Lunch special-tempura and chicken
Suanne K.

Japanese style meal in a box lunch style with separate compartments. So many choices on the menu. And they offer sushi rice as an option! Make a reservation, we got there at 11:00 am when they opened, and there was a line of people who had reservations, on a Wednesday morning! We were lucky they had space for walk ins! Casual dining, the restaurant is located in Kam shopping Center. Lots of free parking available.

Update 10-6-26. My brothers friend wanted to take us for lunch. This time I had their miso butterfish. It was good. My husband had their char siu ramen with miso broth and fried oysters for appetizer. It was very good. Boy it was crowded as well. This place is located by times market in Kam shopping ctr. Opens at 11am and they recommend reservations. But my brothers friend was 1st in line so we got in 1st. Lol...

We were lucky to get seating for 8 of us on a Saturday a little after lunch. We just got done with a community event and were famished. I ordered the veggie croquette and the veggie tempura set. The veggie croquette was good but could have used more veggies in it. The outside could have been more light and crispy. The vegetable tempura had a good mix of veggies, but I had hoped for some shave radish for my dipping sauce. The keiki meal was such a deal for ramen, edamame, and the teriyaki chicken with rice. Such a good amount of food for both my kids which they couldn't finish. Service was good and quick. The waitress was attentive to refills of drinks. I got a Diet Coke and was so glad they have Coke products and the fountain drinks there. Parking was packed at lunch time but was opening up as we were looking for parking. The stalls and ways of the parking lot can be confusing if you don't go there often.

3-11-2026 Lunch with my wife and brother-in-law. I ordered the Char sui Ramen with miso broth. The broth was spot on. The noodles excellent. Char Sui was heavy on the shoyu flavor. Also ordered the fried oysters. This oyster dish in one of the best on the island. Enjoy

8/18/26 4 Stars for the one woman out of 3 servers, younger girl n a man, who was doing such a great job First time dining here because I couldn't cook at home Restaurant was packed Possibly because upper Kalihi Valley's electricity was out 24+ hours...Hurricane Lala I ordered Pupus; Ahi Poke was shoyu style w Limu, on a bed of greens w so much round onions... wish it was sweet onions Fried Oysters came out tan in color Would have been better if more golden in color because the oysters were so juicy it would have handled more frying Served w mayo but I asked for tonkatsu sauce which was better Ikura was plump n good sized Next time I would try other dishes because they have so many offerings Large bottles of Orion Beer was "So Cold!"

This small unassuming spot is filled with warmth and delicious food. We were greeted by kind and helpful staff. We got excited at the different options and decided to get a combo with butterfish and kalbi as well as ahi limu poke and udon. Usually when you go somewhere, there are some stand outs and duds but everything here was delicious! The butterfish was grilled to perfection and the umami flavors of the kalbi were mouthwatering. The udon was perfect for me, nice thick noodles, plenty of wakame, the soup just salty enough. We could really taste the kukui in the ahi limu poke, which is key! The prices were so reasonable, we have nothing bad to say about this spot. We came here after the Bishop museum and might have to make it a tradition. Thanks for a delicious lunch! We will be back soon!

Update on Teishoku located in the Kamehameha shopping center . Next door to Times supermarket and Bale sandwiches. Whenever you see a line of customers to get inside to dine you better know it's good . Hands down this is one of the best place I've eaten butterfish Misoyaki. Try it if you haven't already I highly recommend it and when you look around the tables and mostly all the tables ordered the butterfish you know it's good lol Support local

This is a cozy hole in the wall restaurant located in Kam Shopping center. They're generally pretty busy (especially when there are events being held at campus on the hill!). I like that they'll allow you to make a reservation online. 10 or 11 booths & a few seperate tables that can be put together for a large party. Prices are amazing! Service is friendly & quick. Food is delicious.

Amazing food! Delicious poki with seaweed. Authentic local food, dine with the local folks. Better than any food you find at Waikiki. Highly recommend for a reasonably price meal.

One of my local friends recommended this spot. Be warned that parking is very busy in this plaza, but it is free. Inside is a quaint little Japanese ambiance. The menu has a good array of cooked fish choices, sushi options, and soups or ramen. The service was great, especially given our large group. This wasn't a super fancy place but the food was amazing. The prices are very reasonable as well. We will most certainly return to this spot when we visit Hawaii again.

