We stopped here for some drinks and bar food after reading amazing reviews.. We ordered quesadillas, cheese steak egg rolls, cream of mushroom soup, and tacos... none of which were desirable. The drinks were pretty good! (Very strong and expensive) but when I found out my beverage was made with Apple liquor and hot water??? It took away the enjoyment.. The place is very aesthetically pleasing but I will be avoiding it in the future. We also made reservations to eat outside as we continue to to be covid conscious and on the day New Jersey "opened up" the indoor facility was packed to the brim and there were no masks in sight. We did receive an attitude from the hostess about our seating arrangements because she had to "dry off the table" (which was still wet when we were eventually seated) I may or may not be giving this place another chance In the distant future. read more

A day for drinking and cheesesteaks continued at Merryman's Pub. We were very happy to find Merryman's Pub. Everyone was great starting with the nice lady that answered the phone. We were really impressed with all of the different drinks the bartender was making. The cheesesteak came with very good french fries. The cheesesteak was disappointing. The roll was good enough. The meat was on the dry side. The menu says it comes with NY American Cheese. NY American cheese is very runny and could be wiz. The big chunks of onion added flavor. read more

What a great place to stop by and have a drink or two at the end of the day. I was here during the COVID pandemic but by August they had both indoor and outdoor seating available. We chose outdoor because we came with a dog and it was great. Service was still supper quick and efficient. There's lots of seating and a cool old fashioned London Telephone both outside too. We decided to try all 3 of the Mules that they had on the menu: Moscow Mule, London Mule and Mexico Mule. They were all great in there own way. The Moscow Mule was a classic that everyone loves. The Mexico Mule, wow, be careful, it was the strongest drink out of the three and you could definitely taste the tequila, the London Mule was my personal favorite (but I'm also a gin fan). I think the added touch of min in the London Mule made this a winner for summer nights. This is a cute staple bar with great service and great drinks. I'll definitely be stopping by here again when I'm in the area. Hoping to try the inside service next time. read more

This is focused just on the food and drinks we ordered. It was a nice almost-fall day with a cool breeze so we decided to try out the new place in town (without having to sit street-side). Our waitress was great & answered any questions we had. I ordered the classic caesar salad with chicken and a Pepsi and my husband ordered the beer cheese nachos and Bonesaw Brewing Swoosh. We didn't have too many expectations for the food but given the price we had hoped it'd be a little better than it was. The nachos were pretty sad if I'm honest; the cheese looked and tasted like it came out of a bag (and not in the good way; think 7/11 nacho cheese paste) and the other toppings were meh at best. You definitely do not get your monies worth with this one and my husband couldn't bring himself to finish it. The Caesar salad was okay. Not the best, not the worst. Had all the hallmarks of a Caesar salad which was nice. The Pepsi came in a cute mason-esque mug but was flat (not entirely unexpected at a bar so whatever) and the Swoosh was great. Overall, it was nice to sit outside on a nice afternoon with good company. Probably won't eat here again for a while though. read more

Went here the other day. There is a sign out front saying that you aren't funding a CEO you are helping someone who is basically supporting their children. When I read this sign I thought to myself... wow must be awesome! Well, were we wrong. The place is very inviting and the architecture and esthetics are delightful. There were only a few guys at the bar. We were the only ones sitting at a table to eat. When we go out to eat we like to try everything, so we started with 2 appetizers. Fried pickles, which my husband said were awful, and the onion rings which were excellent. The onion rings need a better dipping sauce than french dressing. The french dressing came in a cheap plastic cup, you'd think with how nice this place was they could do better. I ordered a soup and that never came and it was never mentioned. Maybe the waiter should have written our order down? We both got the basic bacon burgs and we were told they grind their own meat. My husband didn't think it was good. I actually thought the burger itself was very tasty. The bacon on both burgers was almost inedible, some parts were cooked well, but the rest of it was very fatty limp and barely cooked. We will not go back to this place, they might even deserve another shot. But they are also soooooo expensive for mediocre to worse food. read more

Unfortunately, I was not overly impressed with my visit here. Tom, our waiter, was extremely nice and the service he gave us was amazing! But as far as the food and drinks, I was underwhelmed. I had the All American Burger, which came with fries. Sadly, both the burger and fries were nothing too special. They weren't terrible, but there is certainly room for improvement for both of them. I also got the Kentucky Burbon, which was a good drink! But I was surprised to see how pricey their cocktails were. Also, I believe their menu was very small and should consider many more options for both entrees and appetizers. Considering how they are still relatively new, I think this place will only get better from here. Although I wasn't completely satisfied with my first visit, I look forward to giving this place another shot since it has so much potential in a great location in Pitman. read more

I love having an awesome gastropub so close home! The staff is friendly and attentive. The renovated bank building is really cool. There's a fairly large u-shaped bar that you can hunker down at. As a vegetarian, I REALLY appreciate the variety of options for me. I usually order a merryman's style beyond burger, but the hummus, cauliflower wings and flatbreads are all tasty! read more

