I love trying new restaurants and have had this place on my radar for a while. We decided on a whim to try them on a Saturday night in the summer. We got right in with no wait. There was live music in the main dining room consisting of one singer singing Latin music. We were each given a tablet with the menu, which was pretty awesome. It took us a long time to decide what we wanted because we were enthralled by the extensive menu with all of the photos on the tablet. I decided to order a cocktail and my husband got the horchata while my mom got an unsweetened iced tea. They have a full bar with a ton of specialty drinks. My drink arrived with flower petals adorned to the side of the glass. We also received complimentary chips with salsa and salsa verde. As an appetizer we decided to do the taquitos. I love taquitos so I was excited, and the presentation was great. However when we bit into them we noticed they were just pieces of chicken breast rolled in tortillas and fried. No seasoning. No cheese, nothing mixed in. I was surprised. The taquitos I've had in the past are made with shredded chicken and potatoes with cheese. These were lacking flavor and dry. I wanted to love them so much but I just couldn't. For our entrees, I did the chimichanga mixto which was a chicken and beef chimichanga. They were on the smaller side but plenty for one person. The filling was mixed with salsa but again felt bland. They were serviced with a side of rice. My mom got the pina loka, which was grilled shrimp, chicken, and steak with onions and peppers inside a pineapple. Hers was very good. My husband got the La Jeño mix which had chicken shrimp and steak with cheese sauce, rice, and veggies. The flavor of his was pretty good as well. We skipped dessert, but the menu was extensive with all your Mexican favorites plus items like chicken parm. They also have a full breakfast menu. The music was very loud for the small dining area if you wanted to have a conversation, but the singer was doing his thing. We made sure to tip him on our way out. The servers checked on us frequently and service overall was good, I just wish the food wowed us more because I so wanted this to be our new fave.

Menu on a tablet really cool

Great Mexican food lunch or dinner. Service is great and the food is delicious. Plenty of seating and parking. I like the tablet menus. Loved everything we ordered from the chimichangas, to the mixed fajitas to three tacos. Everything was excellent. They also have great mixed drinks and alcohol as well as bottled sodas. Will definitely be back!

Service 10/10 Food 10/10 Ambience 10/10 I would highly recommend the seafood molcagete.

The service was excellent, loved the atmosphere inside and my wife loved the waterfall outside. The food was very good. Started with the empandas and the were very good, crispy on the outside with lots of chicken and cheese on the inside. Also tried the homemade guacamole, it was good but not great. No spice or lime or cilantro flavor. Both our meals were excellent and we both had the red sangria which was good but on the pricey side. We will for sure be back to try other things.

Empanadas!!!

First, it used to be a diner, but it has a bar! So it does not look like a typical Mexican restaurant. It's okay. It's adorable. Ivette, our server was so patient since it was such a large menu, it took me some time to decide. She is lovely and so sweet, explaining everything!!!! Not rushing us at all! The food was tasty, cooked to order, and pricing is totally reasonable! Menu is on a tablet!!!! It came out hot and delicious. They serve breakfast, and I can't wait to come back!!!! Live music on the weekends, Happy hour M-Th! I loved it!!!! We will go back! Bye Plaza Azteca, we do not need you anymore!!! This place is WAY better!!!!

Food and services was good, nice bar with good drinks they have a nice happy hour with a nice menu.

Ranchers Omelette. Outstanding.

My wife and i stopped in for breakfast after church. Service was great as well as the food. Ambiance was great also. We will definitely come back for dinner.

Huge menu of which you can view the menu from an IPad. I liked being able to see pictures of the dishes. The Mexican dishes that my friends ordered looked so good. Large portions with reasonable prices. I had a chicken cheesesteak wrap which was also delicious however they brought out a sandwich at first. They were quick to rectify. They split the bill in half which was nice but the first half got their food a good ten minutes before the second half. I would come back to try other dishes though.

Food and vibes were great with a fun, welcoming atmosphere. The margs were a bit sweet for my taste, but I'd definitely give it another try.

