It was a sunny Sunday so took a ride with some friends to enjoy the wonderful view and delicious food. I ordered the special which was a fresh flounder over grilled vegetables which was very good. Only downside of the experience and it's not of the restaurants control is the overwhelming amount of spotted lantern flies outdoors which makes it impossible to enjoy dining outdoors near the river. The food: ordered the crab cake sandwich with steak fries and grilled chicken stir fry. (Lunch menu items) Crab patty was meaty and full of crab..little filling. The stir fry over jasmine rice was perfect. Nicely seasoned and not too salty. I found it very tasty and filling. Pricing was decent considering the type of environment. Well worth it imo. Really enjoyed my meal here! We were in a private room overlooking the Delaware River and Philadelphia skyline for my brother's rehearsal dinner. View was spectacular, particular on the attached private balcony. Appetizers consisted of calamari and cheesesteak egg rolls which were self-serve on the back table. Both choices were tasty. My main was filet mignon, which was cooked to a perfect medium rare as requested. My wife had stuffed shrimp, which was also delicious. Table service was a tad slow, but very attentive. Bar service was disappointing, I think the bartender may have been new and was clearly overwhelmed. The Caesar Salad the lettuce. was not crisp but all wilted. Issue was one of the hostesses, who was SO rude, when we asked for a picture she completely ignored us for a few minutes (leaving us standing there super awkwardly) and asked the hostess next to her to do so in the most demeaning voice possible. That hostess who ended up taking a photo was so kind and lovely (a redhead with glasses), but her companion left a bad taste in everyone's mouth. We didn't ask her to perform neurosurgery, and the least she could've done was be polite. Hello Darlings! A get-together with another couple brought us here last weekend. We had a splendid time catching up on life over some pretty good eats at this spot in West Deptford. Hubby and I have been here once or twice before for special occasions and had a marvelous dinner on each of those outings, except I committed a serious transgression by not writing about it/them here in Yelpland. So in an effort to set things right, it's time to share this most recent experience with my dear readers. Let's get into that now, shall we? Riverwinds is part of a golf course / country club and has a fantastic view of South Philly and the Delaware from its wall of windows facing West. The restaurant is on the main floor of the building and they also have banquet facilities for weddings and other gatherings. The building itself and its interior are attractive and as stated, the views are fantastic. However Darlings, the atmosphere is loud; the space on the main floor is very spacious (high ceilings, etc.) and the acoustics don't allow for those quiet intimate dinners for two. For us, we had a challenging time hearing each other. Riverwinds does, however, have an outdoor patio that also overlooks the Delaware and if your party wants a bit more quiet it may be worth your while to seek a table outside when the weather is nice. Service here was outstanding. Our server was a lovely woman who looked after us without being annoying. Fare is pretty much American and while it's good (filet mignon is wonderful...although Your Host didn't have on this go-round), be warned Darlings that it IS a bit on the pricey side. The four of us all ordered from the $35 section of the menu and we were all satisfied with our selections. Bevs are the stand-bys (beers, wines, cocktails, soft drinks, etc.); Your Host and the Hubs had Pina Coladas, which were sublime. Take it from moi that they come HIGHLY recommended. Another fantastic experience at one of my favorite go to spots! First time celebrating Thanksgiving out, and it was awesome to spend it here! We opt as a party of four, for the whole turkey carved at the table experience. The turkey was tender and moist and came with five sides plus desserts. Our sides included, stuffing, mashed potato, mashed turnips, green beans, and cranberry sauce. This is a restaurant that proves advertising is important. There were several times when I had intended to dine at this restaurant however so many other restaurants came to mind before this one. So one day on my way to an Atlantic City casino, I see the big sign as a reminder. This large billboard boasted a beautifully picturesque waterfront. I'm in! When I arrived at the casino I made sure to make a reservation to dine on my way back home the next day. After giving up on my GPS navigation I found the restaurant off the beaten path. The grounds are beautiful the view is spectacular. Everything about this restaurant is large I mean things are really big. The entrance is large the foyer is large, the chandelier is large the piano is large, the host stand is large. You get the picture! LOL but everything is bright. pretty, extremely clean and open. And that picturesque waterfront scene? It can be viewed from almost each angle or room. NICE! I started with the mussels in a picante red sauce absolutely divine and more than one person could possibly eat. They were leftovers and shared later that day with a family member who also thought they were delicious. For my main course I had steak it was good however, I believe it was finished with a port wine sauce it wasn't