First, the positives... a beautiful building well appointed and adequately staffed. Pitman is a cute little town that could use a bar/pub. Unfortunately, this place falls well short of fulfilling that need. The food was pathetic and the prices charged were outrageous. A $16 cheesesteak that resembled a mini WaWa ... and they have the audacity to charge another $3 to "upgrade" to onion rings! You get four... no dipping sauce. The chicken sandwich and small Caesar salad ($5 upgrade!) was served cold on a stale roll. Absolutely horrid! Cocktails and beer prices again, very high considering it is Pitman and not Manhattan... skip this place until or unless they right the ship. read more

Let me start by saying our server was great! She was very sweet and served us quickly and stayed on top of our party of 11. That being said, the tables were jammed in like sardines in a tin can! We were not comfortable which didn't help the experience. The southern fried chicken cutlet was blah. No flavor. Then to get sweet potato fries it was a $3 charge. The iced tea was nasty. $27 for a piece of chicken and some fries was way over priced. $18 burgers. Way over priced for what it was. Attended their first attempt at a NYE party. Tables were crunched together, someone must have seen I was unhappy, because someone came over that tried to make room for me. The unused tables were put in a corner next to us, taking up room. Very tight. Perhaps could have stacked them up with the chairs and covered it with a tablecloth or something, or put somewhere else. DJ was ok, had room to dance, good party and dance favors. The buffet was on the other side of the room, had to walk through other half of the bar that was not doing the NYE package. We were told the food was out, ready to go, but no serving utensils. Had to stand around to wait for that. Then more food came out later, didn't get back to try it. Not a smooth operation there, but the food I did have was good. The owner was there and paying attention to how things were going, good to see. Lots of tvs to watch the ball drop, waitress was nice. Bathrooms are nice. The others who attended had a good time, lots of dancing. Not sure I would do again for the price. read more

It's a really nice place with good food and a great staff. Sadly in comparison to other restaurant\bars they are overpriced. Just about all of the craft beer and cocktail bars we frequent that are in the same range of look and feel are about $2 to $3 less per food item. It really stood out when a group of us went and had a few Bonesaw beers and paid $8 to $10 per beer. Those same beers sell for $13 to $15 a 4 pack and generally run $6 to $7 per can at other local places. I'm not one to throw money away so I'll always wind up picking one of the other places we go that offer the same menu with an expanded craft beer list. read more

Um I absolutely loved this place! We went at a weird time so it was pretty empty, so the service was exceptionally good. The hostess lady was really sweet, and we loved the decor. It must have been an old bank judging by the awesome gigantic windows. The ambiance was definitely on point, and the bar portion of the restaurant looked like a great place to hang out. We ordered red sangria which we quite liked. I was hoping that the fall drinks would be out but they are still in watermelon margarita season unfortunately. For lunch I ordered the pickle fried chicken sandwich which was fantastic. And subbing for the sweet potato fries was the best life decision I've made in a long time because it came with a sweet delicious dipping sauce. The whole meal was fantastic and I decimated my sandwich. My mom got the short rib mac and cheese which I tasted and was fabulous as well. Shout out to our super cute and personable waiter Nick. Merryman's has standard pub food and a few good beers on tap. Nothing special from my visit. Service, Food, Beer review follows: Service. Friendly staff, clean, newly remodeled- old bank building . New establishment is co-owned by a family who runs several other restaurants in Pitman, including a pizza joints, with pizza also on Merriman's menu. Food. I tried the fish n chips, which I found disappointing. Too much breading. The giant square (Cod or Sponge Bob?) entree was really a chopped fish cake, plopped on top of an entire plate of French fries, never a good presentation, owing to the wobbly way one must cut and eat it. Served with a minuscule 2 ounce plastic cup each of warm Cole slaw and warm Tartar(?) sauce. I've had better fish from the frozen section at my grocer. Although this place presents a bit of a British vibe, I will go somewhere else for British style fish and chips, like the Dandelion in Philadelphia. Beer. The bar has a few good beers on tap but not as many local Craft beers as I expected for a new pub in a craft beer dominated market, where customers have a wide variety of fresh beer from which to choose. In spite of a narrow selection on tap --many are in cans-- I enjoyed a great nitro IPA-Spellbound, on tap from Mount Holly NJ. I might stop in for a beer sometime if a group insists on it, but not sure if I will try the food again. Some say the burgers are great, so maybe I'll give that a try if I visit again. read more