The drink selection is almost endless! I went with the house IPA The Jersey G.O.A.T. Jersey Blue Haze by Double Nickel on draft and smooth as silk! Yum! My wife went with a margarita flight: 4 generous mini margaritas of different flavors with all the trimmings salt etc! She loved it! As for the food? The GOAT did not disappoint! My wife had the Mahi Mahi over Jasmine rice...a nice portion of moist fish cooked perfectly! As for me I went simple. 4 cheese Mac n cheese, delicious and in a cast iron pot that kept the Mac and cheese ooey gooey throughout the meal! I figured I'd try the GRILLED wings....good move! I went for the honey hot version.... Cooked just right and bursting with flavor! Our kids had the Mac n Cheese also 1 original and 2 went with the Buffalo chicken cutlets on top...they all inhaled those plates without a complaint ! You gotta get to the JERSEY GOAT! We will be returning soon for more menu items and to try some more of their various adult beverages! I'm eyeing up the Big A** Chicken Parm for the next visit!

Our food was good, I had the Bennie with arugula, guacamole, and prosciutto on it, it was good but the arugula was to wet which took away from the dish. It lacked flavor and appears they were totally reliant on the sauce to give it flavor. Old bay fries were just ok..nothing to write home about. Drinks were also just average. Even for non top shelf drinks they were pretty costly. Nice vibes but can't say I would recommend. Food absolutely needs improvement and happy hour selections needs to be enhanced.

This was honestly the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. I'm still mad thinking about it…read more Let's start with the service. There was only one server struggling to run the bar while another employee just sat at the bar glued to TikTok, not lifting a finger. I ordered a beer and a cocktail at the bar, and the server just disappeared to help someone else while I stood there waiting like an idiot. They don't serve tables. You have to order at the bar, pick up your own food, and then eat it out of to-go boxes like you're at a takeout joint... except they still force a 20% tip on the bill. For what? There's no table service, no one checks on you, and you're doing everything yourself. We ordered potato skins, wings, tostones, and an alcapurria. The potato skins were disgusting--drenched in cheap gas station nacho cheese. The wings and tostones were clearly frozen, low-quality, store-brand stuff. I was genuinely hungry and still couldn't eat it. And I never throw away food. And just when I thought it couldn't get worse--they charged my card for someone else's food and then GAVE MY CARD TO THAT PERSON. Seriously. I had to cancel my credit card, freeze my account, and now I have to update all my autopay bills just because of this place's incompetence. Do yourself a favor and stay far, far away. Horrible service, terrible food, shady billing practices. A complete mess from start to finish.

There's two dining areas that can be chosen with one having a bar that can seat 10+ people. Started with a couple of great drinks and their french onion soup. The soup was topped with a cheese layer and pieces of crostinis within the soup. Great for a snowy day. The california chicken wrap was a big meal especially with the flaky french fries on the side. The sandwich needed more chipotle mayo on the side which was great for the fries. My medium rare wagyu burger with the bacon jam was HUGE! The jam did taste like beef jerky which was a new experience. We will definitely be back to try some of their other menu items.

We didn't realize that the restaurant was a part of a country club until we arrived (no where in the reviews did it mention this) but we've done brunch at other country clubs throughout Jersey and it was wonderful. Upon entering the restaurant we saw their only brunch option was for a brunch buffet and from our quick scans of the buffet walking to the hostess stand we all decided we would not be doing brunch (pastries looked like they were from Coscto, warm food looked as though it had been sitting there for a while and the omelettes coming from the omelette station didn't look spectacular so we opted to do their lunch menu instead. Service was SSSLLLLLOOOOOWWWWW! From the very beginning until the very end. It took about 15 minutes before our server arrived to greet us, then another 15 for our first round of cocktails to come out, the about a half an hour for us to be told that they were out of 1 of the 3 appetizers we ordered ... so no lie, after being there a full hour we finally received 2 of the 3 appetizers and were then just able to order a second round of cocktails and our main courses. The cocktails weren't the greatest either. We thought perhaps the first round was our fault because we all tried their "blackberry espresso martini" and we knew it was a risk from the beginning ... so we ordered "safer" cocktails for round 2 and the prosecco based cocktails were even worse than the blackberry espresso martinis smh. I truly don't understand how one messes up prosecco + a splash of limoncello and cranberry (that was what was supposed to be in the cocktail) but they certainly messed it up, to the point where I didn't drink it. Our entrees finally arrived and WOMP WOMP WOMP! Overall every single one was MID at best ... and all I had was French onion soup and a wedge salad .... like how is it possible for those to be BLAH? Food was so MEH we didn't even take pics lol. Needless to say we all agreed we wouldn't be back and wished we had decided on what was our 2nd option for brunch instead.

