My brother ordered Tongkatsu. Just had that couple days ago. He likes it. Service was a little slow, but the restaurant was crowded. The place was clean. Typical Japanese decor but tastefully done. PLUS I noticed that they had this sign that said they do not use peanuts. So that's a big win for us as we have a kiddo with peanut allergy.

I placed my order online and it was ready at the estimated time. My bill came up to $34 total, but these are specialty burgers so it makes sense. I would totally recommend this to a friend. And looking forward to trying other items on their menu.

I actually liked how they offered their rice in a separate bowl, and everything else on one plate... which means the meat almost covered my whole plate! By the way, my friend got their grilled pork chop rice dish, and the meat also almost completely covered his plate. Both our meats were marinated so well and held in so much flavor, and came off their bones easily. We both agreed the grilled beef short rib dish I ordered was the winner because of the bolder and more defined marinated taste of the meat. I've tried so many Vietnamese restaurants and almost exclusively get their beef short ribs rice on the first visits of them, but this is the first time I've seen meat portions this huge for a rice dish. I'm thinking of coming back here for another visit even if I have to deal with the tight parking plaza this place is close to.

Square Lotus offers an extensive choice of dishes. This visit we ordered the tropical fresh rolls and the pork on skewers, along with banh xeo The banh xeo was really nice and crispy. The only 2 drawbacks. for me was ... instead of pork belly, they use chicken, i think white meat cause the meat is very dry. The second is they don't offer a lot of fresh herbs with this dish. Just some cilantro and one small branch of Thai basil Next time i order this i will definitely ask for pork belly instead of chicken in my banh xeo. Definitely recommend you trying this restaurant. I haven't done many Shabu Shabu places, but this one is a bit different since you get a set of vegetables and meat rather than ordering multiple rounds. The quality of the meat and vegetables, in my opinion, was much higher compared to those places where you're able to get multiple rounds of meat or select your own vegetables/sides. The broth (I had kombu) was pretty light, so it wasn't the best. The service was pretty friendly and the only fault to them was they didn't come around to refill our pots with hot water. I enjoyed dinner here and would definitely come back again. The quality of the food, the calm restaurant atmosphere, and the polite staff made it an enjoyable experience.

Tha takoyaki was pretty good but if it memory serves I believe it was over $10. It wasn't too mushy and it was well-flavored. The salad was worth its price. It was very small. The dressing was pretty good, not too overpowering of sesame. The crunchy tuna rice was really good (I really like crunchy rice) but it felt over priced. This could honestly be made at home. The shabu shabu was very impressive. I got the sukiyaki shabu shabu, which I think had the most flavor out of the ones my family got (spicy miso and original). The ponzu and nut sauce that comes with the dish is delicious as always, and the meat was really fun to cook. If you don't know, it is called "Shabu shabu" because you swipe the meat back and forth and by the time u finish talking it's cooked! We got the Americans wagyu, beef, park belly, and pork. Everything was well made, fresh, and beautifully presented (the pork belly had a rose made out of meat!) Overall it was good. It's a fun experience. And hot pot type meals are usually expensive, but nothing quite tops MalaTang.

The waiters were polite and lenient with my preferences and gave excellent service, no complaints there. I came in on a Tuesday or Wednesday at 2:00 ish by myself, so it wasn't crowded. I can't say for weekends but judging by other reviews the waitlist can take a while (not sure if it's different if you come on a weekend but by yourself). There were some people there hanging out over ramen and some people working on their laptops, so it was the perfect environment to get work done (not sure if wifi is free though) and/or chat with friends without having to raise your voice. Overall I rate four stars; good food, good service, and an okay drink. I packed up the broth for home and mixed the leftover with instant ramen, it was delicious!

There's something both warm and elegant -- welcoming -- about the interior decor. Kept looking at the murals and Wood wall art while waiting to be seated. Everything was fantastic except my friend left a special present that she received from me behind accidentally. Update: we called staff and with great thoroughness they even checked and confirmed that we had actually left with the gift box, and with that we were able to confirm that we would have left it at the next venue we went to for dessert. With relief we found it and grateful to Alan for reaching out and letting us know so we could continue our search more fruitfully. Such an excellent experience with the staff at this store.
