Chicken Karaage
Mariah K.

Food was super delicious!! They look like they have a great happy hour. I had the chicken Karaage (OMG DELISH) and the salmon roll.

Came here to celebrate two birthdays (July 11), and upon being seated, we immediately noticed the restaurant was exceptionally warm. We asked our server if something was wrong since the AC didn't seem to be working, and behold, she answered yes--they were having AC issues! Thank goodness it wasn't a typical Texas triple-digit day outside. I started with a neat pour of Suntory (whisky), followed by a refreshing lychee martini, the cucumber sunomono, and the pan-seared duck breast for my main dish. We finished off the night sharing the matcha crème brûlée. The food and drinks themselves were great. However, service was a bit slow overall; I had to ask for the status of my main dish and had to flag our server down when we wanted another round of drinks. Decent ambiance considering the circumstances, but I guess this was just their "off night."

Some of the cheapest sushi you can get in Austin if you come during happy hour: $10 rolls which are interesting and classy. The scallop roll with truffle is insane and can't be missed. I thought the chirachi roll could have been good if it was made with rice, but I found the cucumber wrap distracting. But no matter, still a great deal and I'll definitely be back to try the other maki.

Absolutely incredible experience and food. Our waiter Jackson was so incredible and gave us the best recommendations. He explained the menu to us and tailored his recs to what we were craving. The sushi was so incredible - some of the best I have had in forever. The atmosphere is so cute and perfect for a date night. Dark and moody and great lower volume. So cozy and i would make an effort to come back here.

Went back to tenten and had an incredible time with the girls. We wanted to go find a happy hour but none of the girls could make it before six which is when all Happy hours are over so we have to get creative and figure 1010 on a Tuesday is the perfect spot to be because they have $10 rolls all night. I've been here recently and really enjoyed the Hamachi and the spicy tuna, however, this time around they both felt a little too fishy. They're to roll on the other hand was absolutely mind blowing and did not disappoint. Everybody's absolutely favorite role though was the truffle scallop. It was creamy. It was velvety. It was clean and such a burst of flavor without overwhelming your taste buds too much. Overall, a very good time great service and as always, great food

$10 sushi rolls on Tuesdays - yes please! This was my first visit there even though many people have recommended it to me over the last year. We decided to do a girls night here for sushi and drinks, and had a great time and delicious meal! We arrived right before happy hour ended and got discounted cocktails. We also ordered edamame before happy hour ended. We ordered a bunch of rolls to share, and each one was so good! Such a great deal on Tuesdays! Our favorite was definitely with the negi toro (ginger, pickled radish and mint). I also really loved the scallop with truffle and yuzu! We loved trying to many different rolls, and I can't wait to go back! 5 stars!

Had a nice experience here. The atmosphere was lovely, the food was excellent and well worth the price, and I especially enjoyed the karaage, edamame, and even the delicious cucumber water. Service was great at first, though it became slightly harder to get our server's attention toward the end. Still, it didn't detract from the experience, I'd come back!

Rating: 3.8/5 [dine in] Honestly an overpriced Japanese restaurant, and there are much better places in Austin. The small tapas-style plates for sharing add up quickly. We visited during happy hour with friends and also returned on a separate date night at regular pricing. Service is good and the ambiance is nice, but the food was just okay. I prefer Uchi or Uchiko over Tenten. The cocktails are also hit or miss. If you want to try this place, definitely go during happy hour. During happy hour, we tried the Hamachi, King Salmon, Spicy Tuna, Negi Toro, and Scallop Makis ($10 HH), and the King Salmon was my favorite. Kyoto Blush ($10 HH): A very sweet cocktail that tastes like it has no alcohol in it. Fig Old Fashioned ($10): Better than the Kyoto Blush and not overpowering. Sake Flight ($12): Comes with three 2 oz pours to sample - Nihon Sakari, Kiku Masamune, and Shiokawa Yamahai 'Cowboy'. I'm not a sake person, but think this is a great flight for beginners or for introducing someone to sake. Charred Edamame ($8 HH): I didn't get to try it, but the whole table loved it. Chicken Karaage ($8 HH): Good and worth ordering as an appetizer. Goto's Sakura Martini ($17): Tastes almost like straight alcohol with nothing sweet or floral about it. I could not get through more than a few sips. Yuzu Picanta ($17): Tequila, sake, pineapple, and yuzu. This tasted much better than the Goto's Sakura Martini. Daikon Pork Belly ($14): Interesting and worth trying. The daikon balances out the richness of the pork belly nicely. Wagyu Taco (2 for $24): Tiny, and reminded me of Toca Madera. Miso Roasted Beets ($14): One of their seasonal specials. Good, but not as amazing as our waitress made it out to be. My husband also had the A5 Wagyu Nigiri ($14), Uni Santa Barbara Nigiri ($11), Bluefin O-toro Nigiri ($12), Salmon Toro Nigiri ($5.50), and Hamachi Carpaccio ($28).

Sandos
Gina R.

We had a fantastic night and savored every dish that was served. To our lucky surprise we came during happy hour, so we ordered many things off of the happy hour menu. Both of the sandos were perfect. The wagyu beef sando had a little bit more flavor but it was slight and both are worth trying. Every roll was enjoyable and I felt like each had a little twist that really made the flavors explosive, like a shaved onion or a crispy puff on the side of the roll. The service was stellar and they were easy to book on OpenTable I also tried the green tea mocktail and found it to be light and refreshing and I was happy that it wasn't super sweet My two favorite items were: 1. The Edamame - which were charred in a way that I feel like I've never experienced it before and had such great flavor. 2. The scallop roll had a thinly sliced shaved truffle on top that made the roll simple yet out of this world. Shout out to the manager who came by just to check in. I always think that is such a sweet gesture.

