Wow, what an awesome coffee shop to stumble upon during our roadtrip! It was packed, but the workers were quick to take orders. I tried the matcha latte and I appreciate being asked if I'd like sweeter or not. The matcha itself was the perfect amount of bitterness and not diluted. A big highlight was the pastries, the lemon poppy seed pound cake was light and coffee cake donut had a delightfully soft bite to it. Highly suggest checking out Temple, parking might take a bit to find too!

I really enjoy Temple Coffee and have been to the majority of their locations. I came here years ago for a drink but stopped at the Davis location most recently to get some beans for gifts. Service was friendly and attentive. Seating definitely can be a challenge. There's a row of seating along the window and that was fully occupied on a late weekday morning.

This coffee shop is great. Convenient location in downtown, consistent quality, friendly service, and good buzz. Line can get long but it goes surprisingly quick. There's decent amount of space for students to bring their laptops...though I don't really know how you can get much studying done with all the commotion. Anyways...highly recommended!

16 oz. Matcha Latte (hot)

Perhaps one of the best matcha lattes you can get in Davis. I said it! The interior of the cafe is very modern and minimal, the furniture is very unique to the place, I love the plants. When you come to a cafe to do work, its nice to see unique touches and greenery. Its a very busy cafe, but I argue its the great work of the baristas on deck! Lattes that are coming out of a college town cafe are way better because the baristas just know our palettes and the integrity of making a drink. When I placed an order for my matcha, the baristas went straight to the rigorous whisking, and it takes legitimate arm strength to get frothy matcha. Its not for the weak. The seasonal drink items tell me that they are likely making their syrups in house. The pastry case looked amazing. Also since my drink was made to order the temperature was perfect. I had a great tasting experience. For students: since it is crowded it is a hit or miss whether you can find seating, let alone outlets. Wifi is available.

It was packed with a line out the door on a Sunday. When there is a line, they take your order while you're in line, before you reach the register. The inside was well lit with plenty of natural sunlight. While waiting in line, we tried the coffee sample they had available. The wonder blend was super fruity. I was surprised that coffee could even taste like that. I didn't like it but my boyfriend took a bag home. I got one of their specials at the moment. the Camp Crush - "fresh watermelon syrup, vibrantly paired with matcha and sparkling water". I didn't like it and didn't end up finishing it. My friend also tried it and didn't like it. There are a lot of pastries on display next to the register. You're bound to find something you like

I am a local mobile notary and I often have clients request to meet here. It's a great place, the staff is friendly and the table are well spaced for privacy! Next time you need a notary, skip the UPS store and call Eagle Eye Mobile Notary! #mobilenotary

Sencha Kyoto Green Tea

My husband is an espresso hound. We stopped in here when he was in need of a good shot of espresso. He was very impressed. He said the Dharma espresso is every bit as good as his favorite espresso at his favorite shop. I don't drink coffee but tea is for me!! I had a Sencha Kyoto green tea. Bonus points for it being loose leaf tea and they do not put it in a bag to steep. It was served in a lovely ceramic pot with a removable steeping basket. Their selection of goodies was pretty picked over but what they had looked good. They do have various coffee and tea accessories and lots of bags of coffee for sale. We come to Davis often. This will make it on our rotation of places to visit when we are in Davis. The service was efficient and friendly. The interior is bright and pleasant. Lots of students working on their laptops. It is lively and charming inside. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

16 oz. Matcha Latte and 16 oz. Chai Latte

My number one favorite cafe in all California. Pastries are delicious. The coffee, chai, and matcha are all perfect. Such a nice place to study, catch up with friends, or get a pick me up!

Clean, modern interior with SF vibes. Bench, counter, and table seating both indoors & out. Greeting people in line with a smile is always a great way to start customer engagement, and that's consistently the case here. The free sample of their newest (or fav) brew is also a nice touch while you're in line. The espresso is solid, perfect temperature, and served with a glass of sparkling (as it should always be). Lots of good looking pastries, but not much of a morning snack collection if you are looking for some protein. My vote for the best espresso spot in town.

Bear Claw

I came here around 7AM in the morning, and there were a couple of people inside doing some work/ drinking coffee. The barista was nice greeting me and grabbed my order before I headed to the register. I ended up getting a bear claw to eat and a matcha latte with oat milk. It was little bit pricey with me spending around $13. Bear Claw: This pastry was pretty solid. There was a nice flakiness to the pastry and the filling was not overly sweet. The pastry was a pretty solid bear claw. Matcha Latte (w/ Honey): The baristas brought the drink out to where I was sitting. The drink was more on the bitter side (which I enjoy), and I didn't taste too much of the sweetness. As I was finishing up my food, it got really busy with about 10+ people coming in and forming a line. This place can get really busy with limited seating to work/ study so be wary of that if you decide to come in. Nonetheless, it was a great place to enjoy my morning drink. I love to see this Davis staple continuing to thrive.

