They also had some food and drink specials that represented each country participating in the competition! Our service was amazing, attentive, and quick despite it being busy. I ordered a Buffalo Chicken Salad that was fresh and delicious! My family members had chicken wraps, burgers, and club sandwiches that came with fries. We all enjoyed our meal as well as our drinks! We came here to grab dinner before a play at the theatre next door and I didn't know what to expect since the reviews were all over the place, but we were pleasantly surprised! The alcoholic drinks were large and strong. You definitely get your money's worth. The chicken quesadilla was one of the better ones I've had. It was packed an inch high with tender chicken and gooey cheese, then topped with additional fixings. It also came with a side sour cream and salsa. We also tried the bang bang shrimp which again, one the best versions I've had- crunchy batter and delicious sauce. The sweet potato fries were another hit with a sweet marshmallow sauce that really added to the experience. The vaulted ceilings and TVs give the place an open, welcoming vibe, and our waitress couldn't have been nicer. Overall, this spot exceeded expectations and was the perfect pre-show stop. PRO TIPS Little did we know on weekends, this main street becomes more like a main drag as there so many roaring, noisy motor cycles that streamed by. Not the restaurant's fault, but future patrons should note this. They charge you an additional almost 4% if you use a credit card. Service was OK. We had to constantly flag down someone for a refill on drinks, for missing condiments, etc. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know, prices have gone up but almost $30 per person for ice tea and splitting an appetizer and a main meal between two people was a little eye-watering. Pitman, NJ is such a cute town. While walking the main strip, we stumbled on this bar. It is in an interestingly large building across a cute park. The place has outdoor dining as well. I ended up getting a gyro salad. It was impressively big for a salad. I really liked the gyro meat with the tzatziki sauce. The salad also consisted of lettuce, tomatoes, and carrots. I really like how the lettuce, tomatoes, and carrots were vinegary. The pita breads around the plate were perfectly toasted as well. The bartender was very nice and found extra tzatziki sauce even after the kitchen closed. read more

I have gone to merryman's since they have opened.I live close by. I have brought many people there, i'm friends with some of the staff. Last night I went out with a friend to merrymans. The elderly woman who seats people was extremely rude to me. She's always been rude whenever I come in no smile, no welcome very miserable. But last night was completely uncalled for. I'm asking for the video footage of her yelling at me screaming.I'm banned forever from merriman's.I can truly say I still don't understand why. I was not drunk. I asked her about an employee who makes good drinks. I said i wished her where at the bar. She then was completely out of control. Infront of 11 people. Wveryone looked shocked. i'm hoping to meet with someone to watch the video footage. I want someone to see she verbally attacked and embarrassed me She has never been a nice woman.I have told my friends we won't need to go to Martinis now very lovely staff at Martinis. Aside from this woman, mistreating and insulting customers, I don't have any other complaints about Merrymans. Ive never been treated so poorly at a business. Parking is right across the street which makes it easy getting here. Little small town but inside of this place it's pretty huge with bar and table seats. They play music and have a few TVs to watch if you want. Apps were great. Our favorite was the brussel sprouts which came with 2 pieces of toasted bread. Very good and satisfying. The fries could've had a few more pieces of chicken and more blue cheese sauce. If you order ask for a side of blue cheese to offset the buffalo sauce flavor. Kinda soggy as well. If anything get the buffalo chicken egg rolls. I imagine they would be a ton more satisfying than the fries. Sandwiches were very good. Both buns were toasted great with the sandwiches being packed with meat. Chicken was juicy and done well. The roast beef ,when squeezed, dripped juices and went well with the veggies on it. Onions are a must and need to spring extra for them. Skip on the sweet potato fries unless you want something sweet. Comes with a cinnamon sauce on the side and wasn't expecting that. Was surprised to see such a large bar in this small town. At the time we visited, it was largely empty and thus quite spacious. Bartender was prompt and provided us menus as soon as we sat down. She took our drinks request followed by our meal choices. Unlike most bars, she even gave us her name, personalizing our service even further. Purchased a fuego burger, gyro salad, heavy seas dark beer, and white zinfandel. The burger was bland and forgettable. Didn't taste much flavor in it. Went here on a Saturday night with a group. We called ahead for a reservation and our table was ready as soon as we arrived. Very cool ambiance inside. They stripped away the walls and you can see the raw stones from the original building. The seating area is really jammed, so getting around is a little awkward. Service was fast and friendly. Our waiter Jake was great. Food was just meh for me. I got the pickle-brined fried chicken sandwich. For $17, I'd expect that the chicken isn't smaller than the tomato. The fries were good, but I walked away from dinner still hungry. Prices are on the high side for what you're getting. I'm not from the area, so this was a one off for us, but we wouldn't make a special trip back for Merryman's. read more

