I enjoyed my recent trip to Taz Matcha. I tried their Earl Gray Matcha Latte with oat milk. I chose the Chiran Harvest matcha, which had a more earthy and robust flavor that stood out in a good way, and it paired well with the early grey. This was a unique and well-balanced latte, and my friends enjoyed it in their seating area where you take off your shoes and kneel and/or sit down, more similar to some restaurants and cafes in Japan. This is a spot I would love to come back to for high-quality matcha!
TAZ is hands down one of my favorite matcha spots in Seattle. As someone coming from the bay/tried uji matcha in japan , TAZ offers some solid ceremonial grade matcha. Both the strawberry and earl grey matcha with oat milk we ordered were perfectly creamy and rich in matcha flavor. You can tell they use high quality matcha since they hand whisk each drink and there are many flavor options you can customize for your drink. Very traditional Japanese ambiance but seating and parking is limited as it is in downtown Seattle. I do have to say price is a bit expensive at around $9-10/cup but very well worth it given rising costs+ comparable to other cafe drinks in the area. I get this as a treat every so often. Servers are very friendly and great at explaining menu items and you can purchase matcha bowls, whisks and matcha powders in store as well. Must visit if you are a matcha connoisseur like me
Amazing. I was extremely impressed with the high quality matcha. The interior is inviting, cozy, serene, and simply beautiful. Loved the modern Tatami seating. I stopped around 11am on a weekday and I was the only one in there. Once I left more people started stopping by. Tablet ordering style but staff immediately welcomed me in and approached me asked if I needed help or had any questions which was nice. I ordered an iced Strawberry Matcha with no added sweetness for my man and I chose the iced Earl Grey Matcha for myself. The matcha was high quality and soooo delicious! I tried the Strawberry Matcha and stirred it a bit more thoroughly for my boyfriend and it was super yummy! He was very pleased and agreed it was probably the best Strawberry Matcha he has had. My Earl Grey Matcha was definitely the best Earl grey Matcha I've tried compared to other cafes. The Earl Grey flavor was sweet but not too sweet and amazing flavor that paired perfectly with the smooth high quality matcha. I drank my beverage fast because it was so good but tried to be slow so I could really savor the flavor it was so dang delicious!!! The interior had dim, romantic, and calming lighting. Beautiful bar seating and modern Tatami seating. The painting on the wall was beautiful and my favorite part of the interior. The drinks are on the pricier side but definitely high quality as mentioned many times and very very yummy. I would definitely return and recommend!! Super impressed with the Earl Grey Matcha :)
I believe the interior is japandi style, creating a minimalist and warm environment. Given that we went on a weekend, it was a bit overwhelming inside since it was crowded and small. Despite that, service was relatively quick. There are also two bathrooms, no code or key needed. Strawberry Matcha w/extra matcha and less sweet (~$10) - 4/5 I got the Chiran matcha which was earthy and creamy. The strawberry puree was slightly sweet and could have been tarter. I wish I got extra strawberry puree because before I knew it, only the matcha was left. Earl Grey Matcha - 5/5 Great balance and ratio of earl grey-matcha-and milk! The earl grey was subtle, not overpowering the matcha. If I had to choose between the earl grey and strawberry I would get the earl grey! Quality matcha, but would only come here if I was in the area. Great drinks, but not AMAZING!
To know me is to know I love matcha, so I always make it a point to make a matcha stop when visiting a new city. This cafe specializes in ceremonial-grade matcha & kept popping up when I searched for the best matcha in Seattle, so naturally I had to find out why. I visited on a Sunday morning. They open at 10 a.m. on Sundays & by the time I arrived around 10:40 a.m. there was already a short line out the door. Thankfully, it moved pretty quickly. I'm truly not used to chilly weather anymore (desert-living), so I was grateful not to have to wait out in the cold for too long. Ordering is done through 2 tablets, and the staff were clearly busy, so I didn't get to ask any questions. I had my heart set on the banana oat matcha, but it was sold out. A tragedy. So I opted for the earl grey matcha with almond milk instead. I like that the drinks are so customizable. You can choose your matcha profile (such as earthy or floral), adjust the sweetness level & caffeine strength, swap