Out of ALLLLLL the milk tea places I've tried (gong cha, Mr. Bubble, tea society, purple kow, tapex, quickly, black pearl, sharetea, chatime, I-tea, tea lyfe, pleantea, T4, boba guys, Fantasia, thirst tea, bambu, aroma, mom & pop places, basically all the milk tea places in the Bay Area), this place sucks!! I tried this Teaspoon location during their grand opening and today. All the milk teas I ordered taste like water and I even ordered no ice this time. The mango smoothie is good, but I should've gotten it less sweet for my dad. Go to the Teaspoon on Moorpark next to Mitsuwa instead! Or if you want to stay in Milpitas, go to Tea Society. Another day, another boba place to try. I'm a sucker for quotes and puns so I personally liked all the decor, especially the cups. We walked in right about 11am and it was fairly empty still but it still took a good amount of waiting to get 4 drinks- took so long that we actually went off to Paris Baguette to browse. House milk tea - Kudos for having lactose free milk options on the menu! I got 75% sweet and thought it was delicious. Stronger tea than milk taste which I love. Milk tea is almost comparable to Fantasia! Sweet Marshmallow - Description on the menu is marshmallow black tea with cream which sounded interesting. I was disappointed with the actual taste though. There was no distinct marshmallow taste and it just tasted a lot sweeter version of the house milk tea. I would pass on this drink and just get the house milk tea with 100% sweet if you want a sweeter milk tea. We wanted the creamy jasmine as well but somehow they said their computers were not working so they were unable to make it. Not sure if it's a long term issue but hopefully it gets fixed so people are able to order that drink. Overall, cute little boba place and I would definitely come again if I lived closer. read more

Came here for some shaved ice on a hot day and well.. they are too cheap to turn the AC on so they leave the door open and that allows the place to be entirely covered with flies everywhere to the point where i felt disgusted to even eat there.. in addition to that they not only charge for water (which is ridiculous considering we are paying customers, it's not like we just waltzed in and asked for water) but they also charge for small containers to split the shaved ice, this completely doesn't make sense to me since their shaved us comes in sharing sized portions so how do you expect people to share if you charge for cups?! absolutely ridiculous, i'll NEVER be coming back, petty stores are the last thing I need to waste my time with read more

This is a great place to get milk tea when you're tired of the basic milk tea and/or milk tea places. They have different flavors rather than the normal which is a good experience. I've been here twice and I was never disappointed. The first time I went I got a regular milk tea with white pearls and I fell in love with it. The second time I went I had the grape flavoring one and I tried my boyfriends mojito, I ended up stealing his drink lol but overall I love it and I'm probably coming back. I've known this place through a coworker and after I tried it, man it's a history! We ordered 3x times a week and it's easy ordering through Yelp app. My kids love the silky mango, I love the taro lover, thai tea, liquid gold, milk tea, and mostly all the drinks are very good. I haven't try the new drinks yet but we will. Picking up the order after ordering through Yelp app was easy and convenient. It did not take longer than 20 minutes. Never had a problem. read more

Great idea to offer REAL dairy cream (organic, no less!) for milk tea. I tried the house milk tea at half sweet with boba, and although I got the dry mouthfeel of drinking real tea, I didn't actually get much TASTE of the tea that they used. all drinks loo like they're $4, and in only one size. hubby ordered the osmanthus oolong to compare it to his favorite drink at our usual boba place, teanado in Sunnyvale. teanado wins for sure. Teaspoon is good, but won't be part of our rotation. They have real dessert snow (ribbons of snow, not the texture of shaved ice), but we didn't try it. Teaspoon is offering BOGO drinks until June 5 IF you share their grand opening post on Facebook. Props to these guys for hyping up their grand opening like they did. They offered a free drink and a tote (and/or keychain?) For the first 100 customers and their line was easily over 200 before they even opened. The place is very modern and well decorated... Reliable place for boba. Delicious honey boba. I like how they use real chunks of taro for the taro lover drink. Their Thai tea drink is another good popular one too, as well as milk tea. I got it the other day with 75% which was good, but could also see it working with 100% with those who like more sweetness. Cute spot with cute decor. Got the green monster and grasshopper with boba. Requested half sugar for my grasshopper and it was still overly sweet for my liking. I can only imagine what 100% sweetness would be like. I Like how you are able to control the sweetness and because of that I will come back and try other drinks. The honey boba had a perfect texture and they are very generous for each cup. The green monster has green tea snow which has tons of green tea flavor present. It came with red bean, mochi and condensed milk. All ingredients tasted great together. I really wanted to try the avocado snow but they were all out. FIVE stars simply for the Japanese Rice Milk Tea w Honey Boba -- I've NEVER seen this tea in any other boba place before. They had samples on the front counter and Binky and I were immediately H O O K E D. We were also convinced to get the "Liquid Gold" drink -- not sure why this drink is so popular?? It has a strange taste (even though it's supposed to be oolong...). I got 50% sweetness though so maybe it tastes better with more sugar? I was shocked that this one is the number one seller. OR maybe in comparison to the delectably delicious rice milk tea, it just couldn't hold its own. Several people came in after us and EVERY single one of them ordered the drink (but with 100% sugar) (I am nosy so I listened to their convos w the cashier.) Reading other reviews, it seems as though they have the Japanese Rice Tea samples quite often! Perfect way to try a new drink without having to buy the whole thing (wish they had done that with the Liquid Gold......LOL). read more