wet but the next time I dined it was omitted. DELICIOUS! Went to celebrate a birthday and this spot is quite nice. The view is amazing. The skyline beautiful. Can't wait to go back on a warm day to eat outside. For a starter we had the CheeseSteak Rolls and Buffalo Shrimp. The rolls were delicious and came with two sauces, I preferred the ketchup. The Buffalo Shrimp weren't really spicy and had a light sauce on them, I would have preferred a little more Buffalo. For my main entree I had the Lamb...so tender. The mashed potatoes were good not a fan of the broccoli rabe. Overall, I would go again and would definitely try other items on the menu. Service was average. I moved away from NJ years ago, and I always wished a nice restaurant would open up in the Paulsboro-W Deptford area. The River Winds area had so much potential, and they are definitely capitalizing on it. What a wonderful addition to this area. The atmosphere is perfect for a romantic dinner or just going out with friends. Others love the cheesesteak springrolls, but I found mine to be somewhat dry. The roll was did not have much flavor, or than a deep-fried taste. I liked their twist on bruschetta, with the mozzarella base. The soba noodles compliments the ahi tuna perfectly....one of my favorite dishes. The salmon was perfectly prepared. Thankfully, not overcooked. It was moist, flaky, and flavorful. My buddy loved the shrimp tacos, but they're just not my thing. I am glad I got dessert. The balance of flavors with the peanut butter chocolate cake was perfect: mostly chocolate flavor with the background taste of peanut butter. After all that, we walked off the filling meal with a stroll by the river and then the jogging trail through the woods. Ahhh....Can't wait to do this all again. read more

Celebrated a family friends 60th bday party and was absolutely in love with everything about this restaurant. The venue itself is beautiful, service was great, food was outstanding and drinks were delicious. The room had so many windows and offered a beautiful view of the Delaware river and Philly skyline. I noticed the entire restaurant itself offered great views wether you wanted to sit inside or out. I would highly recommend coming here for a special event or dinner to celebrate a special occasion. I absolutely love The Riverwinds. I need to go there more often. I have been there on many different occasions and have never been disappointed. It sits right on the Delaware River where you can see Philadelphia across the river and some planes go back and forth because PHL is nearby. Went 3/9/23 for dinner. This place is fine dining cosplay. Got the cheese steak rolls as an appetizer. I got the porterhouse special which had a type of dark sauce and blue cheese crumbles on top of it, some asparagus and mashed potatoes. GF got the shrimp stuffed with crabmeat with some vegetables and mashed potatoes. The cheese steak rolls were pretty good but nothing to write home about. The vegan steak rolls at Monster Vegan in Philly were actually better. The shrimp were good but the vegetables and mashed potatoes all around were totally bland. They weren't even salted. I ordered the porterhouse medium rare and it was a complete rare. But what really annoyed me was that when the food came out, it was obviously sitting on the kitchen pass long enough for the food to lose all heat. The porterhouse entree was barely lukewarm, so I sent it back. It was brought back most likely nuked for 2 minutes, with a bunch more sauce dumped on top of it to make up for the drying of the meat. The restaurant wasn't even crowded so I don't know what kind of idiot was running the kitchen pass. For the prices the steak was really mediocre. If you want a steak don't go here. Go to a place like Steak 38 in Cherry Hill. Probably not coming back here unless it's for someone holding an event here. Other than the nice views, the food wasn't worth the price. read more

Riverwinds is definitely a place where you get five star food every time! I've been there a few times and hope to be going again since it's quite local to me. Myself and the people with me have never been disappointed in the food or service. It can be a busy place and a bit loud when crowded but nothing you can't tolerate. When it isn't crowded and still light out, it is a delight to view the river while dining. I would consider this a rather fancy restaurant but it doesn't feel "stuffy", and you do not have to get all dressed up in your Sunday clothes to go. Probably the worst restaurant I've been to in a long time. Cleanliness: all of the dishes were filthy. Wine glass had someone's lip stains still on it. All of the water glasses had specs of dirt that looked like bacteria buildup. Service: Our server was completely absent. Took 15 mins to be seen by one. She took our drink order but not food. Shows up 15 mins later with drinks and only asks us for appetizers. When I flag her down another 20 mins later about the dirty wine glass, she neglects to take our entree order. Food: For appetizers the mussels were not properly cleaned. They were covered in sand and some were still closed. The broth was not flavorful whatsoever. Also got hummus which was pretty underwhelming. The crab cake sandwich entree was decent, but nothing spectacular. Only saving grace was the key lime pie that honestly looked like it was made elsewhere. I think another reviewer was spot on. This was borderline diner level food but had higher end