out flavors, etc. I kept mine mostly as-is, just subbed almond milk. The drink was SO good. I love earl grey tea, but never had it in a matcha latte before. My first sip caught off guard because it was bitter, but it was delicious once I mixed it a bit. The cloud top added creaminess & overall, the matcha was a balanced blend of the 2 teas. The place is very quaint & since it was so busy, it felt crowded. Most people seem to get their drinks to go, and I just felt bunched up as I waited for the drink. There wasn't much room to stand & everyone was getting in each other's way, lol. There's seating at the bar, where you can watch the baristas prepare the matcha, and a couple tables with traditional Japanese-style seating. There are also a few cute trinkets on sale, and I imagine it can be a very calming environment when it's less crowded. WiFi is available, but I wouldn't consider this a place to hangout or work for a while. However, this is definitely a great place to grab a matcha and GO.
Been hearing that Taz has the best matcha in Seattle, and although I'm not sure I agree just yet, I can confidently say that it's definitely a strong contender. I am SO glad to have finally tried it. Drinks: (5/5) They had a special blueberry foam/cream so I got that on top of a regular matcha latte with oat milk. To be honest, I was really nervous about this drink because blueberry flavors don't usually translate well outside of baked goods in my opinion. I was proven COMPLETELY wrong. My matcha had an extremely accurate blueberry flavor that paired perfectly with the earthiness of the latte itself. I assume the flavor comes from dried and processed blueberries because it looked like powder that was dusted on top of my drink. 100% recommend. My partner got the earl grey matcha, which was also good but just ok when put side-by-side to the blueberry one. We honestly wished the earl grey came through a little stronger. Service: (5/5) There were a lot of people working behind the counter when we went and they were really churning drinks out! I can't imagine how busy this place can get. They were very sweet and our drinks came out super fast.
good atmosphere & fairly quick service long lines not many milk options. just whole milk & oat. 4/5 hojicha 4/5 earl grey matcha definitely a better matcha option on the area & they have different grades. to me there's no reason to by the highest grade if you're getting a latte! lol i'd say first or second grade is probably good enough!
I've been on a mission to try all the Matcha places in Seattle and this one was next on my list. The decor is simple, zen and very Japanese. The seating area on the left requires you to take off your shoes and sit comfortably on the low tables. The bar is a relaxing setup to sip your matcha and take it all in while you can watch the barista whisk away at the matcha powder and prepare your tea. The only part that's a bit off to me is that they were playing pop music which doesn't quite fit the theme. Matcha latte with black sesame cream (4/5) My matcha latte was ordered less sweet with oat milk and a floral blend which costs an extra dollar. The drink tasted amazing especially with the black sesame flavor but unfortunately it didn't taste floral at all. The matcha to me wasn't very strong as I didn't feel any extra alertness or extra energy kick like other ones I've tried in the city. Service is excellent and fast and I think it's a wonderful place to sit down, enjoy matcha and socialize with friends.
I saw this on my IG feeds recently and decided to try this place out. Since they just newly opened, the lines will be long like most new openings. My partner and I came around the afternoon before closing time and there was still a long line wrapping around the building. We waited for about 40 minutes to get inside. FYI they're doing the soft opening hours and close early at 2:30pm. By the time we went inside, the shop was small with a few counter seatings and two tables for small group seatings. Staffs were quick at whisking each matcha orders to keep the flow of customers. The menu was very simple, you get to choose two different types of ceremonial grade matcha added to your drink, Chiran (earthy notes) or Chashi blend (floral notes). Then choose either matcha, strawberry matcha or red bean matcha. At the time of ordering, they were sadly out of strawberry pureed so we both ordered the chiran and chashi matcha lattes with agave syrup. Overall, I thought their matcha were strong and not overly bitter. Each drink is about $8 with tax which is pricey for matcha. But I get it, the matcha shortage is real. I'm very surprised how there aren't much matcha cafes in Seattle. Will definitely go back once the hype dies down. read more

