I was shocked to see such mixed reviews for this place. We stopped in for lunch and could not have been happier. The buffalo chicken fries (a first for me) were amazing. The Fuego Burger was obscenely decadent but tempered by the fact that it wasn't huge- it was the perfect blend of quantity and quality and was about the tastiest burger I have ever had. It's really bad. The service is decent, that's all. The prices are ridiculous. I wanted to try the wings, but not about to pay that much. The Brussel sprouts we got were completely torched, not just crispy, but burnt to brutality. They had no flavor, except burnt roughage. The nachos were awful. Very dry with hardened cheese. There were minimal toppings. The pickle chips had such a bland breading. It was akin to eating a pickle wrapped in a paper towel. The mac n cheese was like the nachos. We had a reservation for 4:30 for a party of 9, which was made 2 months ago. A few days prior, we were called to tell us that the Grinch would be there, but that we were fine to stay. When we arrived we were told that we had to be out by 5:30. We came to town for my kids College family weekend. My wife found this place and it looked cool. The service was the best part of the trip, and the only reason we gave it a single star. Katie was super nice and really helpful. But.. the food. I wish I could tell you how the wings were, but we simply refused for the $16 price, which was the same as the shrimp appetizer. Hmmmm... chicken or shrimp? We ordered the pretzel, but the "cheese" was not cheese. It was something from my 8th grade science class. Not going well so far. The beer was good, the margaritas were just okay. The dinner was not good. Three of us ordered the burger, and it was a hockey puck. Waaaay overdone, and we ordered it medium rare to medium. they were all the same. Dry, bland, and overcooked. This would all be uneventful if it weren't for the price. Today was our first time here. I was excited to try it based on the positive reviews. As for the negative reviews, my opinion is the same. Incredibly expensive and definitely overpriced for what you get. I gave three stars for the taste of the food, but the up charges are a bit extreme. ($5 for salad instead of fries.) I did have an issue with my $20 cheeseburger. There was what appeared to be a 1/2 inch bone in it when I took a bite. I had eaten 1/2 the burger and did not want another, but the waiter took my whole plate away including my upcharged $3 onion rings. Someone came from the kitchen and said it was not a bone but a piece of gristle since they grind their own meat. I explained that the food tasted good, but it was an unpleasant surprise. And that was the end of it. No offer made of any sort of compensation for my experience. I'm not looking for a free meal, but even $5 off or a drink would've been a nice gesture. Additionally my plate was gone so I didn't get to finish my onion rings either. With the cost of the meal, for it not to be on point isn't acceptable. Love that this place is in downtown Pitman. Felt very strange to be drinking at a full bar in what was a dry town forever. It's at a great location and they've created a very nice atmosphere inside. The service was slow but I assume they are short staffed like everyone else right now so I'm not judging based on that. Hugely disappointed with the food here. The flatbread pizza was disgusting -- mushy and uncooked in the middle, charred and hard as a rock on the outsides. Nachos were gross and seemed to be made with very cheap ingredients. The cheese in particular was very low quality. Everything on the menu is very expensive. The drinks were fine, and again it was cool to be drinking at a bar in downtown Pitman. First time here. It was great. Derek was our server. He was wonderful. We asked a few questions and he knew the menu and even gave recommendations. He was very attentive. I always judge on how they make a dirty Martini, my favorite. It was awesome. One of the best I have had in a long time. I had the ribs. They were great. Very tender and just enough sauce. My husband gad the pickle chicken sandwich and onion rings. He loved it. I can't say enough about this place. It will definitely be added to our list of "go to" places!!! Gave Merryman's another visit. Hubby and I went to dinner on a Saturday night. The place was really hopping. People eating inside and outside. Service was great! They are so friendly there. We actually loved our food this time. I had a regular burger...delicious! Hubby had chicken noodle soup and a chicken cheesesteak. One of the best chicken noodle soups he's had. Been wanting to try Merryman's for a while and finally gave it a try. I hate to beat up on local pubs but this was a disappointment. The place is beautiful, nice atmosphere. The food missed the mark. Wings were dry and had no taste. Fries were so undercooked they fell apart when we tried to pick them up. had to eat them with a fork. Other items we ordered were average at best. I've had several dining experiences here. Ive long since stopped ordering food here after I was served spoiled shrimp but last month my meetup group was going here so I was talked into it. We were a party of 10 with reservations. I ordered the nachos which was actually good. The problem came when we were finishing up. The owner lady...anyone that goes here knows who I mean...came over and told us we had to go. What?? So help me God she said other people were waiting for our table and we had to go. Never in my life have I seen this and I'm in my 50's. Half of us got up started paying and while half of us were still there she started seating people, at our table, while we were still there. The people who she was trying to seat were even as mortified as we were. And be clear, we were not lolly gaggin killing time. We had just finished eating. It was just the rudest thing I've ever seen in my life at a restaurant and wouldn't believe it if didn't happen to me. All this for food that is mediocre at best. I will say the servers are always amazing, the bartender is good, it has a nice ambiance and it's nice just to sit at bar but never ever will I eat there again. Due to how close we are and the limited options for dining in our area we have been going to Merryman's on Main Street in Pitman. It is in an old bank but has plenty of outside dining. I don't know when Pitman stopped being a dry town so this is the first restaurant/bar in the town that we know of. The service is very good, the menu diverse and their beer selection includes local brews. I would have given 5 stars were it not for the high prices. We paid $17.00 for a flatbread pizza which did taste very good. The wings are $14 for 8 split wings, once again done very well and tasty but a bit pricey. My hope is that these prices are in effect to allow them to stay in business during the pandemic and employ people in a newer establishment but these prices may stop repeat customers. We have been there three times, we love the ambiance but paying center city prices in this area is tough. read more