The service here is always great. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the same case for the management. They are constantly running out of items and often close early (15-20 minutes before posted closing). Go to any other Teaspoon (there are 2 other locations in a 5 mile radius) for you favorite treat, chances are this one is closed or has run out of you favorite drink because they are unable to manage their inventory. read more

This is our new favorite in the Bay area. One of my boys and I love the special roasted creama, but my wife doesn't. I dunno why, it's fantastic like a smoke milk tea. The milk teas are awesome. So I ordered the usual - house milk tea w/ egg pudding, 25% sweetness. Which was perfecto as I really like the tea flavor. The sweetness from the egg pudding overpowered the drink anyway, so it was a good balance. Cool little chill spot. We came 30 minutes before closing so they weren't serving anymore smoothies and only premise drinks. My friends and i ordered the taro milk tea and it was pretty good. It tasted like cookie and cream in my opinion. You can never go wrong with taro. I would give this spot another try when I am in the area. Teaspoon is kind of just yet another one of the chain boba stores around the Bay Area, but the quality here is much better than the norm. Much better tasting boba and drinks than your typical Quickly's or TapEx. These guys definitely are in the top tier of boba chains in the Bay. Can't really go too wrong with any of the drinks here, so I'm not gonna give any crazy suggestions. I also enjoy how they have the longer and skinnier cups for their drinks. It makes it more unique. I decided to come here on a whim to satisfy a late night boba craving. It's located in the same plaza as Paris Baguette, but more to the side (right). The menu is very diy, where you can chose your own tea base and add a variety of extras. They also have a nice premade menu of specialty drinks. In terms of specialty drinks, I picked up the grasshopper with crystal boba and it's delicious. It's definitely a change from the usual mixtures at other boba places, but it's refreshing and simple. I'd give this a 4/5. Its good but the lychee could be a tad bit stronger. My bf made an earl grey milk tea with boba and egg pudding (his go to boba drink). The boba was tasty, however the milk tea was disappointing. It has an almost chalky or powdery taste to it, and a very strong tea taste. The egg pudding was so-so. I'd probably give this a 1/5. Teaspoon is a great place to try their specialty drinks, but I'm a little disappointed in their standard milk tea. Perhaps next time we will try it with the creama instead to see if that's better. But for now, Teaspoon is on the top of my list for specialty drinks, but on the bottom for your standard boba milk tea. read more

I had lots of mediocre bubble tea in San Jose. You'd think that San Jose, with its proximity to San Francisco and high concentration of Asian businesses, would have lots of decent options. Nope. We tried Ding Tea and a branch of Gong Cha, among others, and they were all disappointing. Teaspoon, at least the Milpitas location, stands out from the rest. The drink flavors are both more unique and very flavorful. Staff are also helpful and friendly. The taro milk tea comes with taro chunks (yay!). One of their more original flavors "The Grasshopper," is lychee green tea topped with cucumber juice. How refreshing! There are a few tables if you want to hang out. They have a backsplash on the back wall that's great for photos. ;) Overall happy with my experience, and I would definitely return next time I'm in the Bay Area. read more

First time there. I was going to order grapefruit green tea however after I tried their dark Oolong MT sample, I changed my mind n switched to Oolong MT. But things not done yet, the Oolong MT I got tasted kinda different from the sample. First, the MT tasted bland, a bit watery, not rich in either Oolong Tea or milk flavor. Boba was better than iTea, which was soft and chewy, not rubbery. Teaspoon was recommended by my local friend. They use authentic loose tea to make the drink which is what I prefer. But dunno why the Oolong MT was not so satisfying. Maybe next time I give their flavor tea a try. read more

Quite possibly the best bubble tea and Taiwanese shaved ice I've ever had. I've tried creating my own here with earl grey and crystal boba with house cream, which was absolutely delicious - the tea was wonderfully brewed and powerfully fragrant. The next tea I tried was the Liquid Gold at 50% sweetness - still very pleasant, but not for the sugar junkie. As a tea lover, I really enjoyed both the mixed and straight options available. As of this review I've only tried the Thai ice snow, which finds a great match with the condensed milk drizzled over it. My favorite thing about this place, aside from the very well brewed teas, is the carefully boiled tapioca balls. I've had undercooked ones with an unpleasantly hard center, and also overcooked ones with an unsatisfying chew. This place gets it right. If you've never tried crystal boba, I'd recommend giving it a shot here. It's pretty interesting and less tiring to chew on than the standard tapioca version. read more