My first time here was for limited-time dinner and bar experience! Food was on a rotating menu and we tried the gyudon beef bowl which was delicious. Wish they would bring this back again! The service here is amazing. The owner and employees genuinely care for your experience and made sure we had a great time. I went back the very next day for their matcha, which was top quality and so delicious. read more
Best matcha in Seattle hands down. If you love hojicha I recommend the Hojicha cream top, but if you don't I would say it can be very overpowering and take over the flavor of the entire drink. I ordered the strawberry matcha (chiran) with jasmine syrup, a go-to for the past few times since I have gone to Taz Matcha since it's soft opening (maybe a flex). It's the kind of drink that makes me feel like I am truly capable of making good choices for once. The strawberry is relatively sweet but not syrupy-sweet, the matcha stays smooth and not bitter, and the jasmine adds just enough floral note to feel fancy without tasting like perfumey-soap. The texture is creamy but still light enough that ordering a second one can do no wrong (maybe be overly caffeinated). Overall, it's a memorable drink that's easy to recommend and even easier to finish! read more

I like the concept of a matcha cafe by day and a bar at night, but unfortunately, I feel like this place was overhyped. Everything was good but nothing was mind blowing, and I definitely don't think it's worth the hour long plus wait (the bar has a long waitlist but the cafe wait is sometimes pretty short). The snacks and matcha at the cafe are really picturesque but they taste pretty standard. The matcha in my opinion was a little bland and the strawberry flavor overpowered it. I actually liked the matcha strawberry at the bar more. I thought the strawberry matcha cocktail had a better balance of sweetness and earthiness. The rest of the drinks were also pretty good but nothing stood too much. The service is pretty friendly but they definitely favor regulars and their friends. There's no formal waitlist at the bar and they just text you when a spot is open. We waited about 90 minutes and when we asked about our spot, they said they forgot us which kinda sucks. read more
I've gotten two matcha lattes here. I definitely like the floral matcha better, but -1 star for needing to add $1 extra for it! Default price comes with a more earthy matcha, which I think doesn't have a strong enough taste in a matcha latte. It gets pretty crowded inside the store with everyone waiting for their matcha with not too much seating available. read more
I liked Taz Matcha! What sets it apart from other matcha cafes is that you can choose between two matchas - Chiran Harvest (earthy & robust) or Chashi blend (floral & umami). I tried a chiran harvest strawberry matcha, default 50% sweetness and thought it was pretty good! One of the better matchas I've had - good matcha flavor and just the right amount of sweetness. A few downsides to this place though - location (downtown, so not the easiest parking), too much ice so there's not actually much drink, and only two tables inside so it's pretty much only a grab and go place. Next time I'm downtown though (rarely), I will be sure to go again and try another drink! Taz is worth trying out if you like matcha! read more

Always on a side quest to find new matcha and hojicha spots, and Taz is a great find tucked away in downtown Seattle. I'm always on the lookout for hojicha that reminds me of Japan, and this place definitely comes close. The hojicha has a consistently good flavor, just make sure to give it a good stir before drinking. The matcha is great as well, not too milky. The shop itself is small with limited seating, but they do have a few cozy table spots where you're asked to take off your shoes, which is unique. Parking is limited to street parking, so keep that in mind if you're driving. Prices are a bit higher than other places, but the quality makes it worth it. read more
very cozy and wasn't busy for a mid day pick up. loved the tables, but very limited seating so keep that in mind if you plan on hanging out to enjoy your drink. earl grey matcha 7/10 came with earl grey cold foam! was really good when i sipped just the cold foam and the matcha, but when the bottom was mixed, the earl grey flavor was too strong and was a little too sweet for my liking. got a hint of matcha, but the flavor wasn't that strong after the drink was mixed. felt too rich and it was hard to finish. price wasn't terrible ($7.73) and overall was pretty solid. wasn't too far from the west lake link station and pike place! read more

