I was visiting Davis and craving matcha, so I stopped by and ordered the Cloudy With a Chance of Matcha, from what looked like their seasonal menu. It was sooo good, 10/10! The original recipe does contain dairy/heavy cream, but they were able to make it with a non-dairy coconut option instead, which was great! It was very busy but the line went pretty fast. The girls working were also very friendly and efficient. If only I had this cafe where I lived, I would be here often!
I really enjoy Temple Coffee and have been to the majority of their locations. I came here years ago for a drink but stopped at the Davis location most recently to get some beans for gifts. Service was friendly and attentive. Seating definitely can be a challenge. There's a row of seating along the window and that was fully occupied on a late weekday morning.
Wow, what an awesome coffee shop to stumble upon during our roadtrip! It was packed, but the workers were quick to take orders. I tried the matcha latte and I appreciate being asked if I'd like sweeter or not. The matcha itself was the perfect amount of bitterness and not diluted. A big highlight was the pastries, the lemon poppy seed pound cake was light and coffee cake donut had a delightfully soft bite to it. Highly suggest checking out Temple, parking might take a bit to find too!
Perhaps one of the best matcha lattes you can get in Davis. I said it! The interior of the cafe is very modern and minimal, the furniture is very unique to the place, I love the plants. When you come to a cafe to do work, its nice to see unique touches and greenery. Its a very busy cafe, but I argue its the great work of the baristas on deck! Lattes that are coming out of a college town cafe are way better because the baristas just know our palettes and the integrity of making a drink. When I placed an order for my matcha, the baristas went straight to the rigorous whisking, and it takes legitimate arm strength to get frothy matcha. Its not for the weak. The seasonal drink items tell me that they are likely making their syrups in house. The pastry case looked amazing. Also since my drink was made to order the temperature was perfect. I had a great tasting experience. For students: since it is crowded it is a hit or miss whether you can find seating, let alone outlets. Wifi is available.
I found out there's also a Temple Roasted Coffee in Davis and decided to stop by for a latte and an onion croissant with bacon. The staff was very friendly, the coffee was great, and the croissant was delicious. The atmosphere is also really nice. Since it's located on a university campus, there are a lot of busy students around, but it doesn't take away from the experience at all, you can still relax and enjoy your coffee and food. Make sure to leave a tip at places like this, the service is excellent, and even something small like 50 cents is appreciated. Thanks, Temple Roasted Coffee!
It was packed with a line out the door on a Sunday. When there is a line, they take your order while you're in line, before you reach the register. The inside was well lit with plenty of natural sunlight. While waiting in line, we tried the coffee sample they had available. The wonder blend was super fruity. I was surprised that coffee could even taste like that. I didn't like it but my boyfriend took a bag home. I got one of their specials at the moment. the Camp Crush - "fresh watermelon syrup, vibrantly paired with matcha and sparkling water". I didn't like it and didn't end up finishing it. My friend also tried it and didn't like it. There are a lot of pastries on display next to the register. You're bound to find something you like

My husband is an espresso hound. We stopped in here when he was in need of a good shot of espresso. He was very impressed. He said the Dharma espresso is every bit as good as his favorite espresso at his favorite shop. I don't drink coffee but tea is for me!! I had a Sencha Kyoto green tea. Bonus points for it being loose leaf tea and they do not put it in a bag to steep. It was served in a lovely ceramic pot with a removable steeping basket. Their selection of goodies was pretty picked over but what they had looked good. They do have various coffee and tea accessories and lots of bags of coffee for sale. We come to Davis often. This will make it on our rotation of places to visit when we are in Davis. The service was efficient and friendly. The interior is bright and pleasant. Lots of students working on their laptops. It is lively and charming inside. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit.
Clean, modern interior with SF vibes. Bench, counter, and table seating both indoors & out. Greeting people in line with a smile is always a great way to start customer engagement, and that's consistently the case here. The free sample of their newest (or fav) brew is also a nice touch while you're in line. The espresso is solid, perfect temperature, and served with a glass of sparkling (as it should always be). Lots of good looking pastries, but not much of a morning snack collection if you are looking for some protein. My vote for the best espresso spot in town.
My number one favorite cafe in all California. Pastries are delicious. The coffee, chai, and matcha are all perfect. Such a nice place to study, catch up with friends, or get a pick me up!
This coffee shop is great. Convenient location in downtown, consistent quality, friendly service, and good buzz. Line can get long but it goes surprisingly quick. There's decent amount of space for students to bring their laptops...though I don't really know how you can get much studying done with all the commotion. Anyways...highly recommended!

