My Son and went to Tempe Eats for Fish Pop. There ae around 6 hawker stations inn the building. New experience for us. They service was on point! We sat at the bar. Was introduced to beer service to the beer wall. You get a separate charge card for the beer wall. Choose your beer. A little spend. Then we ordered from Pop Fish. I got the spicy and my Son got the traditional. Both were excellent. Fries were great. Don't know about the other spots featured in this place, but what we had was worth another trip! read more

Here we sat for a few minutes while we waited for our food and we ran inside once we saw a table open up. The workers we interacted with all friendly and helpful. The inside was a bit too warm. We had been wanting to give this place a try for some time now, and was going to go last Wednesday, but they were closing in 20 minutes of our arrival, but I guess we dodged that bullet. From the moment we walked into Tempe Eats, I knew I was in for something special. The ambiance was a perfect blend of cozy and chic -- warm lighting, modern touches, and music that set just the right vibe. Untillll.... Great Ambiance, but the Food? Whew, Chile... No. My husband and I visited Tempe Eats in Tempe, AZ for a date night after seeing it featured on Fox 10. We were excited by the cool concept of multiple restaurants under one roof and loved the modern setup, chill music, and friendly vibes from one of the staff members (wish we had caught her name!). Unfortunately, everything else was a major letdown -- starting with the food. I ordered from Chikpop: the OG Sando sandwich (crispy chicken thigh with OG rub, house slaw, and pink sauce on a brioche bun with fries). I took one bite and had to spit it out -- my chicken was undercooked, visibly red with a bit of blood, and totally unappetizing. The sandwich was overly battered, lacked flavor, and the fries? Honestly, my 2-year-old niece wouldn't touch them. Hate to say it, but even McDonald's or Chick-fil-A easily outshines this. After tossing that, I tried to salvage the night by ordering a Teriyaki Chicken Bowl from Yogis Grill. Again -- some of the chicken was pink. At that point, my appetite completely vanished. My husband ordered fish and chips from Fishpop, which he had high hopes for since it aired on the news. He's pescatarian and was excited to try it... but even he said it was disappointing and bland. We also got cauliflower buffalo wings from Fork OFF, which were just okay -- no seasoning, just battered cauliflower tossed in buffalo sauce. To top it off, we ordered two fountain drinks and a Heineken Zero -- only to be told at the very end that they were out of it. When we declined a replacement (since there were no other non-alcoholic options), we were asked how we wanted to pay for a mocktail instead... what? Pros: * The ambiance is great. * Music was on point. * One friendly staff member made us feel welcomed. Cons: * Undercooked food from multiple vendors. * Poor quality fries and seasoning. * A foul sewer-like smell near the drink station. * Lack of professionalism around beverage substitution. * Not ideal for date night or honestly, any night. And by the way after 45 min to an hour your cup will get soggy like a paper straw. You'll have to ask for a new one if you're wanting to take your drink Togo! We really wanted to like this place, but the food safety issues and overall experience left us disappointed. Tempe Eats has potential, but quality control across its vendors needs serious work. I would give it a 1/10 because of the music and ambience. Oh and the bathrooms were very clean.. and I don't use public bathrooms unless it's an emergency, but I always look and see just to tell you all about it! read more

Concept is cool. Execution terrible. I've been to this place several times (thinking this might be the last time). I've given this place several chances, but when it takes an hour + to get our food (or never get your food in our case). No matter how good it is, it's just straight up ridiculous. It's never busy, today it was dead. The beverage wall is always out of things, the QR code doesn't always work well. Today the food ... BBQ.... What the heck does it take to make sliders??? Most of this looks frozen or premade. Why is it taking over an hour? Not one apology. And begrudgingly gave us a refund on the items that never showed up. A few other tables were having issues too... Overall experience was poor. Overpriced food, poor/no service. Strange dining room with no flow. You basically have to serve yourself, then they ask for 22% tip in their app. There is no wait staff. Management didn't offer an apology and didn't even come up to our table until my wife assumed it was him standing by the beer machine and waved him over. DIDNT EVEN SAY SORRY!! We were visiting from out of town, and a friend recommended we try this place. We were impressed with the modern setup and ambiance. Our kids loved the easy ordering process via QR