We sat outside, greeted by a pleasant waiter, ordered the turkey club, it turns out it was lunch meat instead of roasted turkey like advertised. I picked at it because I was hungry, but did complain and got a credit for next visit. So next visit i used the credit on a burger and I have to say I didn't enjoy that either, burger was burnt and onions weren't carmalized. I will not be going back any time soon. Went there for lunch today with my wife and daughter. We were greeted warmly by the general manager and seated inside as we had requested. The building is a nicely renovated old bank building. It's very clean and there are large screens that had the Eagles game playing when we were there. But you want to know about the food and drinks. We ordered these sandwiches, all with french fries for a side: 1) pickle fried chicken 2) chicken Italiano (w/ sharp provolone & broccoli raab) 3) Cubano The first two were very good. My daughter liked her Cubano, but would try another item next time (ie, she liked it but did not love it). I had old bay fries with my sandwich. We all thought the fries were excellent. Perfectly crispy and hot! The drinks were very good! Not at all stingy on the alcohol. My wife loved her "autumn old fashion" drink and my daughter loved her "summer mule" drink. Our server, Emma, was great! She was friendly and attentive without being obtrusive. We were quite pleased with our lunch and plan to return in the near future. Merryman's Pub is a family friendly restaurant that doubles as a bar. Although many elements work together to provide an aesthetically appealing drinking experience, this pub ultimately falls short when it comes to its cuisine. It is a beautiful establishment that showcases the artistic eye of the two owners, Bill Merryman and Vito Mannino. Opening at the height of the pandemic, it has persevered and grown to be a popular and lively location. Though it used to be home to the Pitman National Bank, it was renovated into a glamorous pub, with cathedral-like ceilings and a spacious interior that houses around twenty tables and a bar. Despite it having very grand architecture with ceiling-high windows and intricate details carved within the stone walls surrounding them, there are photos, signs, and televisions lining the wall closest to the bar that allow it to maintain the traditional pub feel. The interior is very well-lit and the music is at a comfortable and enjoyable level. A beautiful Christmas tree is set in the interior during the Holiday season, and garland is lining the front desk, giving this restaurant a feeling of home. If it were judged solely on the basis of aesthetics and ambiance, Merryman's Pub exceeds the expectations of many, including myself. Upon arriving at this Pub, the service is incredibly fast. Though it is often busy, customers are seated very quickly and instantly given water in a charming mason jar. The servers are quite knowledgeable of the menu and are prepared to give various recommendations and more information when asked. Throughout the night, my server checked in six times, and he as well as the other servers seemed to genuinely care about the customers' needs and enjoyment. The menu consists primarily of American cuisine, including various Americanized dishes from other cultures as well such as Asian style sticky ribs ($18), and Italiano chicken cutlet ($17). There is also a variety of alcoholic beverages, ranging from draft beers to margaritas and wine, as well as various specials. Though quite a few of the appetizers were sampled, the one that stood out the most was the onion rings ($13). Six beautifully golden brown onion rings arrived strewn about in a basket, placed aside a plastic container filled with Thousand Island salad dressing. Some were broken apart, and upon taking a bite, my taste buds were left looking for more. The batter did not have the typical sweet and oily taste that I had grown accustomed to onion rings having, and dipping it in the salad dressing helped very little. The portion size was slightly disappointing, but able to be overcome, however the lack of flavor did not make this appetizer worth the price. One of the more popular main course options is the flatbread white pizza ($19) that arrived just in time after finishing the appetizer. It is placed on a raised dish, leaving space on the table for the many mason jars and plates that had begun to accumulate. Resting atop each of the four squares of pizza was a beautiful array of tomatoes, spinach leaves, mozzarella, shaved parmesan, and pesto, giving it a delicious appearance that invited customers to dig in. The strongest element of the flatbread pizza was the pesto that was used in the making of it, but overall the taste was underwhelming. I was beginning to sense some consistency among the dishes I had been served, but I chose to keep an open mind for dessert, which did not disappoint. Though I was advised that if I wanted ice cream, I should make my way down the street to a different establishment, I wanted to finish my journey at Merryman's Pub and give it an opportunity to redeem itself. The dessert option of the chocolate mountain cake ($10) certainly made this trip worth its while. With thick chocolate fudge icing and deliciously sweet chocolate chips surrounding it, this dish truly is a dessert-lover's dream. It came with whipped cream on the side which could be mistaken for ice cream, but it did add to the presentation and make the dish visually appealing. Though the price does not seem worth it for a single slice of cake, I was content with the size and taste and felt that the quality was worth it. Merryman's Pub excels in its overall atmosphere, service, and setting. However, its cuisine could see improvement. It appears to prioritize speed at the expense of quality, and this is something that can be expected of a bar, but not one that doubles as a family restaurant. Ultimately, I would pay another visit for the experience and the environment, but not for its meals. read more

The chicken was so small, the cheese wasn't even melted on it. The sandwich had no flavor. The French fries were cold and sub par diner fries.
