They showed that I was illegally stopped and that I didn't commit any traffic violation and that subsequently showed that the police officer made false statements under oath. But because of the testimony by the Tech Fusion team, the DA didn't want to risk exposure of dishonest and egregious misconduct by the police, which would have occurred had the court hearing continued and the judge heard more of TechFusion's testimony. Well.. When I am quoted over a thousand for a hd extraction, and they diagnose the issue over the course of a day or so.. it makes me wonder how "difficult" the problem is to address which merited such a high estimate. "Oh we'll just drag and drop and burn it on a cd or charge you extra for a new hard drive" ..and just take care of it real quick. Really?! OR, after some confrontation about the price/difficulty of the service, they will whittle it down to $600 with a positive yelp review?! Umm.. I should have checked Yelp before I reached out to this place... I wouldn't have bothered emailing for a quote. I received a phone call from Alfred this evening in response to my email inquiry about an estimate on data recovery. Instead of letting me ask questions as to why their starting rate was $500, he cut me off to tell me I sounded "like an intelligent person" and could determine how much I value my data. Clearly that was meant sarcastically and was said condescendingly. He also said that the difference between TechFusion and others is whether not the labor is Chinese or American. Racist much? I'm not paying for the ethnicity of the person who recovers my data, but I see no reason for "American labor" to cost me hundreds more than a place like Micro Center. Alfred didn't like me speaking, so he hung up on me. I called back to let him know I'd be sharing my review on all available channels. I don't care how good their work is, I won't support racists. Let's be clear - I get that your rates are your rates, but it is incredibly unprofessional to talk about race or nationality as a justification for pricing. We had hard drive failures within the RAID of the servers and brought it in to Tech Fusion. The person I spoke to didnt know what ESXi was (should have been a red flag) and we went through the process. We paid an extra fee for expedited evaluation ($4,500). The evaluation took longer than anticipated and then they eventually said it could be recovered for a particular price (a Very HIGH price I may add at $7,500, in addition to the evaluation). I said I would need to get approval from the owners of the company and then a short while later they emailed to say they were nearly done and needed payment. We never authorized the work, but they went ahead and did it anyway. They then wanted to have a call and when we said we were waiting to see if business insurance will cover the cost they want to be helpful to get the money and suggest lying to the insurance agent to get it covered. They actually asked the agent what they need to say in order to have it be concidered covered. The insurance agent actually called the owner of our business to say let us know what was happening. If you ask me it was pretty unethical. None the less, they said the data was all recovered and we agreed and sent payment in (and not through insurance) as we could still use the data (most of the data had already been re-constructed from other backup sources). They were to send us the original hardware back including the servers and original hard drives, and the recovered data on an external drive. The owner, Alfred, said he would overnight the data to us... well he sent it ground and it ended up getting re-routed all over the place before it finally got delivered to us 4 days later. We get the external drive and nothing is usable on it. All of the files are corrupted and several folders that were on the hard drive were just empty. i had asked several times if they just forgot to copy those folders over and no response, they just avoided the question. I ask about he corrupted files and they tell me well we can fix that, for another $3,500. We have already spent over $10,000 and have NOTHING to show for it, not a single file that is usable. I cant see spending more and more money and I have NOTHING to show for it. They never sent the original hard drives back and when I question the owner about it I am pretty much told tough luck. read more

The owner Alfred, yelled at me on the phone and told me I was acting like a child. Literally he would not let me talk on the phone, every time I tried to speak he would start raising his voice, he claimed that I was putting words in his mouth when I asked about why the price had tripled...then he hung up on me. 15 min after he hung up on me, he calls back on a restricted number and apologizes. Terrible. I brought over my hard drive and they quoted me $900. A week later they sent me a list of the files they had found, and it was someone else's list. When they sent me the right list they told me it was going to cost $4,500. I told them I wouldn't pay that and to send me the drive back. Then I didn't hear from them. Finally when I called they were rude and made it seem like the whole thing was my fault. I will never use this company again. read more

If these guys have any 4 stars, they are writing their own reviews. I was told it would take 7 days to recover my data, and I would hear from them in 3 days. Well I never heard from them. They had my hard drive for 8 weeks and ignored all of my requests for information on the drive. I spoke with both the owner and the manager. Both lack any skills in customer service and were useless. I finally called and said I was coming in to get the drive, they promised it would be ready on a certain date. When I arrived to pick it up they acted like they never heard of me. They also overcharged me $1245. This overcharge was only resolved via my credit card company months later. They did recover much of my data (after the Apple Store and Microcenter failed), but managed to create duplicates of many files they recovered. Dealing with TechFusion is one huge expensive hassle that nobody deserves. read more