We recently came here for our friend's birthday dinner event, and I was blown away by the indoor ambiance! It's an overall dimly lit restaurant with some unique lighting in different parts of the area. They have this terrestrial wall (made up of rocks and greenery) that was particularly impressive and beautiful! Our waiter provided incredible service, and even surprised our group with a generous amount of paloma shots for the birthday occasion! As for the food: (1) Chicken Karaage: Probably one of my favorite dishes of the night! The combination of togarashi kewpie and nori honey went very well with the fried chicken pieces. (2) Brussels Sprouts: Nicely charred with a generous amount of sauce, which was both tangy and had a little spicy aftertaste. (3) Spicy Tuna Maki Roll: My least favorite of the night because overall it did not stand out to me, and I personally didn't enjoy the bits of quinoa on the roll as much as I wish I did. (4) King Salmon Maki Roll: My personal favorite roll of the night. The chili garlic sauce complimented well with the rest of the ingredients. (5): A5 Wagyu Maki Roll: I enjoyed the overall combination of the flavors, but I wish the onion topping was a bit more infused with the dish and that the wagyu was more medium rare.

Sushi toro and otoro

Lovely spot for date night. We got: -hamachi crudo (truffle on top was great - definitely an interesting take) -wagyu roll -salmon toro (my fav) -otoro (great size) -madai -sake -chicken karaage (fried, light flavor, good mayo) While it leans a little more pricy than other establishments in this category, it's well worth it for the service and quality of fish. I really need to comeback for their true wagyu steaks! The roll just gave me a little hint of it.

Wagyu Sando ($24)
Wendi K.

4.5 Stars Beautiful stylish sexy interior, a solid Happy Hour, and high quality Japanese fare. HH - Drinks are $10, Maki are $10, and small bites are $8. The Edamame ($8), Karaage ($8), & cucumber salad ($8) were fine, but didn't blow me away. The Wagyu Sando ($24) - omg, this was so rich and juicy. We split it between 4 people and even that was a lot. The chirashi Maki ($10) was fresh and beautiful, and the Yuzu Scallop ($10) was zingy and heavy on the truffle. Overall, it was a wonderful time. Staff were super nice :)

Scallop maki

Tenten has one of my favorite sushi happy hours in Austin, and I keep coming back for a few specific menu items. My favorite maki rolls are the scallop chirashi and the A5, but the scallop maki is the one I crave most--it's so good. Their lychee martini is also delicious and not overly sweet. The Kyoto Blush, on the other hand, was far too sweet for me, so I wouldn't order that one again. I've tried a few other dishes as well. The wagyu sando wasn't quite what I expected, since the meat had more of a patty-like texture that I didn't think paired especially well with the milk bread. The wagyu donburi had a nice layer of crispy rice at the bottom after mixing, but there were too many sour and pickled components, which threw off the balance of the dish a little. Overall, Tenten is a solid spot, especially once you know which menu items you like. Service can be a bit hit or miss, but nothing bad enough to keep me from coming back.

Is there a bar area that is good for someone dining alone?

Yes!

Hi Friends! Is this a good place to take my 26 year old son and his girlfriend for his birthday... for Happy Hour? Good dessert? Thanks in advance!

Yes! I think it's a great place for happy hour. Their happy menu hour consists of half off drinks, $6 small appetizers, $9 large appetizers, and $9 hand rolls which comes with two per order. They also have multiple options to choose from for dessert.

What time is Happy Hour?

Hi Tara, Happy hour is 4:30pm - 6:00pm Monday through Friday!

Do they have their own parking?

Once we walked through Manny's, we were greeted right away and since we had a reservation, we were seated promptly. Quick heads up: cell phones aren't allowed inside -- they take your phone and give you a key to a locker where it's stored for the night. The idea is to keep everyone present and engaged with each other instead of their screens (they do make exceptions for emergencies or on-call situations, at the business's discretion). I actually love the reasoning behind it, even though I wished I had my phone to snap pictures of the inside! The space itself is dark and moody with major art deco Miami vibes, like something out of the 80s-90s. Think pink velvet draped everywhere, a life-size taxidermy leopard in the middle of the bar, and flamingo sculptures scattered throughout. It's gorgeous. There's plenty of seating between the booths/couches and the bar, and they seat you according to your party size. We got a plush half-circle booth with a table that fit all of us perfectly -- great sightlines too, so everyone could see and talk to each other easily. Each table gets an assigned server, and ours was fantastic. We ordered cocktails along with the yuca fries, empanadas, and quesadillas -- all delicious. I can't remember the name of my cocktail, but it was pink, gin-based, and so good, served in a beautiful tall stem glass. Loved everything about this place and will absolutely be back next time I'm in town!

The guy at the front was very nice, but as soon as we get to the "receptionist" the entire narrative changed. She looked my girlfriend and I up and down and then proceeded to tap multiple times on her IPad. She then says, "you know it's 1:30? we close at 2. we only have standing room." She had the most miserable scowl on her face. My girlfriend and I were dressed very nicely (pants & jacket, and a dress), so I know this was not a outfit issue. I do not know what her issue was, but if you are tired and don't like staying up late, don't work in a bar. After saying that there was only standing room, I decided that I was not going to spend money in an establishment that speaks to people in such a disgusting way, so I proceeded to leave. One of the guys out front asked what was wrong and asked if he could buy us a drink, but at that point I decided that I would not spend a dime at this place. Just giving a heads up! Lady at the front is EXTREMELY rude. Looking at the other 1 star reviews, it looks like this place has a reputation for being discriminatory.