Stopped in to this place after strolling the streets of Pitman...seemed busy enough so stuck around. Loved the video playing on one of the TV's that chronicled the makeover the building went through to become the establishment it is today. Bartender was friendly enough and decided to go on his recommendation of the burger. "Meat is a special blend ground fresh on premise everyday" worked for us. So once the burger arrived it was well past the medium that we ordered and the French fries were those ones that sit under a heat lamp in the back until the next order...you know...warm enough to think there hot but starting to get soggy and cold... Anyway the burger although tasty was served by a "waiter" who had our burger in one hand and his lunch in the other!! I have NEVER seen this and in my opinion completely unacceptable!!! As if COVID isn't enough to deal with I need to have my waiter eating his meal as he delivers my food??? NEVER AGAIN!!! I would contact the local board of health but don't think I'll waste my time!!! They also need a heater for the vestible. Diining room is freezing when the door opens/closes. We won't be back after our visit last night. Spent too much money on below average food. I asked the hostess Peggy if we could sit at one of the open tables in the bar area since the Steel stools at the hi-tops where they placed us are difficult to sit on. Her answer was "No! Visiting friends in Sewell, we popped over for snacks and a beer. Cute place with tables along the main drag. Expect to see a few cool cars cruise. The library across the street has music Sunday's in the summer. Based on our friends' experience, we were firm in out requests for burgers rare/medium rare and Nick took good care of us. Nice draft list with locals brews and ciders. I haven't seen cider served on ice, so if you have a preference, say so. I had the buffalo blue burger, tasty and delightfully messy with a nicely charred edge. The onion rings (you'll get about four good-sized rings) are worth the upgrade. read more

I have been looking forward to coming to this local establishment since they opened. We ordered 3 appetizers and 3 beers, service and server were fine, food came quickly and we had a chance to sit and talk. Downside of the place is it is very expensive, close to $100 (including tip) and, on top of that, they charge a 3.5% sevice fee for using a credit card. There is a sign on the desk as you come in as a warning, but it is a little late once you are there.... Ok place, glad we tried it, but there are lots of other fish in the sea. read more

Sat inside this time and had a very nice lunch. Tried a drink special Empress 76 which I really liked being a Prosecco fan. My cousin had the Moscow mule which was really good also. I enjoyed the Malibu Bay Breeze too it was just perfect for an afternoon off. Our server/bartender, Nick, provided awesome service and made her a white chocolate and orange martini for the perfect desert! Myself, my husband and our two young children dined here on a Friday evening at 5pm. The setting: The building is an old bank that, as per our server, sat empty for years before being renovated and turned into this establishment. While we weren't there to watch a game, there were plenty of tv's so that everyone, regardless of seat, could watch. Might be a fun spot to catch a game. High ceilings, huge windows, flooded with natural light and plenty of space to move about. The exposed stone work is neat and gives the interior a really nice feel. There is also a nice sized bar to sit at and enjoy a few drinks. The server: Tom was our server and he was outstanding. He was attentive, friendly, prompt and wonderful with our two children. He provided excellent menu recommendations and even went above and beyond to give us some tips on where to go in town for some ice cream afterwards. The food: We split a Bavarian pretzel with cheese and some fried pickles. Both were great! We had the buffalo chicken flatbread, an italiano chicken cutlet sandwich and a pickle chicken sandwich. The italiano was a generous portion packed with flavor. My husband had 1/2 to take home for a late night snack. The pickle chicken sandwich was amazing. The chicken was brined in pickle juice and then battered and fried. A slice of cheese and two pickle spears were all that was needed. So tender and so much flavor!! We dined inside but noticed on our way out that there were some musicians playing across the street in a small park. Those seated outside enjoyed some live dinner music that night. We will be back again and again. I noticed some reviews complaining about slow service or food not being perfect. Please remember that these guys "opened" during a pandemic and had the odds stacked against them. Everyone in this industry (amongst others) is simply doing their best. A few weeks ago, my family and I had our first experience at Merryman's. We ordered the cheesesteak egg rolls, mozzarella sticks, and I ordered the mushroom swis burger. We ordered for pickup and the food was ready very quickly, within 20 minutes. An extremely pleasant atmosphere too that we cannot wait to eat at once indoor dining resumes. Edit: Took away some stars because we also ordered a flat bread but it wasn't given to us. We realized this when we got home. However the receipt was not itemized, so at the moment we just assumed they forgot about it upon ordering, and we did not feel like having to drive back to the restaurant. Later on my mother added up everything we did get (the burger, the mozzarella sticks, the cheesesteak egg rolls, and the drinks), and it came up about 18 dollars more expensive than it should be (the price of the flat bread). My mother messaged Merrymans on Facebook but they have not yet responded to her. We are not holding any grudges as this was one of their first nights open, and mistakes happen! However compensation for the flat bread would be nice. read more

We dined outside the first day they opened. Enjoyed the cocktails and their many specialties. We shared the giant pretzel as an appetizer. It was delicious and perfectly warmed. Ordered a flat bread to share and it was such a nice size we had an extra slice at the end. Someone ordered a burger and it was huge and they loved it. We are close by and look forward to returning again soon. The interior is beautiful it's a shame that we still can't dine inside.
