Teatop is truly a staple in my top 3 boba places. My friends and I are always coming here after dinner. I am obsessed with the wintermelon alpine green milk tea here (my whole friend group usually orders this). It's the perfect sweetness and lightness just from the tea flavor itself. It is creamy but not too milky. Sometimes I get the cheese foam which adds extra creaminess! They have one of the best cheese foams that I have tried based on both flavor and texture. It is in the front of the plaza with plenty of parking, though it is harder to find parking during peak meal times. The seating in here is one really long table taking up a wall on the left and a handful of smaller tables on the right with chairs and a booth side to each. They have lots of ports on the right side, but it could get loud here. Their service is super fast too. I have never waited too long for my drink, even during rush times. They have a good reward system as well! It automatically is linked to my credit card so I don't accidentally forget to enter my account.

Tea Top consistently delivers on quality and service. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, similar to the Katy location. I'm especially obsessed with their Jasmine tea with regular milk foam! The floral aroma of the tea pairs perfectly with the creamy, subtly sweet and salty foam. Their crushed ice lemon green tea is also refreshing and the perfect drink for a hot summer day!

My friend raves about the Tea Tops in Houston and swears it's better than the one we have in the DC area, and she was not capping! The interior is nice and clean with the typical Tea Top colors and decor. The ingredients they use for their drinks are fresh and high quality. Between the three of us, we shared two drinks because we were already incredibly stuffed from two lunches and egg tarts that we enjoyed before getting boba. MILK FOAM WINTERMELON DRINK 奶蓋冬瓜 - 5.75 + cheese cap + less ice + 50% sweet + 0.65 for agar boba I love that they give you a lid where you can enjoy the wintermelon drink and boba through a straw and a sippy opening to try some of the cheese cap. For whatever reason, this refreshingly sweet and savory cheesy combination worked incredibly well. The agar boba isn't a must, but its jelly-like chewiness was a nice texture addition. I would prefer it a little less sweet, but this was what one of my friends wanted. YOGURT LYCHEE LEMON 荔枝檸檬多多 - 6.25 + less ice + 30% sweet + 0.65 for coconut jelly The sharp tanginess of this drink combined with the citric acidity of the lemon was a bit shocking, but in a good way. There's a lot of yakult and the tropical flavors of lychee in the drink. The coconut jelly helped balanced some of the sour flavors with its mellow sweetness, but this was overall a phenomenal drink that's unique. I would prefer 0% sweet since the yakult on its own is already pretty sugary. The drinks at this Tea Top location was solid and I would recommend checking it out. We didn't get any drinks with tea, but I'll try something tea-based next time.

My favorite place to get any milk tea/fruit tea in the DunHuang plaza! The tea is brewed in house and tastes great each time. My favorite is the wintermelon alpine milk tea or taro milk tea (they use real taro!!). Great study spot too.

A great place to study and get work done, seats are slightly uncomfy because it's a wooden bench and there's an extra long table if you don't mind sitting with strangers! If you like your traditional boba milk teas and you LOVE toppings - teatop is the place to go. Half my drink is always topping which I high key love. This is my go to especially if you want more than just the typical boba pearls. When I can't decide what topping I want, I just get the one that has 3 different toppings haha. Almost feels more like a meal than a drink

Tea Top truly is the top tea you can get in Houston. I've gotten to try 3 milk teas here: the classic black milk tea, sun moon lake milk tea, and alpine milk tea. All 3 were excellent but this is how I would rank them: 1. Sun moon lake 2. Alpine 3. Black The sun moon lake tea they serve is really special. Such a unique aroma that's hard to find elsewhere. In fact, I can't remember the last time I saw this tea on a menu. The alpine also has a nice fragrance. Finally, the tapioca pearls have been perfectly sweet and chewy each time. I'll be back without a doubt to try more of their milk teas! Good amount of seating here as well!

The signature Alpine Green Tea was extremely good, perfectly balanced between tea flavor and sweetness. The price was surprisingly cheap at around $4.90, and the drinks were ready in no time. I've been here before and will definitely keep coming back! There was a lot of seating available in the establishment and a restroom.

Came here after some dinner and it was packed on a Friday night. I got the wintermelon alpine green milk tea and loved it. Their wintermelon here is strong and I love the tea flavor. They are very fast with making the drinks here as well. Definitely my favorite place to get wintermelon milk tea

Fresh milk trifecta and alpine green tea

Tea Top is a very well-loved boba shop in Houston's Chinatown. The prices are slightly lower than the newer, "trendy" boba shops. Many of my friends say this is their favourite boba in Houston, including the friend I met up with during this visit. We came on a Sunday evening to chat and work. It wasn't very busy. I really like how they have a long table with many chairs, which saves space and maximizes seating. This feels like a more authentic boba shop that caters towards East Asian taste. Their menu is extensive and very accommodating. I really appreciate how they have a non-caffeinated section and a note about how all the fresh milk drinks use dairy-free milk. They have pictures of their top 10 drinks. My friend got the alpine green tea, which is their #1 drink. I thought it was kind of bitter, even though it had full sugar. I wasn't really into it, but my friend really likes it every time he goes. I got the fresh milk trifecta, which is their #2 drink. It comes with grass jelly, red bean, and tapioca. You can't adjust the sugar level because they don't add any extra sugar to it. Because they use fresh milk, and it's caffeine free, it doesn't have the classic milk tea flavour. The drink was not sweet, and the toppings were not sweet either, except for the red beans which were a little sweet. I enjoyed eating through my drink, but I wasn't very impressed by the taste. The price was $6.44 for their default tall size, which I found very reasonable. Parking in the surface lot of this plaza is a bloodbath. I recommend parking on the second floor of the free garage that is attached to Tea Top and its neighbouring restaurants. Walk over to the second floor restaurants from the garage and take the stairs down.

