New Berg Hospitality creation. The restaurant is beautiful, the food was amazing. But the service was terrible! We were literally one of 4 tables in the restaurant - on a Thursday night at 7:30pm, there was hardly anyone in the restaurant. During our time, the manager stood at the bar, presumably to oversee operations. Our waitress was attentive until we ordered our food. Once our entrees were delivered, she never proactively checked on us. We had to ask the manager twice to refill our water glasses and the entire time during dinner I had to pour my own wine (which was not a cheap bottle). For the most part, she was not present at all in the restaurant. When she was, she never looked our way or checked on us. I complained to the manager and nothing changed. In the end, after we declined dessert, the waitress did not bring the check. We waited what felt like 15-20 minutes and finally had to ask another server who was sweeping and preparing tables for the next day. Extremely disappointing of an experience, considering the quality of Berg restaurants. Good food is a dime a dozen in Houston - sadly, because of the pricing of this restaurant and the terrible services experience, we will not return. read more

The food and service were quite good! I might be back to experience the full menu as they had a very limited one available for NYE. My only complaint is that they were quite unprepared for the rush of the night. It appeared to me that they were inexperienced with a NYE night and therefore were not able to deliver what they promised in the description of the evening as advertised. We were told that a DJ would be there at 9:45, a complementary glass of champagne would be offered, and a festive time would be available on their patio. They delivered in none of that. I'm always excited to try new spots in the food mecca of Houston. Got to say, I wasn't super impressed by this spot. We ordered the frito misto which was decent. The batter was strange, almost looked like a funnel cake batter. Had a good flavor but they went a tad overboard on the salt. The pastas were mediocre and nothing to write home about, especially for the price point. I mean, what a deal being able to add 3 shrimps for a cost of $14! I understand them needing to justify the rent, but at least put out a product that people will love and be willing to pay a premium for. This is not it. read more

An excellent addition to Post Oak Boulevard! Came for lunch with hubby and enjoyed the entire restaurant to ourselves! Beautifully done with exquisite finishes. Hostess and all servers are friendly and exceptional. They bring a complimentary small appetizer of a few olives and the cutest "fingerling" pastries that are made in Italy by young girls who wrap the dough around their little fingers. Soooo cute! We started with a special off-menu soup with Tuscan kale and white beans, as well as the grilled octopus--both really wonderful! We shared the lasagne bolognese and the branzino. The lasagne isn't too big, which is great! It has a zillion thin layers with sauce poured on top, and is quite beautiful to look at when they bring to the table. The branzino comes in a handful of small filets that are cooked to perfection! We shared the affogato which is 3 scoops of vanilla bean ice cream with espresso poured on top and we couldn't have left happier! Will definitely be back! read more

We came here for dinner the Saturday before New Year's Eve with 2 other couples. The restaurant itself is beautiful and has a great vibe, and even with a full house we were able to hear each other while visiting at the table. We placed an appetizer order upon sitting because we had made a later reservation and were hungry. Our server noted that there was a complimentary amuse-bouche given to every table but was happy to put our order in. Our appetizers came out before our cocktails, which in my opinion should never be the case. The food can take as long as you want as long as you keep my cocktails coming. After our appetizers I had to gently ask if we were still getting the amuse-bouche at which point they did bring that out. We shared probably around a dozen dishes amongst our group and I just wasn't blown away by the food. With so much stand out Italian food in Houston, the food here was mostly mid. The stand outs were probably the avocado & cucumber salad and the truffle pasta. We also really enjoyed the parmesan cheese trolley service. This wasn't listed anywhere on the menu but our waiter told us about it when we enquired about the giant wheel of cheese in the corner. This is a new restaurant so maybe it still needs some time finding it's sea legs but I am not in a hurry to come back. read more

My two friends who are woman of color got to restaurant before I did and the lady in the front was extremely rude and told them they are reservations only despite being COMPLETELY empty. While there was literally only 6 other ppl which were white sitting in the main dining area. So we sit and they give us the restaurant week menu and then say actually we will not be doing the restaurant week because we'll be closing at 6 mind you it was 4 o clock! Highlights: the best calamari I've ever had, amazing tortellini verde, sublime burrata, and the chicken parm is in a class of its own! Had a reservation for 9:30 inside, arrived at 9:20 and were not sat until 10:45. At 10:20, I had to ask the manager why we had not at least been offered a drink since we had been standing for an hour at that point. They kept trying to get us to alter our reservation to outside, despite it being extremely cold. Paid for the NYE special and the food was amazing. Sadly we did not receive our first course until after 11:20. Had to spend midnight eating instead of dancing like we had planned and timed out. No comps were made or even offered. They never brought out the cacio e peppe show/ serving they advertised as a part of the prefixed evening. The dance floor was non existent. The food was good, but not good enough to out weigh the poor experience. They said they were going to do an Italian tradition count down with grapes and it never happened. The service was sub par, even though it was Sunday night and not busy. It was half an hour before we even got apps on the table. The worst part was when the waiter dropped a big slab of Parmesian in my pasta and splattered tomato sauce everywhere including in our drinks and onto my wife's silk blouse. While the restaurant and ambiance is beautiful, the food is not up to par. I had the lobster pasta and my date had the ravioli. Both tasted as if they used canned tomato sauce. The lobster pasta was definitely not with $68. I may return for cocktails but I will not be dining. read more