city prices just because of the view and neighborhood. I had a great meal. I've never stopped in Jersey to eat, only drive through. Luckily I was able to visit for a business lunch. The view was incredible! Watching the calm waters, boats, birds, and planes landing was really nice while waiting for our meal. I ordered the smokehouse burger which was really good. It comes with onion rings, which I don't like, but actually enjoyed. There was a nice smokey taste and it was just very delicious. For dessert I got some kind of chocolate cake with mouse. That was also good - chocolatey, light, and I believe it there was cream cheese and/or white chocolate in the middle. It was amazing. UGHHHHH. This place has so many mixed reviews and now I see why. I went to this place for my sisters graduation dinner. It was so busy and the view was beautiful! The dinner- we had a reservation and we weren't seated until 15-20 mins after. No big deal! We grabbed a drink at the bar. Once we were sitting we had two servers..? One took our drinks and apps then another came up and asked for our drinks and apps, it was confusing but they seemed to work it out. The apps we had were the cheese steak eggs rolls, clams, and calamari. The calamari was good cooked well, with normal marinara sauce. Cheese steak eggs rolls were huge! There was a ton of meat in them but they were dry... WHERES THE CHEESE?! Lastly the clams were a nice size, it's hard to mess up something you don't cook. Now time for the entrees. Overall they were subpar. Everyone was pleased but for the price I was expecting better. The one dish that was amazing is the lobster ravioli with crab meat. That was the best dish on the table. The desserts were fine as well, the peanut butter pie thing was the best! If you were looking for a fancy night out this is a place with a good view. However, the night turned out to be a pretty pleasant one after all. I enjoyed my drink and starter salad. I got the crab cake as my entrée- it comes with lobster cream on top so I ordered it on the side. The dish was so yummy. I am very picky about crab cakes, but they were perfectly full of lump crab meat. There was very little filler in the cake. Scallops were cook perfectly but did not pack enough punch even with the mango salsa. The chicken cobb salad was very good but the salad dressing did not taste like anything just oil, i would suggest requesting additional dressing like the raspberry vinaigrette which was very good. My Wife and I started with the French Onion Soup which we both found enjoyable. Next was salad, I got the Caesar which was small, not many homemade croutons(I wish there were more they were tasty) and the Caesar Dressing wasn't anything special. My wife got Blue Cheese Dressing, the salad was also small and her lettuce was slightly wilted. For her entrée she had the Pasta Rustica which had Penne Pasta, Sausage, Broccoli Rabe with a Rosa Sauce. The portion was good but the Sausage was both hot and sweet. It didn't say that on menu, my wife didn't mind, but for some people that may be an issue. She told me overall she thought it was an average dish. I ordered the Cowboy Bone In Ribeye, cooked medium and I added the Lump Crabmeat. I asked the waitress for the Lump Crabmeat to be on the Steak and is there any type sauce, usually with Crabmeat there is a sauce. She told me there isn't any sauce but I still asked for the Crabmeat to be on the Steak. Can't go wrong with Steak and Lump, right? Well the Steak was served with a brown sauce (on it), the Lump Crabmeat was in a bowl all by it's lonesome, I could tell the Lumb Crabmeat was very sad because it belonged on TOP the Steak not in a bowl on the side! And the sauce!?? Why was there a brown steak sauce on a Steak that was ordered with Lump Crabmeat on top and I was told NO sauce. I was never given a Steak knife so I had to use my butter knife. I've been to plenty 4 and 5 star Steak Houses which a butter knife is all you needed but this wasn't the case here. I took as much of the brown gravy off as I could(why put brown gravy on a Bone In Ribeye?) and put the Lump Crabmeat on. I got my butter knife and tried to cut the first piece, the Steak was more Medium Well than Medium so unfortunately it was not a very easy task, cutting it with a butter knife. By the time a staff member came near enough to my table to ask for a Steak knife I was already more than halfway done so I didn't even bother asking. The Lumb Crabmeat was victimized by the remnants of the unnecessary brown gravy and it was not as satisfying as it should have been. It actually tasted a little weird, brown gravy and Crabmeat are not a good combo. My wife is done with her average Pasta dish and I'm done with my very disappointing Steak with the extra Lump Crabmeat and we decided to ask to see the dessert menu since the waitress didn't ask us if we wanted to see it, she brought out a dessert tray and my wife selected peanut butter pie and I asked for cheesecake with strawberry topping. My Wife's peanut butter pie was good and my cheesecake was below average. They say homemade but it didn't seem homemade to me. The best part of our experience was the view. We sat outside and got there about 25 minutes before sunset. It was a beautiful night and the view was great. Even though I'm giving this only 2 stars I think because it's a local business we will wait a few months and give them one more try, if we do I will definitely post the part 2 review. read more