My go to order here is the sun moon lake tea with milk foam (less ice, 80% sugar). The milk foam compliments the tea with the perfect amount of creaminess, depth, and earthiness. There's also a slight saltiness that balances the sweetness. Will always recommend this to all my friends.

Signature Alpine Green Tea ($4.50)

Highlight: Signature Alpine Green Tea The tea had a fragrant aroma and smooth taste. A little bit on the sweet side but overall this drink is great. Hospitality: Super fast service. Got my drink within two minutes of ordering it. Honorable Mention: Quaint little shop and has the best prices I have seen for tea in a while.

Fresh Grapefruit Green Tea 鮮柚緣

They might have one of the best tasting fresh grapefruit green tea in town. There's grapefruit pulp with every sip and they only sweeten it with honey, no other sweetener which I prefer. It's not too bitter and not overly sweet. A good balance without making any adjustments. You can taste the tea. The strawberry smoothie on the other hand had way too much sugar and too sweet (at 80% sugar level). Made me even more thirsty. It didn't really taste like fresh fruits, but more on the artificial side. If you like sweeter drinks maybe this is a better option.

Taro boba balls
Tammy H.

Ok so this place is a tad more expensive but this has real taro and taro tapioca balls!!! Can I tell you how exciting that it?! Plus their alpine green tea with milk foam is straight fire. I went back twice within a week. Not proud of it but pretty glad I gave this place a second chance. Will be back for the other specials shortly ...

Ask the Community - Tea Top

What kind of milk do they use for their cream blends? I am vegan.

Whole cows milk- not sure if they have vegan offerings. I'd call and ask

What are the names for the teas in the display case in the long cylindrical containers?

Those are all cold brewed teas! They have 3 different kinds as follows: Golden Daylily tea, Li-Shan Oolong tea, and Osmanthus Oolong tea. They're towards the "green tea" end of the spectrum.

Cafe 101 serve Japanese and Chinese food. There are table and booths inside as well as a full bar. We started with a couple of sushi specials... bluefin toro and Uni. Thought the bluefin toro were fresh as well as the Uni. Wasn't expecting so was pleasantly surprised. For our mains, we ordered the twice cooked pork and beef galbi. Both came as a set... with rice, side dish of pickled radish and carrots and dessert. Price-wise, it was reasonable considering it came as a set. Twice cooked pork hits the spot. It was plenty and had some to go. Galbi was decent... it's not like Korean Galbi. It was pretty saucy, sweet and tender. It was decent portion as well. Think we found our new late night spot! Look forward to trying out the rest of their menu in the future. :-)

The lounge like ambiance, along with their diner-like menu, is a major selling point for folks and has been one of the reasons for their popularity over the better part of the last two decades. It is a bit trendy and plays music that you would think of and in a Miami lounge or a pretentious New York Club. While service is not their strong suit, the clean bathrooms, spacious seating, and semi-open kitchen makes up for some 'tudes from the staff. The menu is most definitely Asian, but blends from a predominantly Chinese menu and featuring various Taiwanese, Korean, Japanese items. The latter includes sushi, which is likely one of the only spots in the neighborhood that still has it after midnight. They have bluefin tuna and sea urchin, in which Cafe 101 is one of the only late night spots to offer it. Their beef chow fun is nice and greasy, but filled with excessive onions, bean sprouts, and various other veggies that almost take away from the noodles and beef (which was nicely cooked). Their shrimp and egg came in a nice set, which was a good surprise and surprisingly well executed. This is also a spot for Japanese curry, and even though it's not the best, it most certainly does the job. Taiwanese popcorn chicken is on point, cumin lamb is unsurprisingly spicy, and Singapore chow mai fun has a tinge of solid wok hei. (#1) I'm genuinely not a fan of their soups and think the sushi rolls are not their best work. While they also have milk, tea options, unless one is desperate, I would also steer clear of. Parking in the early evening can be an issue at Don Huang Plaza, but after 11pm, the parking options should be abundant. I would consider coming here in a larger group, especially with late night owls. ___________ (#1) Wok's essence (鑊氣)

While the osmanthus with cream remains my personal favorite, this visit I ordered the high mountain pouchong with orange and was not disappointed. Luckily there wasn't a line. I picked up a green tea passion fruit tea and was surprised how tasty it was! The drink was a pretty yellow hue with passion fruit seeds at the top. The green tea flavor wasn't overly strong or dry wnd was very fragrant-- super tasty~ It came in a recyclable little sling carrier too, super cute :) I love how the brand focuses on real fruit, milk/cream so there aren't any artificial ingredients lurking around. You can order at the kiosk or at the cashier. For sweetness customization, they only have full level, less sweet, and no sugar options. The less sweet is already plenty sweet for me, so wish there was a slightly less sweet option than that. The service was polite and friendly, and the inside was clean with several tables. Besides the great taste, I really appreciate the "no artificial stuff" way of doing things. After one drink I'm Chicha San Chen fan! Be sure to stop by sometime and try their tea :D
