Hostess was nice and attentive. Waiter was friendly and very attentive and checked on us frequently. Ordered the "RI" Calamari for an app. This was priced at $21 which is pretty steep for Calamari appetizers in general. We got a lackluster scattered plate of sad, poorly breaded and soggy calamari. The breading was falling off most of it especially when you'd try to fork it up. The cherry peppers draped over the ones in the center added acidity, but further sogged out the already not well prepared squid. The hangover burger was cooked to medium rare, as I asked and was tasty. Fries and onion rings were totally fine. My table mates both got 2 different chicken paninis and thought they were mediocre. We stopped in here on a recent trip through Oyster Bay. It used to be Canterbury's, and if anyone remembers that place, aside from the name change and a few new decorations on the walls, it looks almost the same. The food actually wasn't too bad. As an appetizer, we got the Rhode Island Calamari, which was fantastic! I ordered the Fig & Prosciutto Flatbread pizza as my entree. It was good. I liked the combination of sweet and salty. The people I was with both ordered a burger, which did look good. The service was okay, I guess. It took the waiter a while to get around to taking our orders, and then even longer for it to come out from the kitchen. My food was lukewarm, but I was hungry, so I ate it. The place was nice and clean and well-lit. Okay, so here's why I'm leaving a 1 review: At the end of the meal, the waiter came over, handed us the bill, and said if we went online and left a 5 review, then showed the review to him, he'd give each of us a free beer. The food was really good and the service was too! The falafel burger is a lot of bun, so my partner peeled the bottom off and doubled it up, but said it was delicious. I can attest to the fact that his fries were hot and tasty, too! I had the fig and prosciutto flat, which, while not what I was expecting (it's not actually covered in sliced figs-there is a tasty figgy jelly like substance drizzled over flat), was also really good. Definitely look at photos from fellow yelpers for an idea before you order-wish I had! The atmosphere was warm and friendly & we'll definitely be back! American The site of the old Canterbury Ales, Teddy's Bully Bar evokes memories of 26th president who summered in Oyster Bay. The place hasn't changed a whole lot from the old CA days- maybe it is a tad brighter in there and the bar apparently has been reworked. Speaking of the bar, which is where I sat, it seems to me that something has changed here. I could be wrong but either: I have either shrank in stature quite a bit The floor got lowered somehow The barstools shrank The bar got raised. Since a long time has passed from when I visited last, I'm going to go with somehow the bar got raised higher. Was sitting there and the bar was almost level with my shoulders. I mean, I'm not a midget but sheesh- I felt like a little kid in there while sitting at the bar. Something was off there. Beyond the odd bar (or stool) size, the food was decent. I went with a BBQ pulled pork sandwich with fries. Food came out fast and was hot- maybe too fast but I suppose you have to make the BBQ ahead of time. Fries were cooked well. Sandwich portion size was somewhat small but they put in a lot of fries, so your call if it was worth $18 or not. I washed it all down with an adult beverage and headed out - Probably a decent place to visit if in the area - not sure if I would make a special trip to try it. Kids are running the joint! Bottom line-kids are running the joint. This was our 3rd time visiting this place since the change from CANTERBURY ALES. First 2 times we sat at the bar and had a kid-early 20-something year old tending bar. Both times texting on their phones and chatting with each other. Had to interrupt them to get some sort of service. Tonight we went to try having dinner. Waitress asked if we would like to start with appetizers. We ordered appetizers. Then, we sat there - our appetizers came out - no asking if we had decided on main courses. So, we eat the appetizers. We finish the appetizers. They clear our appetizers. Then our waitress asks if we would like to order main courses. By this time I am half-full and half-pissed. My wife was still hungry so we ordered a sandwich and we split it. After finishing our waitress is standing by the computer chatting with another young waitress. After flagging her down to get her attention I ask for the check. Still had to wait. Every time she passed our table she would look at me and snap her fingers as if she was thinking: "Oh, damn! Their check!" this happened twice. Finally got the check. Paid. Left the first recommended gratuity (20%, 25% & 30%). Each time I have been there I haven't seen anyone over the age of 25 working there. No manager (unless he hides in the office). I am local and keep coming back hoping to find a dish I love but unfortunately so far everything is just kind of okay. My kids do love the chicken tenders and say they are the best around but a very small portion. I recently had the French dip and it was so dry! Even with dipping in the au jus it was like sand in My mouth. Since it's convenient and my kids like it I'll try again snd hopefully find something that I can use as my stand by, but so far I usually leave feeling disappointed. I used to come here regularly, but just visited and really just meh. It's nice enough inside, supposedly to look like a T. Roosevelt era bar, but it's too faux. Nice enough service, but the Caesar salad was the worst I've ever had, bagged iceberg with bottled dressing, come on, get a chef. Unexpectedly amazing! My sister and I used to ask patrons coming out from Teddy's if they liked the food and most of the responses we got were "Meh - typical pub fare. We come for the drinks and the music." We were turned off by those words - until one night, we decided to try something new because none of us had a hankering for Tabby's or Wild Honey or any of the other places nearby. It was one of the best meals we've had. I ordered the chicken kebabs with the jerk sauce on the