Such a cute shop. I usually go after a workout class and it's a total treat. Love the traditional-inspired aesthetic with the floor tables/ cushions and the mounted trays in front of each seat. The employees are the sweetest and so hospitable (which is so refreshing in comparison to a lot of other shops in Seattle) and the drinks are delicious. My go-to is the iced earl grey matcha with jasmine syrup and almond milk. You can also adjust the sweetness, cream if any, strength of your matcha, etc. There's an easy to use POS kiosk for quick ordering or you can order through a staff member as well. Great spot to meet up with a friend. read more
The matcha at Taz is very good! I appreciate that they have different blends and strengths of matcha, and you can adjust your milk, sweetener, and sweetness level! They don't even charge extra for oat milk. They also have different cream tops to choose from, including a weekly special, such as banana or kinako. All of our drinks were very good and the matcha flavor was rich and not bitter. Having add ins such as strawberry or cream top tend to take away from the matcha flavor, so if you're a true matcha lover, I'd recommend going without too many add ins or increase the strength of the matcha. The shop itself is very cute, but has limited seating. The store is still quite busy, but I only waited about 20 minutes in total on a Thursday at 12pm. The store is still technically in their "soft opening" phase, so they close pretty early at 2:30pm, but now they serve sake and food at night, so be on the lookout for that! The staff were very friendly and fast. Pro tip: ask the cashier how sweet your drink would be before adjusting your sweetness level! I got a strawberry matcha with a banana cream top, and according to the cashier, the strawberry and cream were already pretty sweet, so I honestly wouldn't need to add much sugar. And she was right! It was still perfectly sweet without adding extra sweetener. Would definitely recommend Taz Matcha if the wait isn't too long or you're really craving a solid matcha! read more

Very delicious Matcha and Hojicha. I honestly like my drinks regular without anything fancy, but today I decided to give it a try! Pick your hot or cold beverage, syrup, filling/topping, and choose your sweetness. I am a Hojicha fan, I got it with black sesame, earl grey, + 50% sweetness. This is more of a tea bark earthy taste. Very unique taste. Didn't need the black sesame. 4/5 Mango matcha with earl grey syrup, regular sweetness. Too sweet for me, and not much tartness but that's just my preference! 3/5 Black sesame matcha with earl grey, regular sweetness was much more heavier and creamy if you will. 3.5/5 Canele - French custard filling pastry. Caramelized on the outside. Crispy and bouncy exterior filled with custard. 4/5 (I LOVE Caneles) All in all! I thought this was a fun experience and I would definitely come back. Thanks! read more

One of the best matchas I've had in Seattle! The ratio of matcha to milk is just right for me. Leaning more towards matcha than milk. There wasn't a long line when I went on a weekday. And a spot by the bar opened up, so i was able to sit and enjoy my drink. Inside is aesthetically pleasing! read more

We came at 3pm on a Saturday and there was a small line. I think we waited 5-10 minutes before ordering and 5-10 minutes before getting our drink after ordering. The interior of the cafe is very aesthetic and they have a lot of cute matcha bowls. The drink itself tasted very milky -- I couldn't really taste the matcha. I also felt like the jasmine syrup overpowered the matcha flavor. The earl grey cream top was yummy, but there wasn't a lot. Overall, I don't think this matcha was anything special, but maybe I ordered wrong. read more
Very cute interior space. Some bar seating and some tables on the ground (you sit on traditional tatami mats). I'm gonna say it- probably my favorite matcha in Seattle (so far). They have great classic flavor combinations but it's obvious they take their matcha seriously. Drinks weren't too sweet but flavors were well balanced. The baristas (match-istas?) were very knowledgeable. I will definitely go out of my way to go back. read more
After hearing all the hype online about this place, we decided to give it a try on a Thursday morning. We arrived about 10 minutes before opening and there was already a line. Once it opened, the owner apologized for the wait and greeted us in. Strawberry Matcha Latte (4/5): we customized it how the employee recommended (jasmine syrup and 50% sweetness). The matcha is definitely strong. We did wish they had a bit more strawberry. By the middle of the drink it tasted like regular matcha. The aesthetic of the place is 10/10. I appreciated how clean the bathrooms were too. All of the employees were super nice. read more