I was happy that I was able to order my first favorite choice of drink (Strawberry Virgin Mojito), but I was disappointed to how it tasted. I've already tried the Teaspoon location in Mountain View. Love this location a lot more. More parking and the parking lot is not crammed. Really enjoy the artwork and decor. It is located in a shopping center with Grocery Outlet. First time ordering pick up through the Yelp app. It was very easy to use. The menu shows you pictures of the drinks with a description and price. Additional 50 cents per topping. Allows you to choose your sweetness, ice levels, and any special requests. When you are done placing your drinks just input your credit card info and you are all set. When we got there we were able to skip the line and head straight to pick up. The drinks were all ready to go. Very efficient and fast!! Literally in and out in a few minutes. Yayay!! This time I tried the grasshopper with lite ice, regular sweetness, and added lychee topping for additional 50 cents. The grasshopper is lychee green tea with fresh cucumber juice. At first I was iffy about the cucumber juice but decided to give it a try. And ended up loving it. Very refreshing on a hot summer day. I love the quality of the teas here. I have tried a few drinks at the other location and all have been very good. I will be back for more! Want to try the Assam Milk Tea or strawberry sangria next time ! read more

Teaspoon has some really unique specialty drinks that they're brave to execute and pretty successful at delivering on. It was a hot Saturday afternoon and I was really looking for something refreshing. I decided to get a virgin mojito which is a mix of mint leaves and lime in jasmine tea. They have flavor options that go with this and I'm not sure if you can go without the flavor. The person that took my order didn't prompt for a flavor and I had to ask for it myself. One of the more interesting toppings that I saw were the passion fruit dolphins. It turns out that their name is pretty descriptive. They were dolphin shaped jellies that were passion fruit flavored. I was kind of skeptical that I'd be able to get a dolphin through a boba straw but it's doable. There's kind of a technique to it as well...you have to hover over the tail of a dolphin and then well...sip hard. This technique does tend to damage the dolphin so I hope you're okay being a monster like all the other gummy bear and animal cracker eaters. The dolphins do taste of passion fruit and it's not too sweet. Overall the drink was decent. It was a little bit sweet and I really could have done without the peach flavor since that took over all the other mojito flavors. read more

They have my favorite drink of all time! Creamy Jasmine + light boba + almond pudding + 75% sweetness. Love how you can customize the sweetness of the drink and only place I've been to so far that offers almond pudding instead of egg pudding. Yum The workers are quick and friendly. And you can enter in your phone number for the FiveStars app and receive coupons for free drinks, BOGO or percent off your drinks. They don't have A LOT of drinks on their menu but sometimes they switch it up. They also have samples out of their different teas you can try. Drinks have a strong tea flavor and the "regular" sweetness is less sweet than other places. So if you usually get 50% sugar at other places, definitely get 75% here. Today I ordered the "liquid gold" drink which is honey oolong with cream, and it was really good!! The oolong flavor was very strong and satisfying. My BF got the taro milk drink and said it's the best taro drink he's had. They use plenty of real taro chunks here that actually look and taste like real taro -- as in the chunks are not an artificial lavender color!!! Also I had the thai tea flavored shaved snow with coffee jelly and mochi bits (Hangover 3) and that was a pretty big portion size for $6. Yes, milk tea and snow in one night ... So far, I've had the Classic Thai Tea, the Sweet Marshmellow, and the Lychee on Lychee. All of these have tasted just 'meh' to me-- I've had worse, but I've also had a lot better. I kept coming back and trying a different drink each time because I desperately wanted to like this place...kind of like when you buy a shirt that you love on the hanger, but it looks awful on, so you start getting creative in how you wear it in order to make it work before you finally give up and return it lol. Surprisingly my wife introduced many Taiwanese tea shop like tea spoon and Happy lemon, and I am actually impressed with their tea with boba. I like drinking these teas based upon black tea. I visited this teaspoon as my first visit, and they served tasty boba teas for us. But if I would be there alone, I might be confused to select many options for making customized teas. I've never been to any other location, but I think the tea quality is pretty good here. I liked the marshmallow one and they have a lot of unique options. I believe I got either 50% sweet and I remember thinking that it wasn't very sweet in comparison to other places, so maybe I'll try the next level up next time. Saw this in other Yelpers' reviews as well, so maybe it's not just me. When I went during their opening BOGO promotion, it was packed and took awhile to get my drink. I agree w/ others that there's not much space to wait for your drink. I'm sure usually when it's not that busy, it's no problem, but I felt like I was imposing by standing like literally 1 ft from the people trying to chill at the tables in the back. I love the decor in here, it's modern and whimsical. I'll definitely stop by again on my way home from work.