Awesome service from reserving to dining! One of their busiest days and they managed to get it right with great service and food. My mother in law is tough to please and she loved it! Another mid dining experience in the Pitman area. I will say, this place LOOKS the part: it's a converted bank, that lends a nice little gravitas to the whole dining experience, but in my limited encounter, it just didn't wow in anyway. We stopped in for date night a while back. We actually skipped it at first, because after asking a passing waitress if they do happy hour, we found out that they don't. But, not having many good options left, (Milkbar closed, not a fan of Martinis, and we do the Cocina often), and running out of time on the babysitter, we decided to double back. We opted to sit outside, and got right to the menu. The menu was weird. Oddly expensive in parts, but there is one aspect of the menu that is SHOCKINGLY affordable; full bottles of wine. Seriously, I even pulled the waiter to the side to inquire about what I saw on the menu. A glass of wine will run you like $8-9 dollars, but a BOTTLE of wine is about $20! At any other restaurant, they are charging $70 for a bottle. The waiter even said, "it's one of the most reasonable prices on our menu." So, points to them for that, but it was offset by some of the food prices just being obnoxious. Burgers $20, side of fries $11; that type of shit. I decided to go with the buffalo chicken mac and cheese, and the Misses got the chili. Meh. Nothing noteworthy about the food in either direction. The vibe and ambiance were fine; sitting outside allows for people watching as people walk down the main street, but it is also something to keep in mind if you are sitting on the street side. A LOT of people are going to be passing your table. We sat on the building side, so we didn't have to deal with foot traffic. Service was fine, but it was a little slow in getting our check. All in all, just a very vanilla experience. I certainly wouldn't avoid Merrymans Pub, but I'm in no rush to get back here either. read more

Tried this place before a show at the nearby Pitman Theater. Despite it being bustling, we were able to be seated immediately at a table in the corner. The server we had was a very kind man who was attentive. Water glasses were replenished and his recommendations for the night ended up being big hits! I thought the food was very good, but didn't blow me away. I'll probably give them another shot but seems like a nice place to get a good meal right off of Broadway. read more

If you're just trying to be "average/decent" while hoping to capitalize on a good location, then so be it. But why charge more than places that are actually better? People pick up on that. When you pull up to the beautifully lit building with cathedral ceilings and huge windows, you are ready for a great night. Gorgeous. Service was impeccable and the food was amazing. We started with the sticky ribs and the fried pickle chips. The pickles were perfect - tasty and not greasy at all - dipping sauce was delicious. The ribs were a little dry but still tasted great. The place had amble seating & this day was quizzo day. We went here for some drinks, the flatbread & homemade mozzarella sticks. Nice place unfortunately, our waiter was not great. We received our drinks & were there for an hour!! I noticed that the other guess being served by didn't waiters were getting their food while we got nothing. We decided to just pay for our drinks & go somewhere else. Luckily, Mrs. Peggy saved the day. She was the person that sat us so she knew how long we were there. She went & got our food and comped our meal. The mozzarella sticks were okay but the white flatbread was really good. We were going to pay but insisted she would take care of it. Merryman's opened about a year ago in the worst of pandemic times, but they're thriving now! I don't live in NJ anymore but was visiting last week and stumbled upon this spot in the old bank. And by stumbled, I mean that almost literally. I was walking down Broadway with my mom to grab coffee, saw the pub name and tables out front, and my mom said, "Oh, let's go there." We were able to snag a table out front and our friendly server brought menus right over. We ordered the pickle chips to start (delicious). I also skipped coffee in favor of a Bonesaw lager, while my mom ordered a moscato that she loved. For our meals, my mom had the white basil flatbread and I had the Jersey burger (because, pork roll). The burger was cooked medium well, per my request, and my mom loved her flatbread. Only miss I'd say is that their menu wasn't fully up to date. They didn't have my first beer choice nor the mixed berry cake dessert. Mild bummers in comparison to the delicious, random lunch excursion. Such a cool spot for a casual dinner. Whether it's a well-planned date night, last minute decision to grab some grub with the kids, or a night to have solid drinks and watch the big game...Merryman's provides a unique setting that can accomodate all three. Just a neat story, being a refurbished bank building...they kept some of the old build integrity but added modern fixtures and technology that make it exciting. Along with great food, you've got entertainment and music to boot. Their menu is huge, but it centers around traditional pub food. We really enjoyed their elevated bruschetta plate (bread was toasted perfectly and roasted red peppers added a nice touch) and their irish spring rolls (picture ham & cabbage in a fried roll). I hd their fuego burger, which packed some heat, but was led by the sweet