Another reviewer described Tenant as a neighborhood gem and I think that sums it up perfectly. Elevated cuisine with a distinctly South Minneapolis vibe. Friendly service and rather generously sized portions given the 6 course dining journey. Stars of the show for the night I went were the hamachi (incredible flavor profile) and salmon toast.

Great dining experience with my husband tonight. The staff was so welcoming and personable. Small and intimate dining spot. The food was coursed wonderfully. Wine pairings were perfect. They did seem to rush people out pretty quickly at the end, but enjoyed our time overall!

Another amazing evening at Tenant. Both Cameron and Grisha were lovely and professional, offering top notch service and dining experience. The food was so good as always, and the ambiance maintains its warm, intimate and lively vibe. Started with a dirty martini at the bar with a very friendly and attentive bartender. 6 courses as usual- Salmon crudo with fresno peppers and salsa verde, tomato soup with pickled veggies and croutons, scallop garlic/parsley linguini, bison ravioli with kale, pork schnitzel with fennel slaw, chocolate pot de creme with graham crackers and toasty marshmallow. I brought my sister who was a first timer (and a foodie) and she was raving about it. 10/10 will return.

For some reason, I have a subconcious expection with prix fixe dinners that I'm not just going to eat an amazing meal, but that I'm going to get an *experience*. It's probably something I should bring up in therapy, but at least with Tenant that expectation was mostly met. The experience begins Next Door where your group can gather, grab a cocktail, and feel special because you're about to eat a fancy meal which means you're entitled to feeling snobby for the next 2ish hours. The restaurant itself is simple and I could see where it could feel crowded with a full house, but with only three groups in our time slot it felt intimate and relaxed which I really appreciated. The food was good. I wish I had more to write about it to be honest but my takeaway was that it was tasty but predictable. The salt level was a little much, by the time the pork course was served my pallate was a little blown and it could benefitted with the citrus burst may have benefitted from being between the ravioli and the pork instead of before dessert. I was also kind of disappointed that we didn't receive more of an explanation from the staff on each dish. Maybe it's annoying of me but they spent so much time planning, preparing, and plating the courses that I wanted to know the details and hear about their innovative techniques, interesting spice blends, odd flavor combos, or just general thoughts they may have had on the meals. Most of my party got the wine paring with the meal which I would recommend if you drink. I unfortunately can't at the moment although they were kind enough to offer a small bit of each for me to experience! That does bring me to another point - while I wasn't blown away by the food, their ability and willingness to accommodate different diets/allergies was SO appreciated. The pacing was pretty well done although the pork course was much larger than expected and it felt like we had to eat quickly in order to stay on track and not hold up the meal for everyone. Overall, it was a good experience with good food, good ambiance, and good service. Just wish I could call one of them great or outstanding. Maybe next time!

Wow we had such a spectacular time at Tenant. I had heard wonderful things, but we were so blown away. I will say it is a pricey place, but the food is spectacular. It's a set menu, and no a la carte service. You can get an optional wine pairing. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and fun. The vibe of the space makes you feel like you're at home, if your home was a real nice gastronomic kitchen. One small detail I noticed that I loved was that they're constantly picking out records to play. The staff themselves make the choices and are always jamming. It's stuff like that that makes you just instantly feel really at ease and comfortable in the space. We didn't sit at the counter and that was a bit more relaxed but we're looking to book a dinner by the counter soon!!

Just a wonderful neighborhood gem. A well curated mill-course prix fix dinner that largely fires on all cylinders. A couple quibbles here and there were dwarfed by the friendly staff, perfect pace and reasonable prices.

We came to Tenant to celebrate a friend's belated birthday & wow, it was amazing. The space itself is really cute, the service was fantastic, & the food!!! This was only my second coursed meal experience & I want for every dining experience to be like this. I had one decision to make: wine pairing or no wine? They were also super accommodating for my meatless diet, which I really appreciated. I would hands down recommend this spot for any & every celebration, since their menu changes seasonally. I can't wait for an excuse to come back!

