. When she brought the cake for my mom she just dropped it on the table like she was a dog. For a place that markets itself as a nice dining experience, this fell far below expectations. I won't be returning -- and I truly regret choosing this restaurant for such a special occasion to celebrate my mom who means the world to me. She deserves better. read more

I came here with my family for a special occasion and we ordered drinks and some appetizers. We got the calamari and the charcuterie plate. The charcuterie plate was really good- the cheeses were especially good. Honestly, the crackers were just okay but everything else on the board was great. I got the Parmesan Crusted Chicken as my entree and that was cooked very well. It wasn't dry and the sauce was great. My drink was just okay- it was the peppermint martini. First time visiting and the restaurant has beautiful landscaping, plenty of parking. Upon entering the establishment is very clean and we were greeted by the hostess. Spacious dining area. Amber was our waitress and she was friendly, courteous and professional. I ordered colossal buffalo shrimp as an appetizer, shrimp scampi as an entree that came with a salad and ice cream. My daughter ordered calamari as an appetizer, crab cake as an entree and it came with lobster cream sauce, mashed potatoes, asparagus and salad. Had my daughter's bridal shower at Riverwinds yesterday. Everything was perfection. The banquet manager Edith and the staff of servers were incredible! So attentive, so pleasant and so helpful. In addition, the food was delicious! All of our lunch choices (crab cakes, chicken piccata and ziti with blush sauce) were presented beautifully and hot! Great views from the high-tops by the windows and a full wraparound bar with a solid cocktail menu. Drinks were great, but the beer list is limited to about five options. There is a dress code, so keep that in mind. The menu is seafood-heavy with a lot of tempting appetizers. I was along and the other servers wouldn't check on me, or even share a greeting, to see if I was doing ok. If there was anything else I need. I expect this sometime when all of the servers are women. I am very looking Man Wink wink, when you have a group of servers that are women... they tend to be very chatty with regular customers and among themselves, ignore a new face that they're not familiar with. My step father in law, asked me to book a reservation here so he can ask my mother in law to marry him. I did not see River Winds (RW) on Open Table or Resy. However, I went on their website and they had an online form you can fill out to book a reservation. Then you wait for someone to confirm it. I just want to make a suggestion that, I think RW should look into these electronic services. It will make things easier for their patrons. I sat at the bar while waiting for my in laws and wow the view. This place is wonderfully designed with large windows. We ordered our non-alcoholic beverages, and waited for our parents. When our parents arrived, the hostess sat them in a dinning room with beautiful windows. The place decor is very nice. Definitely a place to go for special occasions. We sat down and I ordered a house special $35.00 which included a Pork chop drenched in Jack Daniel's sauce and soft mash with the skin still in it. It came with a Caesar Salad and I got a vanilla ice cream. RW offers great value. Service was great, shout out to Ni! She came at the perfect time and did phenomenal. Another great outing at RiverWinds on the return! The crab cake is still immaculate and as delicious as the first time I tried it. Our server was so fun and down to earth, very knowledgeable of the menu, had great food recommendations for my friend who hadn't eaten there before, and recommended a great dessert (I didn't need it but why not?). Love the spot right by the window being able to look out at the water and enjoy the sunset. Again, if you haven't been, please get there! We sat at the bar and watched, but would definitely like to come back during the day. We surprised a dear friend for her retirement! It was 14 guests in total. The place has nice atmosphere. Nice bar area and happy hour. We sat at the bar till all guest arrived. We were escorted to a dinning area I assume is for larger guest parties. We didn't wait long before someone came over to offer us drinks...Our waitress Jasmine was EXCELLENT! What a joy it was to have her as our waitress! Very attentive, patient, sweet and knew the menu well! Everyone enjoyed their drinks, appetizers and meal, nice portions, no complaints. Wow, I don't think I have given a single restaurant a one star review until now. So first of all nothing happened we weren't mistreated ejected discriminated against cheated ignored or assaulted. This resto fell short in every single domain I cannot think of one reason to come here again. In fact it is so bad I am pretty sure no server or chef could be responsible, this has to be mismanagement from top. Don't worry I left the obligatory 20% tip so I am not abusing some underpaid server. The place settings were lousy. The outside patio bug infested. The tables were not adequately sheltered, when I asked to move under a canopy the hostess rudely said those were for "at least parties of five" there was hardly anyone there and she easily could have accommodated us at a shaded table without a canopy. Ok rules are rules. I ordered a cocktail in a highball glass the server brought it in an old fashioned glass and said "we don't have highball glasses". Seriously? The tuna tartare was neither raw nor ground hence, not a tartare. It was epically bad. The salad was atrocious with syrupy too sweet dressing, and poorly chosen greens that are intended as garnishes not food. The bread basket contained stale rolls purchased at a convenience store. I could just cry right now. I would give 0 stars if I could. My father just died. I am out of state. I tried to reserve a funeral luncheon at Riverwinds. Erin, a banquet manager, said they had another booking in the private room at night on the date we want, so we had to be out by a certain time. No problem. I understand. As a result of that information, I had a ton of questions to figure out if we need to move our funeral up, what I need to do to make Riverwinds happen, etc. My dad liked to eat there, so I really wanted to honor him by going there. But Erin became rude to me, getting anxious about all of the questions I was asking (I mean, do people not ask reasonable questions to understand the parameters? That's crazy that you can't answer reasonable questions without getting agitated) I asked if we tell people they need to pack up their food so we can leave the room on time, could we do that? She REALLY didn't like that. She then they became rude to me, talking over me, and said they didn't think my event would be a good one because they don't want people to think THEIR RESTAURANT rushes people. It was such a lack of compassion. I was appalled. She talked over me and said she'd let Edith, the other banquet manager, speak to me. Edith told me that she refused to book our event. I am rushing now to find a place, in tears. No compassion. At all. I don't even know what to say. I mean, there is so much I don't know about their reservation and contract process. Why would I not ask questions? If you are grieving, have a lot of questions, are at all upset or emotional about burying a loved one, and need help, DON'T CALL RIVERWINDS. They do NOT want to deal with you or answer your questions. If they reach out to me and show any type of empathy, I'll revise accordingly. Otherwise, again, DON'T CALL RIVERWINDS. They care more about the perception of their restaurant and cutting me off than answering a grieving daughter's questions. read more

