Purple Milk Tea for a change
    Lou C.

I rarely turn this way to go to Dun Huang Plaza. First time I noticed Partea's House was after a piece of land in front of Hilton Garden Inn got fenced in. I had to stop and look at the sign. Ah, a giant business and residential building is coming soon. When I turned around to get into my car, I saw the name of this boba tea joint changed. I was glad Pressotea got replaced. I came to get something soothing for my tummy after eating fiercely food at Beltway 8 BBQ. I saw Purple Milk Tea sign smiling at me. I asked to replace red beans with aloe vera, low sugar and half ice. The drink came out so delicious. Ube dressed up the cup. I tasted Japanese tea faintly in the background. It was a little pricey for me but it was worth every drop. The restaurant is really clean and inviting. They got some picnic tables outside, great for those enjoying outdoor and accompanied by fur babies. Did someone say karaoke? I'm coming back to check it out.

This location is hidden in the Chinatown area & honestly it's not the best spot to have a tea house if you want it popping. It use to be Presotea & now it's Partea's house. The decor was cute, the place was clean & Ann was very knowledgeable, kind & patient because I took forever to pick a drink. Here's what I ordered. * Signature Milk Tea with crème brûlée- Amazing is one word I can describe this drink. Nice balance of sweetness along with the crème brûlée which uplifted the drink. I was told that the brûlée was made in house & I don't doubt it. It was more rich than what I get at other boba spots, just wish they would've gave me more. 4.6/5 * Passion fruit green tea- it was refreshing, it also had a nice tartness from the passion fruit & I definitely tasted the tea as well. 4.5/5 Overall, it was a great experience. This place is a gem & I hope it gets on the map because they deserve it. I appreciate Ann for her hospitality & making the drinks to perfection. Will I come back? Sure will. Tip: they also have karaoke as well, so if you wanna sing your life away. They got it all set up.

Solid boba tea spot, modern vines and hospitable service. We had the Demon Black Sugar milk tea, honey lemon green tea and honeydew milk tea. The honey lemon green tea was the best - refreshing and light. The other 2 were a bit sweeter than expected, even at 50% sugar. All in all good spot, but a bit hard to find since it's set back off of Beltway 8 and not easily visible from Bellaire or the highway. Worth trying.

We had a chance to try this milk tea shop this past week! The shop is a bit tucked away from the bustling side of Chinatown, but it's right next to Gerry's Restaurant and very close to the Dun Huang Plaza. We were able to try the Purple Milktea (Ube & red bean) and Mango Cloud (smoothie). The sweetness was great with 50% for the milktea, in my opinion. And the Ube and Red bean were a nice combination as well. My friend liked his mango smoothie too. I'd recommend to try this new boba place! They are still in the soft opening phase, and the owners were very nice and welcoming of any feedbacks!

I came here to try the Purple Milk Tea after seeing it on Instagram. Partea replaced Presotea. It's really cute and clean inside with plenty of seating. The lady at the register was very nice and explained to me what was in it. It was milk, ube drizzled along the side of the cup, and red bean on the bottom. You'd expect with all the purple that it would taste like ube milk but no, just watery milk. I used my straw and scraped the ube off the sides of the cup and tried to stir it into the milk but the flavor was not strong at all. The red bean at the bottom wasn't sweet and was just a little bit. I might come back to try a different drink but this Purple Milk Tea was looks only, no taste. And for $6.50 it's more expensive than other spots for sure.

The person that helped suggested this tea and it's a good fruit tea with fruit bits floating round to suck up. It's cut in tiny pieces so comes up on the straw perfectly and doesn't get stuck

The signature milk tea is on point, love it. I would definitely coming back for more soon.

Cafe 101 serve Japanese and Chinese food. There are table and booths inside as well as a full bar. We started with a couple of sushi specials... bluefin toro and Uni. Thought the bluefin toro were fresh as well as the Uni. Wasn't expecting so was pleasantly surprised. For our mains, we ordered the twice cooked pork and beef galbi. Both came as a set... with rice, side dish of pickled radish and carrots and dessert. Price-wise, it was reasonable considering it came as a set. Twice cooked pork hits the spot. It was plenty and had some to go. Galbi was decent... it's not like Korean Galbi. It was pretty saucy, sweet and tender. It was decent portion as well. Think we found our new late night spot! Look forward to trying out the rest of their menu in the future. :-)

The lounge like ambiance, along with their diner-like menu, is a major selling point for folks and has been one of the reasons for their popularity over the better part of the last two decades. It is a bit trendy and plays music that you would think of and in a Miami lounge or a pretentious New York Club. While service is not their strong suit, the clean bathrooms, spacious seating, and semi-open kitchen makes up for some 'tudes from the staff. The menu is most definitely Asian, but blends from a predominantly Chinese menu and featuring various Taiwanese, Korean, Japanese items. The latter includes sushi, which is likely one of the only spots in the neighborhood that still has it after midnight. They have bluefin tuna and sea urchin, in which Cafe 101 is one of the only late night spots to offer it. Their beef chow fun is nice and greasy, but filled with excessive onions, bean sprouts, and various other veggies that almost take away from the noodles and beef (which was nicely cooked). Their shrimp and egg came in a nice set, which was a good surprise and surprisingly well executed. This is also a spot for Japanese curry, and even though it's not the best, it most certainly does the job. Taiwanese popcorn chicken is on point, cumin lamb is unsurprisingly spicy, and Singapore chow mai fun has a tinge of solid wok hei. (#1) I'm genuinely not a fan of their soups and think the sushi rolls are not their best work. While they also have milk, tea options, unless one is desperate, I would also steer clear of. Parking in the early evening can be an issue at Don Huang Plaza, but after 11pm, the parking options should be abundant. I would consider coming here in a larger group, especially with late night owls. ___________ (#1) Wok's essence (鑊氣)

While the osmanthus with cream remains my personal favorite, this visit I ordered the high mountain pouchong with orange and was not disappointed. It's refreshing in the Texas heat, a little tangy from the citrus and perfectly sweet (the lemon variety of it is also exceptional). Luckily there wasn't a line. I picked up a green tea passion fruit tea and was surprised how tasty it was! The drink was a pretty yellow hue with passion fruit seeds at the top. The green tea flavor wasn't overly strong or dry wnd was very fragrant-- super tasty~ It came in a recyclable little sling carrier too, super cute :) I love how the brand focuses on real fruit, milk/cream so there aren't any artificial ingredients lurking around. You can order at the kiosk or at the cashier. For sweetness customization, they only have full level, less sweet, and no sugar options. The less sweet is already plenty sweet for me, so wish there was a slightly less sweet option than that. The service was polite and friendly, and the inside was clean with several tables. Besides the great taste, I really appreciate the "no artificial stuff" way of doing things. After one drink I'm Chicha San Chen fan! Be sure to stop by sometime and try their tea :D

Good variety of drinks, with a few limited series including the Demon Slayer series. The strawberry mochi and Royal No. 9 milk tea were excellent. Prices are roughly on par. They have a Pokemon pack vending machine, but the prices are CRAZY, also it has some janky AI slop art as a background. If you have trouble saying no to your kids, I would recommend steering away... I instead opted to try their Jasmine Green Milk Tea with less ice and 25% sugar. Honestly, it was one of the weaker milk teas that I've had. Minimal tea flavor and the boba was just okay, nothing special. The signature Brown Sugar Boba Creme Brulee Milk is really easily drinkable... and fair warning, it does come packed with 800+ calories. The bathroom pin code is on the receipt.