Maybe they help other people? I had a very bad experience here - my mistake - two experiences. I actually went back to them after going there once, thinking that things would be different. BIG mistake. The first time I went was to repair a computer. They offered to replace a bad part. It took more than three weeks to fix (- when I was told it would be less than a week) and the computer died a month later. It turns out they do not guarantee their parts or service. A year later I returned because I had installed a Windows Update that ended up crashing my laptop. When I got it back, more than two weeks later, the laptop was beyond repair. This is after I was told that my computer was fixed, working, and ready to be picked up. My hard drive was wiped out and my laptop wouldn't even start up! They didn't even have an explanation for me! I was so upset, I didn't realize that they overcharged me for the service (yes, I'm serious) until I was going over my monthly statement. I had paid an initial diagnosis fee and was then charged two more "diagnosis fees" on top of the repair charges. Just hearing the name "Techfusion" makes me see red. read more

Think again about using these guys. They restored my hard drive, charged me a fortune, then mistakenly gave the entire recovered drive of data to a complete stranger! They admitted the mistake, then nothing. Extoled the virtues of their fabulous "chain of custody" and quality control but would do nothing. Did not get the data back or confirm its destruction. Would not compensate me for the hassles of credit checks and legal follow up. They talk a good game but don't stand behind their promises. read more

Had an issue with a CF card, (it wouldn't mount, and therefore I couldn't get the video files off of it) so I dropped it off to the folks at TechFusion really hoping they would be able to recover the files off the card that I couldn't download. I was going out of town and only had a few hours to try and get the data off the card but sadly could not. I left the card with TechFusion with my $90 initial fee and a $500 deposit. I called back a few days later and was told they had no new information yet. The owner actually got quite mad at me for calling before their 5-7 day estimated time and told me I should come pick up my card if I did not trust them. Immediately weird. A few days later (I waited due time) I called them back, and they told me that the card was structurally damaged and they had to take it apart and order new parts to fix it, and that it would take another four days. Okay fine, I said go for it. Eight business days after my card had been dropped off, I called again (they never reached out to me) and they told me that they couldn't recover the data without going into "Phase 2" which would cost me another $2500. Although the files were really important to me, I wasn't willing to go this route (especially since I had not had a good experience with them thus far), so I told them no thanks and that I would be picking up the card. They were obviously not happy about my decision and told me it would take 24hrs to put the CF card back together. When I had my husband go pick up the card the following day, the man at the front desk told him that they never even took apart the card- they only did that in "Phase 2"...Hmmm. My husband brought it home and worked on it for a few hours and was able to recover EVERY video file on the card, for FREE. Regardless of what happened with my individual card, (I have no idea what they did- or did not do) I am clearly not a satisfied customer and therefore would not recommend going to TechFusion. I felt that I received terrible customer service throughout, and I really felt as if they were trying to scam me. From this one experience with them, I'd never go back. They are over-priced, rude and provide poor communication with clients. Maybe others have had positive experiences, but I did not. read more

