How these people stay in business I have no idea. I was paying $130 a month for phone service, they said they would beat At&t price by $30. My first bill was $305 for an month, after countless hours on the phone the only thing I received were threats to shut the service off. Literally, it became a federal case. As they were holding my business phone # hostage. I contacted the FCC wrote multiple letters and after several months they finally relinquished and turned over my business phone number. They called my workplace and told me they were associated with AT&T (this is not true). I initially thought they were because the same day I had negotiated rates with AT&T to enter into another yearly contract, so I thought it was a call related to that. The representative sounded fishy because he was unprofessional when I started to question the company. Luckily I googled "Telplex scam" and found tons of bad reviews and warnings. They had information on my phone lines. I got all the way up to where they try to get you to verify consent to switch carriers. They will ask you to say yes to three questions in order to authorize them as a carrier on the account. DO NOT SAY "YES." I told him I didn't feel comfortable switching carriers and he tried to pressure me into it. He said that we were too deep in the process and could not turn around and that he didn't want me to get double billed. I told him you can't bill me for a service I have not agreed to or verified. He started to get really upset. He was very persistent and kept trying to get me to verify and consent to the service. I finally told him that I am going to have to end this conversation and he just hung up on me. Just to make sure they don't switch over my phone lines to this scam, I called AT&T and ordered a "pick freeze" on all of our phone lines. This action ensures that no carrier can transfer a phone line to their service without my permission. Like many others, I am sure glad and relieved I checked these reviews! It is best not to agree to anything over the phone that pertains to your phone lines. And if you need help, you should just call AT&T. Thanks to this company, I've made the decision to remove our landline phone. It's ridiculous to spend upwards of $65 a month, plus anytime we use long distance, the bill goes up to close to $100. They do nearly nothing to resolve an issue. We have to deal with their rudeness, laziness, and terrible attitude! I spoke with Rachel and Tony. I didn't even realize I was being charged by a different telecom company until I received a past due notice from Telplex. Not a regular bill, a non-itemized past due notice for over $300. These people called the office where I work and said they were calling from AT&T. I specifically asked if they were employees of AT&T- they answered yes. The alleged supervisor also got on the phone and told me that he was an employee of AT&T. They told me our rates would be cheaper than what we were currently paying to AT&T. Both the original woman that called me and her alleged supervisor told me that they are a part of a special department of AT&T that is reaching out to their small business customers because they are losing too many of their accounts to cable telephone. They said that they are offering all of their small business customers these reduced rates through AT&T. When we got the bill, it was from Telplex for $760 when we were used to paying $200! I told them that I didn't agree to a directory listing, but they said it was a required charge for each of the phone lines. I asked what the hunting charge was and they said that is a phone rollover charge, which was assessed for every line. I told him that I was not informed of these extra charges and the monthly fee is higher than what I was quoted. They did nothing to make it right, and we switched back to AT&T. Don't ever deal with these people! You will be so sorry that you did. They are flat out liars. The problem is is that they don't tell you what company they truly work for and tell you that they are AT&T. It makes it very difficult to determine when AT&T is really calling you about a pertinent issue now that I've experienced this. We get phone solicitors every day that those of us that answer the telephone have to deal with, but as soon as you ask them if they are employees of whatever company they are saying they are associated with, they hang up. This company actually tells you that they are employees of the company that you currently deal with. From now on, I have decided that whenever someone tells me they are calling from a company that our office currently deals with, I will ask them to verify what our account number is because if they are truly our company, then they should be able to provide this information. My experience falls in line with everyone else here. They called about lowering service charges disguised as AT&T reps, then later as a carrier of AT&T (not to be confused with provider, as they put it, claiming AT&T utilizes their service), and lastly as a back and forth competitor. The service rep was sweet, charming, and welcoming. She spoke quickly, understanding that I wasn't totally clear on what she was selling nor what she supposedly discussed with my coworker. She explained that once the agreement was set, nothing about our service was changing except a transfer to small business the Telplex package (claiming AT&T was already utilizing them for long distance service that we supposedly use) and our rate down to $40/line per month. The rep stated that after everything was agreed upon and confirmed the service, we can change our minds later no problem. Sent me over to another operator to verify the agreement and that's where her misrepresentation surfaced. The operator asked yes or no questions explicitly having me understand that the rep was not, in fact, with AT&T. After some more questions, the operator needed a final confirmation after disconnecting the call and calling back, and that was where I said no. Took me to the last prompt, but at least it wasn't cemented. I was brought back to the nice rep immediately who asked to explain things further to my supervisor. She offered to have her own supervisor clear the confusion and I dismissed her politely. A call immediately followed asking for my busy supervisor from none other than her own supervisor. I think he said his name was Keith and he, unlike the rep, wasn't very charming or polite. After aggressively requesting my supervisor's time, he ultimately hung up on me. When I saw the reviews and BBB info on this company, I told the sales person, who was still on the phone with me, that I don't want to sign up. No problem...he was nice and said goodbye. The next day I received the same e-mail, prompting me to sign-up. I called them and asked to be removed from their email notifications. This happened 2 more times, and twice more I called and asked to be removed from their mailing list. Today, I received over 10,000 e-mails over 2 hours. When I called they said they would have a supervisor call me when she got in. That hasn't happened. horrible experience!!! I received a phone call at my office promising to save me money. The sales person promised to save me close to $100 a month from what I was paying for our AT&T bill. We paid $220 a month with AT&T for 3 lines, remote call forwarding and voicemail. Telplex sent our bill to the wrong address charged us late fees for not paying our bill on time and our monthly bill was increased more than $100 from what we paid for with AT&T. When I called and told the operator we were promised to save money and they were charging us more, I was told there was nothing she could do for me she was sorry for the misunderstanding.