I came here around 7AM in the morning, and there were a couple of people inside doing some work/ drinking coffee. The barista was nice greeting me and grabbed my order before I headed to the register. I ended up getting a bear claw to eat and a matcha latte with oat milk. It was little bit pricey with me spending around $13. Bear Claw: This pastry was pretty solid. There was a nice flakiness to the pastry and the filling was not overly sweet. The pastry was a pretty solid bear claw. Matcha Latte (w/ Honey): The baristas brought the drink out to where I was sitting. The drink was more on the bitter side (which I enjoy), and I didn't taste too much of the sweetness. As I was finishing up my food, it got really busy with about 10+ people coming in and forming a line. This place can get really busy with limited seating to work/ study so be wary of that if you decide to come in. Nonetheless, it was a great place to enjoy my morning drink. I love to see this Davis staple continuing to thrive.

Came in on a summer Monday afternoon right after having lunch. Shop was sprinkled with people doing work on their laptops. We were able to order right away and our orders were made immediately. Got an Enlightenment and a Iced Latte. Latte was standard and good. The Enlightenment, however, was so, so delicious. Even in over 100 degree weather we were glad we ordered it. Davis--like other university towns--has a disproportionate number of places to drown yourself in caffeine, and although annoyingly trendy, Temple is one of the best places to do so. Have stopped by here a few times when passing through, and it never disappoints. On my most recent trip I got a pour over, which was crisp and bright. Though the line may seem daunting, it moves fairly quickly and you can peruse the many bean varieties/roasts while laughing to yourself about how the tasters come up with such ridiculous tasting note descriptions (yes, cherry, oak, and vanilla all over again. I like to come here so many times every time I am visiting Davis. My to go to drink here is the Matcha Green Tea Latte. You can let them know to sweeten it or not to. When you walk in, their merchandise is in the front. If you have their cup, you can show it - but due to COVID they are not doing the refills in that, but you can get the discount. Pastries are towards the end when you are paying at the register. Friendly staff, and usually not long of a wait for the drinks. It's kind of A you go down the line while maintain the 6 ft distance. Had iced green tea and a croissant for breakfast before meeting up with my friend. Great weather and outdoor seating along with my drink and food made for a very nice morning. There is seating inside more for individuals (long community and window bar areas). Outside table (two top) on the sidewalk and picnic tables under outdoor large pop ups to offer shade as well as extended space. Being early, I was able to easily find parking close by. But be warned. This is downtown of a college town. Parking goes fast. On the good side, this area is very walkable so parking further is not necessarily an unpleasant thing. read more

This is a great choice for a COVID safe cafe, with plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. Though it was a bit busy in the morning, their employee's quick service kept the line moving. The interior was very clean and modern feeling, and seemed like a great place to study or work once that is more common again. The chocolate croissant was not very flakey and could have benefitted from being warmed up, so I wouldn't suggest getting it. BUT their coffee is another story. The almond milk latte was really smooth with a good balance of coffee and milk. The Mexican mocha was rich with a strong enough coffee flavor that it didn't just become a hot chocolate. The Wonderblend pour-over didn't have any bitterness or acidity, but still tasted pretty strong. I would highly recommend trying any of these drinks. Their presentation is also so dope! The classic latte art and fancy serving display for the pour-over is *chefs kiss*. Get your phones ready for a coffee shop photo shoot! read more

Temple offers a space for studying or socializing. Inside is usually pretty quiet with nothing but the sound of students furiously typing away, while outside is a different story, there are couples as well as large groups having great conversations on the cute patio area. I brought my friend here who is a huge coffee snob and she loved the atmosphere and her drink. The baristas here are really friendly too, since she was from out of town she took a moment to review the menu and the barista even gave her some good suggestions based on her usual preferences. There are plenty of coffee shops around Davis but Temple never disappoints. read more