The combo hits, as this is one of the best matchas I've had. The quality of the matcha is on point and the sweetness was perfect. If you love matcha, then this is the spot to go to. I was on a quick trip to Seattle and stumbled across this new matcha cafe nearby our hotel. It was so good I came here two days in a row! The matcha was so fresh and clean. The staff was also very nice and patient with us ordering since there were two different kinds of matcha powder and different adjustments like sweeteners, foams, and milks that you can customize. I don't like my matcha's too sweet so I was glad the staff provided me suggestions. I highly recommend if you are in Seattle, and I will definitely keep this on my list of recommendations to visit! read more
Overhyped Macha spot with long wait. One thing I like was that they have interesting toppings and add a flavors such as black sesame - it was not overly sweet either The line seem to be moving extremely slow, and the barista took their time to make the Matcha. I love the vibe of this place so much and would come back daily if it wasn't in downtown. This place is truly busy every minute of the day, with the quiet period being right around 9-9:15am. The worst part is just how busy it is, which means it gets loud and you have to do your best to not get irritated at the countless number of people stepping on the tatami with their shoes. I don't feel that the drinks are any different compared to what you can get at any other shop that uses premium matcha. There are a lot of cool customizations, but even the cheapest one will put you close to $10/drink. Almost all the customers are in their twenties, most likely still in college, which makes it feel like a big influencer overhype. But this place excels because of the vibe, the decor, and the staff. The staff has so much endurance, patience, and attentiveness, it's truly admirable. I think this place could be really cool if it was more of a quiet room to read, study, or work, with a window for to-go orders. You know, the relaxed elegance it was designed to have. Still worth visiting, and a place I'd definitely take my friends from out of town. read more
We went on a weekdays' noon. The line moved really quick and it took about 20 minutes to get our drinks. The establishment is cute and they're transparent about what blend they used for their matcha. The drink came out to around $8~ after tax for 4g of matcha but the matcha didn't impress me that much. The drinks were sweetened by jasmine syrup but I'd rather get my matcha latte without any sweetener but in this case, with their matcha blend choice, jasmine syrup did all the of the sweetening job. The canele was a good compliment but nothing special about it. I think the drinks are fairly priced given that they are in Beltown and nearby Pike Place. I would get it in the future if I'm the area but I wouldn't go out of my way to get it. Definitely will try it again with different options to see how that go. read more

probably my favourite matcha spot in seattle. yeah sure it has a lot of hype, but sometimes hype is warranted. i don't care how viral this place gets, i'll keep going. the inside is minimalistic, with hand-painted murals on the walls. every barista i've interacted with is awesome - if you don't know what you want, they will gladly help you figure it out. now, this matcha is top-tier. i haven't even tried the super special shogun competition grade stuff. i've only ever gotten the chiran harvest, but even that one is delicious. i also really, really love the hojicha. this place has easily surpassed other matcha i've had and i was on the wave before it got as popular as it has now in the US... so whether you are a seattle local or an out-of-towner, you really should try out taz next time you're hankering for some matcha. read more

The matcha was excellent! The service was very friendly! They really took the time to explain the matcha and gave great recommendations! The strawberry matcha and jasmine syrup was excellent together! Inside was so cute! I didn't like the wait. The line is soooo long, but they were really working hard and there just happens to be a lot of people waiting to try! read more
Taz *June 4, 2025 *8:30am- Wednesday *5 Stars Seating/ Environment: *No parking *Pretty Aesthetic *Loud (when crowded) *Hole-in-the-wall Food/Drink: *Iced Matcha Latte (Chiran Harvest and Charashi Blend) with Oat Milk, Agave, and Matcha Top Cream We checked out Taz Matcha Bar after a friend recommended it (shout out Emily), and it definitely lived up to the hype! We ordered the Chiran and Chashira blend matcha, both were 10/10--super smooth, high quality, and not overly sweet. The server was really helpful in explaining the sweetness levels and walking us through the menu, which was nice since all the drinks are handmade to order. The space itself is pretty small and gets busy fast--we went right at opening and still waited about 15 minutes. It can get a little loud inside, so it was sometimes hard to hear, but the vibe is still relaxed. Seating is limited and low to the ground, Japanese-style, and you'll need to take your shoes off. The restroom was also surprisingly cute, with green matcha-themed walls. We really wished we had more time to come back and try the strawberry matcha--it's definitely on the list for next time! read more
I see so many friends posting this place with long lines and reviews saying 1+ hour waits but I fortunately seen none of those. No lines and almost empty inside on a Thursday 9am, so I hit the jackpot. I got the strawberry matcha latte (Chashi blend) upon recommendation that the Chashi blend is more floral and fragrant despite a $1 surcharge. I opted for regular milk and 50% sweetness upon recommendation. The matcha is really good, and I even got the matcha krispy to make my visit very matcha-ful. The matcha krispy has strong matcha flavor and a bit sweet, but pairs well with the drink. They have countertop seats if you are a small group and low seats for larger groups, both of which fairly aesthetic. I sat at the countertop and immediately someone asks me if I wanted water and I opted to. Throughout my drink, they picked out trash (the straw and wrapper of the krispy) in a timely manner and refilled water. I did not expect actual full service at a matcha / tea place, so this was a nice surprise! Everyone there was super friendly. I guess the prices are quite high - over $10 for a strawberry matcha latte after tax, so they have to prove the value somehow. My only complaint for this place is pricing, since the matcha and service are top notch. I wasn't a fan of how they do the transactions - extra 4% surcharge for credit cards for an already pricy drink. And then they hand the screen with a default 20% tip with multiple steps needed to take to leave a custom tip. I am not docking off a star here solely because of the full service you will receive if you chose to sit down, which I guess bakes in to the 20-30% upcharge compared to other matcha spots. However, I probably wouldn't go out of my way here, but can see this as a once in a while treat. read more