Sunday 7/13/25 Came for a late lunch about 2 pm after an 11 am baseball game in Manoa and a flight of ice cream in Hawaii Kai. There was a bit of a wait as several tables and high chairs needed to be wiped down after previous customers who had left. It must have been busy earlier. The volume of their music was quite loud at first. Perhaps if they played some softer recognizable background music it would match their dainty looking hanging light fixtures better. There were 2 female employees, one took the order and another delivered our orders. A pleasant and polite male employee waited on other tables and brought us a package for left overs. We both couldn't figure out how to securely close their take out compartment container with a flap and a button like area but nothing to press it into. Hubs enjoys Saba and remarked that the prices were reasonable compared to elsewhere except for my steak. I ordered medium well, it was seasoned perfectly, looked thin but not charred or overcooked. It tasted delicious. Sadly for a ribeye it was tough and very chewy. I took 2/3 of it home in hopes of trying to soften it if I cook it for dinner by boiling it a bit then make a hekka or something with tofu tonight.

Like having a piece of Japan near my house! Quaint hole in the wall restaurant with quick and easy service. We live very close to Kam Shopping center, so this is one of our go to places. One of the waiters even knows my parents when ever he sees them. Very good quality for what you pay for. Their combination specials are the best and sushi rolls are to die for. Any of this fish or fried foods are perfect for all your Japanese living needs. It is on the smaller side and does get kinda crowded during dinner rush, but the waiters/waitresses do a very good job on getting your food to your table very quick. I honestly got my food before I could finish a conversation. My favorites are always the appetizers or Ala carts. Hamachi Carpacio, Salmon round onion, baby tako, tako wasabi, karaage, all are so good.

It's been a while since been here. Looked the same, clean& compact with booth & table seating. Complete your reservation online as lunch & dinner times, you may not get a table right away. Happened to me & had to go at 3:30pm instead of 5 pm as I first requested. Seated & plenty of time for my party of 7 to arrive & check out what they wanted to eat. Staff is efficient and service on this slow period was sufficient, getting extra plates , forks, etc . The food was tasty & with good portions. ( see pics) everyone enjoyed their meals & some had leftovers. Very reasonable prices, & quality of food & freshness is a plus! Have to go more often. They offer a punch card system for frequent diners, getting you a discount. Parking in the busy strip mall , can be challenging, just be patient. A very pleasant dining experience with good Japanese food!

Then there's tamago, ebi, hamachi, tako, sake, Tobiko and tai. Oh ok. I understand. Ahi (yellow fish), egg, shrimp, Yellow tail, octopus, salmon, flying fish eggs and red snapper or sea bream. The chirashi comes with Miso soup, edamame, cabbage and pickled onions(?). The place was crowded when we came in. Harder to sit a group of five people. My bowling mates all opted for the lunch box which is a great deal. It comes with everything that I got with my chirashi. You can select 2 choices and a piece of either vegetable tempura or shrimp tempura or 2 pieces of gyoza. I'd recommend the shrimp tempura. All of this for just $22.95. That's a good price for Japanese food and the amount given. My chirashi was $25.95. If you're looking for Japanese food and on a budget, give this place a try. Ask for Cris and tell her the Monday bowlers sent you. She will get a kick out of that. Mahalo gang and have a nice day.

My family and I eat out a lot and I mean pretty much every night of the week because we love the convenience of it and we're just lazy after a long day of work. I love that even before ordering our food we're already excited and drooling by how she describes the taste herself and how it melts in your mouth. It's not just the words but also facial expressions. Some people just really knows how to sell the sizzle. Then when the whole spread shows up and it actually delivers just how she said. Literally heaven in my mouth! The bites that make you roll your eyes back kinda bites. If you know what I mean. Everyone on our table just kept saying "oh my gosh try this one...oh you gotta that one. Our drinks were always topped off we never had to ask for anything they were on it. The cherry on top is even with how busy it was she managed to gather a team together to sing happy birthday to my son. She also recommended the wasabi Wednesday's which I'll have to try next for sure. Their veggie menu is at the end of the QR code menu so I tend to forget about them but they have few vegetables too. We usually come on weekdays and come as a walking. We usually wait for about 5-10min until they set up our table. Funny enough, everyone dining that evening seemed to be couples, and we were the only two ladies without men, so we got seated at the corner of the counter. But who needs men when we can be each other's dates? Two independent, powerful women enjoying a fabulous omakase dinner :)! What sets this omakase experience apart from others I've tried is the chef's attention to detail. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared with precision, creativity, and a unique touch. The ingredients were of exceptional quality, and the presentation was just as impressive as the flavors. I'm terrible at remembering every dish, but one that really stood out to me was the black sesame tamago. It was such a comforting, warm finish to the experience. Watching the chef prepare it was fascinating, especially knowing how much time, patience, and skill went into perfecting it. By the way, the ambiance is great. And within that small enclosure, he transformed into a wizard creating wonderful, out-of-this-realm nigiri that played tricks on our palates. The quality of the fish was nothing short of superb. His creative use of ingredients popped in our mouths - a literal party in every morsel. We could not help but close our eyes, shake our heads and do a slow appreciative clap for each and every bite for all fourteen plates. One of the most memorable meals we've ever had.