code, especially since they could see pictures of what they were ordering. We were also given a paper menu, but I personally preferred the QR code option because it allowed me to see the pictures and pay online without waiting for the bill. We ordered a variety of dishes from different kitchens. The brisket was moist and flavorful, and my kids enjoyed watching their sushi rolls being made. The pork katsu was crunchy and delicious. I'm a big fan of elote, so I ordered two, and they were fantastic. We also tried a few alcoholic drinks from the bar, and my husband enjoyed experimenting with the beer wall, which was a unique experience. From the moment you enter the Klien easy to navigate food stalls are inviting and I can comment on the one thing. I did have this day first time the fish and was excellent not greasy British but more French style like and the peas were perfect crispy fries which you can order without salt hit the spot. Definitely meet KJ. The dog reader for me anyway and he explains the digital dine in menu when you sit at a table. Very helpful staff another woman who assist him was equally helpful. Came for lunch wife and I., ordered Margarita and a beer to drink and sushi, spicy fish. sushi and drinks come out in about 10 minutes, but you have to get your own beer if you would like to, so I did. wife ate the sushi and I had one piece as well waiting for the fish 20 minutes go by and ask the hostess/server about the fish. She said it takes about 25 mins. ok we would like to order the chicken empanadas, sure. Empanadas came in ten mins still no fish, I ask the manager about the fish, it takes time for it she replied, ok. The bartender saw that I was ready to leave so she brought a margarita over and said on the house, cool thank you. We ate all 3 of the empanadas and now the fish showed up 45 mins later, ate the fish and looked for the hostess/server to pay the bill and get out of there. By now I am frustrated and just want to leave. Got the check it had a 18% craft U service charge on it. Order spicy fish al they do is sprinkler a little bit of Cheyenne pepper or some other chile powder on it, goof thing they have some hot sauce in bottles for you. I was like you didn't pour the beer for me I poured the beer. To mad to care, wife said she will just pay it, ok lets pay and get out of here. Well the pay to tap machine asks if you would like to leave a tip what for you get your own beer and you pick up your food when they call your name and you bussing your own table. So $#@% no tip for you, you got 18% for me pouring my own beer, get my food, and bussing my table. ( I should have cooked my own fish also maybe it wouldn't taken so long ). Once we got outside I looked at the check because the wife had it and she paid, don't worry about it. It had the on the house margarita on the bill that the bartender said on the house. I wanted to go back in and tell them about it. But I was told not to do it by my wife lets just go and we will not come here again. Way over priced and you do most of the work!! Check was 83.00 for two people for lunch 3 food items and 2/3 drinks and we do most of the work. 12.00 service charge. This place is cool in theory, in all actuality a little... off. A friend and I decided to hang out here on a Friday night since it's relatively new and in-between where we both live. Expectations are that it would be lots of mini stands a la cafeteria style, but in all actuality, it's a restaurant with multiple menus. TBH the menus are a little overwhelming when you're presented with all of them at once. I get that during Arizona summer the hospitality industry suffers, but my hope is that if you're to have some fun promo nights, to make sure the host isn't overbearing. I walked in and it was fairly dead. Not a bad thing, except the karaoke was too loud, and once I sat down, the host would not leave me and eventually my friend alone. We tried to be nice declining the ask to sing, but it wasn't until my friend said we wouldn't be participating for the third time did it hit her with a bit more stern tone, and she left us alone. So besides the vibes and missed expectations, the food/drinks are ok. They have a beer wall, of which is operated by a pay as you drink swipe card. Fresh, cold glasses are available in a cooler next to the wall. The craft beer selection isn't bad, and there's a full bar if you want to go that route. Food wise, we tried a few things that we enjoyed and priced appropriately- Brussels sprouts, salmon nachos, tacos and wings. We both left undecided if it's worth a return trip-- just have to make sure it's a non-promo night. read more