Taz was not on my radar at all. My friend and I were walking to a brunch spot on a Thursday and saw a long line out there door at Taz. I looked it up and got so excited because I love drinking matcha. So after brunch, we got in line and waited outside for about 20-30 minutes. Once inside, you're directed to order at the counter. They offer two different types of ceremonial matcha, as well as hojicha and a few snacks. I got the popular strawberry matcha, and it definitely meets hype! You can take the drink to go, or sit at the bar counter or at a table where you have to take off your shoes. The table seats are low and basically like sitting on the ground. I liked sitting at the counter to chat with the staff. You can watch them make your drink and talk with them to learn more about matcha. They also gave me a little sample of matcha too. Highly recommend this place if you like matcha / green tea. Just be prepared to wait in a long line. read more
I got the chasi blend iced matcha latte with the jasmine syrup as sweetener and loved it! I believe the chasi blend was described as floral and umami while the chiran was more earthy. My matcha was very smooth. I was concerned that the jasmine would be too sweet and overpowering, but it was pretty light and didn't take away from the matcha. The cashier noted that their 100% sweetness was more of a 75% compared to other places. My friend got the strawberry matcha and I thought it was pretty strawberry forward. Very nice staff and love that they give you options to choose and customize your drink. Would definitely recommend for a good matcha. read more
If you're familiar with Seattle architecture, Taz Matcha is located across the street from the historical Times Square Building. From the matcha shop's entrance you can even spot Downtown Seattle's giant sequoia tree. High walkability score. Location is in a good area since it's close to different modes of public transportation. Regional buses are abundant in the retail district and the closest light rail station is Westlake. They're also in close proximity to Pike Place Market, Nordy's, and the Convention Center. When you walk in you'll see kiosks as they're the primary source for ordering. However, if staff members notice a bottleneck at the kiosks, an employee will jump in and process in-person transactions to get the ticket orders flowing again. In the summer, a line out the door isn't a problem but now it's wintertime. It's cold and rainy. Nobody wants to wait outside. Staff are professional and kind. I felt that everyone behind the counter was experienced, they helped each other out, and they all worked well as a team. It seemed like a cohesive, fast-paced environment. You can sit on tatami floor chairs. It's best practice to remove your shoes before sitting. You can also sit at the bar and watch employees craft beverages. Don't expect full on conversations with the baristas though. They're so busy making drinks at high precision to the point where they don't have the time nor capacity to build strong relationships with customers. Bring fam or friends if you want someone to talk to. Experiences like this should be shared anyway. Nice presentation of beverages. To-go cups are nicely branded and drinks were on point. read more

I think Taz is the best matcha place in Seattle. After trying a few of the newer places that opened up I think Taz is my #1. The earthy matcha flavor really shows through in all of the drinks, which is sometimes hard to get. I really enjoyed the matcha latte with jasmine syrup as the sweetener. Service is amazing, which really sets this place apart from other.The staff are super kind and made very thoughtful recommendations on what adjustments to make to your drink depending on what you like and what would taste the best. I love the care they put into each drink. You can watch them create your drink at the bar. They highly encourage you try your drink in the store so they can make more adjustments on sweetness for you. Lines can take a while on the weekend since it is made to order. However, the employee says there is always a slow time during the week, so if you don't want to wait then I would recommend going then. But I am definitely going back whenever! read more