side. The sauce was unexpectedly light and the next time I get it - I think I'd get the jerk sauce on the chicken. The kebabs were tender and the yellow rice pilaf to go with it was perfection. We sat outside. My sister's boo got the fish and chips, my sis got a caesar salad, and mum opted for the falafel burger. Everyone was beyond pleased with their noshes. We also got some beers and I got the Paloma. Everything was delicious! I went back another time with my bestie and sat indoors opposite the bar. She ordered a hamburger - it was very messy but also delicious. We got lucky and had some live music and it was really nice. I tried the falafel burger without dairy - it was alright but I think I would have enjoyed another round of the kebabs more. There's only one restroom per gender and it was quite a wait when I needed to use it. The stall is too small - No one can sit or hover over the toilet with the stall door closed - better to remove the stall, since it is a one person restroom anyway - and have more room to maneuver oneself instead of being awkwardly angled. Can only comment on the food based on delivery at the brewery next door. The convenience can't be beat but the food quality was pretty mediocre. We sampled the margarita pizza, Mac and cheese with fries, burger and chowder. The burger was the best thing for sure but it was quite salty. The pizza was a no-go and the fries were soggy with the Mac and cheese (maybe from condensation in the container??). The chowder was a bit thin and quite $$$ ($12 for a cup). The good: location. Right in the middle of it all! Decor: love it! Really embraces the surrounding areas and rich local history Menu: lots of options for everyone! Music: live band while we were there. They sounded great and the volume was perfect! The not so good: Wait staff: our waiter seemed enthusiastic at first blush but not once did he check on us, we'll until it was time to give the check TO us. We went through the carafe of water pretty quickly and it sure would have been nice if our waiter refilled it for us. The place was pretty empty so there really is no excuse other than they just didn't give a crap The food: sandwich's , burgers all cooked and presented nicely. Cole slaw comes in a little Dixie like cup that you might do a jello shot in. I'd rather you give me no coleslaw than a half a fork full of coleslaw. Burger isn't house made and the fries certainly aren't. Disappointing considering the bill was $82 but I guess this is the high rent district. Not a bad place if you want to hang at the bar and drink and if I lived closer I'd probably visit once in a while. I'd say this is a 3-3.5 star place. read more

They used to have a good bar staff here only reason we ever went back. But now it's all down, food is all frozen and looks like zero effort put into it. I've been following Teddy's on instagram for a while now and finally made my way in. I was so happy I did. The theming in this bar is so good, very old timey, a great nod to our past President. Good food and nice vibes. Came here for a late lunch and ordered the veggie panini. My parents got the fried oysters, crab cakes, and poke salad. The oysters and crab cakes were very good, lot of crab. The veggie panini was mediocre, but the fries saved the show. I love a place that does fries good, crispy exterior and fluffy inside. Loved that all of the fries were crispy and you weren't stuck searching for the crispy ones. The service was decent. We were seated immediately and our waiter was nice. They were quite packed and only had two servers, but the service was still good. Nothing was outstanding, but also nothing to complain about. This was a great surprise. We went to explore oyster bay and like most places that are seasonal... not much was open! Apparently in summer it's much better. With 3 kids and 1 dog we were looking for a warm place to eat. Teddy's was perfect. Great selection of beer. The lady who served us was very attentive to us. We sat next to the fire place that was a nice touch. We had burgers and fish&chips. Everything was fast and tasted so good. Love this local shop with a great welcoming vibe. Teddy's has great food, good prices, and an excellent staff. It's right downtown in Oyster Bay, and connects well with the history of the town. So why only three stars? Two critical flaws. First, it's pretty bright, and that detracts from the ambiance, especially in the evenings. Second, they have live music on Friday and Saturday nights, and other times: and the bands are quite good. What's wrong with good live music? Nothing! I'm a musician and my bands have frequently played in similar spaces. But... The music is so critically loud that you can't have a conversation. I've seen staff leave the place when they get a phone call. The bartenders can't hear you. This isn't a metal concert, it's a family restaurant, and until and unless they get their act together I won't be returning. read more

I feel bad leaving a bad review but that's what this platform is for right? As a family, we all agreed this was the worst meal/service/atmosphere we have ever experienced. When we went to walk in, we noticed the restaurant next door was packed so we were surprised to walk in to this very pretty restaurant that was empty. We asked to sit to eat and sat at a table. We ordered drinks that took no less than 25 minutes to come to the table. Throughout the 25 minutes we were waiting the waitress was literally just sitting on her phone so we were confused....maybe she forgot?after 25 mins of waiting and getting our food before the drink she delivered the drinks and she said sorry for the wait.....which made it even more confusing that she was aware she never brought them over. She asked if we needed anything else and we reminded her of the 3 other drinks we ordered when we first sat down that we still didn't receive. Ultimately My drink was terrible and I didn't even drink it and all of the food was subpar. The 4 of us left disappointed and hungry. I hate to leave a bad review but hoping whoever owns this establishment will see this and try to make some changes to what looks like a very pretty restaurant! read more