This concept is super cool, but unfortunately, it's very poorly executed. I'm speaking from my experience as a food truck owner and years in the hospitality industry. If the food isn't incredible, then the execution must be flawless to encourage a return visit. We'll give this place a year to work out its kinks before we consider coming back. We visited on a Friday at 5:30 PM. This spot had been on our list to try for a while. Our first impression was that it lacked cohesion; nothing seemed to flow or look put together. The styling left much to be desired. The people next to us were waiting a long time for their to-go order, which they eventually found sitting on the counter. They left feeling frustrated, and rightfully so. As we waited, our food gradually started to come out. We ordered from multiple spots to try a variety of dishes. The corn fritters and empanadas were delicious, but the plating looked sad, and the sauce was messy. Then the yakisoba arrived. We ordered at our table, but the servers still struggled to figure out where the food was going. A sushi roll was dropped, and when we asked for soy sauce, we were given packets without a dish to mix the wasabi and soy sauce. After finishing our other dishes, we were still waiting on the tacos. When we checked on them, they casually mentioned, "Oh, do you still want those? We missed the ticket." We observed many frustrated customers around us as food was sent to the wrong tables, and others were yelling names at the front. My boyfriend and I went to try the hot honey sando chicken sandwich. The worker recommended we purchase a side of ranch. That most people get a ranch due to the chicken being spicy. So we added a ranch. In total with tax included for one order of the sandwich with fries was $19.95. Kinda pricey. But the piece of chicken is indeed pretty big. The fries were really crispy and yummy. The flavor of the sauce on the chicken was tasty! Not very spicy at all. The before and after picture speaks for itself! :) left a clean plate! Now I'm a bit tipsy and someone brings us a plate of ribs. Oh no, wrong table! It takes me a bit to realize that while I'd ordered short ribs, somehow that had gotten to be ribs. Eventually I'm brought what is to be "short rib" and oh my. I'm not sure what cut of beef this is or if it's even beef. It's definitely not short rib and it's not a cut of meat I've ever seen. It's very tough and coated in a very sweet sauce. The mashed potatoes on the menu with it were not with it, but would have been awful covered in that sweet sauce. The little vegetables were mostly spared the sauce so those were good. I know you may be wondering why I ordered short rib in such a place, but I love short rib and live close, so if it was good I'd be there a lot! And I did try to order a bunch of other things. Decided to try this place after seeing it on social media. Did not like the fact we had to get up and get our own drinks and whatever we needed. Our food was delivered but that was all. Ordering off our phones and food coming at different times. We all sat around looking at each other as one person ate and we just had to wait on our food. Very strange. Veggie bowl was tasteless. Hot honey chicken was double breaded with a thin slice of chicken. The chicken wings were fried too long with very little meat. I ordered the catfish and fries. I said "They don't have seasoning in the back." Everything had no taste. We killed everything with any kind of sauces we were given. I ordered three empanadas. Chicken, traditional beef, and spicy potato. I recieved one chicken and two potato empanadas. I DO NOT like eating with plastic utensils. Everything was plastic. I need plates and silverware. I didn't leave a tip because the only item brought to me was a plastic container of tasteless food. My son said "I feel like we have to go get something to eat after we leave here." This place was perfect for us! Going out as a family can be challenging because of our different taste preferences and wide age range of our kids-- elementary to college. We had the sushi, chicken wings, and birria taco. Everything was delicious, especially the consommé. I wanted to dip everything in it, so yummy. We also tried the chicken sandwich and fried fish--they were hot, crispy and flavorful. The chicken was juicy and had just the right amount of kick. The sports channels on the large screens = happy hubby. The beer wall selection is amazing! My husband is a beer drinker and I am not. I love it that they even have cocktail options on the wall for people like me. The house margarita was one of the best I've had. I did not expect that from a beer wall! Great concept, I was excited to try this place. The idea is that you can order small orders from lots of different types of cuisines and you can order dishes made for sharing with friends. The interior decor is great, really beautiful space and beautiful furniture. The wall of beer taps that are self serve is a cool idea. Both the food and the service need improvement. The employees are very friendly but overwhelmed, they need more servers. In my opinion, they should allow patrons to just order at each mini food stand and then bring the food back to their table or have the food delivered to their table. I think that would be better and faster than ordering from a server. The food was not great, especially considering the price. The wings were on the small side. The spicy California roll was better quality than grocery store sushi but can't say much else about it. I hope they can work out the kinks and improve the food because I think this place could be a really fun place to hang out with friends. read more