This is my second time visiting this spot. The first time I stopped in for an iced matcha and this time I tried an matcha latte with almond milk and a hint of sweetener. The matcha is quite nice and the atmosphere has a cool vibe. The first time I visited I had a cinnamon pastry and it was good. I hear earlier in the morning they have quite an assortment of delightful unique treats!

Visited on a Friday morning around 9 AM. It was a bit busy, but the line moved quickly--I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. The staff was kind and friendly, offering suggestions when asked, which I always appreciate when trying new spots. I ordered a chai tea latte and an almond croissant. The chai was delicious, though I should note it was only my second time trying chai. The almond croissant was just okay--not as buttery, flaky, or creamy as I had expected. Overall, I'd revisit for the drinks and try different pastries. This coffee shop has a spacious seating area (both indoor and outdoor) with plenty of tables and complimentary wifi, making it a great spot for studying or working.

The service was great and everyone was so sweet but my drink was very subpar :( I had high hopes as the color of the drink looked good but there was virtually no matcha or vanilla flavor. I only tasted the milk. However it would be a great study environment and I loved how quiet and serene it was.

Does Temple Coffee still have outdoor seating (patio) as of Aug 1 2022?

Doesn't seem like it.

Do they have pumpkin spice lattes in the fall?

No they do not. They don't typically do syrups in their drinks but I think you can ask for vanilla.

I'm excited to come back and try their other drinks (although the hojicha was so good I also need it again)! And it's such a convenient location - right by UCD campus.

When I went on a rainy and windy Saturday afternoon there were tons of college students studying and it was quiet inside and pretty much all the seats were filled. Their menu had normal coffee drinks and lattes such as Americano, cappuccino, mocha, jasmine and earl grey tea. They also had unique drinks such as miso caramel latte, pandan latte, matcha pandan latte, matcha and hojicha. In addition, they had a spring seasonal menu and their current specials were a mango matcha drink and passion fruit espresso drink with tonic water. I ordered the hojicha latte with oat milk with light sweetener and light ice. They had options of whole milk, almond, or oat milk for milk. The cashier told me light ice meant there was going to be more oat milk. It was $5.80 which is cheaper than most cafes for hojicha however the quality wasn't as great as other cafes I've been to. The hojicha latte lacked flavor and tasted oily and didn't have the nutty flavor I'm used to but I still finished it. They usually have two bathrooms and they only had one available and sometimes you had to wait in a line for 20 min since there was so many people in the cafe which is inconvenient. Hopefully, they have the other bathroom fixed soon. Overall, it's a nice cafe with nice ambiance and some unique drink selections but I was not satisfied with the hojicha latte as there was no flavor. At least the prices are lower than other cafes. Maybe another drink would have been better.

There is now a Tesla Supercharger so navigate to that instead of the cafe so that your Tesla preconditions while you enjoy your morning. They no longer support their own app and have turned the keys over to Square to create an account to make it easier to pay and reorder. The ready times you get in the app are later than it's usually ready so I recommend giving them 10-20 minutes lead time. Here's my rating of the variety of foods and drinks I've tried. Undertow - 8 - Fun twist on a cortado as the half and half is cold and they add a splash of vanilla. The hot espresso is carefully floated on top of the milk so that when you drink you feel the cold "underflow" of vanilla milk. Cortado- 8 - Small but powerful sip of espresso. I prefer it with half and half and a touch of sugar over Journey's method but it is a tasty sip. Lavender Latte - -10 - the best version of a lavender latte you'll ever have. Cherry Blossom Latte - 9 - The cherry syrup is very forward but blends nicely into the latte which gives it light finish. The coffee does get a touch lost so add an extra shot. Citrus Cocoa Latte - 9 - The orange syrup is prevalent throughout the drink but the cocoa starts to stand up more the last half of the drink. I don't prefer chocolate drinks but this doesn't taste like a mocha at all. Very well done Journey!!! Veggie n Egg Breakfast Wrap - 7 - Light and flavorful but needs some pop from another ingredient. I recommend using the Tapatio hit sauce to elevate it above our 7 rating for those that want some pop of flavor and can handle spice. Breakfast Hand Pie - 6 - The pastry wasn't crispy but it did have some crispy seeds on it to save the texture, a bit gummy for my liking. The filling was also creamy with more cheese than needed (and I love cheese). Although good, I wouldn't get it again because the flavor of the filling fell flat. First Class Wrap - 10 - If you can handle spice, the chipotle sauce is amazing amidst the variety of ingredients. This is my go-to and everybody I introduce it to gets it as well.