and savory mix of flavors. Big portions - you are going to leave full! They have a great draft selection as well. We did run into a couple of snags. One, where we had to order a different beer, twice, because the first two options ended up being tapped. They were still on the menu, but with no way of knowing whether or not they were available to the customer. That was kind of a let down, and even though the server was nice in delivering the news, from a customer service perspective...having some better organization there is an opportunity area for sure. The second thing was timing of the food. One person in our party ordered a steak. They first brought out his salad and steamed potato, and I kid you not...the steak didn't come out until 10 minutes later. So that was kind of weird dynamic to eat your sides before the main entree. We(me & my sister) have been to this place 3 times. It is just a cool place. An open floor plan pub in a converted small town bank. We have been here in various seasons and it is still a favorite when we are in town for a show for a bite to it. The space fills up and turns over all night with new customers, all ages and party sizes. Everyone is super nice and always hustling. Ms Donna was our server, but everyone jumped in to help & chat about. Well staffed. Many TVs but never gave off a sport bar vibe. My sister had one of the specials, a Gyro, it was delicious. I had a menu staple, Cubano Americano, which was perfect. Both were top with an Ice Cold Coors Light. They always have rotating local beers as well. Their prices are fair. We came across this spot via TikTok and it was pretty good! The restaurant looks like it was previously a bank. High ceilings and stone give the restaurant just a warm, welcoming feeling. The drink menu is HUGE! Loved seeing some of the craft beer listed from the local brewery Bonesaw. I tried the Pimms cup, which is one of the small batch cocktails offered. It was delicious and came with mint, apples, limes, and orange. To start, my boyfriend and I got the Brussels sprouts which came with slices of baguette for sauce dunking. Honestly, my favorite part of the meal! I also got the chopped salad...it was good but didn't really come with as much of the fixings as i expected. The chicken was cooked to perfection, though. My boyfriend got the Cuban sandwich which he said was how he expected it to taste. My brother and cousin shared some wings which they really enjoyed. We also tried the sweet potato fries which came with this amazing cream cheese frosting. None of us had ever tried that combo and were all pleasantly surprised. My brother had opted for the Italian wedding soup which had way too much cheese for his liking, so he asked to have it replaced with the chicken noodle. It was over fried to the point of chewy. The pickled chicken sandwich was just ok. Pretty thin chicken cutlet. Fries were good, service was nice, restaurant is very festive and nicely decorated for Christmas. 2.5 stars for just the quality of the food. My mother and I have dinner at Merryman's about once a week. Good food and great service. The staff is absolutely amazing. Friendly and treats my elderly mother like a queen. What more could a daughter want? We've tried almost everything on the menu and have not been disappointed in any of our meals. We're very predictable with our drinks and have only tried the Merryman's iced coffee (alcohol) and Malibu Bay Breeze. Both are always exactly what we need after a long work week. Delicious and served by the most awesome bartenders in NJ. We love the raw stone walls and chill ambiance of the restaurant. It can get a little loud, but never enough that it bothers us. There is also outside dinning if you desire. My wife and I went to the bar since we got there early and were waiting for some friends. The beer selection was very good and so was the cocktail list. The bartender was friendly and kept us occupied while we waited. The food selection is basically as described, American (Traditional), with typical fare such as burgers, flat breads, sandwiches, etc. This is really perfect for any group that requires a range of dining options. I ordered the Buffalo Shrimp Basket and Roasted Brussels Sprouts. The shrimp had a good buffalo sauce on it and they were cooked well. It came with fries underneath the shrimp. Overall I thought the shrimp and fries were fine, but nothing out of the ordinary. The Brussels Sprouts though were really good, although looking back at the menu seemed kind of high, price wise. Wow! Very impressed! The food are drinks are delicious here. I was strolling around, during the Fall Pitman Craft Show and was looking for somewhere to have lunch. I had heard that a pub had come to town a couple years ago, but this place is impressive. A former bank, that the owners took the time to covert and did a great job. The pulled pork Mac & cheese was so good, probably one of the top three pulled pork dishes that I have tasted. Our service was wonderful and they had a apple cider donut hard cider on tap that was once cold and perfect. We stopped here for some drinks and bar food after reading amazing reviews.. We ordered quesadillas, cheese steak egg rolls, cream of mushroom soup, and tacos... none of which were desirable. The drinks were pretty good! (Very strong and expensive) but when I found out my beverage was made with Apple liquor and hot water??? It took away the enjoyment.. The place is very aesthetically pleasing but I will be avoiding it in the future. We also made reservations to eat outside as we continue to to be covid conscious and on the day New Jersey "opened up" the indoor facility was packed to the brim and there were no masks in sight.