A cool concept with an extremely poor execution. I've been to similar places like this in LA or Chicago, but this is undoubtedly the worst. Charging pretty high prices for frozen tier food, it's pretty appalling how bad it is. The service is also not great. It's a confusing concept because it almost seems like you can go up and order like a food court or order on the app. They specifically told us to order through the servers, but they are not around very often. Multiple times we've had empty drink cups and had to seek them out to get refills. I tried their margherita pizza which has one of the worst doughs I've ever had at a restaurant. It's about as good as a frozen pizza. The dough is too tough, the tomato's aren't even peeled, the cheese isn't fresh. It's like a chef who only heard the ingredients of a margherita pizza that has never seen one in their life tried to make one. It's like doodle bob vs SpongeBob quality. It's actually a parody of a margherita pizza. The shrimp taco was pretty decent flavor wise, but it's so dry. The coleslaw (?) Is like just a salad with no dressing. There's so little chipotle cream that I thought I was drowning while eating it. It really makes you sympathize with the shrimp that is out of the water. The cheese is kind of weird imo but isn't terrible. I'd use a different kind of cheese or no cheese at all. The burgers are also so dry it's insane. They don't have much flavor and are a mess. The pictures show what a medium burger is here (hint: they couldn't be more overcooked even if you tried). There's no trace of pink at all on the patty. It's dry, tough, and flavorless. If this is wagyu, then every fast food place must also serve Kobe beef. Also it's like $16 for no fries? What an insane value proposition for something the chef(?) can't even cook properly. There are hardly any mushrooms on the mushroom and swiss, and the truffle oil doesn't come through at all. Pickles and raw onions on something like mushroom and swiss is strange and shows how thoughtless the menu is. The green Chile burger might as well be the mushroom and swiss because they taste so similar. I actually asked for ketchup on the side just so I could eat it, and I do not like ketchup on burgers I'm paying $14-16 for. Honestly one of the worst 'restaurants' I've ever been to service or food wise (the servers are friendly - just not around). It had high hopes from me with the concept, but all the food seems to come out of one kitchen with one guy who loves overcooking things and sending out dry food and calling it a day. I could microwave pizza better than this. Overall, wouldn't recommend even to my worst enemy. read more

Tempe Eats staff was top-tier friendly, fast, and genuinely invested in your experience. (PS ask for Destinee she is the most incredible server) While some of their vendors are independently owned (and the service at Chicken Pop in particular left much to be desired -- including a disappointing interaction with their self-proclaimed assistant manager), the Tempe Eats team went above and beyond to make things right. Their professionalism and responsiveness completely turned the situation around. This place has it all -- a killer lineup of food vendors, great drinks, happy hour specials, and a staff that truly cares. Don't sleep on this spot. It upsets me to give such a low review because the fish and chips from Fish Pop was excellent! However the problem came with the service from Fork Off. We ordered the birria tacos with corn tortillas. They came with a hair in them. - No big deal, it happens. So my husband returned the them and just asked for a remake. The guy, with shaggy hair in his eyes (hmm), brings over the tacos, puts them on the table and says "No hair." No apology or anything. I said "Oh thanks, but these are chicken and we ordered the birria." I didn't even mention the flour tortillas. He looks at me confused and asked if we were the ones with the hair in our tacos and I said yes but we ordered the birria tacos. He explained these aren't an order these are the ones they remade. We explained that that we understood that but the original order was for birria tacos. He takes them back, after much unnecessary confusion, and brings back another tray of tacos. 2 birria, one chicken. Flour tortillas. We just kept them. Perhaps better training in customer service and food running would go along way here. If there's a send back, before it goes back out, check the ticket, make sure it's accurate, get it to the table and apologize. Gentlemen that greeted us was so friendly and welcoming!