My wife again chose The Chop House for her birthday dinner celebration and for great reason! We came on her birthday, a Tuesday evening, for drinks and appetizers in the bar area. The gentleman working valet was very respectful and professional and while I can take or leave valet in most cases, he definitely added to the upscale experience of the entire night. Upon seating ourselves at a high-top, both bartenders on shift greeted us with huge smiles and very warm hello's. They are familiar faces to my wife's family and were genuinely happy to see us. Unfortunately, we learned my wife's family's favorite server, Debbie, recently retired but great for her! The bartenders were fabulous themselves. Service, personability, mixology skills were all top-notch. They fit the sophisticated vibe of the restaurant perfectly. We started with drinks of course! A Stoli Elit Martini with a twist, a Dirty Martini, an Apple Butter Old Fashioned, and a Tito's and Club. The drinks came out beautifully. Smooth, chilled. I ordered the Apple Butter Old Fashioned as I was intrigued, but skeptical. While I thought it was good, I'd prefer a regular or Smoked Old Fashioned to the Apple Butter. My wife loved it though. We ordered lots of food to split and each appetizer we picked was as good if not better than the next. The Tuna Nachos fresh and had a tropical, savory flavor with pineapple mixed in. The Kona Tips were tender, full of flavor coming from the Kona crust and sautéed mushrooms/onions, and were served in a skillet full of sauce perfect for soaking up with bread. I actually liked the Kona Tips appetizer more than I liked the Kona Crust I got on my NY Strip I ordered last year (the Strip was great I'd just prefer no Kona crust on the entree). The Flatbread De Jour was a Kona Tip flatbread, which you may call us crazy for ordering two Kona Tip inspired appetizers, but the Kona Tips are just that good. The Oysters we had were small (just how I like them) and were up there with the best Oysters I've had. We finished up with Fried Calamari. They were lightly battered, fried nicely, tender, and served over a bed of different hot peppers (when I say hot, I mean it!). Everything was delicious and there wasn't one appetizer we chose that I wouldn't order again or recommend to others. We did order a few more drinks throughout the night -- another Elit Martini and a Hendrix Martini with the appetizers and then Bailey's on the rocks and Frangelico on the rocks as after dinner, dessert drinks. We ordered a Brownie Sundae for the table for my wife's birthday while she was excused from the table and the bartender brought it out with a lit candle. The bartender also brought out a complementary miniature Crème Brûlée for my wife as she acknowledged The Chop House's Crème Brûlée as one of her favorites earlier in the night when we were talking about the menu. I thought the entire night went as good as you could have hoped. Valet, bar service, food, drinks, desserts, atmosphere. Everything was amazing and most importantly my wife had a great birthday. This is two years in a row we celebrated her birthday at The Chop House and I wouldn't mind seeing this turn into her birthday tradition.

He checked on us through out our meal to ensure we were enjoying our meal. We had the calamari and dozen raw oysters which were both fresh and delicious. We had the Chophouse steak experience which worked out perfectly for our table of four and actually could've feed 5 easily. It consisted of 4 cuts of steaks and my favorites were the filet and ribeye. They were seasoned perfectly and grilled medium rare. Our sides were mashed potatoes, CH hash browns, and grilled asparagus. The weakest link was the asparagus which were small in size but still tasty. I will definitely be back based on service, food and value. This is a perfect restaurant for celebrations, dates and casual dining. Definitely a gem of a restaurant. Will be back sooner than later.