We had a fantastic experience at Tenant! The six course meal was delightful - days later I'm still remembering the green sauce that had the perfect balance of vinegar and herb. We had the best halibut here - the only problem was wanting more. It was such a fun experience, the perfect mix of elegant and rustic with flavors that surprised and delighted. Love that the chefs deliver the courses - they really value and appreciated hearing how much we enjoyed. One suggestion: Would love to know more about the wine pairings and why the wines were chosen to pair with each course.

So sorry to write this ,I wanted to like this place but expectations fell short. Don't get me wrong they have a lot of potential but for a "course tasting menu " I was wishing for more So first off we got here half hour early and enjoyed a cocktail at their bar "Next door" this was really cute with bright murals of cherubs on the wall and the friendliest bartender I have seen in a while. Granted tiny menu but drinks tasted good but served in those weird Mexican glassware with the blue rim?! Not fancy glassware. She checks you in for your restaurant reservation Next off one of the chefs bring u back to your seat , we we were seated at the chefs counter for 6 and I liked how it was spaced out per couple . Great view of the kitchen and to watch the courses being prepared Next the 1st course was really delicious. I won't spoil the menu ,as it's not printed everything is a surprise. So I imagined that the next ones were going to be as good -now this is where I began to get disappointed So unfortunately they bring your dish and give a 5 second explanation of what it is - barely any interaction about the do ish is given. We did try the wine pairing which is 3 wines and I will say that they did give BIG pours ! Price was worth that but the next few dishes did not excite me at all. Again lackluster explanation and food quality just not by up to par - maybe I have higher standards I was just expecting more . They were presented very well asthetic wise but taste not amazing. I think for the price it is a decent night out but I'm unsure if I would try this place again, supposedly the menu changes seasonally It seems. like they want to be a fancy restaurant but then try to be too casual so they need to figure out though which direction they want to go in fancy or not seems more like a casual neighborhood local spot for some Parking is easy on the street, all the staff were nice and friendly I feel like if you asked them questions then they would engage with you more! Seemed a little strange for this type of concept of a restaurant

Fantastic experience at Tenant this evening! Stellar staff, thoughtful presentation, warm ambiance, excellent food - everything was well curated from start to finish! Thank you for an enjoyable night out, Tenant!

The service was amazing! Blown away by how friendly and welcoming all the staff was. Started at the bar for a cocktail-Great classic drinks with a little twist. We did the wine pairing with dinner, delicious wines. Dinner its self was very delicious but not mind blowing compared to other restaurants in the twin cities. Would definitely recommend!

Late post so the food option for their menu will be different, but it's the same concept. Cool cozy tasting menu experience. The space is small but it feels almost like you are in someone's home kitchen. It's an open kitchen layout. The vibes are if you had a few friends who decided to cook together and try out some fun recipes. Decent pricing for 6 course tasting menu. All the dishes are explained as they are served. Good experience! I opted out but they also have wine pairings available.

Tenant is my favorite restaurant. Before we were seated we had drinks at the side bar which were delicious and then they came to seat us all at once. Every single course had so much flavor and was plated so meticulously. Stand out favorites were the Crudo and the Rhubard dessert- but they change the menu seasonally. Six courses for $80 is a STEAL in my opinion. Definitely did not leave hungry like some course dinners. Another fun touch is that you can see everything that is going on in the kitchen AND the chefs are bringing the courses out to you. HIGHLY recommend!

What do people wear? Is it casual or can you dress up?

I would call it "elevated casual". Like nice jeans and a top would be fine, but dressing up would be okay too!

(As of 8/1/19) what is their current menu? It's not listed on their website

They change one course every week and may change items faster depending on feedback from dinners. That's why they have said they will not post their menu.