This new matcha shop is a great addition to Seattle's growing matcha scene, conveniently located within walking distance of South Lake Union and the downtown waterfront. When we visited, there was a 15-20 minute wait, and since they're in their soft opening phase, things felt a bit disorganized. Limited seating and a lack of space inside meant the line had to form outside. Once we reached the front, we were asked to step out again to wait, which was understandable but slightly awkward. Ordering was quick, but we weren't asked if we were dining in or taking our drinks to go. We stayed to enjoy the atmosphere and assumed it was self-service. However, the shop actually offers partial table service, including water and a complimentary matcha shot served on a tray--something that could be communicated more clearly. It might help if staff asked about dine-in preferences or if a self-serve water station was added. I ordered the strawberry matcha with a touch of lavender syrup (i did 5% lavendar syrup and 20% strawberry). While the strawberry and lavender were lovely, the matcha flavor was weaker than I'd hoped. We also tried the matcha and black sesame rice crispy onigiris, which were super cute but weren't particularly memorable in flavor. My partner noticed a soapy taste and couldn't finish his, while I found them just okay. Despite the initial hiccups, I'd return to try more drinks and hopefully catch the full menu (egg sandos!!) earlier in the day. Finally a good matcha shop in downtown Seattle. They still have Soft Opening and the place is pretty small and they have limited tables And they made the matcha w the "chasen" aka Japanese whisk. So dont surprise when you see a long line and wait time ok. Staff was so helpful and friendly. They explained the menu and help me accommodate my drinks with my sweetness craving haha. We were on a matcha mission and tried different matcha cafes in Seattle. We got the einspanner, banana matcha, and strawberry matcha. I would recommend Taz to everyone compared to phe as their matcha is more grassy and sweet! read more
It's matcha time... My love for matcha is indescribable so when I heard there is a new matcha cafe in town we had to go try it. Taz is located in the heart of downtown Seattle on Stewart St between 4th and 5th Street diagonally across from the old Bon Marche building north east corner. Their matcha drinks are barely sweet or fragrant, but their service was pretty on point even though they had a mishaps with my order and gave me the wrong drink. They were able to provide a service recovery correcting my order with letting me drink the wrong drink and giving me the right one. If you are looking for some authentic matcha from Japan then try them out, but it you are a real matcha fanatic then it might be a hit or miss for you depending on how you like your matcha. Overall it wasn't a bad experience since they are still in their soft opening phase. I will try and visit them again when they are officially open and have a more extensive menu. read more
Super cute interior. The owner is SO nice and the workers are super caring. Everyone really takes the time to explain the menu to you and the difference in the matcha powders they offer. I ordered the strawberry matcha with the chashi blend with oatmilk. They recommended the jasmine syrup as a sweetener and it was really good and unique! I definitely recommend this matcha spot out for those in the Seattle area! The canele was just okay and the egg sando was good, these items are not a must try. There was a line and because it is fairly new and I understand the hype. I don't think anything is worth the long wait, but you should definitely try this place out when the lines are not too long! read more
Taz Matcha is a must go for matcha lovers in Seattle. We ordered the Iced Red Bean Matcha and a Hot Hojicha Latte, both were absolutely delicious. For the matcha, you get to choose between two blends: the Chiran Harvest, which is more earthy, and the Chashi Blend, which leans floral. We went with the Chiran Harvest and loved the deep, rich flavor. We also tried a matcha canelé as a snack, it was okay but didn't quite stand out the same way the drinks did. That said, one of the highlights of our visit was getting to watch the staff prepare the drinks right in front of us. The process was so delicate, adding to the whole experience. The space itself is very zen and spacious, with lots of thoughtful Japanese decor. It's perfect for catching up with friends or simply enjoying a quiet moment with a great cup of matcha. Although one thing I'd call out is that the drinks are on the pricier end. read more
This was very popular on social media and I had to see what the hype was all about. Although it seemed like a hole in the wall, the long line on a Friday didn't feel as such. When going in youre greeted and shown the menu through paper as well as QR code. They also had cute merchandise for matcha and Taz. I tried the strawberry matcha which was just what I expected and delivered what I wanted. They had cute seating but it was so crowded, we just enjoyed our drinks to go. read more