Took a crashed drive to these folks. They recovered it nicely and charged a small fortune. OK I can live with that. But then they copied and gave the data to a complete stranger! (the stranger had to contact ME!). Sensitive files including bank accounts and SSN's. Company admitted the screw up, tried to blame the other guy, then lawyered up. I'm an IT and those guys are NOT! No professional at all, never followup, always pushing to the next day, You will only speak with Alfred on your ($$ deposit day) after that, the secretary only. In my case they told me that they had other "URGENT" cases in front of me which were paying them TOP DOLLAR to get their HD recovered (9K +) and that is why my data was not recovered yet. I was gouged. Went to them two years ago for data recovery for water damage (emergency, over the weekend) after their name was given to me by Apple. Charged me $1500. Just now had the same problem, called two Apple stores, was sent to Computer Loft in Allston (Computer Loft has 170 Yelp reviews with 4.5 average; both stores had taken TF off their referral list.) Computer Loft charged me 1/7 (!!) the cost for the same problem -- $180!!; said if had been "emergency," it might only cost an extra $50. Now I realized each store can have slightly different fees, but SEVEN TIMES THE COST?! FOR SAME WORK?? I was dumbfounded, assumed rep at TF would jump to make amends when I called. (I had just spoken to him couple of weeks ago at length, had really good feeling about him and the shop, almost went there today for this repair.) Nope, lots of excuses. I ran those excuses by Computer Loft, they were appalled with them. So completely disappointed with TF, I had such belief in the shop but apparently I was way off. I went to this company at 9:00 at night on a Thursday after my HD crashed at 7 pm and the Apple Store couldn't recover the data so they recommended TechFusion for being able to recover data overnight. I had just gotten to Boston for a new job two days before and hadn't had time to set up a backup drive. Worst possible timing for a crash ever. If I didn't get my two days of work back, I could lose my job. I told Alfred this. He asked where I worked. I told him I was working on a movie. He then wanted to tell me about all the "famous" people he knew, like I'd know them personally, and then he wanted to brag about all the famous cases of data recovery he'd been on the news for. At this point, it was 10 at night, I'm sitting alone with a man I don't know in a sketchy windowless office accessed through a back staircase off a dark parking lot in a place I've never been before, and all I wanted to hear was that he could get my data back. Alfred charged me a $600 rush fee for overnight work. Yes, someone probably worked over night, and yes, they recovered my data, but at the end of Friday they told me they had recovered my data but it would take another day or two to actually get me the data. I got my data back 3.5 days after I paid the rush overnight fee and he wanted to charge me $3200 on top of the $600 AND not fix the computer, just give me an external drive with my data, so I'd have to go get the laptop repaired or replaced on top of this fee. He couldn't itemize these costs or tell me how he arrived at this price. The 1 TB external drive priced out online at $49. He did tell me that I drove a nice car (its a company rental I didn't pick out) and implied that meant I could afford it. He also commented on my dress and asked where I got it implying he thought it was expensive. (It was Anthropologie that I got 2nd hand for $12.) He knew how bad I needed that two days of work recovered and he exploited me because he thought I was good for it with a job in the film industry, a nice car and a nice dress. Gave me the same lines he gave other reviewers here that they'd "never seen a hard drive break in this way." However, the hard drive didn't need replacing he said. It could be fixed. How bad was it then really? I called around for 2nd opinion estimates and every place I told Alfred's price to literally laughed out loud and said that was absurd. The Apple employee that helped me the first night apologized profusely for sending me there and said he'd never recommend TechFusion again. When I asked for my computer back so I could take it somewhere else to fix it for cheaper, Alfred said it would take two more days because he'd have to "undo" the fix .. how you undo a software malfunction, I am not sure, but Alfred was now becoming hostile, yelling at me for questioning his arbitrary prices. At this point I just really needed my computer back in working order so I could do my job. Every time I asked him to itemize his costs, he'd say "I'll call you back" and then come back like some kind of used car dealer with a slightly lower price. Eventually, I negotiated him down to $2800 with a wiped clean working computer and external drive with data. When I went to pick up the computer, I was so afraid of Alfred that I brought a coworker. First, he was late meeting us at his office. Then he walked right past me while I waited by the door as if he didn't know me. I had to text him to say I was waiting outside and he had locked the door behind him. When he let me up to his office, I wanted to turn the computer on, attach the data drive and make sure my files would open and weren't corrupted somehow. To open the Illustrator file and be sure the vectors would still edit, I needed to reinstall Illustrator by download. He wouldn't let me on the office wifi because he said "How do I know you won't upload all your data and steal it and I will not be able to get my money?" I said "Well first because you're sitting right there and can watch what I do, and second, if it took you three days to transfer my data to an external drive, you think I can upload everything over wifi in a few seconds???" My coworker chimed in to agree that I should be allowed to inspect the product before I paid him thousands of dollars and he began yelling at her "I AM NOT DOING BUSINESS WITH YOU! I CAN ASK YOU TO LEAVE!" In the end, the computer worked for 10 days and then died again. I had to go buy a new computer anyway. I was over $7000 deep on this crash thousands of miles from home. I informed Alfred it had crashed again and he did not reply to my text. In the end I would say, yes, they'll get your data back but you might have to sell your first born for them to actually hand it over. They know EVERY customer that comes to them is desperate and they will take you for everything you have. read more

7 weeks they had my hard disk. Was told countless times that I would get an update and never got one. Had to call them back every time. Finally got an answer that my data was recovered and I received a bill for $1800, that was a discount from $2800, like I should have been pleased. That was on a Thursday and was told they would overnight the drive to me to cover for the delay in fixing it and lack of calls. I called the following Tuesday and they informed me that it just shipped USPS that day. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, WAY OVER PRICED. DO NOT NOT NOT GO HERE! I should have paid attention to these reviews before using Techfusion. Our experience was awful and would not recommend them. They had my computer for 10 days for data recovery. After multiple unsuccessful attempts to talk to technician or anyone who seemed knowledgable, eventually after $1000 we got back a fraction of the data on my computer. The computer keyboard wasn't functioning when we picked it up and they said, oops, and had to fix it. Worse still, the computer made a grinding noise and then didn't boot. Reluctantly, we brought it back. Two days of attempts to find out what was going on, two days of claiming they were 'working on it". When I finally picked up computer they told me they hadn't had run diagnostics on it. I quickly left with my computer before they could do any more damage.