The service was genuinely friendly and pleasant throughout our visit, which went a long way. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the setting. I tried the NY Strip special, which was fine but nothing memorable - exactly what you'd expect, no more, no less. The oysters were disappointing for the price point; the quality just wasn't there. The mushroom bruschetta similarly underwhelmed - it felt like it was missing something to make it stand out. The bright spot? The drinks were solid and well-crafted. I wanted to rate this higher based on the atmosphere and service alone, but at the end of the day, the food has to deliver. With so many great options in Minneapolis, Nightingale needs to step up its culinary game to match its lovely setting. I'd consider returning for drinks, but probably not for dinner.

This place does get busy so definitely keep that in mind. Luckily I made reservations ahead of time so we had a table waiting for us, otherwise we would have been put on a waiting list since it's a small space. They put us in a corner booth which was nice and spacious enough for 4 people so I'd definitely recommend asking for a booth verse a table if you're planning to come with a larger group. The servers are all very friendly and helpful. I appreciated their attentiveness and sharing what they like best, especially for what's in season based on the time of year. The menu has quite a bit of variety too which is sometimes unexpected when you come to a pub-style location. For appetizers we got Onion Ring and Fried Pickles. They were both really good and served with dipping sauces. Definitely both shareable items so if you're in a group they'd be great options! My entree I chose the Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon served with lemon soy marinade, creamy cucumbers, and jasmine rice -- it was SO good!! I loved the creaminess of the cucumbers especially with the rice and than the lemon soy marinade was just a unique touch to the salmon. Toned the flavors down without overpowering acidity. And the salmon was so dreamy, a beautiful pink color that you just knew it wasn't a farm raised salmon. Plus the portion was very generous!! I'd definitely recommend the Alaskan Sockeye Salmon to anyone interested in visiting here. #eatwildsavewild The only negatives (which are more so just knowledge bombs for you): * Restaurant is VERY loud. It's hard to hear because it is one small room that everyone plus the bar is in. I wished I would have took a picture to show what I mean. Just know that if it's an intimate setting you're looking for this is not the place. So be prepared to talk loudly over the loudness and ask "excuse me?" or "repeat that" many times throughout your visit because you're not going to hear everything. * Timed eating. Because this place is a hit with limited seating, once you get a table and complete your meal/payment you'll kindly be asked to leave so that they can clean up and open the table to next in line. Totally get that and am not put off by this at all, but I could see how it could catch some folks off guard especially if you are out for a meal with folks you may not see frequently-- so just keep that in mind. This is not the place to sit and talk post meal. * Parking is limited. Be prepared to walk a few blocks as the road parking in front of the business is pretty limited especially with the other stores and restaurants in the area. Regardless of those few bullets I highly recommend folks visit George & The Dragon. It's a really cool spot and the food was great! Plus theirs a malt shop right next door that looks yummy too, so definitely worth visiting and getting malts after for dessert.

I have finally found a restaurant with a capital R. A restaurant with its own identity and spirit. Not like most restaurants that copy one another. Another admirable thing is that, within their identity, they remain true to themselves without resorting to generic menus, unlike many places that add something more common for fear of not being understood. This is not the case here. They maintain their personality, and for that I congratulate them. It would take pages to explain each dish, which I won't do since I invite my readers to personally visit this cozy and personalized restaurant with a spectacular range of dishes and flavors. Often one finds places with exaggerated flavors that are too over-the-top, spicy, or excessive. This is not the case here. Everything has absolute balance, down to the milligram--Google it. I sampled 12 dishes, each more delicious and more personalized than the last. Organizations like Michelin or James Beard should pay a visit and determine whether it deserves a star. I've already given it one... Not to mention the variety of drinks and wines. Many restaurants that claim to be high-end stick to Californian wines. I have nothing against wines from that state. But for connoisseurs, we know there are many more around the globe. I was amazed by the variety of spirits and the house-made cocktails. Now, the most important part for me: it was my first time there. But I felt as if I'd known them forever. I felt welcomed and treated with great hospitality. I said I was going to write just a little, but this place deserves so much more. Until next time...