The food is always suburb, flavorful, and consistent. My parents always come here and we usually celebrate family events and milestones at this restaurant. This one was for my father's bday. They booked the private room and it seats about 10 people. My only drawback is that they do not have a kids menu and they made it very clear. It makes it hard to order something for children in your party. I did feel like on a Sunday night we could have had two people but I don't know how their deployment works in this case. The gentleman was attentive, but we usually have multiple servers when we book a private room. I have tried most things on the menu and I'm glad to say that I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

Riverwinds has one of the most gorgeous views out of every restaurant in the area. The ambience is amazing and you feel like you've been transported to a completely different place upon entering. I just really wish the food matched the ambience. Now I'm not saying the food is bad, it's not. It's just not fantastic. It doesn't match the vibe that Riverwinds seems to try to convey. I have been here for dinner for many family celebrations, but never for lunch. My mom and I decided to dine outside on a gorgeous September afternoon. The weather was perfect and we were seated in a shady spot out of the sun. The views were immaculate, but then all of a sudden the spotted lantern flies began landing on the table and on us. I can't blame the restaurant for this, because those things are everywhere and I don't think there has been a proven way to control them yet, but everyone around us was swatting them and stomping on them the entire time. We enjoyed our cocktails and were given warm bread, which consisted of torpedo style rolls and whipped butter. Bread says a lot about an establishment. I feel like even if they change their bread style and give an herbed butter it would take the whole experience up a notch. We went with the cheesesteak spring rolls as an app and I will say they do them well. They pair them with ketchup for dipping and what they describe as a smoked tomato coulis. I would love to see a creamy horseradish crema as a dip option, I think it would pair amazingly well and give the option of a non tomato based dip instead of two tomato based options. We each got salads, I opted for the Cobb, and again, nothing wrong with it, it just could be better. A cob salad is usually served with a creamy dressing, like blue cheese or ranch, but this had an herbed vinaigrette. My mom got the very berry salad with the lemoncello vinaigrette and she raved about her dressing. Overall the experience was relaxing aside from the lantern flies, but I just would love to see more unique food options and a bit of fun added to the menu to make this place truly stand out among the rest. read more

Sandwiches $10...entrees $23 approx. Had splits of prosecco $12. Food was ok. Got the special dry. Sauce... had to ask for more. Chicken in dish over cooked. Rolls omg awful. The hardest rolls ever banged them on table Smh. You had to tear them apart. They tasted like they sat around uncovered since Thanksgiving. No one ate them after I banged mine!!!! I think the exorbitant price of things has been normalized to the point that it reflects more poorly on me for complaining about it, then it does for the business charging these ridiculous prices. I just don't understand why it's standard practice to charge $11 for a GLASS of Mark West Pinot Noir, when a BOTTLE is $12. I can understand SOME of the entrees; I had the ahi tuna noodles at it was like $25. I figure after buying an ahi tuna steak, some soba noodles, sesame seeds, seasoning and sauces, and cook it, I've spent close enough to that cost to justify the extra expense. But how hard is to open a bottle of wine? I say all that to say, Riverwinds is overpriced. It's decent. The outside view was really nice, the wait staff was ok; (our waiter was pleasant, but didn't bring our bread [I had to ask for it, after seeing other tables get it], didn't tell us the specials, and didn't really check on us.) But it just wasn't a $90 lunch, which is what I paid. As mentioned, I got the Ahi Tuna noodles, and the wife got the "crabby delight," which is like a crab meat pasta dish. Those entrees, one glass of wine, and one chocolate martini came out to over $75. After tip, we spent almost $100 for lunch. The food was good, but it just wasn't a $100 lunch day. Parking is free, and there is a little trail and stuff that you can walk, if you're so inclined, but I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again. Maybe when I just come to terms with how much things cost nowadays, or if I decide to come here for dinner and not drink anything. Eh. read more