Wow! This is a great coffee shop. The line was super long but they still got us through really quickly. They took our order while in line as we approached the coffee bar. I got a Costa Rica pour over that was delicious, as well as a sample of their Ethiopian pour over. My wife got a chamomile tea. Hers was delicious as well. We also had a couple of pumpkin muffins that were plant based. The muffins were so good. Over all the atmosphere was great, brightly lit, lots of seating, and conversations going... just like I'd expect at a coffee shop. I will definitely be back next time I'm out here. read more

Overall: 8/10 After hearing high praise for Temple Coffee, I decided to try it as I was in town and in desperate need of a good study spot (and a matcha latte). The ambiance was serene and there is perfect lighting inside, which are the two hallmarks of a top tier study spot. There is ample seating, which is a plus. We ordered the matcha latte with oat milk (9/10), the chai latte with oat milk (5/10) and the lemon poppy seed bread (7/10). The matcha latte is one of the best I have ever had, and I will definitely be ordering it again if I ever visit Davis again! The chai latte on the other hand was subpar and too watered down, steer clear of it. The lemon poppy seed loaf is a great snack, although the lemon taste was a little overwhelming. Overall, I loved temple coffee as a study/hangout spot and would highly recommend the matcha latte! read more

Stopped by here for the first time and was surprised they're open on Christmas Eve and will be open tomorrow on Christmas Day as well! I'm not from Davis, but I will be coming back to this location next time I visit. This is what I thought from the moment I stepped in: 1) The atmosphere is clean and inviting! Perfect place to study or catch up with a friend. 2) The barista who helped me was so friendly, kind, helpful, and patient. They seem like they treat other staff respectfully too. 3) The coffee bean selection is fun to read through. 4) Not only did the iced latte and the hot matcha latte look so pretty, they both taste really good and balanced. 5) Dogs are allowed in the store! Great environment for studying or getting work done. Many outdoor seatings available, interior gets busy and could be hard to find open space. Ginger foam cold brew- Seasonal drink, highly recommend! Ginger is quite strong and gives a nice kick to the drink. Cold brew is so smooth. Great combination, because the ginger warms you up even though the drink is cold! It is a 'warming' cold brew for the winter months! Street parking only, but still not too bad. Staff are so friendly and genuinely want you to have a great experience. This place has such amazing ambience and such nice drinks! I do think if you're coming to study here though it may not be the best choice. There are not that many outlets available and the bar tables on the windows are shallow. The tables in the center are deeper and grant more space but facing away from natural light. Another day, another temple iced latte! Back to do some work and get some coffee. This location near the UCD campus was definitely much busier and had less open seating. The bar seating is narrow, but still plenty of space for my laptop. I actually liked the iced latte better today, it might be because they added honey (free) and I like my lattes on the sweeter side. There's only street parking and luckily we got a spot, but it looked pretty crowded. read more

I remember when I was a student and this Temple first opened in Davis and it was all the rave for its trendy interior and artisanal coffee blends. Yes, the coffee is top-notch, though a few drawbacks to other elements of the cafe: - Uncomfortable seating. The stools are not comfortable at all if you intend on staying for long periods (which is most often the case as it's a college town and students come here to study!) - The pricing is of course way up there as it is a Temple. A normal latte will place you at around 5 bucks or more. The pastries are also outrageously priced, at around $4 or $5 each depending on what you get. - The seating availability is always hit or miss, as it is again a college town and the cafes will get swarmed over especially by 11:00am on a weekend. Plan to get there early or late in the evening if you want a seat! read more

I used to study here at least twice a week when I went to UC Davis. I graduated in 2016 and I STILL insist on coming here when we visit. I always ordered the Enlightenment or cappuccino, but I tried their season ginger snap latte this time and it was so good. Their service is fast and their long lines go by quickly. Never met a sour face there, they're all really friendly and give great recommendations. Will of course be back to work from here or just read! read more
